| Yoga, thrills, delicious flavors and ecstasy; |

| math sath bhaae bhagath gobindhaa || |
| wisdom, truth and love all come from devotion to the Lord of the Universe. |

| ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਰ ਨਿਜ ਸੰਦਾ ॥ |
| keerath karam kaar nij sandhaa || |
| My own occupation is to work to praise the Lord. |

| Deep within, I dwell on the Lord of the sun and the moon. ||2|| |

| I have lovingly enshrined the love of my Beloved within my heart. |

| ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥੁ ਪੀਉ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥ |

| My Husband Lord, the Lord of the World, is the Master of the meek and the poor. |

| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਬ੍ਰਤਕਾਰੀ ॥ |
| anadhin naam dhaan brathakaaree || |
| Night and day, the Naam is my giving in charity and fasting. |
|
| ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਤਰੰਗ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ |
| thripath tharang thath beechaaree ||3|| |
| The waves have subsided, contemplating the essence of reality. ||3|| |

| ਅਕਥੌ ਕਥਉ ਕਿਆ ਮੈ ਜੋਰੁ ॥ |
| akathha kathho kiaa mai jor || |
| What power do I have to speak the Unspoken? |
|
| ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਕਰਾਇਹਿ ਮੋਰ ॥ |
| bhagath karee karaaeihi mor || |
| I worship You with devotion; You inspire me to do so. |
|
| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਚੂਕੈ ਮੈ ਮੋਰ ॥ |
| anthar vasai chookai mai mor || |
| You dwell deep within; my egotism is dispelled. |
|
| ਕਿਸੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ॥੪॥ |
| kis saevee dhoojaa nehee hor ||4|| |
| So whom should I serve? There is no other than You. ||4|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ॥ |
| gur kaa sabadh mehaa ras meethaa || |
| The Word of the Guru's Shabad is utterly sweet and sublime. |

| ਐਸਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਡੀਠਾ ॥ |
| aisaa anmrith anthar ddeethaa || |
| Such is the Ambrosial Nectar I see deep within. |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| jin chaakhiaa pooraa padh hoe || |
| Those who taste this, attain the state of perfection. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਧ੍ਰਾਪਿਓ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥੧੪॥ |

| Deep within, I see the Shabad, the Word of God; my mind is pleased and appeased. Nothing else can touch and imbue me. |

| ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜੀਆ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਸਰਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ |
| ahinis jeeaa dhaekh samaalae this hee kee sarakaaraa ||1|| |
| Day and night, God watches over and cares for His beings and creatures; He is the Ruler of all. ||1|| |

| ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਂਗਿ ਘਣੌ ਅਤਿ ਰੂੜੌ ॥ |

| My God is dyed in the most beautiful and glorious color. |

| ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਨਮੋਹਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਰਸ ਲਾਲ ਸਗੂੜੌ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| dheen dhaeiaal preetham manamohan ath ras laal sagoorra ||1|| rehaao || |
| Merciful to the meek and the poor, my Beloved is the Enticer of the mind; He is so very sweet, imbued with the deep crimson color of His Love. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਊਪਰਿ ਕੂਪੁ ਗਗਨ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ |
| oopar koop gagan panihaaree anmrith peevanehaaraa || |
| The Well is high up in the Tenth Gate; the Ambrosial Nectar flows, and I drink it in. |

| ਪਸਰੀ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਰਸਿ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸੇ ਸਸਿ ਘਰਿ ਸੂਰੁ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| pasaree kiran ras kamal bigaasae sas ghar soor samaaeiaa || |
| The rays of light spread out, and the heart-lotus joyfully blossoms forth; the sun enters into the house of the moon. |

| ਕਾਲੁ ਬਿਧੁੰਸਿ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| kaal bidhhuns manasaa man maaree gur prasaadh prabh paaeiaa ||3|| |
| I have conquered death; the desires of the mind are destroyed. By Guru's Grace, I have found God. ||3|| |

| ਅਤਿ ਰਸਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਰਾਤੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
| ath ras rang chaloolai raathee dhoojaa rang n koee || |
| I am dyed in the deep crimson color of His Love. I am not colored by any other color. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਰਸਨਿ ਰਸਾਏ ਰਾਤੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੪॥੧੫॥ |

| O Nanak, my tongue is saturated with the taste of God, who is permeating and pervading everywhere. ||4||15|| |

| baareh mehi raaval khap jaavehi chahu shhia mehi sanniaasee || |
| The Yogis are divided into twelve schools, the Sannyaasees into ten. |

| ਜੋਗੀ ਕਾਪੜੀਆ ਸਿਰਖੂਥੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਗਲਿ ਫਾਸੀ ॥੧॥ |
| jogee kaaparreeaa sirakhoothhae bin sabadhai gal faasee ||1|| |
| The Yogis and those wearing religious robes, and the Jains with their all hair plucked out - without the Word of the Shabad, the noose is around their necks. ||1|| |

| ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥ |
| sabadh rathae poorae bairaagee || |
| Those who are imbued with the Shabad are the perfectly detached renunciates. |

| ਅਉਹਠਿ ਹਸਤ ਮਹਿ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਜਾਚੀ ਏਕ ਭਾਇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| aouhath hasath mehi bheekhiaa jaachee eaek bhaae liv laagee ||1|| rehaao || |
| They beg to receive charity in the hands of their hearts, embracing love and affection for the One. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬ੍ਰਹਮਣ ਵਾਦੁ ਪੜਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਾਏ ॥ |
| brehaman vaadh parrehi kar kiriaa karanee karam karaaeae || |
| The Brahmins study and argue about the scriptures; they perform ceremonial rituals, and lead others in these rituals. |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੨॥ |
| bin boojhae kishh soojhai naahee manamukh vishhurr dhukh paaeae ||2|| |
| Without true understanding, those self-willed manmukhs understand nothing. Separated from God, they suffer in pain. ||2|| |

| ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇ ਸੂਚਾਚਾਰੀ ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੇ ॥ |
| sabadh milae sae soochaachaaree saachee dharageh maanae || |
| Those who receive the Shabad are sanctified and pure; they are approved in the True Court. |

| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥੩॥ |
| anadhin naam rathan liv laagae jug jug saach samaanae ||3|| |
| Night and day, they remain lovingly attuned to the Naam; throughout the ages, they are merged in the True One. ||3|| |

| ਸਗਲੇ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਸੁਚਿ ਸੰਜਮ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਸੇ ॥ |
| sagalae karam dhharam such sanjam jap thap theerathh sabadh vasae || |
| Good deeds, righteousness and Dharmic faith, purification, austere self-discipline, chanting, intense meditation and pilgrimages to sacred shrines - all these abide in the Shabad. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਦੂਖ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਕਾਲ ਨਸੇ ॥੪॥੧੬॥ |

| O Nanak, united in union with the True Guru, suffering, sin and death run away. ||4||16|| |

| The dust of the feet of the Saints, the Company of the Holy, and the Praises of the Lord carry us across to the other side. |

| ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਜਮੁ ਡਰਪੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| kehaa karai bapuraa jam ddarapai guramukh ridhai muraaree ||1|| |
| What can the wretched, terrified Messenger of Death do to the Gurmukhs? The Lord abides in their hearts. ||1|| |

| ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ॥ |
| jal jaao jeevan naam binaa || |
| Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, life might just as well be burnt down. |

| ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਾਪੁ ਜਪਉ ਜਪਮਾਲੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਵੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har jap jaap japo japamaalee guramukh aavai saadh manaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| The Gurmukh chants and meditates on the Lord, chanting the chant on the mala; the Flavor of the Lord comes into the mind. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸ ਸਾਚੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਹੀਐ ॥ |
| gur oupadhaes saach sukh jaa ko kiaa this oupamaa keheeai || |
| Those who follow the Guru's Teachings find true peace - how can I even describe the glory of such a person? |

| ਲਾਲ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਖੋਜਤ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਹੀਐ ॥੨॥ |

| The Gurmukh seeks and finds the gems and jewels, diamonds, rubies and treasures. ||2|| |

| ਚੀਨੈ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਚੌ ਏਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥ |
| cheenai giaan dhhiaan dhhan saacha eaek sabadh liv laavai || |
| So center yourself on the treasures of spiritual wisdom and meditation; remain lovingly attuned to the One True Lord, and the Word of His Shabad. |

| ਨਿਰਾਲੰਬੁ ਨਿਰਹਾਰੁ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ |
| niraalanb nirehaar nihakaeval nirabho thaarree laavai ||3|| |
| Remain absorbed in the Primal State of the Fearless, Immaculate, Independent, Self-sufficient Lord. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਾਇਰ ਸਪਤ ਭਰੇ ਜਲ ਨਿਰਮਲਿ ਉਲਟੀ ਨਾਵ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥ |
| saaeir sapath bharae jal niramal oulattee naav tharaavai || |
| The seven seas are overflowing with the Immaculate Water; the inverted boat floats across. |

| ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਤੌ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੪॥ |
| baahar jaatha thaak rehaavai guramukh sehaj samaavai ||4|| |
| The mind which wandered in external distractions is restrained and held in check; the Gurmukh is intuitively absorbed in God. ||4|| |
|
| ਸੋ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਸੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥ |
| so girehee so dhaas oudhaasee jin guramukh aap pashhaaniaa || |
| He is a householder, he is a renunciate and God's slave, who, as Gurmukh, realizes his own self. |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੫॥੧੭॥ |
| naanak kehai avar nehee dhoojaa saach sabadh man maaniaa ||5||17|| |
| Says Nanak, his mind is pleased and appeased by the True Word of the Shabad; there is no other at all. ||5||17|| |
