| sabadh marai thaa sabh kishh soojhai anadhin eaeko jaanai ||7|| |
| One who dies in the Shabad comes to know everything; night and day, he realizes the One Lord. ||7|| |

| jis no nadhar karae soee jan boojhai hor kehanaa kathhan n jaaee || |
| That humble being, upon whom the Lord casts His Glance of Grace, understands. Nothing else can be said. |

| O Nanak, those who are imbued with the Naam are forever detached from the world; they are lovingly attuned to the One Word of the Shabad. ||8||2|| |

| O my mind, the Speech of the Lord is unspoken. |

| ਹਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har nadhar karae soee jan paaeae guramukh viralai jaanee ||1|| rehaao || |
| That humble being who is blessed by the Lord's Glance of Grace, obtains it. How rare is that Gurmukh who understands. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥ |
| har gehir ganbheer gunee geheer gur kai sabadh pashhaaniaa || |
| The Lord is Deep, Profound and Unfathomable, the Ocean of Excellence; He is realized through the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਭਾਇ ਦੂਜੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਬਉਰਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| bahu bidhh karam karehi bhaae dhoojai bin sabadhai bouraaniaa ||1|| |
| Mortals do their deeds in all sorts of ways, in the love of duality; but without the Shabad, they are insane. ||1|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਮੈਲਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| har naam naavai soee jan niramal fir mailaa mool n hoee || |
| That humble being who bathes in the Lord's Name becomes immaculate; he never becomes polluted again. |

| ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਹੈ ਮੈਲਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੨॥ |
| naam binaa sabh jag hai mailaa dhoojai bharam path khoee ||2|| |
| Without the Name, the whole world is polluted; wandering in duality, it loses its honor. ||2|| |

| ਕਿਆ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਂ ਕਿਆ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਮੈ ਤਾ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| kiaa dhrirraan kiaa sangrehi thiaagee mai thaa boojh n paaee || |
| What should I grasp? What should I gather up or leave behind? I do not know. |

| ਹੋਹਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨਾਮੋ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| hohi dhaeiaal kirapaa kar har jeeo naamo hoe sakhaaee ||3|| |
| O Dear Lord, Your Name is the Help and Support of those whom You bless with Your kindness and compassion. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਇ ਲਾਏ ॥ |
| sachaa sach dhaathaa karam bidhhaathaa jis bhaavai this naae laaeae || |
| The True Lord is the True Giver, the Architect of Destiny; as He pleases, He links mortals to the Name. |

| ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੪॥ |
| guroo dhuaarai soee boojhai jis no aap bujhaaeae ||4|| |
| He alone comes to understand, who enters the Guru's Gate, whom the Lord Himself instructs. ||4|| |
|
| ਦੇਖਿ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਚੇਤੇ ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| dhaekh bisamaadh eihu man nehee chaethae aavaa goun sansaaraa || |
| Even gazing upon the wonders of the Lord, this mind does not think of Him. The world comes and goes in reincarnation. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੫॥ |
| sathigur saevae soee boojhai paaeae mokh dhuaaraa ||5|| |
| Serving the True Guru, the mortal comes to understand, and finds the Door of Salvation. ||5|| |
|
| ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦਰੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਸੇ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਗਾੜਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ |
| jinh dhar soojhai sae kadhae n vigaarrehi sathigur boojh bujhaaee || |
| Those who understand the Lord's Court, never suffer separation from him. The True Guru has imparted this understanding. |
|
| ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਰਹਾਈ ॥੬॥ |
| sach sanjam karanee kirath kamaavehi aavan jaan rehaaee ||6|| |
| They practice truth, self-restraint and good deeds; their comings and goings are ended. ||6|| |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਨਾ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੭॥ |
| manamukh dhoojai bharam bhulaaeae naa boojhehi veechaaraa ||7|| |
| The self-willed manmukhs wander, lost in doubt and duality. They do not know how to contemplate the Lord. ||7|| |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ॥ |
| aapae guramukh aapae dhaevai aapae kar kar vaekhai || |
| He Himself is the Gurmukh, and He Himself gives; He Himself creates and beholds. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਥਾਇ ਪਏ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ ਕੀ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਲੇਖੈ ॥੮॥੩॥ |

