| har ras chaahai pria pria mukh ttaerai jio al kamalaa lobhaangai ||1|| |
| I long for the sublime essence of the Lord, calling, ""Pri-o! Pri-o! - Beloved! Beloved!"", like the Bumble bee longing for the lotus flower. ||1|| |

| ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਉ ਖੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੀਨਾ ॥ |
| grihu thaeraa thoo thaakur maeraa gur ho khoee prabh dheenaa || |
| My household belongs to You, O my Lord and Master; the Guru has blessed me with God, and rid me of egotism. |

| ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਿ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਬਲਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਕੀਓ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥ |
| andhh koop mehi dheepak baliou gur ridhai keeou paragaasaa || |
| Lighting the lamp in the deep dark pit, the Guru illumines and enlightens the heart. |

| ਨੈਣ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਾਵਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਰ ਧਾਰੇ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥੇ ॥ |
| nain thripathaasae dhaekh dharasaavaa gur kar dhhaarae maerai maathhae || |
| My eyes were satisfied and fulfilled, gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, when the Guru placed His Hand on my forehead. |

| ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਨਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੀਐ ਬਿਸਰਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| this bin nimakh nehee rehi sakeeai bisar n kabehoo jaaee || |
| I cannot survive without Him, even for an instant; I shall never forget Him. |

| ਕਰਨਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਆਪੇ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੩੦॥੫੩॥ |
| karanaa aap karaavan aapae kahu naanak aap aapaaeiou ||2||30||53|| |
| He Himself is the Creator, the Cause of causes. Says Nanak, He Himself is All-in-all. ||2||30||53|| |

| ਦਿਉਸ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੇ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਸੰਗੀ ਊਹਾਂ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਹ ਭਾਰੀ ॥ |
| dhious chaar kae dheesehi sangee oohaan naahee jeh bhaaree || |
| His companions of these few days will not be there when he is in trouble. |

| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਨ ॥੧॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa thum hee path raakhahu antharajaamee jaan ||1|| |
| Forever and ever, You preserve my honor, O Inner-knower, O Searcher of hearts. ||1|| |

| ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਦ ॥੨॥੪੬॥੬੯॥ |
| anadh bhaeiaa naanak man saachaa pooran poorae naadh ||2||46||69|| |
| I am in ecstasy, O Nanak, and my mind is filled with Truth, through the perfect perfection of the Sound-current of the Naad. ||2||46||69|| |

| Says Nanak, the Guru has broken my bonds, and ended my separaation; He has united me with God. ||2||51||74|| |

| saanjhee karahu naam dhhan khaattahu gur kaa sabadh veechaarae ||1|| rehaao || |
| So become a partner with them, and earn the wealth of the Naam. Contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||Pause|| |

| aavath jaath dhooo pakh pooran paaeeai sukh bisraam ||1|| |
| My cycle of coming and going is finally completed, and I have attained peace and tranquility. ||1|| |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੬੭॥੯੦॥ |
| saadhhasang jin har har japiou naanak so paravaanaa ||2||67||90|| |
| who chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. O Nanak, he alone is approved. ||2||67||90|| |

| I find happiness in the world hereafter, and peace and pleasure in this world, meditating in remembrance on the Name of my Lord and Master. ||1||Pause|| |

| hohu kirapaal dheen dhukh bhanjan thaeriaa santheh kee raavaar || |
| Please be merciful to me, O Destroyer of the pains of the meek and the poor; let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints. |

| ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਚਲਤ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰਿ ॥ |
| thrisanaa chalath bahu parakaar || |
| Desire plays itself out in so many ways. |

| ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਪਰਹਰੀਆ ਕਾਢੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥ |
| kaam krodhh nindhaa parehareeaa kaadtae saadhhoo kai sang maar || |
| Sexual desire, anger and slander are gone; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have beaten them and driven them out. |

| ਏਕੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੀਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਦ ॥੨॥੯੪॥੧੧੭॥ |
| eaek adhhaar naanak jan keeaa bahur n jon bhramaadh ||2||94||117|| |
| Servant Nanak has taken the Support of the One Lord. He shall not wander in reincarnation ever again. ||2||94||117|| |

| har har japath sarab sukh paaeae beechae grasath oudhaas ||1|| rehaao || |
| Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have found total peace. I remain unattached in the midst of my household. ||1||Pause|| |

| jaa ko mael leae prabh naanak sae jan dharageh maanae ||2||105||128|| |
| One whom God unites with Himself, O Nanak, that humble being is honored in the Court of the Lord. ||2||105||128|| |

| gur mo ko oupadhaesiaa naanak saev eaek haree ||2||8||137|| |
| The Guru has taught me, O Nanak, to serve only the One Lord. ||2||8||137|| |

| ਮਨ ਕਰਿ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇਓ ॥ |
| man kar kabehoo n har gun gaaeiou || |
| In my mind, I never sang the Glorious Praises of the Lord. |

| ਅਭਰਤ ਸਿੰਚਿ ਭਏ ਸੁਭਰ ਸਰ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥ |
| abharath sinch bheae subhar sar guramath saach nihaalaa || |
| The empty tank has been filled to overflowing. Following the Guru's Teachings, I am enraptured with the True Lord. |

| ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਤਿ ਮੀਠਾ ॥ |
| man maerae har kaa naam ath meethaa || |
| O my mind, the Name of the Lord is supremely sweet. |

| ਸੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥ |
| sae dhar saachai saach kamaavehi jin guramukh saach adhhaaraa || |
| In the Court of the True Lord, they practice Truth. The Gurmukhs take the Support of the True Lord. |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਮਹੇਸ ਬੈਸਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਰਹਿ ॥ |
| anik mehaes bais dhhiaan dhharehi || |
| Many Shivas sit in deep meditation. |
 |
| ਪੂਰਨ ਮਨਮੋਹਨ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਸੋਹਨ ਜਬ ਖਿੰਚੈ ਤਬ ਛਾਈ ॥ |
| pooran manamohan ghatt ghatt sohan jab khinchai thab shhaaee || |
| The Perfect Enticing Lord adorns each and every heart. When He withdraws, the mortal turns to dust. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਭ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak sach varathadhaa sabh sach samaaeiaa ||1|| |
| O Nanak, the True Lord is pervading everywhere; all are contained within the True Lord. ||1|| |

| ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਪੀਤਾ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਦਿ ॥੧॥ |
| thinhee peethaa rang sio jinh ko likhiaa aadh ||1|| |
| They alone drink it in with love, who have such pre-ordained destiny. ||1|| |

| ਸਭਿ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਘਟ ਅਉਘਟ ਘਟ ਥਾਪਿ ॥ |
| sabh kaaran karathaa karae ghatt aoughatt ghatt thhaap || |
| The Creator Lord does all deeds; He is established in the hearts of the high and the low. |

| ਘਰਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਸਭਾ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ |
| ghar naaraaein sabhaa naal || |
| In your home, is the Lord God, along with all your other gods. |
 |
| ਪੁਛਾ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਪੰਡਿਤਾਂ ਪੁਛਾ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ |
| pushhaa giaanee panddithaan pushhaa baedh beechaar || |
| I could ask the spiritual teachers and religious scholars, and those who contemplate the Vedas; |

| ਜਿਨ ਜੀਵੰਦਿਆ ਪਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਮੁਇਆ ਮੰਦੀ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| jin jeevandhiaa path nehee mueiaa mandhee soe || |
| Those who have no honor while alive, will have an evil reputation after they die. |
 |
| ਸਚੁ ਬੀਜੈ ਸਚੁ ਉਗਵੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਥਾਉ ॥ |
| sach beejai sach ougavai dharageh paaeeai thhaao || |
| When Truth is planted, Truth grows. In the Court of the Lord, you shall find your place of honor. |

| ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਥਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sathasangath naam nidhhaan hai jithhahu har paaeiaa || |
| The treasure of the Name is in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. There, the Lord is found. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਹੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਸੇਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak raahu pashhaanehi saee ||1|| |
| - O Nanak, he knows the Path. ||1|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵੀਜੈ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak sukhadhaathaa sadhaa salaahihu rasanaa raam raveejai ||2|| |
| O Nanak, praise the Giver of peace forever; with your tongue, savor the Lord. ||2|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੇਤਈ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰੀ ॥ |
| har naam kadhae n chaethee jamakaal sir maaree || |
| They never even think of the Name of the Lord; the Messenger of Death shall hit them on their heads. |

| ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ਸਾਸ ਆਵ ਘਟੈ ਬੇਤਾਲਿਆ ॥ |
| jamakaal nihaalae saas aav ghattai baethaaliaa || |
| But the Messenger of Death keeps his gaze on their breath, and the life of those goblins decreases day by day. |

| ਦੇਸਿ ਪਰਦੇਸਿ ਧਨੁ ਚੋਰਾਇ ਆਣਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| dhaes paradhaes dhhan choraae aan muhi paaeiaa || |
| Stealing the wealth of his own country and other lands, he brings it home and feeds them. |
 |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕਈ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ॥੩੪॥ |
| naanak aparr koe n sakee poorae sathigur kee vaddiaaeeaa ||34|| |
| O Nanak, no one can equal the glory of the Perfect True Guru. ||34|| |

| ਰਾਵਨ ਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਲਾਤ ॥੨॥ |
| raavan hoon thae adhhik shhathrapath khin mehi geae bilaath ||2|| |
| Emperors, even greater than Raawan, passed away in an instant. ||2|| |
 |
| ਮੇਰੀ ਬਾਂਧੀ ਭਗਤੁ ਛਡਾਵੈ ਬਾਂਧੈ ਭਗਤੁ ਨ ਛੂਟੈ ਮੋਹਿ ॥ |
| maeree baandhhee bhagath shhaddaavai baandhhai bhagath n shhoottai mohi || |
| The devotee can release anyone from my bondage, but I cannot release anyone from his. |

| ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਉਡਨ ਪੰਖੇਰੂ ਬਨ ਕਾ ॥੨॥੧॥੯॥ |
| kehai kabeer sunahu rae santhahu eihu man ouddan pankhaeroo ban kaa ||2||1||9|| |
| Says Kabeer, listen, O Saints: this mind is like the bird, flying above the forest. ||2||1||9|| |

| ਸਾਚੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਤ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ |
| saachee surath naam nehee thripathae houmai karath gavaaeiaa || |
| They pretend to understand the Truth, but they are not satisfied by the Naam; they waste their lives in egotism. |

| ਭੀਤਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਆਚਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| bheethar anmrith soee jan paavai jis gur kaa sabadh rathan aachaar ||1|| rehaao || |
| That humble being, whose conduct is in harmony with the jewel of the Guru's Shabad, obtains the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਿਲਾ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਪੀਸਣੁ ਹਥਿ ਦਾਨੁ ॥ |
| silaa santhokh peesan hathh dhaan || |
| Grind it up in the mortar of contentment, with the pestle of charitable giving. |
 |
| ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਊਪਰਿ ਫੇਨੁ ਬੁਦਬੁਦਾ ਤੈਸਾ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| jio jal oopar faen budhabudhaa thaisaa eihu sansaaraa || |
| Like foam bubbling up on the surface of the water, so is this world. |
