| I have found the Priceless Name of the Beloved Lord; it never leaves me or goes anywhere else. ||3|| |

| What praise, what glory and what virtues should I utter, in order to please the Lord? |

| ਹੋਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਏ ॥੪॥੮॥ |
| hoth kirapaal dheen dhaeiaa prabh jan naanak dhaas dhasaaeae ||4||8|| |
| That humble being, unto whom the Merciful Lord is kind - O servant Nanak, he is the slave of God's slaves. ||4||8|| |

| oue sukh kaa sio baran sunaavath || |
| Who can I tell, and with whom can I speak, about this state of peace and bliss? |

| ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਪੇਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਰਸਨ ਮਨਿ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| anadh binodh paekh prabh dharasan man mangal gun gaavath ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am in ecstasy and delight, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of God's Darshan. My mind sings His Songs of Joy and His Glories. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬਿਸਮ ਭਈ ਪੇਖਿ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੀ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਕਿਰਪਾਵਤ ॥ |
| bisam bhee paekh bisamaadhee poor rehae kirapaavath || |
| I am wonderstruck, gazing upon the Wondrous Lord. The Merciful Lord is All-pervading everywhere. |

| ਪੀਓ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਜਿਉ ਚਾਖਿ ਗੂੰਗਾ ਮੁਸਕਾਵਤ ॥੧॥ |
| peeou anmrith naam amolak jio chaakh goongaa musakaavath ||1|| |
| I drink in the Invaluable Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. Like the mute, I can only smile - I cannot speak of its flavor. ||1|| |

| ਜੈਸੇ ਪਵਨੁ ਬੰਧ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਜਾਵਤ ॥ |
| jaisae pavan bandhh kar raakhiou boojh n aavath jaavath || |
| As the breath is held in bondage, no one can understand its coming in and going out. |

| ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਿਦੈ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਭਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਉਆ ਕੀ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਕਹਾਵਤ ॥੨॥ |
| jaa ko ridhai pragaas bhaeiou har ouaa kee kehee n jaae kehaavath ||2|| |
| So is that person, whose heart is enlightened by the Lord - his story cannot be told. ||2|| |

| ਆਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਜੇਤੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਤੇਤੇ ਸੀਖੇ ਪਾਵਤ ॥ |
| aan oupaav jaethae kishh keheeahi thaethae seekhae paavath || |
| As many other efforts as you can think of - I have seen them and studied them all. |

| ਅਚਿੰਤ ਲਾਲੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਅਗਮ ਜੈਸੇ ਪਰਖਾਵਤ ॥੩॥ |
| achinth laal grih bheethar pragattiou agam jaisae parakhaavath ||3|| |
| My Beloved, Carefree Lord has revealed Himself within the home of my own heart; thus I have realized the Inaccessible Lord. ||3|| |
|
| ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਅਤੁਲੋ ਤੁਲਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਵਤ ॥ |
| niragun nirankaar abinaasee athulo thuliou n jaavath || |
| The Absolute, Formless, Eternally Unchanging, Immeasurable Lord cannot be measured. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਜਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਰਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਵਤ ॥੪॥੯॥ |
| kahu naanak ajar jin jariaa this hee ko ban aavath ||4||9|| |
| Says Nanak, whoever endures the unendurable - this state belongs to him alone. ||4||9|| |

| ਬਿਖਈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਇਵ ਹੀ ਗੁਦਾਰੈ ॥ |
| bikhee dhin rain eiv hee gudhaarai || |
| The corrupt person passes his days and nights uselessly. |
|
| ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਨ ਭਜੈ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮਾਤਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਜੂਐ ਜਿਉ ਹਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| gobindh n bhajai ahanbudhh maathaa janam jooai jio haarai ||1|| rehaao || |
| He does not vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the Universe; he is intoxicated with egotistical intellect. He loses his life in the gamble. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਤਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੈ ॥ |

| The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is priceless, but he is not in love with it. He loves only to slander others. |

| ਛਾਪਰੁ ਬਾਂਧਿ ਸਵਾਰੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਕੋ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਜਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ |
| shhaapar baandhh savaarai thrin ko dhuaarai paavak jaarai ||1|| |
| Weaving the grass, he builds his house of straw. At the door, he builds a fire. ||1|| |
|
| ਕਾਲਰ ਪੋਟ ਉਠਾਵੈ ਮੂੰਡਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਡਾਰੈ ॥ |
| kaalar pott outhaavai moonddehi anmrith man thae ddaarai || |
| He carries a load of sulfur on his head, and drives the Ambrosial Nectar out of his mind. |

