| O mortal being, do not leave this path; do not think that there is any difference between God and Guru. |

| parathashh ridhai gur arajun kai har pooran breham nivaas leeao ||5|| |
| The Perfect Lord God has manifested Himself; He dwells in the heart of Guru Arjun. ||5|| |

| ਜਬ ਲਉ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਲਾਰ ਉਦੈ ਤਬ ਲਉ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਫਿਰਤੇ ਬਹੁ ਧਾਯਉ ॥ |
| jab lo nehee bhaag lilaar oudhai thab lo bhramathae firathae bahu dhhaayo || |
| As long as the destiny written upon my forehead was not activated, I wandered around lost, running in all directions. |

| ਕਲਿ ਘੋਰ ਸਮੁਦ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਬੂਡਤ ਥੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਮਿਟਿ ਹੈ ਨਹੀ ਰੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਯਉ ॥ |
| kal ghor samudhr mai booddath thhae kabehoo mitt hai nehee rae pashhuthaayo || |
| I was drowning in the horrible world-ocean of this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, and my remorse would never have ended. |

| ਤਤੁ ਬਿਚਾਰੁ ਯਹੈ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਜਗ ਤਾਰਨ ਕਉ ਅਵਤਾਰੁ ਬਨਾਯਉ ॥ |
| thath bichaar yehai mathhuraa jag thaaran ko avathaar banaayo || |
| O Mat'huraa, consider this essential truth: to save the world, the Lord incarnated Himself. |

| ਜਪ੍ਯ੍ਯਉ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਦੇਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੰਕਟ ਜੋਨਿ ਗਰਭ ਨ ਆਯਉ ॥੬॥ |
| japyo jinh arajun dhaev guroo fir sankatt jon garabh n aayo ||6|| |
| Whoever meditates on Guru Arjun Dayv, shall not have to pass through the painful womb of reincarnation ever again. ||6|| |

| ਕਲਿ ਸਮੁਦ੍ਰ ਭਏ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਉਧਾਰਨੁ ॥ |
| kal samudhr bheae roop pragatt har naam oudhhaaran || |
| In the ocean of this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Lord's Name has been revealed in the Form of Guru Arjun, to save the world. |

| ਬਸਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਦੁਖ ਦਾਰਿਦ੍ਰ ਨਿਵਾਰਨੁ ॥ |
| basehi santh jis ridhai dhukh dhaaridhr nivaaran || |
| Pain and poverty are taken away from that person, within whose heart the Saint abides. |

| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਭੇਖ ਅਪਾਰ ਤਾਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
| niramal bhaekh apaar thaas bin avar n koee || |
| He is the Pure, Immaculate Form of the Infinite Lord; except for Him, there is no other at all. |

| ਮਨ ਬਚ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਣਿਅਉ ਭਯਉ ਤਿਹ ਸਮਸਰਿ ਸੋਈ ॥ |
| man bach jin jaaniao bhayo thih samasar soee || |
| Whoever knows Him in thought, word and deed, becomes just like Him. |

| ਧਰਨਿ ਗਗਨ ਨਵ ਖੰਡ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸ੍ਵਰੂਪੀ ਰਹਿਓ ਭਰਿ ॥ |
| dhharan gagan nav khandd mehi joth svaroopee rehiou bhar || |
| He is totally pervading the earth, the sky and the nine regions of the planet. He is the Embodiment of the Light of God. |

| ਭਨਿ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਕਛੁ ਭੇਦੁ ਨਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਰਜੁਨੁ ਪਰਤਖ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਹਰਿ ॥੭॥੧੯॥ |
| bhan mathhuraa kashh bhaedh nehee gur arajun parathakhy har ||7||19|| |
| So speaks Mat'huraa: there is no difference between God and Guru; Guru Arjun is the Personification of the Lord Himself. ||7||19|| |

| ਅਜੈ ਗੰਗ ਜਲੁ ਅਟਲੁ ਸਿਖ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਭ ਨਾਵੈ ॥ |
| ajai gang jal attal sikh sangath sabh naavai || |
| The stream of the Lord's Name flows like the Ganges, invincible and unstoppable. The Sikhs of the Sangat all bathe in it. |

