| Grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, the desire of my mind, and my worries shall be over. |

| Without the Sanctuary of the Lord's Protection, who else's should I seek? ||6||1|| |

| ਤਾ ਕਉ ਧੋਖਾ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਓਟ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| thaa ko dhhokhaa kehaa biaapai jaa ko outt thuhaaree || rehaao || |
| How can anyone be deceived, who has Your Support, O Lord? ||Pause|| |

| mehaa pathith thae hoth puneethaa har keerathan gun gaavo ||1|| |
| I was a great sinner, but I have been made pure, singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Glorious Praises. ||1|| |

| ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜੁ ਰਹਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਪਲਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| saanth sehaj rehas man oupajiou sagalae dhookh palaaein ||1|| rehaao || |
| Peace, tranquility, poise and delight well up in my mind, and all sorrows run away. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਚਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ |
| saadhhasang param gath paaeeai maaeiaa rach bandhh haarae ||1|| |
| In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the supreme state is attained. But those who are engrossed in the bondage of Maya, lose the game of life. ||1|| |

| ਜਾ ਕੋ ਲਹਣੋ ਮਹਰਾਜ ਰੀ ਗਾਠੜੀਓ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਰਭਾਸਿ ਨ ਪਉੜਿਓ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੯॥ |
| jaa ko lehano meharaaj ree gaatharreeou jan naanak garabhaas n pourriou rae ||2||2||19|| |
| One who is destined to receive from the Lord, O servant Nanak, shall not be cast into the womb of reincarnation again. ||2||2||19|| |

| santh prasaadh maerae poor manorathh kar kirapaa bhaettae gunathaas || |
| By the Grace of the Saints, my desires have been fulfilled; in His Mercy, the Lord, the treasure of virtue, has met me. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਰਭ ਨ ਧੁਖੁ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੨੯॥ |
| naanak saran gehee sukh saagar janam maran fir garabh n dhhukh ||2||10||29|| |
| O Nanak, holding tight to the Sanctuary of the Lord, the ocean of peace, you shall not suffer the pains of birth and death, or fall into the womb of reincarnation again. ||2||10||29|| |

| ਨਾਮੇ ਮਧੇ ਰਾਮੁ ਆਛੈ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਆਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋ ॥੪॥੩॥ |
| naamae madhhae raam aashhai raam siaam gobindh go ||4||3|| |
| The Lord, Raam, is in Naam Dayv. So here they are: Raam, Shyaam, Govind. ||4||3|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
| har aapae hee math dhaevai suaamee har aapae bol bulaavai ||1|| |
| The Lord and Master Himself imparts understanding; the Lord Himself inspires us to speak. ||1|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥੧॥੭॥ |

| ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਾਹਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੀਤੜਾ ਲਬਿ ਰੰਗਾਏ ॥ |
| eihu than maaeiaa paahiaa piaarae leetharraa lab rangaaeae || |
| This body fabric is conditioned by Maya, O beloved; this cloth is dyed in greed. |

| ਜਾਤਿ ਸਨਾਤੀ ਹੋਰਿ ਹਿਦਵਾਣੀਆ ਏਹਿ ਭੀ ਲੇਖੈ ਲਾਇ ਵੇ ਲਾਲੋ ॥ |
| jaath sanaathee hor hidhavaaneeaa eaehi bhee laekhai laae vae laalo || |
| The Hindu women of high social status, and others of lowly status as well, are put into the same category, O Lalo. |

| ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| thaeree ttaek thaeraa aadhhaar || rehaao || |
| You are our support, You are our sustainer. ||Pause|| |

| ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| jin keeaa thin dhaekhiaa kiaa keheeai rae bhaaee || |
| The One who created the world watches over it; what more can we say, O Siblings of Destiny? |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਵਡ ਪੁੰਨੋ ॥੯॥ |
| gur har maarag dhasiaa gur punn vadd punno ||9|| |
| The Guru has shown me the Lord's Path; the Guru has done the greatest good deed. ||9|| |

| ਜੀਉ ਛੂਟਿਓ ਜਬ ਦੇਹ ਤੇ ਡਾਰਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਮੈ ਦੀਨਾ ॥੧॥ |
| jeeo shhoottiou jab dhaeh thae ddaar agan mai dheenaa ||1|| |
| will throw your body into the fire, when your soul departs from it. ||1|| |

| ਨਾਮੇ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ਮੀਰ ਮੁਕੰਦ ॥੪॥੨॥੩॥ |
| naamae kae svaamee meer mukandh ||4||2||3|| |
| You are the Lord and Master of Naam Dayv, the King, the Liberator of all. ||4||2||3|| |

| O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord is the blessing, given to those who receive His Mercy, and His Grace. ||4||3||5|| |

