| kabeer maaree maro kusang kee kaelae nikatt j baer || |
| Kabeer, I have been ruined and destroyed by bad company, like the banana plant near the thorn bush. |

| ਉਹ ਝੂਲੈ ਉਹ ਚੀਰੀਐ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਹੇਰਿ ॥੮੮॥ |
| ouh jhoolai ouh cheereeai saakath sang n haer ||88|| |
| The thorn bush waves in the wind, and pierces the banana plant; see this, and do not associate with the faithless cynics. ||88|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਭਾਰ ਪਰਾਈ ਸਿਰਿ ਚਰੈ ਚਲਿਓ ਚਾਹੈ ਬਾਟ ॥ |
| kabeer bhaar paraaee sir charai chaliou chaahai baatt || |
| Kabeer, the mortal wants to walk on the path, carrying the load of others' sins on his head. |

| ਅਪਨੇ ਭਾਰਹਿ ਨਾ ਡਰੈ ਆਗੈ ਅਉਘਟ ਘਾਟ ॥੮੯॥ |
| apanae bhaarehi naa ddarai aagai aoughatt ghaatt ||89|| |
| He is not afraid of his own load of sins; the road ahead shall be difficult and treacherous. ||89|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਬਨ ਕੀ ਦਾਧੀ ਲਾਕਰੀ ਠਾਢੀ ਕਰੈ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥ |
| kabeer ban kee dhaadhhee laakaree thaadtee karai pukaar || |
| Kabeer, the forest is burning; the tree standing in it is crying out, |

| ਮਤਿ ਬਸਿ ਪਰਉ ਲੁਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਜਾਰੈ ਦੂਜੀ ਬਾਰ ॥੯੦॥ |
| math bas paro luhaar kae jaarai dhoojee baar ||90|| |
| "Do not let me fall into the hands of the blacksmith, who would burn me a second time."||90|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਏਕ ਮਰੰਤੇ ਦੁਇ ਮੂਏ ਦੋਇ ਮਰੰਤਹ ਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
| kabeer eaek maranthae dhue mooeae dhoe marantheh chaar || |
| Kabeer, when one died, two were dead. When two died, four were dead. |

| ਚਾਰਿ ਮਰੰਤਹ ਛਹ ਮੂਏ ਚਾਰਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੁਇ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੯੧॥ |
| chaar marantheh shheh mooeae chaar purakh dhue naar ||91|| |
| When four died, six were dead, four males and two females. ||91|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਦੇਖਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਗੁ ਢੂੰਢਿਆ ਕਹੂੰ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਠਉਰੁ ॥ |
| kabeer dhaekh dhaekh jag dtoondtiaa kehoon n paaeiaa thour || |
| Kabeer, I have seen and observed, and searched all over the world, but I have found no place of rest anywhere. |

| ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਕਹਾ ਭੁਲਾਨੇ ਅਉਰ ॥੯੨॥ |
| jin har kaa naam n chaethiou kehaa bhulaanae aour ||92|| |
| Those who do not remember the Lord's Name - why do they delude themselves in other pursuits? ||92|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਰੀਐ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਅੰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਰਬਾਹੁ ॥ |
| kabeer sangath kareeai saadhh kee anth karai nirabaahu || |
| Kabeer, associate with the Holy people, who will take you to Nirvaanaa in the end. |

| ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੀਐ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਨਾਹੁ ॥੯੩॥ |
| saakath sang n keejeeai jaa thae hoe binaahu ||93|| |
| Do not associate with the faithless cynics; they would bring you to ruin. ||93|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਜਾਨਿ ਕੈ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ |
| kabeer jag mehi chaethiou jaan kai jag mehi rehiou samaae || |
| Kabeer, I contemplate the Lord in the world; I know that He is permeating the world. |

| ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਬਾਦਹਿ ਜਨਮੇਂ ਆਇ ॥੯੪॥ |
| jin har kaa naam n chaethiou baadhehi janamaen aae ||94|| |
| Those who do not contemplate the Name of the Lord - their birth into this world is useless. ||94|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਆਸਾ ਕਰੀਐ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਅਵਰੈ ਆਸ ਨਿਰਾਸ ॥ |
| kabeer aasaa kareeai raam kee avarai aas niraas || |
| Kabeer, place your hopes in the Lord; other hopes lead to despair. |

