ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥ |
guramukh sadh saevehi sacho sachaa guramukh sabadh sunaaeidhaa ||6|| |
The Gurmukh serves the Truest of the True forever; the Gurmukh proclaims the Word of the Shabad. ||6|| |

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਧੋਵਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ |
man than dhhovehi sabadh veechaaree || |
The mind and body are washed clean, contemplating the Shabad. |

ਪਾਤਾਲ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਲੋਅ ਆਕਾਰਾ ॥ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਾਰਾ ॥ |
paathaal pureeaa loa aakaaraa || this vich varathai hukam karaaraa || |
Your Almighty Command prevails throughout the nether worlds, realms and worlds of form. |

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪਉਣੁ ਵਹੈ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਵਣੈ ਸਭ ਵਜਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥ |
ghatt ghatt poun vehai eik rangee mil pavanai sabh vajaaeidhaa ||4|| |
The breath flows equally through the hearts of each and every being. Receiving the breath, all the instruments sing. ||4|| |

ਨਾਵੈ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਕੋ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥ |
naavai kaa vaapaaree hovai gur sabadhee ko paaeidhaa ||3|| |
One who deals in the Name, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, obtains it. ||3|| |

ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਏ ॥ |
thaeraa bhaanaa mannae s milai thudhh aaeae || |
One who surrenders to Your Will, meets with You, Lord. |

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥ |
anadhin har saevihu sachee baanee har jeeo sabadh milaaeidhaa ||1|| |
Night and day, serve the Lord, and chant the True Word of the Guru's Bani. Through the Shabad, meet the Dear Lord. ||1|| |

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਕੋ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੭॥੨੧॥ |
naanak naam salaahae saachaa poorai bhaag ko paaeidhaa ||16||7||21|| |
Nanak praises the Naam, the True Name of the Lord; through perfect destiny, He is found. ||16||7||21|| |

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਸਬਦੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥ |
aapae mael milaaeae aapae sabadhae sehaj samaaeidhaa ||15|| |
He Himself unites in His Union; through the Word of the Shabad, one intuitively merges with Him. ||15|| |

ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਇਸੁ ਤਨਹਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥ |
agiaan thrisanaa eis thanehi jalaaeae || |
Spiritual ignorance and desire burn this human body. |
 |
ਆਪੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧੪॥ |
aapae kirapaa karae sukhadhaathaa aapae mael milaaeiaa ||14|| |
The Giver of peace Himself bestows His Mercy, and unites us in Union with Himself. ||14|| |

ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋਵੈ ॥ |
sehajae jaagai sehajae sovai || |
In intuitive peace he wakes, and in intuitive peace he sleeps. |

ਵਿਚੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਜਿਉ ਕਮਲੁ ਰਹੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥ |
vichae grih sadhaa rehai oudhaasee jio kamal rehai vich paanee hae ||10|| |
In his own home, he remains unattached, like the lotus flower in the water. ||10|| |

ਮੀਤੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ |
meeth hamaaraa soee suaamee || |
My Lord and Master is my best friend. |
 |
ਭਈ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਸੰਗੇ ਤਉ ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਅਨੰਦ ਉਲਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥ |
bhee kirapaa naanak sathasangae tho dhhan pir anandh oulaasaa hae ||5|| |
When the Lord becomes Merciful, O Nanak, then in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, the bride and the husband enjoy ecstasy and bliss. ||5|| |

ਸਚੁ ਖਜੀਨਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹੀ ॥ |
sach khajeenaa saachaa saahee || |
True is the treasure of the True Banker. |

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਸਤ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਅਸਥਾਨਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ |
gur saasath simrith khatt karamaa gur pavithra asathhaanaa hae ||1|| |
The Guru is the Shaastras, the Simritees and the six rituals. The Guru is the Holy Shrine. ||1|| |

