| dhaevanehaaraa bisariou thaakur khin mehi hoth paraaeae ||2|| |
| You have forgotten your Lord and Master, the Great Giver. In an instant, these shall belong to somebody else. ||2|| |

| ਤੂਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਤੂਹੀ ਬਨਿ ਤੂਹੀ ਗਾਉ ਤੂਹੀ ਸੁਨਿ ॥ |
| thoohee grihi thoohee ban thoohee gaao thoohee sun || |
| You are in the household, and You are in the forest. You are in the village, and You are in the wilderness. |

| ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰਸ ਮਾਨਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੈ ਆਗਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sarab sukh aanandh mangal ras maan gobindhai aagiou ||1|| rehaao || |
| All peace, joy, happiness and pleasures have come since I surrendered to the Will of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮਨ ਤਨ ਧਨ ਭੂਮਿ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਉ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ |
| man than dhhan bhoom kaa thaakur ho eis kaa eihu maeraa || |
| "I am the lord, the master of my mind, body, wealth and lands. These are mine." |

| ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ ਲਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| pathith pavith lag gur kae pairae jeeo || |
| I was a sinner, and I have been sanctified, taking to the Guru's Feet. |

| ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਰਤ ਸਾਰਤਾ ਸੇ ਅਖੀ ਡਿਠੜਿਆ ॥ |
| dhaee bujhaarath saarathaa sae akhee dditharriaa || |
| The riddles and hints are given, and he sees them with his eyes. |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚਕੁ ਦਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੭੨॥ |
| naanak jaachak dhar thaerai prabh thudhhano mangai dhaan ||4||4||172|| |
| Nanak is a beggar standing at Your Door, God; he begs for Your charity. ||4||4||172|| |

| ਕੋਊ ਮਾਈ ਭੂਲਿਓ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਵੈ ॥ |

| O mother, if only someone would instruct my wayward mind. |

| ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਛੂਟੀ ਬਿਮਲ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥ |
| thrikuttee shhoottee bimal majhaar || |
| I am rid of the three-phased Maya, dwelling in the Pure Lord. |

| ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥ |
| ousathath karehi kaethae mun preeth || |
| The many silent sages lovingly praise Him. |
 |
| ਕਥਨੀ ਕਥਉ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਓਰੁ ॥ |
| kathhanee kathho n aavai our || |
| Speaking the speech, there is no end to it. |
 |
| ਜੈਸਾ ਸੇਵੈ ਤੈਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥ |
| jaisaa saevai thaiso hoe ||4|| |
| They become just like the One they serve. ||4|| |

| ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ |
| aapae sathigur sabadh beechaarae || |
| He Himself, as the True Guru, contemplates the Shabad. |

| ਪਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਖੋਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀ ॥੪॥ |
| path math khovehi naam visaaree ||4|| |
| Honor and good sense are lost, when one forgets the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਭੇਟਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹੀ ॥੭॥ |
| guramukh giaan bhaett gun gaahee ||7|| |
| Obtaining spiritual wisdom from the Guru, I sing the Glories of God. ||7|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਜਸਿ ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| har jas santh bhagath nisathaariaa || |
| The Lord's Praises have saved His Saints and devotees. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲੁ ਨ ਚੂਕਈ ਲਾਹਾ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੮॥੧॥੧੭॥ |

| O Nanak, this Union cannot be broken; the true profit is obtained. ||8||1||17|| |

| ਪੜਿ ਵਾਦੁ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਮਕਾਲਾ ॥ |
| parr vaadh vakhaanehi sir maarae jamakaalaa || |
| Reading about the debates and disputes, they are hit over the head by the Messenger of Death. |

| ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਕਾਲੈ ਕੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰਾ ॥ |
| thrai gun kaalai kee sir kaaraa || |
| Those who are controlled by the three qualities have death hovering over their heads. |

| ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਭੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ |
| man hee man savaariaa bhai sehaj subhaae || |
| The mind has intuitively healed itself, through the Fear of God. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੋ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ |
| sathigur saevan so sohanae houmai mail gavaae || |
| Those who serve the True Guru are very beautiful; they cast off the filth of selfishness and conceit. |

| ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਏਕ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਿ ॥ |
| man karehalaa vaddabhaageeaa har eaek nadhar nihaal || |
| O very fortunate camel-like mind, with one Glance of Grace from the Lord, you shall be enraptured. |

| ਤਉ ਇਸੁ ਘਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਰੀ ॥੭॥ |
| tho eis ghar kee keemath paree ||7|| |
| then he comes to appreciate the true value of his own home. ||7|| |

| ਸਹਜੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥ |
| sehajae grih mehi sehaj oudhaasee || |
| They are at peace in their homes, and they are at peace while detached. |
 |
| ਇਸਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਰਾਜ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| eisehi maar raaj jog kamaavai ||1|| rehaao || |
| Killing it, he attains Raja Yoga, the Yoga of meditation and success. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਾ ਕੋ ਹੀਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਸੂਰਾ ॥ |
| naa ko heen naahee ko sooraa || |
| No one is weak, and no one is a hero. |
 |
| ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਵੈਰੀ ਸਭ ਮੀਤ ॥੫॥ |
| jis parasaadh vairee sabh meeth ||5|| |
| By His Grace, all my enemies have become friends. ||5|| |
 |
| ਮੈ ਤਕੀ ਓਟ ਸੰਤਾਹ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰੀਆ ॥੨॥ |
| mai thakee outt santhaah laehu oubaareeaa ||2|| |
| I have sought the Protection of the Saints; please, save me! ||2|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਆਇਓ ॥੮॥੨॥੧੪॥ |
| naanak saran thuhaaree thaakur saevak dhuaarai aaeiou ||8||2||14|| |
| Nanak has come to Your Sanctuary, O my Lord and Master; Your servant has come to Your Door. ||8||2||14|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਰੁ ਧਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਇਛ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
| naanak pir dhhan karehi raleeaa eishh maeree punneeaa ||4||1|| |
| O Nanak, the Husband Lord and the soul-bride revel together; my desires are fulfilled. ||4||1|| |

| ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਮੇਲੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਓ ॥ |
| sun sakhee sehaelee jeea kee maelee gur kai sabadh samaaou || |
| Listen, dear friends and companions of the soul - immerse yourselves in the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਪਾਣੀ ਅੰਨੁ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਰੀਐ ਹਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ |
| paanee ann n bhaavai mareeai haavai bin pir kio sukh paaeeai || |
| I have no desire for food or water, and I am dying from the pain of separation. Without my Husband Lord, how can I find peace? |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਕੰਚਨ ਭਏ ਮਨੂਰਾ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak raam naam nisathaaraa kanchan bheae manooraa ||1|| |
| O Nanak, through the Lord's Name, emancipation is obtained, and the slag iron is transformed into gold. ||1|| |

| ਚਾਕਰੀ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਖਰੀ ਦੁਖਾਲੀ ਆਪੁ ਵੇਚਿ ਧਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥ |
| chaakaree viddaanee kharee dhukhaalee aap vaech dhharam gavaaeae || |
| Working for strangers is very painful; doing so, one sells himself and loses his faith in the Dharma. |

| ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਰਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕੰਤੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
| binavanth naanak sehaj rehai har miliaa kanth sukhadhaaee ||4||1|| |
| Prays Nanak, I am in celestial bliss. I have obtained the Lord, the Giver of peace, as my Husband. ||4||1|| |

| ਸ੍ਰੀਰੰਗੋ ਦਇਆਲ ਮਨੋਹਰੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲੁ ਬਿਰਦਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sreerango dhaeiaal manohar bhagath vashhal biradhaaeiaa || |
| He is the Greatest Lover, the Merciful Master, the Enticer of the mind, the Support of His devotees - this is His very nature. |

| ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਨ ਟਲਿਆ ॥੪॥੪॥੨॥੫॥੧੧॥ |
| var paaeiaa prabh antharajaamee naanak sohaag n ttaliaa ||4||4||2||5||11|| |
| I have obtained God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, as my Husband; O Nanak, my marriage shall last forever. ||4||4||2||5||11|| |

| ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਪੁਕਾਰਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਸਭ ਕੂਰ ॥ |
| dhhan dhhan kehaa pukaarathae maaeiaa moh sabh koor || |
| Why are you crying out for riches and wealth? All this emotional attachment to Maya is false. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਰਉ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਮੈ ਮੋਰ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak thih saranee paro binas jaae mai mor ||1|| |
| O Nanak, seek God's Sanctuary, and your selfishness and conceit shall be taken away. ||1|| |

| ਯਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ॥ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| yaas japath man hoe anandh binasai dhoojaa bhaao || dhookh dharadh thrisanaa bujhai naanak naam samaao ||1|| |
| Chanting it, the mind is filled with bliss; love of duality is eliminated, and pain, distress and desires are quenched. O Nanak, immerse yourself in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣਿਆ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਪਰੀ ॥੧੮॥ |

| O Nanak, those who are pleasing to God become perfectly successful. ||18|| |

| shhashhaa shhaar hoth thaerae santhaa || |
| Chhachha: I long to become the dust under the feet of Your Saints. |

| ਜੋ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ॥੧॥ |
| jo jan prabh apunae karae naanak thae dhhan dhhann ||1|| |
| Those humble beings whom God has made His own, O Nanak, are blessed, so very blessed. ||1|| |

| ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਨ ਬਾਛਤੇ ਤਪਤਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| fal paavehi man baashhathae thapath thuhaaree jaae || |
| You shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires, and your burning thirst shall be quenched. |

| ਨੰਨਾਕਾਰੁ ਨ ਹੋਤਾ ਤਾ ਕਹੁ ॥ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਜਾ ਕਹੁ ॥ |
| nannaakaar n hothaa thaa kahu || naam manthra gur dheeno jaa kahu || |
| Those who have been given the Mantra of the Naam by the Guru, shall not be turned away. |