| ਨਿਤ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਬਾਚੀਅਹਿ ਬੇਦ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਵੈ ॥ |
| nith puraan baacheeahi baedh brehamaa mukh gaavai || |
| It appears as if the holy texts like the Puraanaas are being recited there and Brahma himself sings the Vedas. |

| ਅਜੈ ਚਵਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਢੁਲੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਲੀਅਉ ॥ |
| ajai chavar sir dtulai naam anmrith mukh leeao || |
| The invincible chauri, the fly-brush, waves over His head; with His mouth, He drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam. |

| ਗੁਰ ਅਰਜੁਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਤ੍ਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਿ ਦੀਅਉ ॥ |

| The Transcendent Lord Himself has placed the royal canopy over the head of Guru Arjun. |

| ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਗਦ ਅਮਰ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਗਯਉ ॥ |
| mil naanak angadh amar gur gur raamadhaas har pehi gayo || |
| Guru Nanak, Guru Angad, Guru Amar Daas and Guru Raam Daas met together before the Lord. |

| ਹਰਿਬੰਸ ਜਗਤਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੰਚਰ੍ਯ੍ਯਉ ਸੁ ਕਵਣੁ ਕਹੈ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੁਯਉ ॥੧॥ |
| haribans jagath jas sancharyo s kavan kehai sree gur muyo ||1|| |
| So speaks HARBANS: Their Praises echo and resound all over the world; who can possibly say that the Great Gurus are dead? ||1|| |

| ਦੇਵ ਪੁਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਗਯਉ ਆਪਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ੍ਵਰ ਭਾਯਉ ॥ |
| dhaev puree mehi gayo aap paramaesvar bhaayo || |
| When it was the Will of the Transcendent Lord Himself, Guru Raam Daas went to the City of God. |

| ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣੁ ਦੀਅਉ ਸਿਰੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਤਹ ਬੈਠਾਯਉ ॥ |
| har singhaasan dheeao siree gur theh baithaayo || |
| The Lord offered Him His Royal Throne, and seated the Guru upon it. |

| ਰਹਸੁ ਕੀਅਉ ਸੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਤੋਹਿ ਜਸੁ ਜਯ ਜਯ ਜੰਪਹਿ ॥ |
| rehas keeao sur dhaev thohi jas jay jay janpehi || |
| The angels and gods were delighted; they proclaimed and celebrated Your victory, O Guru. |

| ਅਸੁਰ ਗਏ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਾਪ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਕੰਪਹਿ ॥ |
| asur geae thae bhaag paap thinh bheethar kanpehi || |
| The demons ran away; their sins made them shake and tremble inside. |

| ਕਾਟੇ ਸੁ ਪਾਪ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਨਰਹੁ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਪਾਇਯਉ ॥ |
| kaattae s paap thinh narahu kae gur raamadhaas jinh paaeiyo || |
| Those people who found Guru Raam Daas were rid of their sins. |

| O mother-in-law, how can I bow? Because of my stiff nipples, I cannot bow. |

| O sister, those mansions built as high as mountains |

| ਸੇ ਭੀ ਢਹਦੇ ਡਿਠੁ ਮੈ ਮੁੰਧ ਨ ਗਰਬੁ ਥਣੀ ॥੧॥ |
| sae bhee dtehadhae ddith mai mundhh n garab thhanee ||1|| |
| - I have seen them come crumbling down. O bride, do not be so proud of your nipples. ||1|| |

| ਸੁਣਿ ਮੁੰਧੇ ਹਰਣਾਖੀਏ ਗੂੜਾ ਵੈਣੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥ |
| sun mundhhae haranaakheeeae goorraa vain apaar || |
| O bride with deer-like eyes, listen to the words of deep and infinite wisdom. |

| ਪਹਿਲਾ ਵਸਤੁ ਸਿਞਾਣਿ ਕੈ ਤਾਂ ਕੀਚੈ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ॥ |
| pehilaa vasath sinjaan kai thaan keechai vaapaar || |
| First, examine the merchandise, and then, make the deal. |

