| bikh maaeiaa sanch bahu chithai bikaar sukh paaeeai har bhaj santh santh sangathee mil sathiguroo gur saadhho || |
| Collecting the poison of Maya, people think of all sorts of evil. But peace is found only by vibrating and meditating on the Lord; with the Saints, in the Sangat, the Society of the Saints, meet the True Guru, the Holy Guru. |

| ਜਿਉ ਛੁਹਿ ਪਾਰਸ ਮਨੂਰ ਭਏ ਕੰਚਨ ਤਿਉ ਪਤਿਤ ਜਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਸੁਧ ਹੋਵਤ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸੁਧ ਹਾਧੋ ॥੧॥ |
| jio shhuhi paaras manoor bheae kanchan thio pathith jan mil sangathee sudhh hovath guramathee sudhh haadhho ||1|| |
| Just as when the iron slag is transmuted into gold by touching the Philosopher's Stone - when the sinner joins the Sangat, he becomes pure, through the Guru's Teachings. ||1|| |

| ਜਿਉ ਕਾਸਟ ਸੰਗਿ ਲੋਹਾ ਬਹੁ ਤਰਤਾ ਤਿਉ ਪਾਪੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੇ ਸਾਧ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧੋ ॥ |
| jio kaasatt sang lohaa bahu tharathaa thio paapee sang tharae saadhh saadhh sangathee gur sathiguroo gur saadhho || |
| Just like the heavy iron which is carried across on the wooden raft, sinners are carried across in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and the Guru, the True Guru, the Holy Guru. |

| ਚਾਰਿ ਬਰਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਆਸ੍ਰਮ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਕੁਲ ਸਗਲ ਤਰਾਧੋ ॥੨॥੫॥੧੧॥ |
| chaar baran chaar aasram hai koee milai guroo gur naanak so aap tharai kul sagal tharaadhho ||2||5||11|| |
| There are four castes, four social classes, and four stages of life. Whoever meets the Guru, Guru Nanak, is himself carried across, and he carries all his ancestors and generations across as well. ||2||5||11|| |

| Singing His Praises, sins are washed away. |

| ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਜਸੁ ਕਾਨ ॥ |

| Through the Word of the Guru's Teachings, listen to His Praises with your ears. |

| ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕ ਚਿਤਿ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥ |
| thaerae jan dhhiaavehi eik man eik chith thae saadhhoo sukh paavehi jap har har naam nidhhaan || |
| Your humble servants focus their consciousness and meditate on You with one-pointed mind; those Holy beings find peace, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the Treasure of Bliss. |

| ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੧॥ |
| ousathath karehi prabh thaereeaa mil saadhhoo saadhh janaa gur sathiguroo bhagavaan ||1|| |
| They sing Your Praises, God, meeting with the Holy, the Holy people, and the Guru, the True Guru, O Lord God. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਤੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਤੇ ਤਰੇ ਭਵ ਸਿੰਧੁ ਤੇ ਭਗਤ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨ ॥ |
| jin kai hiradhai thoo suaamee thae sukh fal paavehi thae tharae bhav sindhh thae bhagath har jaan || |
| They alone obtain the fruit of peace, within whose hearts You, O my Lord and Master, abide. They cross over the terrifying world-ocean - they are known as the Lord's devotees. |

| ਦੁਖ ਬਿਦਾਰਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਇ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਧਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| dhukh bidhaaran sukhadhaathae sathigur jaa ko bhaettath hoe sagal sidhh ||1|| rehaao || |
| The True Guru is the Destroyer of pain, the Giver of peace; meeting Him, one is totally fulfilled. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਾਧਾਰੈ ॥ |
| simarath naam manehi saadhhaarai || |
| Meditate in remembrance on the Naam, the Support of the mind. |

| ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਧੀ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ |
| kott paraadhhee khin mehi thaarai ||1|| |
| Millions of sinners are carried across in an instant. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਾ ਕਉ ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥ |
| jaa ko cheeth aavai gur apanaa || |
| Whoever remembers his Guru, |
|
| ਤਾ ਕਉ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਸੁਪਨਾ ॥੨॥ |
| thaa ko dhookh nehee thil supanaa ||2|| |
| shall not suffer sorrow, even in dreams. ||2|| |
|
| ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਰਾਖੈ ॥ |
| jaa ko sathigur apanaa raakhai || |
| Whoever keeps his Guru enshrined within |
|
| ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਚਾਖੈ ॥੩॥ |
| so jan har ras rasanaa chaakhai ||3|| |
| - that humble being tastes the sublime essence of the Lord with his tongue. ||3|| |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਮਇਆ ॥ |
| kahu naanak gur keenee maeiaa || |
| Says Nanak, the Guru has been Kind to me; |

| ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਇਆ ॥੪॥੧॥ |

| ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| oothath baithath sovath jaagath saas saas saas har japanae ||1|| rehaao || |
| Standing up and sitting down, while sleeping and awake, with each and every breath, I meditate on the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਤਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ |
| thaa kai hiradhai basiou naam || |
| The Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides within the hearts of those, |
|
| ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ |
| jaa ko suaamee keeno dhaan ||1|| |
| whose Lord and Master blesses them with this gift. ||1|| |
|
| ਤਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਆਈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥ |
| thaa kai hiradhai aaee saanth || |
| Peace and tranquility come into the hearts of those |
|
| ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਾਂਤਿ ॥੨॥ |
| thaakur bhaettae gur bachanaanth ||2|| |
| who meet their Lord and Master, through the Word of the Guru. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸੋਈ ਪਰਬੀਨ ॥ਨਾਮ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨ ॥੩॥ |
| sarab kalaa soee parabeen || naam manthra jaa ko gur dheen ||3|| |
| Those whom the Guru blesses with the Mantra of the Naam are wise, and blessed with all powers,. ||3|| |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ |
| kahu naanak thaa kai bal jaao || |
| Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those |

| ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਉ ॥੪॥੨॥ |

| who are blessed with the Name in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ||4||2|| |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਊਹਾਂ ਚਰਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜੀ ਕੇ ਬਸਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| anik baar kar bandhan santhan oohaan charan gobindh jee kae basanaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| Humbly bow to the Saints, over and over again; through them, the Feet of the Lord of the Universe shall come to abide within you. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੁਆਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਉ ॥ |
| anik bhaanth kar dhuaar n paavo || |
| The Door to the Lord cannot be found by any other means. |

| ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥੧॥ |
| hoe kirapaal th har har dhhiaavo ||1|| |
| When He becomes Merciful, we come to meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. ||1|| |
|
| ਕੋਟਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਹ ਨ ਸੋਧਾ ॥ |
| kott karam kar dhaeh n sodhhaa || |
| The body is not purified by millions of rituals. |
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਬੋਧਾ ॥੨॥ |
| saadhhasangath mehi man parabodhhaa ||2|| |
| The mind is awakened and enlightened only in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2|| |

| ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨ ਬੂਝੀ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| thrisan n boojhee bahu rang maaeiaa || |
| Thirst and desire are not quenched by enjoying the many pleasures of Maya. |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| naam laith sarab sukh paaeiaa ||3|| |
| Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, total peace is found. ||3|| |
|
| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| paarabreham jab bheae dhaeiaal || |
| When the Supreme Lord God becomes Merciful, |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਉ ਛੂਟੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥੪॥੩॥ |
| kahu naanak tho shhoottae janjaal ||4||3|| |
| says Nanak, then one is rid of worldly entanglements. ||4||3|| |

| ttehal santhan kee sang saadhhoo kaa har naamaan jap param gathae ||1|| rehaao || |
| to work for the Saints, and the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Chanting the Name of the Lord, the supreme status is obtained. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਪੂਜਾ ਚਰਨਾ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਰਨਾ ॥ |
| poojaa charanaa thaakur saranaa || |
| Worship the Feet of Your Lord and Master, and seek His Sanctuary. |

| ਸੋਈ ਕੁਸਲੁ ਜੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਕਰਨਾ ॥੧॥ |

| Take joy in whatever God does. ||1|| |