| ਨਰਕਿ ਪਰਹਿ ਤੇ ਮਾਨਈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਉਦਾਸ ॥੯੫॥ |
| narak parehi thae maanee jo har naam oudhaas ||95|| |
| Those who dissociate themselves from the Lord's Name - when they fall into hell, then they will appreciate its value. ||95|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਸਿਖ ਸਾਖਾ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਕੀਏ ਕੇਸੋ ਕੀਓ ਨ ਮੀਤੁ ॥ |
| kabeer sikh saakhaa bahuthae keeeae kaeso keeou n meeth || |
| Kabeer has made many students and disciples, but he has not made God his friend. |
|
| ਚਾਲੇ ਥੇ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਨ ਕਉ ਬੀਚੈ ਅਟਕਿਓ ਚੀਤੁ ॥੯੬॥ |
| chaalae thhae har milan ko beechai attakiou cheeth ||96|| |
| He set out on a journey to meet the Lord, but his consciousness failed him half-way. ||96|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾਰਨੁ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ ਜਉ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਕਰੈ ਸਹਾਇ ॥ |
| kabeer kaaran bapuraa kiaa karai jo raam n karai sehaae || |
| Kabeer, what can the poor creature do, if the Lord does not give him assistance? |
|
| ਜਿਹ ਜਿਹ ਡਾਲੀ ਪਗੁ ਧਰਉ ਸੋਈ ਮੁਰਿ ਮੁਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੯੭॥ |
| jih jih ddaalee pag dhharo soee mur mur jaae ||97|| |
| Whatever branch he steps on breaks and collapses. ||97|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਅਵਰਹ ਕਉ ਉਪਦੇਸਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਮੈ ਪਰਿ ਹੈ ਰੇਤੁ ॥ |
| kabeer avareh ko oupadhaesathae mukh mai par hai raeth || |
| Kabeer, those who only preach to others - sand falls into their mouths. |
|
| ਰਾਸਿ ਬਿਰਾਨੀ ਰਾਖਤੇ ਖਾਯਾ ਘਰ ਕਾ ਖੇਤੁ ॥੯੮॥ |
| raas biraanee raakhathae khaayaa ghar kaa khaeth ||98|| |
| They keep their eyes on the property of others, while their own farm is being eaten up. ||98|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਹਉ ਜਉ ਕੀ ਭੂਸੀ ਖਾਉ ॥ |
| kabeer saadhhoo kee sangath reho jo kee bhoosee khaao || |
| Kabeer, I will remain in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, even if I have only coarse bread to eat. |

| ਹੋਨਹਾਰੁ ਸੋ ਹੋਇਹੈ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਜਾਉ ॥੯੯॥ |
| honehaar so hoeihai saakath sang n jaao ||99|| |
| Whatever will be, will be. I will not associate with the faithless cynics. ||99|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਦਿਨ ਦਿਨ ਦੂਨਾ ਹੇਤੁ ॥ |
| kabeer sangath saadhh kee dhin dhin dhoonaa haeth || |
| Kabeer, in the Saadh Sangat, love for the Lord doubles day by day. |

| ਸਾਕਤ ਕਾਰੀ ਕਾਂਬਰੀ ਧੋਏ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਸੇਤੁ ॥੧੦੦॥ |
| saakath kaaree kaanbaree dhhoeae hoe n saeth ||100|| |
| The faithless cynic is like a black blanket, which does not become white by being washed. ||100|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਮਨੁ ਮੂੰਡਿਆ ਨਹੀ ਕੇਸ ਮੁੰਡਾਏ ਕਾਂਇ ॥ |
| kabeer man moonddiaa nehee kaes munddaaeae kaane || |
| Kabeer, you have not shaved your mind, so why do you shave your head? |
|
| ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਮਨ ਕੀਆ ਮੂੰਡਾ ਮੂੰਡੁ ਅਜਾਂਇ ॥੧੦੧॥ |
| jo kishh keeaa so man keeaa moonddaa moondd ajaane ||101|| |
| Whatever is done, is done by the mind; it is useless to shave your head. ||101|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਜਾਇ ਤ ਜਾਉ ॥ |
| kabeer raam n shhoddeeai than dhhan jaae th jaao || |
| Kabeer, do not abandon the Lord; your body and wealth shall go, so let them go. |

| ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਚਿਤੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਰਾਮਹਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੧੦੨॥ |
| charan kamal chith baedhhiaa raamehi naam samaao ||102|| |
| My consciousness is pierced by the Lord's Lotus Feet; I am absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||102|| |