| ਦੋਹੀ ਦਿਚੈ ਦੁਰਜਨਾ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਕੂੰ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥ |
| dhohee dhichai dhurajanaa mithraan koon jaikaar || |
| Proclaim that you will not associate with evil people; celebrate victory with your friends. |

| ਜਿਤੁ ਦੋਹੀ ਸਜਣ ਮਿਲਨਿ ਲਹੁ ਮੁੰਧੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ |
| jith dhohee sajan milan lahu mundhhae veechaar || |
| This proclamation, to meet with your friends, O bride - give it some thought. |

| ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਸਜਣਾ ਐਸਾ ਹਸਣੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ |
| than man dheejai sajanaa aisaa hasan saar || |
| Surrender mind and body to the Lord your Friend; this is the most excellent pleasure. |

| ਤਿਸ ਸਉ ਨੇਹੁ ਨ ਕੀਚਈ ਜਿ ਦਿਸੈ ਚਲਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ |
| this so naehu n keechee j dhisai chalanehaar || |
| Do not fall in love with one who is destined to leave. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਇਵ ਕਰਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak jinhee eiv kar bujhiaa thinhaa vittahu kurabaan ||2|| |
| O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who understand this. ||2|| |

| ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਤਾਰੂ ਪਾਣਿ ਤਾਹੂ ਪੁਛੁ ਤਿੜੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਲ ॥ |
| jae thoon thaaroo paan thaahoo pushh thirrannh kal || |
| If you wish to swim across the water, then consult those who know how to swim. |

| ਤਾਹੂ ਖਰੇ ਸੁਜਾਣ ਵੰਞਾ ਏਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਕਪਰੀ ॥੩॥ |
| thaahoo kharae sujaan vannjaa eaenhee kaparee ||3|| |
| Those who have survived these treacherous waves are very wise. ||3|| |
|
| ਝੜ ਝਖੜ ਓਹਾੜ ਲਹਰੀ ਵਹਨਿ ਲਖੇਸਰੀ ॥ |
| jharr jhakharr ouhaarr leharee vehan lakhaesaree || |
| The storm rages and the rain floods the land; thousands of waves rise and surge. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਆਲਾਇ ਬੇੜੇ ਡੁਬਣਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਭਉ ॥੪॥ |
| sathigur sio aalaae baerrae dduban naahi bho ||4|| |
| If you cry out for help from the True Guru, you have nothing to fear - your boat will not sink. ||4|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕੈਸੀ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| naanak dhuneeaa kaisee hoee || |
| O Nanak, what has happened to the world? |

| ਸਾਲਕੁ ਮਿਤੁ ਨ ਰਹਿਓ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
| saalak mith n rehiou koee || |
| There is no guide or friend. |
|
| ਭਾਈ ਬੰਧੀ ਹੇਤੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥ |
| bhaaee bandhhee haeth chukaaeiaa || |
| There is no love, even among brothers and relatives. |
|
| ਦੁਨੀਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਦੀਨੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੫॥ |
| dhuneeaa kaaran dheen gavaaeiaa ||5|| |
| For the sake of the world, people have lost their faith. ||5|| |
|
| ਹੈ ਹੈ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਓਹਿ ਕਰੇਨਿ ॥ |
| hai hai kar kai ouhi karaen || |
| They cry and weep and wail. |
|
| ਗਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਪਿਟਨਿ ਸਿਰੁ ਖੋਹੇਨਿ ॥ |
| galhaa pittan sir khohaen || |
| They slap their faces and pull their hair out. |
|
| ਨਾਉ ਲੈਨਿ ਅਰੁ ਕਰਨਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ |
| naao lain ar karan samaae || |
| But if they chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they shall be absorbed into it. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੬॥ |
| naanak thin balihaarai jaae ||6|| |
| O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to them. ||6|| |

| ਰੇ ਮਨ ਡੀਗਿ ਨ ਡੋਲੀਐ ਸੀਧੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਧਾਉ ॥ |
| rae man ddeeg n ddoleeai seedhhai maarag dhhaao || |
| O my mind, do not waver or walk on the crooked path; take the straight and true path. |
