| When perfect destiny is activated, the mortal meditates on the Formless Lord. |

| In Your Mercy, You care for all beings and creatures. |

| ਅੰਨੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਮੁਚੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਦੁਖ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਨਿ ਤਰੁ ॥ |
| ann paanee much oupaae dhukh dhaaladh bhann thar || |
| You produce corn and water in abundance; You eliminate pain and poverty, and carry all beings across. |

| ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਸੁਣੀ ਦਾਤਾਰਿ ਹੋਈ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਠਰੁ ॥ |

| The Great Giver listened to my prayer, and the world has been cooled and comforted. |

| Take me into Your Embrace, and take away all my pain. |

| Rain is falling from the clouds - it is so beautiful! The Creator Lord issued His Order. |

| ਰਿਜਕੁ ਉਪਾਇਓਨੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਠਾਂਢਿ ਪਈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥ |

| Grain has been produced in abundance; the world is cooled and comforted. |

| ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ |
| than man hariaa hoeiaa simarath agam apaar || |
| The mind and body are rejuvenated, meditating in remembrance on the Inaccessible and Infinite Lord. |

| O my True Creator Lord God, please shower Your Mercy on me. |

| Gazing upon Him through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I blossom forth in ecstasy; tranquility comes to my inner being. |

| He Himself is the Lord and Master of all. He has subdued all, and all are under the Hukam of His Command. |

| With a few pounds of grain and a few coins in your pocket, you are totally puffed up with pride. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁ ਗਾਂਉ ਸਉ ਪਾਏ ਦੁਇ ਲਖ ਟਕਾ ਬਰਾਤ ॥ |
| bahuth prathaap gaano so paaeae dhue lakh ttakaa baraath || |
| With great pomp and ceremony, you control a hundred villages, with an income of hundreds of thousands of dollars. |

| ਦਿਵਸ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਨ ਹਰ ਪਾਤ ॥੧॥ |
| dhivas chaar kee karahu saahibee jaisae ban har paath ||1|| |
| The power you exert will last for only a few days, like the green leaves of the forest. ||1|| |

| ਨਾ ਕੋਊ ਲੈ ਆਇਓ ਇਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਾ ਕੋਊ ਲੈ ਜਾਤੁ ॥ |
| naa kooo lai aaeiou eihu dhhan naa kooo lai jaath || |
| No one has brought this wealth with him, and no one will take it with him when he goes. |

| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਸਦਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਤ ॥ |
| har kae santh sadhaa thhir poojahu jo har naam japaath || |
| The Lord's Saints are steady and stable forever; they worship and adore Him, and chant the Lord's Name. |

| ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਤ ਹੈ ਗੋਬਿਦੁ ਤੇ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਤ ॥੩॥ |
| jin ko kirapaa karath hai gobidh thae sathasang milaath ||3|| |
| Those who are mercifully blessed by the Lord of the Universe, join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. ||3|| |

| ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਨ ਚਲਤ ਸੰਗਾਤ ॥ |
| maath pithaa banithaa suth sanpath anth n chalath sangaath || |
| Mother, father, spouse, children and wealth will not go along with you in the end. |

| ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਰਾਮ ਭਜੁ ਬਉਰੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਰਥ ਜਾਤ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
| kehath kabeer raam bhaj bourae janam akaarathh jaath ||4||1|| |
| Says Kabeer, meditate and vibrate on the Lord, O madman. Your life is uselessly wasting away. ||4||1|| |

| ਰਾਜਾਸ੍ਰਮ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ ਤੇਰੀ ॥ |

| I do not know the limits of Your Royal Ashram. |

| The one who goes laughing returns crying, and the one who goes crying returns laughing. |

| ਬਸਤੋ ਹੋਇ ਹੋਇ ਸ ਊਜਰੁ ਊਜਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਬਸੈ ॥੧॥ |
| basatho hoe hoe suo oojar oojar hoe s basai ||1|| |
| What is inhabited becomes deserted, and what is deserted becomes inhabited. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਲ ਤੇ ਥਲ ਕਰਿ ਥਲ ਤੇ ਕੂਆ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਮੇਰੁ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥ |
| jal thae thhal kar thhal thae kooaa koop thae maer karaavai || |
| The water turns into a desert, the desert turns into a well, and the well turns into a mountain. |

| ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਕਾਸਿ ਚਢਾਵੈ ਚਢੇ ਅਕਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ |
| dhharathee thae aakaas chadtaavai chadtae akaas giraavai ||2|| |
| From the earth, the mortal is exalted to the Akaashic ethers; and from the ethers on high, he is thrown down again. ||2|| |
|
| ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਰਾਜੁ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੇ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ॥ |
| bhaekhaaree thae raaj karaavai raajaa thae bhaekhaaree || |
| The beggar is transformed into a king, and the king into a beggar. |
|
| ਖਲ ਮੂਰਖ ਤੇ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਕਰਿਬੋ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਤੇ ਮੁਗਧਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ |
| khal moorakh thae panddith karibo panddith thae mugadhhaaree ||3|| |
| The idiotic fool is transformed into a Pandit, a religious scholar, and the Pandit into a fool. ||3|| |
|
| ਨਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਪੁਰਖਨ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਨਾਰੀ ॥ |

| The woman is transformed into a man, and the men into women. |

| ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੨॥ |
