| saej suhaavee sadhaa pir raavae sach seegaar banaavaniaa ||5|| |
| Her bed is beautiful; she ravishes and enjoys her Husband Lord forever. She is adorned with the Decorations of Truth. ||5|| |

| ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| dhoojai laagee mehal n paaeae || |
| Attached to duality, no one attains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. |
|
| ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਿਰਜੀ ਆਪੇ ਗੋਈ ॥ |
| thudhh aapae sirajee aapae goee || |
| You Yourself create, and You Yourself destroy. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| gur kaa sabadh mann vasaaeae || |
| The Word of the Guru's Shabad abides in the mind. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har sathasangath aapae maelai gur sabadhee har gun gaavaniaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| The Lord Himself unites me with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹਹਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਦੁ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ |
| anadhin har saalaahehi saachaa niramal naadh vajaavaniaa ||6|| |
| Night and day, the True One is praised; the Immaculate Sound-current of the Naad resounds there. ||6|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| har kaa naam mann vasaaeae || |
| the Name of the Lord comes to dwell in their minds. |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥ |
| sathigur saachee sikh sunaaee || |
| The True Guru has imparted the True Teachings. |
|
| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ |
| anmrith baanee sio chith laaeae anmrith sabadh vajaavaniaa ||5|| |
| Those who focus their consciousness on the Ambrosial Bani of the Word, hear the vibrations of the Ambrosial Word of the Shabad. ||5|| |
|
| ਤਨੁ ਸਚਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਨਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
| than sachaa rasanaa sach raathee sach sun aakh vakhaananiaa ||2|| |
| True are the bodies of those whose tongues are attuned to Truth. They hear the Truth, and speak it with their mouths. ||2|| |
|
| ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| jith saeviai sadhaa sukh hoee || |
| Serving Him, eternal peace is obtained. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਜੋਹਿਆ ਜਮਕਾਲੇ ॥ |
| maaeiaa mohi johiaa jamakaalae || |
| but if they are emotionally attached to Maya, then the Messenger of Death shall hunt them down. |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| sadhaa anandh rehehi dhin raathee gun kehi gunee samaavaniaa ||1|| |
| They are forever in bliss, day and night; chanting the Glorious Praises of the Lord, they merge with the Lord of Glory. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ |
| sathigur aapae mael milaaeae mil preetham sukh paavaniaa ||5|| |
| The True Guru Himself unites us in Union with the Lord. Meeting the Beloved, peace is obtained. ||5|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| guramukh gaavai guramukh naachai har saethee chith laavaniaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| The Gurmukhs sing, the Gurmukhs dance, and focus their consciousness on the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ |
| sayvaa tay sadaa sukh paa-i-aa gurmukh sahj samaavani-aa. ||7|| |
| Through selfless service, eternal peace is obtained. The Gurmukh is absorbed in intuitive peace. ||7|| |
|
| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| anadhin naam salaahan rang raathae gur kirapaa thae paavaniaa ||3|| |
| Night and day, praise the Naam, the Name of the Lord; imbued with the Lord's Love, by Guru's Grace, you shall find Him. ||3|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੯॥੨੯॥੩੦॥ |
| naanak naam rathae jan sohehi kar kirapaa aap milaavaniaa ||9||29||30|| |
| O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Naam are beautiful. Granting His Grace, God unites them with Himself. ||9||29||30|| |

| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੰਸਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥ਹਰਿ ਸਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥ |
| niramal hansaa praem piaar || har sar vasai houmai maar || |
| The pure swans, with love and affection, dwell in the Ocean of the Lord, and subdue their ego. |

| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥ |
| ho vaaree jeeo vaaree nirankaaree naam dhhiaavaniaa || |
| I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Formless Lord. |
|
| ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ |
| aap tharai sagalae kul thaarae this dharageh thaak n paavaniaa ||7|| |
| They themselves swim across, and they save all their ancestors and families as well. In the Court of the Lord, they meet with no obstruction. ||7|| |
|
| ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਈ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| dhaeiaa dhhaar raakhae thudhh saeee poorai karam samaavaniaa ||3|| |
| Showering Your Mercy, You protect those who, through perfect destiny, merge into You. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਰਨਿ ਆਵੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਝੂਰੇ ॥੨॥ |
| saran aavai paarabreham kee thaa fir kaahae jhoorae ||2|| |
| Entering the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God, how could anyone feel grief any longer? ||2|| |
|
| ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਚਰਣੀ ਜੋ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| preetham charanee jo lagae thin kee niramal soe || |
| Pure is the reputation of those who are attached to the Feet of the Beloved Lord. |

| ਅਸੁਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਮਾਹੜਾ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| asun praem oumaaharraa kio mileeai har jaae || |
| In the month of Assu, my love for the Lord overwhelms me. How can I go and meet the Lord? |

