| No one listens to what he says; he is not allowed to sit anywhere. |

| ਈਹਾਂ ਦੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ਨਰਕੁ ਭੁੰਚੈ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਰਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
| eehaan dhukh aagai narak bhunchai bahu jonee bharamaavai ||1|| |
| He suffers in pain here, and falls into hell hereafter. He wanders in endless reincarnations. ||1|| |

| ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਖੰਡੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਪਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| pragatt bhaeiaa khanddee brehamanddee keethaa apanaa paaeiaa || |
| He has become infamous across worlds and galaxies; he receives according to what he has done. |

| pooran hoth n kathahu baathehi anth parathee haar ||1|| rehaao || |
| But it is not fulfilled at all, and in the end, it dies, exhausted. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੂਖ ਨ ਸਹਜੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਇਹੈ ਇਸੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਿ ॥ |

| It does not produce tranquility, peace and poise; this is the way it works. |

| ਆਪ ਪਰ ਕਾ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਹਿ ਜਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ |
| aap par kaa kashh n jaanai kaam krodhhehi jaar ||1|| |
| He does not know what belongs to him, and to others. He burns in sexual desire and anger. ||1|| |

| ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਦੁਖਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਓ ਦਾਸ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਤਾਰਿ ॥ |

| The world is enveloped by an ocean of pain; O Lord, please save Your slave! |

| ਨਿਮਖ ਘਰੀ ਨ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| nimakh gharee n simar suaamee jeeo pindd jin dheen ||1|| rehaao || |
| You do not contemplate your Lord and Master, even for an instant; it was He who gave you your body and soul. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਖਾਤ ਪੀਵਤ ਸਵੰਤ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਖੀਨ ॥ |
| khaath peevath savanth sukheeaa naam simarath kheen || |
| Eating, drinking and sleeping, you are happy, but contemplating the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you are miserable. |

| ਗਰਭ ਉਦਰ ਬਿਲਲਾਟ ਕਰਤਾ ਤਹਾਂ ਹੋਵਤ ਦੀਨ ॥੧॥ |
| garabh oudhar bilalaatt karathaa thehaan hovath dheen ||1|| |
| In the womb of your mother, you cried and whined like a wretch. ||1|| |
|
| ਮਹਾ ਮਾਦ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਬਾਧਾ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੀਨ ॥ |
| mehaa maadh bikaar baadhhaa anik jon bhrameen || |
| And now, bound by great pride and corruption, you shall wander in endless incarnations. |

| Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, my mind is fascinated, and evil-mindedness is taken away. ||1||Pause|| |

| He is Unfathomable, Incomprehensible, Exalted and High, Eternal and Imperishable; His worth cannot be appraised. |

| jal thhal paekh paekh man bigasiou poor rehiou srab mehee ||1|| |
| Gazing upon Him, gazing upon Him in the water and on the land, my mind has blossomed forth in ecstasy. He is totally pervading and permeating all. ||1|| |

| Merciful to the meek, my Beloved, Enticer of my mind; meeting with the Holy, He is known. |

| I have become spotless and pure, singing the Sacred Praises of the Lord; I shall never again be dirtied. |

| Taking me by the hand, He has given me everything; He has lit up my lamp. |

| Forsaking the Lord of the Universe, the Giver of souls, the mortal is engrossed and entangled in Maya. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਚਲਹਿ ਅਨ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਨਰਕ ਘੋਰ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ |

| Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he walks on some other path, and falls into the most horrible hell. |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਸਜਾਂਈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਗਰਭੈ ਗਰਭਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ |
| anik sajaanee ganath n aavai garabhai garabh bhramaahi ||1|| |
| He suffers uncounted punishments, and wanders from womb to womb in reincarnation. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤੇ ਸੇ ਪਤਿਵੰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| sae dhhanavanthae sae pathivanthae har kee saran samaahi || |
| They alone are wealthy, and they alone are honorable, who are absorbed in the Sanctuary of the Lord. |

| ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਤਿਓ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਂਹਿ ॥੨॥੮੮॥੧੧੧॥ |
| gur prasaadh naanak jag jeethiou bahur n aavehi jaanhi ||2||88||111|| |
| By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, they conquer the world; they do not come and go in reincarnation ever again. ||2||88||111|| |

| bhram ban dhehan bheae khin bheethar raam naam parehaar ||1|| rehaao || |
| The forest of doubt is burnt away in an instant, by the fire of the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੀਤਿਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ |
| janam padhaarathh guramukh jeethiaa bahur n jooai haar ||1|| |
| The Gurmukh is successful in this priceless human life; he shall not lose it in the gamble ever again. ||1|| |

| Twenty-four hours a day, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and contemplate the Perfect Word of the Shabad. |

| Servant Nanak is the slave of Your slaves; over and over again, he bows in humble reverence to You. ||2||89||112|| |

| saadhhasang gaavehi gun gobindh pooran breham giaan ||1|| rehaao || |
| Whoever sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, has the perfect knowledge of God. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਸਗਲ ਮੁਨਿ ਲੋਚਹਿ ਬਿਰਲੇ ਲਾਗੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥ |
| saadhhik sidhh sagal mun lochehi biralae laagai dhhiaan || |
| The Siddhas and seekers and all the silent sages long for the Lord, but those who meditate on Him are rare. |

| ਜਿਸਹਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ |
| jisehi kirapaal hoe maeraa suaamee pooran thaa ko kaam ||1|| |
| That person, unto whom my Lord and Master is merciful - all his tasks are perfectly accomplished. ||1|| |