| koun guroo kai pehi dheekhiaa laevaa kai pehi mul karaavaa ||1|| |
| From what guru should I receive instruction? By whom should I have Your value appraised? ||1|| |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਚਾੜਿਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਭੰਙੁ ॥੧॥ |
| gur thuthai har rang chaarriaa fir bahurr n hovee bhann(g) ||1|| |
| When the Guru is totally satisfied and pleased, He colors us with the Lord's Love; this color shall never fade away. ||1|| |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਨਰੁ ਕੋਰਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| manamukh mugadhh nar koraa hoe || |
| The foolish, self-willed manmukh is left pale and uncolored. |
|
| ਜਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਤੁ ਸਹਾਈ ॥ |
| jithhai har aaraadhheeai thithhai har mith sehaaee || |
| Wherever the Lord is worshipped in adoration, there the Lord becomes one's friend and helper. |

| ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੇਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਾਇਹਿ ਤੇਹਾ ਹਉ ਕਰੀ ਵਖਿਆਨੁ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੧॥ |
| dhaasan dhaas kehai jan naanak jaehaa thoon karaaeihi thaehaa ho karee vakhiaan ||4||4||11|| |
| So speaks servant Nanak, the slave of Your slaves; as You make me speak, so do I speak. ||4||4||11|| |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥ |
| houmai rog sabh jagath biaapiaa thin ko janam maran dhukh bhaaree || |
| The entire world is afflicted by the disease of egotism. They suffer the terrible pains of birth and death. |

| ਸਾਚਿ ਲਗੈ ਤਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੨॥ |
| saach lagai thaa houmai jaaeeai ||2|| |
| When someone is attached to the True Lord, his ego is taken away. ||2|| |
|
| ਦੇਸ ਦਿਸੰਤਰ ਮੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਝਾਗੇ ॥ |
| dhaes dhisanthar mai sagalae jhaagae || |
| I have travelled through all the lands and the countries. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ |
| kahu naanak prabh bakhas kareejai || |
| Says Nanak, please forgive me, God. |

| ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੩॥ |
| saran naanak thinh sadh balihaarae ||4||7||13|| |
| Nanak seeks the Protection of their Sanctuary; he is forever a sacrifice to them. ||4||7||13|| |

| ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਗਨ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ॥ |
| lobh mohi magan aparaadhhee || |
| The sinner is absorbed in greed and emotional attachment. |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਸੰਤ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੨੩॥ |
| naanak maagai santh ravaalaa ||4||17||23|| |
| Nanak begs for the dust of the Saints. ||4||17||23|| |

| ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| dhrisatt dhhaar leeno larr laae || |
| Bestowing His Glance of Grace, He attaches us to the hem of His robe. |

| ਭਰਣ ਪੋਖਣ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਉਧ ਬਿਹਾਣੀ ॥ |
| bharan pokhan sang aoudhh bihaanee || |
| Feeding and pampering your body, your life is passing away, |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਰਖਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੋਆ ॥੨॥੩੩॥੩੯॥ |
| naanak rakhaa aapae hoaa ||2||33||39|| |
| O Nanak, He Himself has become my Savior. ||2||33||39|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੨॥੩॥੪੩॥ |
| naanak kee prabh baenathee saadhhasang samaao ||2||3||43|| |
| This is Nanak's prayer, O Lord, that he may join and merge with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||2||3||43|| |

| ho kurabaanee thaeriaa saevakaa jinh har naam piaaraa ||3|| |
| I am a sacrifice to Your servants; they love Your Name, O Lord. ||3|| |

| ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਸੂਦ ਵੈਸ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਕਉ ਸਾਝਾ ॥ |
| khathree braahaman soodh vais oupadhaes chahu varanaa ko saajhaa || |
| The four castes - the Kh'shaatriyas, Brahmins, Soodras and Vaishyas - are equal in respect to the teachings. |

| O my Sovereign Lord, You belong to the Saints, and the Saints belong to You. |

| ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਤੈ ਰਾਵੇਸੀ ॥੮॥੧॥ |
| jai bhaavai piaaraa thai raavaesee ||8||1|| |
| She alone is ravished and enjoyed, with whom the Beloved Lord is pleased. ||8||1|| |

| ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ |
| man than sach salaahi saachae man bhaaeiaa || |
| One who praises the True Lord with his mind and body, pleases the Mind of the True Lord. |

| ਹਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੂ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤੁਧ ਹੀ ਸਾਜਿਆ ॥ |
| ho naahee thoo hovehi thudhh hee saajiaa || |
| When there is no ego, there You are; You fashioned all of this. |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੬॥ |
| gur kai sabadh raathaa sehajae maathaa sehajae rehiaa samaaeae ||6|| |
| Attuned to the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one is naturally intoxicated, merging imperceptibly into the Lord. ||6|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥੮॥੨॥ |
| naanak sach vaddiaaee paaeae jis no har kirapaa dhhaaree ||8||2|| |
| O Nanak, true glory is bestowed, when the Lord showers His Mercy. ||8||2|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਬਣਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥੧੭॥ |
| gur sabadhee mail outharai thaa sach baniaa seegaar ||17|| |
| Through the Guru's Teachings, filth is washed away, and then, one is embellished with the ornament of Truth. ||17|| |

| The Gurmukhs chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. |

| ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੈ ਮਰਤਾ ਤਿਉ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੫॥ |
| jio praanee jal bin hai marathaa thio sikh gur bin mar jaaee ||15|| |
| Just as the mortal dies without water, so does the Sikh die without the Guru. ||15|| |
