| ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਸੋਧੀਆ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| chaarae kunddaa sodhheeaa bhaaee vin sathigur naahee jaae || |
| I have searched in the four directions, O Siblings of Destiny, but without the True Guru, there is no place at all. |

| ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਅਚਰਜ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਇਆ ਰਾਸੇ ॥ |
| vaddee vaddiaaee acharaj sobhaa kaaraj aaeiaa raasae || |
| Great is His glorious greatness, and wondrous is His magnificence; through Him, all affairs are resolved. |

| ਸੁਧੁ ਨ ਹੋਈਐ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਤਨਾ ਓੜਕਿ ਕੋ ਨ ਪਹੂਚੇ ॥੧॥ |
| sudhh n hoeeai kaahoo jathanaa ourrak ko n pehoochae ||1|| |
| No one can be purified by any rituals or devices; they cannot reach their goal. ||1|| |

| ਸੁਣਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਜੀਉ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਸੀ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| sun meethaa jeeo hamaaraa bal bal jaasee har dharasan dhaehu dhikhaaee ||1|| |
| Listen, friends: my soul is a sacrifice, a sacrifice to You; O Lord, reveal to me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||1|| |

| ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਸਨੇਹੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਾਖ ਬੇਦਨ ਜਣੁ ਆਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jis no visarai maeraa raam sanaehee this laakh baedhan jan aaee || rehaao || |
| But one who forgets my Dear Lord - know him to be afflicted with tens of thousands of illnesses. ||Pause|| |

| ਰੂੜੋ ਗੂੜੋ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੋ ਊਚੌ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥੩॥ |
| roorro goorro gehir ganbheero oocha agam apaarae ||3|| |
| You are beautiful, mysterious, profound, unfathomable, lofty, inaccessible and infinite. ||3|| |

| ਰਤਨੁ ਛਾਡਿ ਕਉਡੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ |
| rathan shhaadd kouddee sang laagae jaa thae kashhoo n paaeeai || |
| Forsaking the jewel, he is attached to the shell; nothing will come of it. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥ |
| sathigur naam nidhhaan dhrirraaeiaa chinthaa sagal binaasee || |
| The True Guru has implanted the treasure of the Naam within me, and all my anxieties have been dispelled. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਦਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੧੭॥੨੮॥ |
| kahu naanak jis masathak likhiaa this gur mil rog bidhaaree ||5||17||28|| |
| Says Nanak, one who has such pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon his forehead, meets with the Guru, and his diseases are cured. ||5||17||28|| |

| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਭੇਟਤ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥ |
| vaddabhaagee saadhhasang paraapath thin bhaettath dhuramath khoee || |
| By great good fortune, one obtains the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Meeting them, evil-mindedness is eliminated. |

| apanae dhaas kee aap paij raakhee naanak sadh kurabaan ||2||16||44|| |
| - He Himself preserves the honor of His slaves. Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||2||16||44|| |

| ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੋਵੈ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਹਮਰਾ ਗੁਣੁ ਅਵਗੁਣੁ ਨ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| halath palath prabh dhovai savaarae hamaraa gun avagun n beechaariaa || |
| God has saved me, both here and hereafter. He has not taken my merits and demerits into account. |

| ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕਰੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| oothath baithath har har dhhiaaeeai anadhin sukirath kareeai ||1|| rehaao || |
| While standing up and sitting down, meditate on the Lord's Name. Night and day, do good deeds. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਭਇਓ ਸਾਖੀ ॥ |

| The Word of the Guru's Shabad has become manifest, |

| In the Lord's Sanctuary, Nanak has found peace. ||4||9||59|| |

| I have seen all other shelters, but Yours alone remains for me. ||3|| |

| ਜਿਤੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਦਯਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥ |

| The Supreme Lord God has established that home, in which He comes to mind. |

| O God, their reins are in Your hands. |

| ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਤੈ ਨਾਹਨਿ ਧਨ ਜੋਰਨ ਕਉ ਧਾਇਆ ॥ |
| mukath panthh jaaniou thai naahan dhhan joran ko dhhaaeiaa || |
| You do not know the way to liberation, but you run all around chasing wealth. |

| ਘਟ ਹੀ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਬਸਤ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਮਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥ |
| ghatt hee bheethar basath niranjan thaa ko maram n jaanaa ||2|| |
| Deep within his heart, the Immaculate Lord dwells, but he does not know this secret. ||2|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਲੀਨ ਭਇਓ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਨੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਨੀ ॥੩॥੧੧॥ |
| naanak leen bhaeiou gobindh sio jio paanee sang paanee ||3||11|| |
| O Nanak, he merges with the Lord of the Universe, like water with water. ||3||11|| |

| ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਜੂਠਿ ਲਹੈ ਭੈ ਮਾਨੰ ਆਪੇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਅਗਾਮੰ ॥੫॥ |
| man mukh jooth lehai bhai maanan aapae giaan agaaman ||5|| |
| The filth of their mind and mouth is washed off when they live in the Fear of God; the inaccessible Lord Himself blesses them with spiritual wisdom. ||5|| |

| ਮਜਨੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਭਾਈ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸੇਖੁ ॥ |
| majan dhaan changiaaeeaa bhaaee dharageh naam visaekh || |
| In the Court of the Lord, the Naam is far superior to ritualistic cleansing baths, charity and good deeds, O Siblings of Destiny. |

| ਹਉ ਪਾਪੀ ਪਾਖੰਡੀਆ ਭਾਈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਸੇਖੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ho paapee paakhanddeeaa bhaaee man than naam visaekh || rehaao || |
| I am a hypocritical sinner, O Siblings of Destiny. Bless my mind and body with Your Name, O Lord. ||Pause|| |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂ ਏਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥ |
| maaeiaa moh sabh lok hai thaeree thoo eaeko purakh bidhhaathaa || |
| All the people are enticed by Maya; they are Yours, Lord - You alone are the Architect of Destiny. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੮॥੨॥ |

| O Nanak, with the Name of the Lord abiding in one's mind, no obstacles stand in one's way, O Siblings of Destiny. ||8||2|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਫਲ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥ |
| gur bachanee sukh oopajai bhaaee sabh fal sathigur paas ||3|| |
| By the Guru's Word, peace wells up, O Siblings of Destiny; all fruits are with the True Guru. ||3|| |

| ਜਿਨ ਭੇਟੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ॥ |
| jin bhaettai pooraa sathiguroo piaarae sae laagae saachai naae || |
| Those who meet with the Perfect True Guru, O Beloved, are attached to the True Name. |

| ਤਟ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਭ ਧਰਤੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਓ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਛੁਟਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨॥ |
| thatt theerathh sabh dhharathee bhramiou dhubidhhaa shhuttakai naahee ||2|| |
| He may make pilgrimages to river banks and sacred shrines all over the world, but his sense of duality will not leave him. ||2|| |

| ਹਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| ho guramukh sadhaa salaahee gur ko vaariaa ||1|| |
| As Gurmukh, I ever praise the Lord; I am a sacrifice to the Guru. ||1|| |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਗੁ ਕਮਲਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥ |
| bin naavai jag kamalaa firai guramukh nadharee aaeiaa || |
| Without the Name, the world wanders around insane; the Gurmukhs come to see this. |

| ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਿ ਥਕੇ ਅਠਿਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਇ ॥ |
| bhaekhadhhaaree bhaekh kar thhakae athisath theerathh naae || |
| The impersonators have grown weary of wearing false costumes, and bathing at the sixty-eight sacred shrines. |

| jan naanak kehai vichaaraa guramukh har sath har ||11|| |
| Poor servant Nanak speaks: the Gurmukhs know the Lord, the Lord is True. ||11|| |

| ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਰਾਖਿ ਕੈ ਊਭੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ |
| man than aagai raakh kai oobhee saev karaee || |
| just so, we offer our minds and bodies to our Guru; we stand before Him, and serve Him. |

| ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| jam dhar badhhae maareeahi bahuthee milai sajaae ||1|| |
| He is bound and gagged at the door of the Messenger of Death. He is beaten, and receives terrible punishment. ||1|| |
|
| ਅੰਦਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਆਇ ॥ |
| andhar thripath santhokhiaa fir bhukh n lagai aae || |
| They are satisfied and satiated within; they never feel hungry again. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਪਰਿ ਸੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਿਣਕਾ ॥੨੧॥ |
| har har dhaeiaal hovai jis oupar so guramukh har jap jinakaa ||21|| |
| That Gurmukh, unto whom the Lord becomes merciful, chants the Lord's Name, and wins the game of life. ||21|| |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਸੁਧੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਕਰੈ ਸੀਗਾਰ ॥ |
| bin sabadhai sudhh n hovee jae anaek karai seegaar || |
| Without the Word of the Shabad, purity is not obtained, even though the soul-bride may adorn herself with all sorts of decorations. |

| ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
| santh janaa kee dhhoor masathak laaeiaa || |
| They apply the dust of the feet of the Saints to their foreheads. |
|
| ਤੂ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਹਹਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਮੈ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
| thoo karan kaaran samarathh hehi karathae mai thujh bin avar n koee || |
| You are the Creator, all-powerful, able to do anything. Without You, there is no other at all. |

| ਪਰਿਓ ਕਾਲੁ ਸਭੈ ਜਗ ਊਪਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ |
| pariou kaal sabhai jag oopar maahi likhae bhram giaanee || |
| Death has fallen on the whole world; the doubting religious scholars are also listed on the Register of Death. |

| ਅੰਧਿਆਰੇ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਚਹੀਐ ॥ |
| andhhiaarae dheepak cheheeai || |
| In the darkness, we need a lamp |
|
| ਤਉ ਜਨ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥੧॥ |
| tho jan dhheeraj paavaa ||1|| |
| Then I, his humble servant, become patient. ||1|| |

| ਅਛਤ ਰਾਜ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਗਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| ashhath raaj bishhurath dhukh paaeiaa so gath bhee hamaaree ||2|| |
| His kingdom is intact, but separated from it, he suffers in sorrow. Such is my own condition. ||2|| |
