| They are self-realized; they understand God. |

| ਪੋਥੀ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਕਮਾਈਐ ॥ਭਉ ਵਟੀ ਇਤੁ ਤਨਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ |
| pothhee puraan kamaaeeai || bho vattee eith than paaeeai || |
| Let the reading of your prayer book be the oil, and let the Fear of God be the wick for the lamp of this body. |

| One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: |

| ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| jo prabh bhaavai so thheeai avar n karanaa jaae || |
| Whatever pleases God's Will comes to pass. Nothing else can be done. |

| ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sathagur sach prabh niramalaa sabadh milaavaa hoe ||1|| rehaao || |
| The True Guru leads us to meet the Immaculate True God through the Word of His Shabad. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰੰਗਾਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਭੈ ਕੇਹੀ ਲਾਗਿ ॥੪॥੮॥੪੧॥ |
| naanak sabadh rathae har naam rangaaeae bin bhai kaehee laag ||4||8||41|| |
| O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Shabad are dyed in the Color of the Lord's Name. Without the Fear of God, how can they retain this Color? ||4||8||41|| |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ |
| kar kirapaa maelaaeian har naam vasiaa man aae || |
| Granting His Grace, God unites us with Himself. The Name of the Lord comes to abide within the mind. |

| ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਖਾ ਮੀਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| har prabh sakhaa meeth prabh maeraa anthae hoe sakhaaee ||3|| |
| The Lord God is my Friend and Companion. God shall be my Helper and Support in the end. ||3|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੪॥੧੫॥੪੮॥ |
| naanak sobhaa surath dhaee prabh aapae guramukh dhae vaddiaaee ||4||15||48|| |
| O Nanak, by His Grace, He bestows enlightened awareness; God Himself blesses the Gurmukh with glorious greatness. ||4||15||48|| |

| ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਦ ਭੈ ਰਚੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ |
| sathagur miliai sadh bhai rachai aap vasai man aae ||1|| |
| Meeting the True Guru, one is permeated forever with the Fear of God, who Himself comes to dwell within the mind. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਕਹਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| sabh kishh aapae aap hai houmai vich kehan n jaae || |
| God Himself is everything; those who are in their ego cannot even speak of this. |
|
| ਆਪਣਾ ਭਉ ਤਿਨ ਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
| aapanaa bho thin paaeioun jin gur kaa sabadh beechaar || |
| Those who contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad are filled with the Fear of God. |
|
| ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ |
| sachai sabadh man mohiaa prabh aapae leae milaae || |
| God joins to Himself those whose minds are fascinated with the True Word of His Shabad. |
|
| ਜੋਤੀ ਹੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| jothee hoo prabh jaapadhaa bin sathagur boojh n paae || |
| Through His Light, God is revealed. Without the True Guru, understanding is not obtained. |
|
| ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| so prabh nadhar n aavee manamukh boojh n paae || |
| God's Glance of Grace does not come to them; those self-willed manmukhs do not obtain understanding. |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਅਵਗਣਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ |
| manamukh sabadh n jaanee avagan so prabh dhoor || |
| The self-willed manmukhs do not know the Shabad; those without virtue are far removed from God. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੨॥ |
| gur sabadhee man baedhhiaa prabh miliaa aap hadhoor ||2|| |
| Their minds are pierced through by the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and God Himself ushers them into His Presence. ||2|| |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥ |
| aapae prabhoo dhaeiaal hai aapae dhaee bujhaae || |
| God Himself is Merciful; He Himself bestows understanding. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਿਦੂ ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੬੦॥ |
| naanak gur saalaahee aapanaa jidhoo paaee prabh soe ||4||27||60|| |
| O Nanak, I sing the Praises of my Guru; through Him, I find that God. ||4||27||60|| |

| ਪਿਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| pir prabh saachaa sohanaa paaeeai gur beechaar ||1|| rehaao || |
| God is your Husband; He is Handsome and True. He is obtained by reflecting upon the Guru. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਜਿ ਸਭਸੈ ਦੇਇ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ |
| so prabh preetham man vasai j sabhasai dhaee adhhaar ||2|| |
| That Beloved God abides in her mind; He gives His Support to all. ||2|| |
|
| ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਨੋ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਹੈ ਬਹਿ ਸਚਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
| dhharam raae no hukam hai behi sachaa dhharam beechaar || |
| The Righteous Judge of Dharma, by the Hukam of God's Command, sits and administers True Justice. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| guramukh baanee breham hai sabadh milaavaa hoe || |
| The Word of the Gurmukh is God Himself. Through the Shabad, we merge in Him. |
|
| ਜਾ ਦੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦੇਖਿਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| jaa dhaekhaa prabh aapanaa prabh dhaekhiai dhukh jaae || |
| When I see my God, seeing God Himself, my pain is taken away. |
|
| ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਾ ਤਿਨ ਸਜਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| jaae pushhaa thin sajanaa prabh kith bidhh milai milaae ||1|| |
| I go and ask my friends, ""How can I meet and merge with God?""||1|| |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| sathigur dhaathaa har naam kaa prabh aap milaavai soe || |
| The True Guru is the Giver of the Name of the Lord. God Himself causes us to meet Him. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| sathigur har prabh bujhiaa gur jaevadd avar n koe || |
| The True Guru understands the Lord God. There is no other as Great as the Guru. |
|
| ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਢਹਿ ਪਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥ |
| ho gur saranaaee dtehi pavaa kar dhaeiaa maelae prabh soe ||2|| |
| I have come and collapsed in the Guru's Sanctuary. In His Kindness, He has united me with God. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
| sabhanaa thaeree aas prabh sabh jeea thaerae thoon raas || |
| O God, You are the Hope of all. All beings are Yours; You are the Wealth of all. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਦਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥ |
| prabh thudhhahu khaalee ko nehee dhar guramukhaa no saabaas || |
| O God, none return from You empty-handed; at Your Door, the Gurmukhs are praised and acclaimed. |

| ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੈ ਦਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥ |
| koee guramukh sajan jae milai mai dhasae prabh gunathaas || |
| If I meet the Gurmukh, my Spiritual Friend, he will show me God, the Treasure of Excellence. |
|
| ਹਉ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਸਾਈ ਨਿਤ ਖੜੀ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਸੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ |
| ho panthh dhasaaee nith kharree koee prabh dhasae thin jaao || |
| I stand by the wayside and ask the Way. If only someone would show me the Way to God-I would go with him. |
|
| ਕਰਿ ਮਿੰਨਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਜੋਦੜੀ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਣੈ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| kar minnath kar jodharree mai prabh milanai kaa chaao ||1|| |
| I beg of them, I implore them; I have such a yearning to meet God! ||1|| |
|
| ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਜਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥ |
| maerae bhaaee janaa koee mo ko har prabh mael milaae || |
| O my Siblings of Destiny, please unite me in Union with my Lord God. |

| ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ho sathigur vittahu vaariaa jin har prabh dheeaa dhikhaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am a sacrifice to the True Guru, who has shown me the Lord God. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਹਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਨ ਰਜਊ ਮੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ |
| ho gur saalaahi n rajoo mai maelae har prabh paas ||2|| |
| I am never tired of praising the Guru, who unites me with the Lord God. ||2|| |

| ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਾ ਸੋ ਥੀਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੩॥ |
| jo har prabh bhaanaa so thheeaa dhhur likhiaa n maettai koe ||3|| |
| All things happen according to the Will of the Lord God. No one can erase the pre-ordained Writ of Destiny. ||3|| |
|
| ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਤੁਸਾ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਇ ॥ |
| jaae pushhahu sohaaganee thusaa kio kar miliaa prabh aae || |
| I go and ask the happy soul-brides, ""How did you come to meet God?"" |

| ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਮੈ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| bhaaee rae mai meeth sakhaa prabh soe || |
| O Siblings of Destiny, God is my Friend and Companion. |
|
| ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੈ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ |
| thin kee sangath dhaehi prabh mai jaachik kee aradhaas || |
| Grant me their company, God-I am a beggar; this is my prayer. |
|
| ਤਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਪਤਿ ॥੩॥ |
| thin prabh aap bhulaaeiaa naa this jaath n path ||3|| |
| One who is deceived by God Himself, has no position and no honor. ||3|| |
|
| ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਛੁਟੈਗੀ ਬੇਬਾਣਿ ॥ |
| so prabh chith n aaeiou shhuttaigee baebaan || |
| You are not conscious of God, and your body shall be cast into the wilderness. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਮਨਿ ਪਈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥ |
| jis thae sojhee man pee miliaa purakh sujaan || |
| Through them, understanding has entered my mind, and I have met the All-knowing Lord God. |
|
| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਇੰਦ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| aath pehar prabh dhhiaae thoon gun goeindh nith gaao ||1|| rehaao || |
| Twenty-four hours a day, meditate on God. Constantly sing the Glories of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa kar chaakaree prabh saahib sachaa soe ||2|| |
| Forever and ever, work for God; He is our True Lord and Master. ||2|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਅਪੁਣਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੪॥੭॥੭੭॥ |
| naanak ko prabh maeiaa kar sach dhaevahu apunaa naao ||4||7||77|| |
| Please show Mercy to Nanak, God, and bless him with Your True Name. ||4||7||77|| |

| ਤਿਸੈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਭਾਈਹੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ॥ |

| O Siblings of Destiny, it is received only when God Himself bestows it. |

| ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ |
| this saranaaee sadhaa sukh paarabreham karathaar ||1|| |
| In His Sanctuary there is eternal peace. He is the Supreme Lord God, the Creator. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਵਸਿ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੨॥ |
| so prabh manahu n visarai jin sabh kishh vas keethaa ||2|| |
| May I never forget God from my mind; He holds all in the Power of His Hands. ||2|| |