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਲਾਇ ਧਿਆਨਾ ॥ |
guramukh japeeai laae dhhiaanaa || |
Become Gurmukh, chant and focus your meditation. |
 |
ਇਕਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਇਕਿ ਘਰ ਬਾਰੀ ॥ |
eik oudhaasee eik ghar baaree || |
Some turn away from the world in renunciation, and some maintain their households. |
 |
ਏਕੋ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਗਾਇਣਾ ॥੨॥ |
eaeko manthra dhrirraaeae aoukhadhh sach naam ridh gaaeinaa ||2|| |
He shall administer the medicine, the Mantra of the One Name. Sing the True Name within your heart. ||2|| |

ਪਉਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸਿਮਰੈ ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਰਜਨਾ ॥੧॥ |
poun paanee baisanthar simarehi simarai sagal oupaarajanaa ||1|| |
Air, water and fire meditate in remembrance. All creation meditates in remembrance. ||1|| |

ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ॥ |
thoo sabhanaa kaa sabh ko thaeraa || saachae saahib gehir ganbheeraa || |
You belong to all, and all belong to You, O my true, deep and profound Lord and Master. |

ਏਕੋ ਦਾਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਆਨ ਮੰਗਨ ਨਿਹਕਿੰਚਨਾ ॥੧੪॥ |
eaeko dhaan sarab sukh gun nidhh aan mangan nihakinchanaa ||14|| |
Please bless me with this one gift, O treasure of all bliss and virtue; I do not ask for anything else. ||14|| |

ਆਪੇ ਸਕਤੀ ਸਬਲੁ ਕਹਾਇਆ ॥ |
aapae sakathee sabal kehaaeiaa || |
You Yourself are called the God of Supreme Power. |
 |
ਧਨੰਜੈ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਹੈ ਮਹੀਐ ॥ |
dhhananjai jal thhal hai meheeai || |
The Lord of prosperity, pervading the water, the land and the sky. |
 |
ਹੂਰ ਨੂਰ ਮੁਸਕੁ ਖੁਦਾਇਆ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਅਲਹ ਆਲਾ ਹੁਜਰਾ ॥੫॥ |
hoor noor musak khudhaaeiaa bandhagee aleh aalaa hujaraa ||5|| |
God is the beauty, the light and the fragrance. Meditation on Allah is the secluded meditation chamber. ||5|| |

ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ਸਾਲਕਾ ॥੫॥ |
kar gehi leenae andhh koop thae viralae kaeee saalakaa ||5|| |
Grasping hold of his arm, God lifts him up and pulls him out of the deep, dark pit. Such a devotee of the Lord is very rare. ||5|| |

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਰਖੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ |
aath pehar har rakh man maahee || |
twenty-four hours a day, keep the Lord in your mind. |
 |
ਗੁਣ ਕਾ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਉ ਗੁਣੁ ਲਾਖ ਵਿਕਾਇ ॥ |
gun kaa gaahak jae milai tho gun laakh vikaae || |
But if one meets a buyer of virtue, then virtue sells for hundreds of thousands. |

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਖਾ ॥ |
gur parasaadhee oubarae jin har ras chakhaa || |
By Guru's Grace, those who drink in the sublime essence of the Lord are saved. |

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ |
har kaa naam amol hai kio keemath keejai || |
The Name of the Lord is priceless. How can its value be estimated? |

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਸੀ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥ |
naanak man hee ko man maarasee jae sathigur bhaettai soe ||2|| |
O Nanak, the mind itself conquers the mind, if one meets with the True Guru. ||2|| |

dhoojai bharam bhulaaeiaa houmai dhukh paahee || |
He is deluded by duality and doubt. In egotism, he suffers in pain. |

ਹਉ ਮੈ ਕਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਤੂ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੂ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਹਉ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ |
ho mai karee thaan thoo naahee thoo hovehi ho naahi || |
When one acts in egotism, then You are not there, Lord. Wherever You are, there is no ego. |

ਹਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਪੜੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
har saalaahae har parrai gur kai sabadh veechaar || |
He praises the Lord, and reads of the Lord, and contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

