| kahu bheekhan dhue nain santhokhae jeh dhaekhaan theh soee ||2||2|| |
| Says Bheekhan, my eyes are content; wherever I look, there I see the Lord. ||2||2|| |

| ਜਮ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਜਾ ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਤਾ ਚਲਦਾ ਪਛੁਤਾਣਾ ॥੪॥ |
| jam dhuaar jaa pakarr chalaaeiaa thaa chaladhaa pashhuthaanaa ||4|| |
| When he is marched in chains to Death's door, then, he regrets his actions. ||4|| |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਦਿਤੀ ਬੋਲੇ ਤਾਤੁ ॥ |
| jin jihavaa dhithee bolae thaath || |
| He gave us our tongue to speak so fluently. |
|
| ਆਂਟ ਸੇਤੀ ਨਾਕੁ ਪਕੜਹਿ ਸੂਝਤੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਲੋਅ ॥ |
| aaantt saethee naak pakarrehi soojhathae thin loa || |
| They close off their nostrils with their fingers, and claim to see the three worlds. |

| ਸਹਜੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣਿ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ॥ |
| sehajae jin prabh jaan pashhaaniaa || |
| One who intuitively knows and realizes God, |
|
| ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥ |
| ootham baanee sabadh sunaaeae || |
| They listen to the most sublime Word of His Bani, and the Word of His Shabad. |
|
| ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਆਪਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥ |
| sach saachaa sach aap dhrirraaeae || |
| He is the Truest of the True; He Himself implants the True Name within. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜਗਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ |
| har har har aoukhadhh jag pooraa jap har har houmai maaree ||3|| |
| The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, is the most perfect medicine in this world; chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have conquered my ego. ||3|| |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਹਮ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਪਗ ਰਾਲੀ ॥੪॥੪॥ |
| jan naanak sangath saadhh har maelahu ham saadhh janaa pag raalee ||4||4|| |
| O Lord, unite servant Nanak with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; make me the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||4|| |

| ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ |
| so aisaa har dhhiaaeeai maerae jeearrae thaa sarab sukh paavehi maerae manaa ||1|| |
| So meditate on such a Lord, O my soul. Then, you shall obtain total peace, O my mind. ||1|| |

| ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੰਗੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਚੀਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| marai n jaavai sadh hee sangae sathigur sabadhee cheenaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| He does not die, and is not born; He is always with me. Through the Word of the True Guru's Shabad, I know Him. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਓਇ ਜੁ ਬੀਚ ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਕਛੁ ਹੋਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਬਿਲਾਨੀ ॥ |
| oue j beech ham thum kashh hothae thin kee baath bilaanee || |
| Those things which tore me away from You, Lord, are now gone. |

| ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀਨੋ ਚੋਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ॥੪॥੮॥ |
| har dhhan sanchan har naam bhojan eihu naanak keeno cholhaa ||4||8|| |
| To gather in the Lord's wealth, and to taste the food of the Lord's Name - Nanak has made this his feast. ||4||8|| |

| ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕ ਨਾਇਕ ਖਸਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥ |

| You are the Giver, O Lord, O Cherisher, my Master, my Husband Lord. |

| Remembering, remembering the Perfect Lord in meditation, I have saved all my companions. ||1|| |

| ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਰਾਸਿ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਏਕ ॥ |
| charan kamal adhhaar jan kaa raas poonjee eaek || |
| The lotus feet of the Lord are the support of His humble servants. They are his only capital and investment. |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਸੰਤਾ ਧੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੨॥੨੩॥ |

| Nanak lives, in the dust of the Saints. ||4||2||23|| |

| Bless me with such understanding, O Merciful Lord God, that I might remember You. |