| ਓਢੈ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਕਾਜਰ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਿਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਝਾਰੈ ॥੨॥ |
| oudtai basathr kaajar mehi pariaa bahur bahur fir jhaarai ||2|| |
| Wearing his good clothes, the mortal falls into the coal-pit; again and again, he tries to shake it off. ||2|| |
|
| ਕਾਟੈ ਪੇਡੁ ਡਾਲ ਪਰਿ ਠਾਢੌ ਖਾਇ ਖਾਇ ਮੁਸਕਾਰੈ ॥ |
| kaattai paedd ddaal par thaadta khaae khaae musakaarai || |
| Standing on the branch, eating and eating and smiling, he cuts down the tree. |
|
| ਗਿਰਿਓ ਜਾਇ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਛਿਟੀ ਛਿਟੀ ਸਿਰ ਭਾਰੈ ॥੩॥ |
| giriou jaae rasaathal pariou shhittee shhittee sir bhaarai ||3|| |
| He falls down head-first and is shattered into bits and pieces. ||3|| |
|
| ਨਿਰਵੈਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਰਚਾਏ ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਗਵਾਰੈ ॥ |
| niravairai sang vair rachaaeae pahuch n sakai gavaarai || |
| He bears vengeance against the Lord who is free of vengeance. The fool is not up to the task. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥ |

| Says Nanak, the Saving Grace of the Saints is the Formless, Supreme Lord God. ||4||10|| |

| All the others are deluded by doubt; they do not understand. |

| ਏਕੁ ਸੁਧਾਖਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਬੇਦਹਿ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| eaek sudhhaakhar jaa kai hiradhai vasiaa thin baedhehi thath pashhaaniaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| That person, within whose heart the One Pure Word abides, realizes the essence of the Vedas. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਪਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਜੇਤਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਈਐ ਤੇਤਾ ਲੋਗ ਪਚਾਰਾ ॥ |
| paravirath maarag jaethaa kishh hoeeai thaethaa log pachaaraa || |
| He walks in the ways of the world, trying to please people. |
|
| ਜਉ ਲਉ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ਤਉ ਲਉ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ |
| jo lo ridhai nehee paragaasaa tho lo andhh andhhaaraa ||1|| |
| But as long as his heart is not enlightened, he is stuck in pitch black darkness. ||1|| |
|
| ਜੈਸੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਾਧੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੀਜੈ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਂਮੈ ॥ |
| jaisae dhharathee saadhhai bahu bidhh bin beejai nehee jaanmai || |
| The land may be prepared in every way, but nothing sprouts without being planted. |
|
| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੈ ॥੨॥ |
| raam naam bin mukath n hoee hai thuttai naahee abhimaanai ||2|| |
| Just so, without the Lord's Name, no one is liberated, nor is egotistical pride eradicated. ||2|| |

| ਨੀਰੁ ਬਿਲੋਵੈ ਅਤਿ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਨੈਨੂ ਕੈਸੇ ਰੀਸੈ ॥ |
| neer bilovai ath sram paavai nainoo kaisae reesai || |
| The mortal may churn water until he is sore, but how can butter be produced? |

| ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਇਹੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥ |
| khojath khojath eihai beechaariou sarab sukhaa har naamaa || |
| Searching and searching, I have come to this realization: all peace and bliss are in the Name of the Lord. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਲੇਖੁ ਮਥਾਮਾ ॥੪॥੧੧॥ |

| Says Nanak, he alone receives it, upon whose forehead such destiny is inscribed. ||4||11|| |

| ਸਗਲ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਸਿਧਿ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sagal padhaarathh sarab sookh sidhh man baanshhath fal leheeai ||1|| rehaao || |
| You shall obtain all wealth, all pleasures and successes, and the fruits of your mind's desires. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥ |
| aavahu santh praan sukhadhaathae simareh prabh abinaasee || |
| Come, O Saints, let us meditate in remembrance on God; He is the Eternal, Imperishable Giver of Peace and Praanaa, the Breath of Life. |

| ਅਨਾਥਹ ਨਾਥੁ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਘਟ ਵਾਸੀ ॥੧॥ |
| anaathheh naathh dheen dhukh bhanjan poor rehiou ghatt vaasee ||1|| |
| Master of the masterless, Destroyer of the pains of the meek and the poor; He is All-pervading and permeating, abiding in all hearts. ||1|| |
|
| ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਸੁਨਾਵਤ ਸਰਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ॥ |
| gaavath sunath sunaavath saradhhaa har ras pee vaddabhaagae || |
| The very fortunate ones drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord, singing, reciting and listening to the Lord's Praises. |
|
| ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਜਾਗੇ ॥੨॥ |
| kal kalaes mittae sabh than thae raam naam liv jaagae ||2|| |
| All their sufferings and struggles are wiped away from their bodies; they remain lovingly awake and aware in the Name of the Lord. ||2|| |
|
| ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਤਜਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੂਟੇ ॥ |
| kaam krodhh jhooth thaj nindhaa har simaran bandhhan thoottae || |
| So abandon your sexual desire, greed, falsehood and slander; meditating in remembrance on the Lord, you shall be released from bondage. |

| ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਅਹੰ ਅੰਧ ਮਮਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਛੂਟੇ ॥੩॥ |
| moh magan ahan andhh mamathaa gur kirapaa thae shhoottae ||3|| |
| The intoxication of loving attachments, egotism and blind possessiveness are eradicated by Guru's Grace. ||3|| |

| ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ |
| thoo samarathh paarabreham suaamee kar kirapaa jan thaeraa || |
| You are All-Powerful, O Supreme Lord God and Master; please be Merciful to Your humble servant. |

| I meditate with Him on the Supreme Lord God; His Teachings have emancipated me. ||1||Pause|| |

| All pains, diseases and fears are erased, for one who comes to the Sanctuary of the Lord's Saints. |