| The rulers and nobles and kings shall become beggars. Their ostentatious shows are false |

| ਹਮਰਾ ਰਾਜਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ |
| hamaraa raajan sadhaa salaamath thaa ko sagal ghattaa jas gaaeiou ||1|| |
| . My Sovereign Lord King is eternally stable. His Praises are sung in every heart. ||1|| |

| ਉਪਮਾ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਕਹਤ ਜੇਤ ਪਾਹੂਚਾ ॥ |

| Listen to the Praises of my Lord King, O Saints. I chant them as best I can. |

| ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰ ਵਡ ਸਾਹ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ਊਚੇ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥੨॥ |
| baesumaar vadd saah dhaathaaraa oochae hee thae oochaa ||2|| |
| My Lord King, the Great Giver, is Immeasurable. He is the Highest of the high. ||2|| |

| ਪਵਨਿ ਪਰੋਇਓ ਸਗਲ ਅਕਾਰਾ ਪਾਵਕ ਕਾਸਟ ਸੰਗੇ ॥ |

| He has strung His Breath throughout the creation; He locked the fire in the wood. |

| ਨੀਰੁ ਧਰਣਿ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਏਕਤ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਸੰਗੇ ॥੩॥ |
| neer dhharan kar raakhae eaekath koe n kis hee sangae ||3|| |
| He placed the water and the land together, but neither blends with the other. ||3|| |
|
| ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਕਥਾ ਰਾਜਨ ਕੀ ਚਾਲੈ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਉਮਾਹਾ ॥ |
| ghatt ghatt kathhaa raajan kee chaalai ghar ghar thujhehi oumaahaa || |
| In each and every heart, the Story of our Sovereign Lord is told; in each and every home, they yearn for Him. |
|
| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਪਾਛੈ ਕਰਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥੪॥ |
| jeea janth sabh paashhai kariaa prathhamae rijak samaahaa ||4|| |
| Afterwards, He created all beings and creatures; but first, He provided them with sustenance. ||4|| |
|
| ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਣਾ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਕਾਹੂ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ॥ |
| jo kishh karanaa s aapae karanaa masalath kaahoo dheenhee || |
| Whatever He does, He does by Himself. Who has ever given Him advice? |
|
| ਅਨਿਕ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਹ ਦਿਖਾਏ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਾਖੀ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ॥੫॥ |
| anik jathan kar kareh dhikhaaeae saachee saakhee cheenhee ||5|| |
| The mortals make all sorts of efforts and showy displays, but He is realized only through the Teachings of Truth. ||5|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਦੀਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ॥ |
| har bhagathaa kar raakhae apanae dheenee naam vaddaaee || |
| The Lord protects and saves His devotees; He blesses them with the glory of His Name. |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰੀ ਅਵਗਿਆ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਤੇ ਤੈਂ ਦੀਏ ਰੁੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਈ ॥੬॥ |
| jin jin karee avagiaa jan kee thae thain dheeeae rurrhaaee ||6|| |
| Whoever is disrespectful to the humble servant of the Lord, shall be swept away and destroyed. ||6|| |
|
| ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭਏ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਅਵਗਨ ਸਭਿ ਪਰਹਰਿਆ ॥ |
| mukath bheae saadhhasangath kar thin kae avagan sabh parehariaa || |
| Those who join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, are liberated; all their demerits are taken away. |

| ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਦੇਖਿ ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਤਿਨ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰਿਆ ॥੭॥ |

| Seeing them, God becomes merciful; they are carried across the terrifying world-ocean. ||7|| |

| ਹਮ ਨਾਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਨੀਚ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਬਡ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਉਣ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥ |
| ham naanhae neech thumaeh badd saahib kudharath koun beechaaraa || |
| I am lowly, I am nothing at all; You are my Great Lord and Master - how can I even contemplate Your creative potency? |

| With the healing ointment of spiritual wisdom, ignorance is dispelled. ||1|| |

| There is no limit to His Expanse. |