ਤੁਧੁ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤੂ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਜਗ ਉਧਰਣ ॥ |
thudhh aparr koe n sakai thoo abinaasee jag oudhharan || |
No one can equal You; You are imperishable and eternal, the Savior of the world. |

ਮੁਦਤਿ ਪਈ ਚਿਰਾਣੀਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਡੂ ਆਵੈ ਰੁਤਿ ॥੩॥ |
mudhath pee chiraaneeaa fir kaddoo aavai ruth ||3|| |
Such a long time has passed. When will this opportunity come again? ||3|| |

ਫਿਰਦਾ ਕਿਤੈ ਹਾਲਿ ਜਾ ਡਿਠਮੁ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਾਪਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
firadhaa kithai haal jaa dditham thaa man dhhraapiaa ||1|| |
I wandered around in such a miserable state, but when I saw You, my mind was comforted and consoled. ||1|| |

ਸਭਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀਆ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਦਿਤੀਓ ਸਤਵੰਤਾ ਸਾੜਾ ॥ |
sabh eindhreeaa vas kar dhitheeou sathavanthaa saarraa || |
The True Lord has brought all my senses and organs under my control. |

ਅਕਲ ਕਲਾ ਨਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਲਖ ਅਲੇਖੰ ॥ |
akal kalaa neh paaeeai prabh alakh alaekhan || |
God is not found by intellectual devices; He is unknowable and unseen. |

ਲੋਇਣ ਲੋਈ ਡਿਠ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਬੁਝੈ ਮੂ ਘਣੀ ॥ |
loein loee ddith piaas n bujhai moo ghanee || |
With my eyes, I have seen the Light; my great thirst for Him is not quenched. |

ਡੁਖੇ ਕੋੜਿ ਨ ਡੁਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਰੀ ਪਿਖੰਦੋ ਸੁਭ ਦਿਸਟਿ ॥੧॥ |
ddukhae korr n ddukh naanak piree pikhandho subh dhisatt ||1|| |
millions of pains do not cause him pain. O Nanak, the Husband Lord blesses him with his Glance of Grace. ||1|| |

ਮੁਹਿ ਮੰਗਾਂ ਸੋਈ ਦੇਵਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ॥ |
muhi mangaan soee dhaevadhaa har pithaa sukhadhaaeik || |
Whatever I ask for, He give me; the Lord is my peace-giving father. |

ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਪੜੇ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਗੁਨੁ ਖਰ ਚੰਦਨ ਜਸ ਭਾਰਾ ॥ |
baedh puraan parrae kaa kiaa gun khar chandhan jas bhaaraa || |
What is the use of reading the Vedas and the Puraanas? It is like loading a donkey with sandalwood. |

ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਹੁ ਮਰਹੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਜੀਵਹੁ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
jeevath marahu marahu fun jeevahu punarap janam n hoee || |
Die while yet alive, and by so dying, be alive; thus you shall not be reborn again. |

ਮੋ ਕਉ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਿ ਵਣਾਹੰਬੈ ॥੮॥੧॥੮॥ |
mo ko bhoujal paar outhaar vanaahanbai ||8||1||8|| |
Carry me across the terrifying world-ocean. ||8||1||8|| |

ਰਾਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਕੈਸੇ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
raam naam jaaniou nehee kaisae outharas paar ||4||1|| |
They do not know the Lord's Name; how can they be carried across? ||4||1|| |

ਕਹਿ ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਉਦਾਸ ਦਾਸ ਮਤਿ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਭੈ ਭਾਗੀ ॥੩॥੨॥੧੫॥ |
kehi ravidhaas oudhaas dhaas math janam maran bhai bhaagee ||3||2||15|| |
Says Ravi Daas, the Lord's slave remains detached from the world; the fear of birth and death runs away from his mind. ||3||2||15|| |

In the month of Chayt, the lovely spring has come, and the bumble bees hum with joy. |