| ਕਬੀਰ ਜੋ ਹਮ ਜੰਤੁ ਬਜਾਵਤੇ ਟੂਟਿ ਗਈਂ ਸਭ ਤਾਰ ॥ |
| kabeer jo ham janth bajaavathae ttoott geen sabh thaar || |
| Kabeer, all the strings of the instrument I played are broken. |
|
| ਜੰਤੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ ਚਲੇ ਬਜਾਵਨਹਾਰ ॥੧੦੩॥ |
| janth bichaaraa kiaa karai chalae bajaavanehaar ||103|| |
| What can the poor instrument do, when the player has departed as well. ||103|| |
|
| ਆਪ ਡੁਬੇ ਚਹੁ ਬੇਦ ਮਹਿ ਚੇਲੇ ਦੀਏ ਬਹਾਇ ॥੧੦੪॥ |
| aap ddubae chahu baedh mehi chaelae dheeeae behaae ||104|| |
| He himself is drowning in the four Vedas; he drowns his disciples as well. ||104|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਜੇਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਏ ਰਾਖੇ ਤਲੈ ਦੁਰਾਇ ॥ |
| kabeer jaethae paap keeeae raakhae thalai dhuraae || |
| Kabeer, whatever sins the mortal has committed, he tries to keep hidden under cover. |
|
| ਪਰਗਟ ਭਏ ਨਿਦਾਨ ਸਭ ਜਬ ਪੂਛੇ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ॥੧੦੫॥ |
| paragatt bheae nidhaan sabh jab pooshhae dhharam raae ||105|| |
| But in the end, they shall all be revealed, when the Righteous Judge of Dharma investigates. ||105|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਪਾਲਿਓ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ॥ |
| kabeer har kaa simaran shhaadd kai paaliou bahuth kuttanb || |
| Kabeer, you have given up meditating on the Lord, and you have raised a large family. |
|
| ਧੰਧਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਰਹਿ ਗਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਰਹਿਆ ਨ ਬੰਧੁ ॥੧੦੬॥ |
| dhhandhhaa karathaa rehi gaeiaa bhaaee rehiaa n bandhh ||106|| |
| You continue to involve yourself in worldly affairs, but none of your brothers and relatives remain. ||106|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਰਾਤਿ ਜਗਾਵਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| kabeer har kaa simaran shhaadd kai raath jagaavan jaae || |
| Kabeer, those who give up meditation on the Lord, and get up at night to wake the spirits of the dead, |
|
| ਸਰਪਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਅਉਤਰੈ ਜਾਏ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਖਾਇ ॥੧੦੭॥ |
| sarapan hoe kai aoutharai jaaeae apunae khaae ||107|| |
| shall be reincarnated as snakes, and eat their own offspring. ||107|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਕੈ ਅਹੋਈ ਰਾਖੈ ਨਾਰਿ ॥ |
| kabeer har kaa simaran shhaadd kai ahoee raakhai naar || |
| Kabeer, the woman who gives up meditation on the Lord, and observes the ritual fast of Ahoi, |
|
| ਗਦਹੀ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਅਉਤਰੈ ਭਾਰੁ ਸਹੈ ਮਨ ਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੦੮॥ |
| gadhehee hoe kai aoutharai bhaar sehai man chaar ||108|| |
| shall be reincarnated as a donkey, to carry heavy burdens. ||108|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਅਤਿ ਘਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| kabeer chathuraaee ath ghanee har jap hiradhai maahi || |
| Kabeer, it is the most clever wisdom, to chant and meditate on the Lord in the heart. |
|
| ਸੂਰੀ ਊਪਰਿ ਖੇਲਨਾ ਗਿਰੈ ਤ ਠਾਹਰ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧੦੯॥ |
| sooree oopar khaelanaa girai th thaahar naahi ||109|| |
| It is like playing on a pig; if you fall off, you will find no place of rest. ||109|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਸ+ਈ ਮੁਖੁ ਧੰਨਿ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਰਾਮੁ ॥ |
| kabeer suoee mukh dhhann hai jaa mukh keheeai raam || |
| Kabeer, blessed is that mouth, which utters the Lord's Name. |
|
| ਦੇਹੀ ਕਿਸ ਕੀ ਬਾਪੁਰੀ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹੋਇਗੋ ਗ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥੧੧੦॥ |
| dhaehee kis kee baapuree pavithra hoeigo graam ||110|| |
| It purifies the body, and the whole village as well. ||110|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਸੋਈ ਕੁਲ ਭਲੀ ਜਾ ਕੁਲ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਦਾਸੁ ॥ |
| kabeer soee kul bhalee jaa kul har ko dhaas || |
| Kabeer, that family is good, in which the Lord's slave is born. |
|
| ਜਿਹ ਕੁਲ ਦਾਸੁ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਸੋ ਕੁਲ ਢਾਕੁ ਪਲਾਸੁ ॥੧੧੧॥ |
| jih kul dhaas n oopajai so kul dtaak palaas ||111|| |
| But that family in which the Lord's slave is not born is as useless as weeds. ||111|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਹੈ ਗਇ ਬਾਹਨ ਸਘਨ ਘਨ ਲਾਖ ਧਜਾ ਫਹਰਾਹਿ ॥ |
| kabeer hai gae baahan saghan ghan laakh dhhajaa feharaahi || |
| Kabeer, some have lots of horses, elephants and carriages, and thousands of banners waving. |
|
| ਇਆ ਸੁਖ ਤੇ ਭਿਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾ ਭਲੀ ਜਉ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦਿਨ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧੧੨॥ |
| eiaa sukh thae bhikhyaa bhalee jo har simarath dhin jaahi ||112|| |
| But begging is better than these comforts, if one spends his days meditating in remembrance on the Lord. ||112|| |
|
| ਕਬੀਰ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਹਉ ਫਿਰਿਓ ਮਾਂਦਲੁ ਕੰਧ ਚਢਾਇ ॥ |
| kabeer sabh jag ho firiou maandhal kandhh chadtaae || |
| Kabeer, I have wandered all over the world, carrying the drum on my shoulder. |