| ਪਾਇਓ ਰੇ ਪਰਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਹੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਏਕੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੁ ਲਗਨਾ ॥੨॥੨॥੩੦॥ |
| paaeiou rae param nidhhaan mittiou hai abhimaan eaekai nirankaar naanak man laganaa ||2||2||30|| |
| I have obtained the supreme treasure, and my egotism has been eradicated; Nanak's mind is attached to the One Formless Lord. ||2||2||30|| |

| ਆਤਮ ਜਿਣੈ ਸਗਲ ਵਸਿ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥੧॥ |
| aatham jinai sagal vas thaa kai jaa kaa sathigur pooraa ||1|| |
| Through the Perfect True Guru, he conquers his own soul, and then everything comes under his control. ||1|| |

| ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਹਿਤ ਭਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sookh sehaj aanandh mangal sehith bhav nidhh paar outhaarae || rehaao || |
| With peace, poise, pleasure and joy, He has carried me across the terrifying world-ocean. ||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਬੋਲੈ ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਸਚੁ ਹੋਵੈ ॥੨॥੧੪॥੪੫॥ |
| naanak dhaas mukh thae jo bolai eehaa oohaa sach hovai ||2||14||45|| |
| Whatever the Lord's slave Nanak utters with his mouth, proves to be true, here and hereafter. ||2||14||45|| |

| Great peace and contentment come through the Guru's Word, and one's meditation is perfectly focused upon God. ||1||Pause|| |

| Millions of sins are erased by serving the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਰਸਿ ਲਪਟਾਨਾ ॥ |
| maath pithaa bhaaee suth banithaa thaa kai ras lapattaanaa || |
| Mother, father, siblings, children and spouse - he is entangled in their love. |

| ਮਰਣੁ ਲਿਖਾਇ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਆਏ ॥ |
| maran likhaae manddal mehi aaeae || |
| Destined only to die, he comes into the world. |
|
| ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਉ ਬਚਿਤਿ ਧਰਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰਤ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਵਿਹਾਵੈ ॥ |
| anik oupaav karo maaeiaa ko bachith dhharo maeree maeree karath sadh hee vihaavai || |
| I have tried so many things to acquire the wealth of Maya, and to cherish it in my mind; I have passed my life constantly crying out, ""Mine, mine!"" |

| ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੀਤ ਮਿਲਾਪੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾਵਣੋ ॥ |
| sangath meeth milaap pooraa naavano || |
| O friend, association with the Holy is the perfect cleansing bath. |

| ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸੋ ਆਥਿ ਕਿਉ ਦਰਿ ਜਾਇਸਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| bhookh piaaso aathh kio dhar jaaeisaa jeeo || |
| I am hungry and thirsty for wealth; how will I be able to go to the Lord's Court? |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਿਰ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੩॥ |
| naanak saach milai vaddiaaee pir ghar sohai naaree ||5||3|| |
| O Nanak, in Truth, she obtains glory; in her Husband's home, the soul-bride looks beautiful. ||5||3|| |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਮਹਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵਏ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧॥ |
| kar kirapaa laehu milaae mehal har paaveae jeeo ||5||1|| |
| Granting His Grace, the Lord has merged me with Himself; I have found the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||5||1|| |

| ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੋ ਭਰਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ਪਗ ਲਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਹੈ ਸਰਨਾਂਹੀ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
| kehi kabeer so bharamai naahee || pag lag raam rehai saranaanhee ||4||1|| |
| Says Kabeer, one who falls at the Lord's feet, and remains in His Sanctuary, does not wander around lost. ||4||1|| |

| ਕਾਹੇ ਰੇ ਨਰ ਗਰਬੁ ਕਰਤ ਹਹੁ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਝੂਠੀ ਦੇਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kaahae rae nar garab karath hahu binas jaae jhoothee dhaehee ||1|| rehaao || |
| O man, why are you so proud? This body is only temporary - it shall pass away. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਕੇਸਵਾ ਬਚਉਨੀ ਅਈਏ ਮਈਏ ਏਕ ਆਨ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ |
| kaesavaa bachounee aeeeae meeeae eaek aan jeeo ||2|| |
| The Lord says, ""This creation and I are one and the same.""||2|| |

