| sathigur miliai har paaeiaa miliaa sehaj subhaae ||5|| |
| Meeting the True Guru, I have found the Lord. He has met me, easily and effortlessly. ||5|| |

| I shall never forget Him from my mind, since He has been so merciful to me. ||5|| |

| ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥੪॥ |
| naam binaa sukh naahi sarapar haariaa ||4|| |
| Without the Naam, there is no peace at all, and the mortal will surely fail. ||4|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ |
| gur sabadhee sahu paaeiaa sach naanak kee aradhaas jeeo ||2|| |
| Through the Word of the Guru's Teachings, I have found my Husband Lord. This is Nanak's true prayer. ||2|| |

| naanak saach sabadh sukh mehalee gur charanee prabh chaethae ||3|| |
| O Nanak, the peace of the Mansion of God's Presence comes through the True Word of the Shabad; the bride keeps the Guru's Feet enshrined in her mind. ||3|| |

| ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਭਈ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਾਸਾ ॥ |
| dharasan dhaekh bhee nihakaeval janam maran dhukh naasaa || |
| Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, I have become free of desire; the pains of birth and death are taken away. |

| ਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਹੋਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਝ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ |
| jae gun hovanih saajanaa mil saajh kareejai || |
| If my friends have virtues, I will share in them. |

| ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਪੁੰਨ ਪੂਜਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ |
| man maahi saajan karehi raleeaa karam dhharam sabaaeiaa || athasath theerathh punn poojaa naam saachaa bhaaeiaa || |
| In their minds, these friends celebrate in happiness; all good karma, righteousness and Dharma, the sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage, charity and worship, are found in the love of the True Name. |

| ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥ |
| jin ko dhhur likhiaa thin gur miliaa thin janam maran bho bhaagaa || |
| Those who have such pre-ordained destiny, meet the Guru, and their fears of birth and death leave them. |

| ਭਗਤਿ ਵਿਹੂਣਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਭਰਮਿਆ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਿਆ ॥ |
| bhagath vihoonaa sabh jag bharamiaa anth gaeiaa pashhuthaaniaa || |
| Without devotional worship, everyone in the world is deluded and confused, and in the end, they depart with regrets. |

| ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਧਨ ਜੇ ਭਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| jug chaarae dhhan jae bhavai bin sathigur sohaag n hoee raam || |
| The soul-bride may wander throughout the four ages, but still, without the True Guru, she will not find her True Husband Lord. |

| ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਨਿਸਤਰੇ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ |
| jinh man vasiaa saeee jan nisatharae ghatt ghatt sabadh samaanee || |
| Those humble beings, within whose minds it abides, are emancipated; the Shabad permeates each and every heart. |

| ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jug chaarae saachaa eaeko varathai bin gur kinai n paaeiaa || |
| Throughout the four ages, the One True Lord is permeating and pervading; without the Guru, no one finds Him. |

| ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥੬॥੭॥੫॥੭॥੧੨॥ |
| gur saevan sathigur dhaathaa har har naam samaaeae ||4||6||7||5||7||12|| |
| Those who serve the Guru, the True Guru, the Giver, merge in the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||4||6||7||5||7||12|| |

| ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sehaj anandh hoaa vaddabhaagee man har har meethaa laaeiaa || |
| By great good fortune, celestial bliss is attained, and the Lord, Har, Har, seems sweet to the mind. |

| ਨਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਹੋਆ ਵਾਸਾ ॥ |
| nadhar prabhoo sathasangath paaee nij ghar hoaa vaasaa || |
| By God's Grace, I found the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. I dwell in the home of my own inner being. |

| ਜੀਵਤਿਆ ਮਰੀਐ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰੀਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥ |
| jeevathiaa mareeai bhoujal thareeai guramukh naam samaavai || |
| Remaining dead while yet alive, cross over the terrifying world-ocean; as Gurmukh, merge in the Naam. |

| ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਅਗਮ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥ |
| maeraa thaakur agam dhaeiaal hai raam raajiaa kar kirapaa laehu milaaee || |
| My Lord and Master is infinitely compassionate; O Sovereign Lord, be merciful, and merge me into Yourself. |

| ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਤੀ ਤੁਸਿ ਕੈ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| har charan kamal kee ttaek sathigur dhithee thus kai bal raam jeeo || |
| The True Guru was satisfied with me, and blessed me with the Support of the Lord's Lotus Feet. I am a sacrifice to the Lord. |

| ਮਨੁ ਤੰਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਣਾ ॥ |
| man thann niramal dhaekh dharasan naam prabh kaa mukh bhanaa || |
| My mind and body have become immaculate and pure, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan; I chant the Name of God. |

| ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਬਰੀਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਪਰਦਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| ho bal jaaee lakh lakh lakh bareeaa jin bhram paradhaa kholhaa raam || |
| I am a sacrifice, thousands, hundreds of thousands of times, to the Lord. He has torn away the veil of doubt; |

| ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਠੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨੇਰ ਹੂ ਤੇ ਨੇਰਾ ॥ |
| bharam moh bikaar naathae prabh naer hoo thae naeraa || |
| Doubt, attachment and corruption are gone. God is the nearest of the near. |

| ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਮਿਟੀ ਬਲਾਇਆ ਸਾਚੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਫਲਿਆ ॥ |
| har prabh furamaaeiaa mittee balaaeiaa saach dhharam punn faliaa || |
| When the Lord God so commands, misfortune is averted; true righteousness, Dharma and charity flourish. |

| ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਏ ॥ |
| jal thhal meheeal poor pooran this binaa nehee jaaeae || |
| The Perfect Lord is perfectly pervading and permeating the water, the land and the sky; there is no place without Him. |

| ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਦੀਨੇ ਕਰਤੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| nav nidhh sidhh ridhh dheenae karathae thott n aavai kaaee raam || |
| The Creator has given me the nine treasures, wealth and spiritual powers, and I do not lack anything. |

| ਸਹਜ ਸੂਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਨਠੀ ਗਾਠੇ ॥ |
| sehaj sookh aanandh ghanaerae houmai binathee gaathae || |
| I have been blessed with peace, poise and abundant bliss, and the knot of egotism has been untied. |

| ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੰਤ ਮਿਲੀ ॥੨॥ |
| jo this bhaavai so thheeai ein bidhh kanth milee ||2|| |
| Whatever pleases Him, happens. In this way, the Husband Lord is met. ||2|| |

| ਸੂਹਵੀਏ ਸੂਹਾ ਵੇਸੁ ਛਡਿ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਪਿਰ ਲਗੀ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ |
| soohaveeeae soohaa vaes shhadd thoo thaa pir lagee piaar || |
| O red-robed woman, discard your red dress, and then, you shall come to love your Husband Lord. |

| ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਗੋਈ ॥ |
| aapae srisatt oupaaeean aapae fun goee || |
| He Himself created the Universe, and He Himself shall destroy it afterwards. |

| ਤਿਨ ਜਰੁ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿ ਬੁਢੇ ਥੀਇ ਮਰੰਨਿ ॥੨॥ |
| thin jar vairee naanakaa j budtae thheee marann ||2|| |
| Old age is their enemy, O Nanak; when they grow old, they waste away. ||2|| |

| ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਓਨੁ ਸਭ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪੇ ॥੧੩॥ |
| sabh jag khael rachaaeioun sabh varathai aapae ||13|| |
| He created the entire world for His play; He is pervading amongst all. ||13|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਸਚਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| guramukh saev salaahi sachaa our dhhaariaa || |
| The Gurmukh serves and praises the True Lord, enshrining Him within his heart. |

| ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਕੋਇ ਮੰਞੁ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਇਕੁ ਤੂ ॥ |
| kis hee koee koe mannj nimaanee eik thoo || |
| Some people have others, but I am forlorn and dishonored; I have only You, Lord. |

| ਖਸਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਮਾਟੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਰੂਲੇ ॥੪॥੩॥ |
| khasam bisaar maattee sang roolae ||4||3|| |
| who forget their Lord and Master, and roll in the dust. ||4||3|| |

| ਦੂਰਿ ਗਵਨੁ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੧॥ |
| dhoor gavan sir oopar maranaa ||1|| |
| We must go far away. Death is hovering over our heads. ||1|| |
 |
| ਹੰਸੁ ਚਲਸੀ ਡੁੰਮਣਾ ਅਹਿ ਤਨੁ ਢੇਰੀ ਥੀਸੀ ॥੩॥੨॥ |
| hans chalasee ddunmanaa ahi than dtaeree thheesee ||3||2|| |
| the soul departs, sad at heart, and this body returns to dust. ||3||2|| |
 |
| ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ |
| thoo dhaathaa naam paravaan ||1|| |
| You are the Great Giver; Your Name alone is approved. ||1|| |
 |
| ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਗਹਣ ਗਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਸਚੈ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥ |
| thin kee gehan gath kehee n jaaee sachai aap savaarae || |
| His depth and condition cannot be described. The True Lord Himself embellishes him. |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਗਿ ਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥੩॥ |
| guramukh jinee dhhiaaeiaa har har jag thae poorae paravaanaa ||3|| |
| They are Gurmukh, who meditate on the Lord, Har, Har; in this world, they are perfect and approved. ||3|| |
 |
| ਜਿਉ ਨਟੂਆ ਤੰਤੁ ਵਜਾਏ ਤੰਤੀ ਤਿਉ ਵਾਜਹਿ ਜੰਤ ਜਨਾ ॥੧॥ |
| jio nattooaa thanth vajaaeae thanthee thio vaajehi janth janaa ||1|| |
| As the violinist plays upon the strings of the violin, so does the Lord play the living beings. ||1|| |

| ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਖੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| masathak likhath likhae gun gaaeae mil sangath paar parahu ||1|| rehaao || |
| According to the pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon your forehead, sing the Praises of the Lord; join the Holy Congregation, and cross over the world-ocean. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਭਗਤ ਤਾਰਨੋ ॥ |
| har santh bhagath thaarano || |
| The Lord emancipates his Saints and devotees. |

| ਸੁਖ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ॥ |
| sukh nidhhaan preetham prabh maerae || |
| You are the treasure of peace, O my Beloved God. |
 |
| ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ਨ ਸਕਤਿ ਹੀ ਕਾਈ ਸਾਧਾ ਦਾਸੀ ਥੀਓ ॥ |
| maan mehath n sakath hee kaaee saadhhaa dhaasee thheeou || |
| You have no honor, glory or power - become the slave of the Holy Saints. |

| ਬਸਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| bas rehae hiradhai gur charan piaarae ||1|| rehaao || |
| The Beloved Feet of the Guru abide within my heart. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ਮੀਤਾ ॥ |
| sagal manorathh paaeeahi meethaa || |
| All desires are fulfilled, O my friend, |

| ਅਰਥ ਧਰਮ ਕਾਮ ਮੋਖ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥ |
| arathh dhharam kaam mokh kaa dhaathaa || |
| He is the Giver of wealth, Dharmic faith, pleasure and liberation. |

| ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥ |
| kaaraj sathigur aap savaariaa || |
| The True Guru Himself has resolved my affairs. |

| ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਗੁਣ ਚੀਨ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sadhaa sehaaee sang prabh anmrith gun cheen || rehaao || |
| God is always my Helper and Companion; I contemplate His Ambrosial Virtues. ||Pause|| |