| ਜਨਮ ਕਰਮ ਮਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਇ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| janam karam mal outharai man thae jaae gumaan || |
| In this way, the filth of lifetimes of karma shall be removed, and egotistical pride shall vanish from your mind. |
|
| ਮਰਣਿ ਜੀਵਣਿ ਆਰਾਧਣਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| maran jeevan aaraadhhanaa sabhanaa kaa aadhhaar || |
| In death and in life, worship and adore the Lord, the Support of all. |
|
| ਉਡਿਆ ਹੰਸੁ ਦਸਾਏ ਰਾਹ ॥ |
| ouddiaa hans dhasaaeae raah || |
| The swan of the soul takes flight, and asks which way to go. |
|
| ਕੁਲੁ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਧੰਨੁ ਜਣੇਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| kul oudhhaarae aapanaa dhhann janaedhee maaeiaa || |
| They save their families and ancestors; blessed are the mothers who gave birth to them. |
|
| ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਮੁਰਦਾਰੁ ਖਾਇ ॥ |
| koorr bol muradhaar khaae || |
| Telling lies, they eat dead bodies. |
|
| ਤਸਬੀ ਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਸੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਖੈ ਲਾਜ ॥੧॥ |
| thasabee saa this bhaavasee naanak rakhai laaj ||1|| |
| Let your rosary be that which is pleasing to His Will. O Nanak, God shall preserve your honor. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਗਲੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਸਕਰ ਹੋਵੈ ਖੁਸੀ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| sagalee dhharathee sakar hovai khusee karae nith jeeo || |
| If all the earth became sugar, to continually excite the mind; |
|
| ਵੇਖੁ ਜਿ ਮਿਠਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਕਟਿ ਕੁਟਿ ਬਧਾ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| vaekh j mithaa kattiaa katt kutt badhhaa paae || |
| Look, and see how the sugar-cane is cut down. After cutting away its branches, its feet are bound together into bundles, |

| ਅਸਤਿ ਏਕ ਦਿਗਰਿ ਕੁਈ ॥ |
| asath eaek dhigar kuee || |
| Who else is there? |
|
| ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਵਾਵਹਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਜਲਿ ਨਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
| thudhh bhaavai thaa vaavehi gaavehi thudhh bhaavai jal naavehi || |
| When it pleases You, we play music and sing; when it pleases You, we bathe in water. |
|
| ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਏ ਅਸਗਾਹ ਗੋਤੇ ਖਾਹਿ ਨ ਨਿਕਲਹਿ ॥ |
| bahuth peae asagaah gothae khaahi n nikalehi || |
| So many fall into the bottomless pit; they are dragged under, and they cannot get out again. |
|
| ਝੂਠੋ ਝੂਠੁ ਵਖਾਣਿ ਸੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਖੁਆਈਐ ॥ |
| jhootho jhooth vakhaan s mehal khuaaeeai || |
| By uttering falsehood and only falsehood, the Mansion of the Lord's Presence is lost. |
|
| ਮਤਿ ਪੰਖੇਰੂ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਸਾਥਿ ਕਬ ਉਤਮ ਕਬ ਨੀਚ ॥ |
| math pankhaeroo kirath saathh kab outham kab neech || |
| The intellect is a bird; on account of its actions, it is sometimes high, and sometimes low. |
|
| ਸਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸਚਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਸਿਆ ॥ |
| sachaa sathigur saevan sachaa maarag dhasiaa || |
| Those who serve the Truthful True Guru are shown the True Path. |
|
| ਨਾ ਓਇ ਜੋਗੀ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਜੰਗਮ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਕਾਜੀ ਮੁੰਲਾ ॥ |
| naa oue jogee naa oue jangam naa oue kaajee munlaa || |
| They are not Yogis, and they are not Jangams, followers of Shiva. They are not Qazis or Mullahs. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨੭॥ ਸੁਧੁ |
| naanak sach saalaahi pooraa paaeiaa ||27|| sudhhu |
| O Nanak, praising the True Lord, I have obtained His Perfection. ||27||Sudh|| |

| ਤਉ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| tho kudharath keemath nehee paae ||1|| rehaao || |
| Your All-pervading creative nature cannot be estimated. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵਹਿ ਕਰਮਿ ਲਿਖਿਆਸੁ ॥੩॥ |
| dheh dhis dhhaavehi karam likhiaas ||3|| |
| They fly away in all ten directions, according to their pre-ordained destiny. ||3|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੯॥ |
| naanak houmai maar milaaeiaa ||4||9|| |
| O Nanak, conquering egotism, we are absorbed into the Lord. ||4||9|| |

| ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਰਹਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sukirath keethaa rehasee maerae jeearrae bahurr n aavai vaaree ||1|| rehaao || |
| Only the good deeds which you have done shall remain with you, O my soul. This opportunity shall not come again! ||1||Pause|| |

| ਕਰਿ ਪਟੰਬੁ ਗਲੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵਸਿ ਸੰਸਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਵਸਿਤਾ ॥ |
| kar pattanb galee man laavas sansaa mool n jaavasithaa || |
| Practicing hypocrisy and attaching your mind to worldly objects, your doubt shall never depart. |
|
| ਆਪਣ ਲੀਆ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਭਾਗਠੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| aapan leeaa jae milai thaa sabh ko bhaagath hoe || |
| If people could gather it in by their own efforts, then everyone would be so lucky. |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਭ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| gur miliai sabh math budhh hoe || |
| Meeting the Guru, all wisdom and understanding are obtained. |