| ਕਹੈ ਰਵਿਦਾਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਆਰਤੀ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਭੋਗ ਤੁਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥ |
| kehai ravidhaas naam thaero aarathee sath naam hai har bhog thuhaarae ||4||3|| |
| Says Ravi Daas, Your Name is my Aartee, my lamp-lit worship-service. The True Name, Sat Naam, is the food which I offer to You. ||4||3|| |

| ਜਨੁ ਧੰਨਾ ਲੇਵੈ ਮੰਗੀ ॥੨॥੪॥ |
| jan dhhannaa laevai mangee ||2||4|| |
| - Your humble servant Dhanna begs for these things, Lord. ||2||4|| |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਪਾਖਾਣੁ ਡੁਬਤ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਾ ॥੪॥੨॥ |
| jan naanak har kirapaa dhhaaree paakhaan ddubath har raakhaa ||4||2|| |
| The Lord has bestowed His Mercy on servant Nanak; He has saved the sinking stone. ||4||2|| |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਹੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਵਡ ਦਾਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਝਾ ॥੩॥ |
| sathigur saahu paaeiaa vadd dhaanaa har keeeae bahu gun saajhaa ||3|| |
| I have found the True Guru, the great, all-knowing King; He has shared with me the many Glorious Virtues of the Lord. ||3|| |
|
| ਸੁਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਲਾਹਾ ॥ |
| sun har kathhaa naam lai laahaa || |
| Listening to the sermon of the Lord, earn the profit of the Naam. |

| ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਹੁ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਓਮਾਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੧॥ |
| dheen dhaeiaal hohu jan oopar dhaehu naanak naam oumaahaa raam ||4||5||11|| |
| Be merciful to meek, humble Nanak; bless him with sincere love and yearning for the Lord. ||4||5||11|| |

| One who finds the Society of the Saints, O Nanak, is not consigned to reincarnation again. ||2||3||4|| |

| ਆਇਓ ਸਰਣਿ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੀ ਓਰਿ ॥ |
| aaeiou saran dheen dhukh bhanjan chithavo thumharee our || |
| I have come to Your Sanctuary, O Destroyer of the suffering of the innocent; I keep my consciousness focused on You. |

| ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਨਾਹਿਨ ਬਨੁ ਖੋਜਨ ਕਉ ਧਾਇਓ ॥੧॥ |
| sang suaamee so jaaniou naahin ban khojan ko dhhaaeiou ||1|| |
| The Lord and Master is with me, but I do not know Him. Instead, I run into the forest, looking for Him. ||1|| |
|
| ਯਾਰ ਵੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣ ਭਾਣਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਨੀਸੀ ਛੰਦਾ ॥ |
| yaar vae pir aapan bhaanaa kishh neesee shhandhaa || |
| O intimate friend, my Husband Lord does whatever He pleases; He is not dependent on anyone. |

| ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ |
| binavanth naanak dhaeiaa dhhaarahu this paraapath naam hoe ||3|| |
| Prays Nanak, that being, unto whom the Lord shows mercy - he alone obtains the Naam. ||3|| |

| simaranth santh sarabathr ramanan naanak aghanaasan jagadheesureh ||1|| |
| The Saints remember in meditation the all-pervading Lord God. O Nanak, He is the Destroyer of sins, the Lord of the universe. ||1|| |

| ਈਧਣੁ ਕੀਤੋਮੂ ਘਣਾ ਭੋਰੀ ਦਿਤੀਮੁ ਭਾਹਿ ॥ |

| I gathered together a great stack of firewood, and applied a tiny flame to light it. |

| ਝੂਠ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਪੇਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ |
| jhooth samagree paekh sach kar jaaniaa || |
| Gazing upon the false objects, he believes them to be real. |
