| ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਸਾਧ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ |
| gaavan thudhhano sidhh samaadhhee andhar gaavan thudhhano saadhh beechaarae || |
| The Siddhas in Samaadhi sing of You; the Saadhus sing of You in contemplation. |

| ਜੇਵਡੁ ਆਪਿ ਤੇਵਡ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥ |
| jaevadd aap thaevadd thaeree dhaath || |
| As Great as You Yourself are, O Lord, so Great are Your Gifts. |

| ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜੀ ਕਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੰਤ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ |
| har aapae thaakur har aapae saevak jee kiaa naanak janth vichaaraa ||1|| |
| The Lord Himself is the Master, the Lord Himself is the Servant. O Nanak, the poor beings are wretched and miserable! ||1|| |

| ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| sehajae hee har naam samaaeiaa ||3|| |
| They are intuitively absorbed into the Lord's Name. ||3|| |
|
| ਸੂਰਜੁ ਏਕੋ ਰੁਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ |
| sooraj eaeko ruth anaek || |
| and the various seasons originate from the one sun; |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੇ ॥੪॥੫॥ |
| naanak dhaas eihai sukh maagai mo ko kar santhan kee dhhoorae ||4||5|| |
| Nanak, Your slave, begs for this happiness: let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||5|| |
|
| ਭੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਹਉ ਕੇਵਡੁ ਆਖਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੩॥ |
| bhee thaeree keemath naa pavai ho kaevadd aakhaa naao ||3|| |
| -even so, I could not estimate Your Value. How can I describe the Greatness of Your Name? ||3|| |

| ਸਚੁ ਸਰਾ ਗੁੜ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| sach saraa gurr baaharaa jis vich sachaa naao || |
| The Wine of Truth is not fermented from molasses. The True Name is contained within it. |

| ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਖੁਸੀ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥ |
| ghar mandhar khusee naam kee nadhar thaeree paravaar || |
| The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the pleasure of houses and mansions. Your Glance of Grace is my family, Lord. |
|
| ਪਿਰੁ ਰੀਸਾਲੂ ਤਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਾ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣੀ ॥੨॥ |
| pir reesaaloo thaa milai jaa gur kaa sabadh sunee ||2|| |
| We meet with our Beloved, the Source of Joy, when we listen to the Word of the Guru's Shabad."||2|| |
|
| ਮੁੰਧੇ ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ |
| mundhhae pir bin kiaa seegaar || |
| O soul-bride, without your Husband Lord, what good are your decorations? |
|
| ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| eihu man saach santhokhiaa nadhar karae this maahi || |
| One whose mind is contented with Truthfulness, is blessed with the Lord's Glance of Grace. |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਜਲਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| anthar laagee jal bujhee paaeiaa guramukh giaan ||1|| rehaao || |
| The raging fire within is extinguished; the Gurmukh obtains spiritual wisdom. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਵਹਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਜ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥੩॥ |
| guramukh ravehi sohaaganee so prabh saej bhathaar ||3|| |
| The Gurmukh is ravished like the pure and happy bride on the Bed of God, her Husband. ||3|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਲੈ ਚਲਹੁ ਸਹੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har jas vakhar lai chalahu sahu dhaekhai patheeaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| Take the Merchandise of the Lord's Praises with you. Your Husband Lord shall see this and approve. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਦਸ ਅਠਾਰ ਮੈ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੋ ਚੀਨੈ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਇਵ ਏਕੁ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੩॥੨੬॥ |
| dhas athaar mai aparanparo cheenai kehai naanak eiv eaek thaarai ||3||26|| |
| See the Infinite Lord in the ten directions, and in all the variety of nature. Says Nanak, in this way, the One Lord shall carry you across. ||3||26|| |

| ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਿਹੂਣਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕੀਅ ॥ |

| None have been created without this awareness. |

| ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਣੀਆ ॥ |
| sukh hovai saev kamaaneeaa || |
| you shall find peace, doing seva (selfless service). |

| ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੫॥੨॥੩੫॥ |
| jan naanak jeevai naam lai har dhaevahu sehaj subhaae ||5||2||35|| |
| Servant Nanak lives by chanting the Naam. O Lord, please give it to me, in Your Natural Way. ||5||2||35|| |

| ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਓਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ |
| jis andhar naam pragaas hai ouhu sadhaa sadhaa thhir hoe ||3|| |
| Those who have the Radiant Light of the Naam within, become steady and stable, forever and ever. ||3|| |
|
| ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| karam milai thaa paaeeai vin karamai paaeiaa n jaae || |
| Those who receive His Grace find Him. Without His Grace, He cannot be found. |

| ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤਜਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ |
| maerae man thaj nindhaa houmai ahankaar || |
| O my mind, give up slander, egotism and arrogance. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੁਇ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੪੪॥ |
| naanak eaek joth dhue moorathee sabadh milaavaa hoe ||4||11||44|| |
| O Nanak, the One Light has two forms; through the Shabad, union is attained. ||4||11||44|| |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| bin sabadhai pir n paaeeai birathhaa janam gavaae ||2|| |
| Without the Shabad, she does not find her Husband Lord, and her life wastes away in vain. ||2|| |
|
| ਕਥਨੀ ਬਦਨੀ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| kathhanee badhanee n paaeeai houmai vichahu jaae || |
| He is not obtained by mouthing mere words, but by rooting out ego from within. |

| ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
| gur saevaa naao paaeeai sachae rehai samaae ||3|| |
| Serving the Guru, the Name is obtained, and one remains absorbed in the True Lord. ||3|| |
|
| ਸੁੰਞੇ ਘਰ ਕਾ ਪਾਹੁਣਾ ਜਿਉ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਉ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| sunnjae ghar kaa paahunaa jio aaeiaa thio jaae || |
| Like guests in a deserted house, they leave just exactly as they have come. |
|
| ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
| nadhar karae prabh aapanee aapae leae milaae ||3|| |
| When God Himself bestows His Glance of Grace, He blends us into Himself. ||3|| |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ |
| gur sabadhee man rangiaa rasanaa praem piaar || |
| Their minds are imbued with the Word of the Guru's Shabad; the Love of their Beloved is on their tongues. |

| ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਥੀ ਰਹਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| thin hee jaisee thhee rehaa sathasangath mael milaae ||1|| |
| If only I could be like them! Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I am united in His Union. ||1|| |
|
| ਅਧਿਆਤਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਤਾਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਜਪਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥ |
| adhhiaathamee har gun thaas man japehi eaek muraar || |
| The souls on their spiritual journey chant and meditate within their minds on the One Lord, the Treasure of Excellence. |
|
| ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਾਵ ਥਕੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| manehath kinai n paaeiaa kar oupaav thhakae sabh koe || |
| No one has found Him by stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of the effort. |
|
| ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੬੭॥ |
| dhhann dhhann vaddabhaagee naanakaa jinaa sathigur leae milaae ||4||3||67|| |
| Blessed, blessed are those very fortunate ones, O Nanak, who are united with the Lord through the True Guru. ||4||3||67|| |

| ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਉਬਰੇ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੇ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥ |
| guramath har liv oubarae alipath rehae saranaae || |
| Through the Guru's Teachings, some embrace love for the Lord, and are saved. They remain detached and unaffected, and they find the Sanctuary of the Lord. |

| ਗਿਰੰਬਾਰੀ ਵਡ ਸਾਹਬੀ ਸਭੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਪਨੁ ਥੀਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੭੨॥ |
| giranbaaree vadd saahabee sabh naanak supan thheeaa ||4||2||72|| |
| who live in wondrous affluence and rule over mountains, oceans and vast dominions-O Nanak, in the end, all this vanishes like a dream! ||4||2||72|| |

| ਸੇਵਾ ਮੰਗੈ ਸੇਵਕੋ ਲਾਈਆਂ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਸੇਵ ॥ |
| saevaa mangai saevako laaeeaaan apunee saev || |
| Your servant begs to serve those who are enjoined to Your service. |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਏਕੋ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ |
| saadhhasangath kai ghar vasai eaeko sachaa soe ||1|| |
| In the Company of the Holy, the One True Lord comes to abide within the home of the self. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਿਨੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੮੦॥ |
| jinee maeraa prabh dhhiaaeiaa naanak thin kurabaan ||4||10||80|| |
| O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to those who meditate on my God. ||4||10||80|| |

| ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਮੀਤੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| bhaaee rae meeth karahu prabh soe || |
| O Siblings of Destiny, make God your Friend. |

| ਜੀਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਹੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥ |
| jeeo praan man than harae saachaa eaehu suaao || |
| Your soul, breath of life, mind and body shall blossom forth in lush profusion; this is the true purpose of life. |

| ਜਿਨ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸਿਆ ਉਹ ਰਸੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥ |
| jin chaakhiaa sae thripathaasiaa ouh ras jaanai jindh || |
| Those who taste it are satisfied and fulfilled; their souls know this Sublime Essence. |

| ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਦੁਖ ਲਥੁ ॥੩॥ |
| gur paramaesar saeviaa bhai bhanjan dhukh lathh ||3|| |
| I serve the Guru, the Transcendent Lord, the Dispeller of fear; my suffering has been taken away. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਭਨਾ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਵੰਞਣਾ ਸਭਿ ਮੁਕਲਾਵਣਹਾਰ ॥ |
| sabhanaa saahurai vannjanaa sabh mukalaavanehaar || |
| Everyone shall go to their Husband Lord. Everyone shall be given their ceremonial send-off after their marriage. |

| ਪਿਤਾ ਹਉ ਜਾਨਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਵਨ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥ |
| pithaa ho jaano naahee thaeree kavan jugathaa || |
| O Father, I do not know-how can I know Your Way? |

| ਆਗੈ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਮੰਨੀਅਹਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| aagai dharagehi manneeahi milai nithhaavae thhaao ||1|| |
| Hereafter, you shall be honored in the Court of the Lord; there, even the homeless find a home. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਭੇ ਕੰਤ ਮਹੇਲੀਆ ਸਗਲੀਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ |
| sabhae kanth mehaeleeaa sagaleeaa karehi seegaar || |
| All are brides of the Husband Lord; all decorate themselves for Him. |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥ |
| gur raakhae sae oubarae saachae sio liv laae ||4|| |
| Those who are protected by the Guru are saved. They are lovingly attuned to the True Lord. ||4|| |
|
| ਮਨਿ ਜੂਠੈ ਤਨਿ ਜੂਠਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਜੂਠੀ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| man joothai than jooth hai jihavaa joothee hoe || |
| If the mind is polluted, then the body is polluted, and the tongue is polluted as well. |

| ਸਚੇ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਸਚੋ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| sachae saethee rathiaa sacho palai paae || |
| Imbued with the True Lord, Truth is gathered in. |

| ਦੂਖੁ ਘਣੋ ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਕਿਉ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ॥੧॥ |
| dhookh ghano dhohaaganee kio thhir rehai suhaag ||1|| |
| The deserted wife suffers terrible pain. How can her Husband Lord remain with her forever? ||1|| |
