| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਹੋਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| sathigur dhaathaa raam naam kaa hor dhaathaa koee naahee || |
| The True Guru is the Giver of the Lord's Name. There is no other giver at all. |

| man kee bidhh sathigur thae jaanai anadhin laagai sadh har sio dhhiaan || |
| From the True Guru, they learn the ways and means of the mind. Night and day, they focus their meditation on the Lord forever. |

| ਚੰਦਨ ਗੰਧ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਬਹਕਾਰਿ ॥ |
| chandhan gandhh sugandhh hai bahu baasanaa behakaar || |
| The smell of sandalwood is so sublime; its fragrance spreads out far and wide. |

| ਹਾਜਰੁ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ॥ |
| haajar hajoor har vaeparavaahaa || |
| The Lord is Independent, Ever-present, here and now. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸਿਓ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਵਸਿ ਕਰਿ ਲਇਆ ॥ |
| thudhh aapae aap oupaaeiaa sabh jag thudhh aapae vas kar laeiaa || |
| You Yourself created the whole world, and You Yourself keep it under Your control. |

| ਹਰਿ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਮੀਤੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ |
| har hamaaro meeth sakhaaee ham har sio preeth laagee || |
| The Lord is my Friend and Compansion; I am in love with the Lord. |

| ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਮੈ ਪਾਹੁਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਉ ਨਿਵਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੨॥ |
| khojath khojath mai paahun miliou bhagath karo niv paaeae ||2|| |
| Seeking and searching, I have found my Husband Lord; I bow at His Feet and worship Him with devotion. ||2|| |

| ਹਮ ਤੇਰੀ ਧਰ ਸੁਆਮੀਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਬਿਸਾਰੇ ॥ |
| ham thaeree dhhar suaameeaa maerae thoo kio manahu bisaarae || |
| I take to Your Support, O my Lord and Master; how could You forget me? |

| ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਮੇਰੋ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇ ਮੂਏ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਂਹੀਂ ॥੧॥ |
| jin ko bisarai maero raam piaaraa sae mooeae mar jaanheen ||1|| |
| Those who forget my Beloved Lord are dead and dying. ||1|| |

| ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਦਾਸ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਕੀਜੈ ॥੨॥੧੩॥੧੭॥ |
| kar gehi laehu dhaas apunae ko naanak apuno keejai ||2||13||17|| |
| Please give me Your Hand - I am Your slave, O Lord. Please make Nanak Your Own. ||2||13||17|| |

| ਸੇਈ ਭਗਤ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣੇ ॥ |
| saeee bhagath jo thudhh bhaanae || |
| They alone are devotees, who are pleasing to Your Will. |

| ਰਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਮਾਲ ॥ |
| ram raam raam maal || |
| They dwell on the Lord, Raam, Raam, chanting on their malas; |

| ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੈਨ ॥੨॥੭॥੨੯॥ |
| har dharas praem jan naanak kar kirapaa prabh dhain ||2||7||29|| |
| Servant Nanak loves the Blessed Vision of the Lord; in His Mercy, God has blessed him with it. ||2||7||29|| |

| ਅਮਰੁ ਅਨਾਥ ਸਰਬ ਸਿਰਿ ਮੋਰਾ ਕਾਲ ਬਿਕਾਲ ਭਰਮ ਭੈ ਖੰਜਨੁ ॥੩॥ |
| amar anaathh sarab sir moraa kaal bikaal bharam bhai khanjan ||3|| |
| My Eternal, Unmastered Lord is over the heads of all. He is the Destroyer of death and rebirth, doubt and fear. ||3|| |

| ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰਿ ਚਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ ਭੇਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| naam adhhaar chalaa gur kai bhai bhaeth ||1|| rehaao || |
| I take the Support of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. I walk on the path of mystery of the Guru's Fear. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਾਚੇ ॥੮॥੨॥੫॥ |
| naanak mukath nehee bin naavai saachae ||8||2||5|| |
| O Nanak, there is no liberation without the True Name. ||8||2||5|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੁਕੈ ਨਾ ਕੁਮਲਾਇ ॥੪॥ |
| har kai naae sadhaa hareeaavalee fir sukai naa kumalaae ||4|| |
| In the Lord's Name, it is forever rejuvenated; it shall never wither and dry up again. ||4|| |
|
| ਸਦ ਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥ |
| sadh hee naam vaekhehi hajoor || |
| They behold the Naam, the Name of the Lord, ever-present, near at hand. |
|
| ਕਮਲੁ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥ |
| kamal vigasai sach man gur kai sabadh nihaal || |
| The heart-lotus blossoms forth and the mind becomes true; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is ecstatic and exalted. |

| ਦੁਨੀਆ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਇ ਆਪੁ ਛਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| dhuneeaa dhhandhhai laae aap shhapaaeiaa || |
| He enjoined all the world to its tasks, while He keeps Himself hidden from view. |
|
| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਗੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਮਾਰ ॥ |
| manamukh agai laekhaa mangeeai bahuthee hovai maar || |
| The self-willed manmukh will be called to account hereafter; he will be severely punished. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak guramukh nadharee aaeiaa har aatham raam muraar ||2|| |
| O Nanak, the Gurmukh comes to behold the Lord, the Supreme Soul. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ |
| sabh mehi eaek varathadhaa sir sir karae beechaar || |
| He alone is pervading and permeating all; He considers each and every one. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੈ ਘਾਲ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak naam rathae sehajae milae sabadh guroo kai ghaal ||1|| |
| O Nanak, those who are imbued with the Naam intuitively merge with the Lord; they practice the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1|| |
|
| ਇਕਿ ਜਟਾ ਬਿਕਟ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ਕੁਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਖੋਵਹੀ ॥ |
| eik jattaa bikatt bikaraal kul ghar khovehee || |
| Some look hideous, with their uncut hair matted and dishevelled. They bring dishonor to their family and ancestry. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਇੰਦੁ ਵਰਸਦਾ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਂਉ ॥ |
| jis kai hukam eindh varasadhaa this kai sadh balihaarai jaano || |
| I am forever a sacrifice to the One, by whose Command the clouds burst forth with rain. |
|
| ਦੇਹਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਸਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧੯॥ |
| dhaehi dhaan santhokheeaa sachaa naam milai aadhhaar ||19|| |
| Please bless me with the gift of contentment, that I may receive the True Name as my Support. ||19|| |
|
| ਬਧੇ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ॥ |
| badhhae shhuttehi sach sach pashhaaneeai || |
| They are released from bondage, realizing the True Lord as True. |
|
| ਹੁਕਮੀ ਸਾਹ ਗਿਰਾਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥੨੩॥ |
| hukamee saah giraah dhaenadhaa jaaneeai ||23|| |
| Know that the Lord, by the Hukam of His Command, gives sustenance and the breath of life. ||23|| |
|
| ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੀ ਰਕਤੁ ਨਿਪੰਨੇ ਮਛੀ ਮਾਸੁ ਨ ਖਾਂਹੀ ॥ |
| maath pithaa kee rakath nipannae mashhee maas n khaanhee || |
| They are produced from the blood of their mothers and fathers, but they do not eat fish or meat. |
|
| ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਨਿਖੁਟਸੀ ॥੨੬॥ |
| karathaa karae s hog koorr nikhuttasee ||26|| |
| Whatever the Creator does, comes to pass; falsehood shall fail in the end. ||26|| |

| ਜਿਤੁ ਤੂ ਲਾਇਹਿ ਸਚਿਆ ਤਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਗੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੨੮॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ |
| jith thoo laaeihi sachiaa thith ko lagai naanak gun gaaee ||28||1|| sudhh || |
| To whatever You link the mortal, O True Lord, to that he is linked. Nanak sings Your Glorious Praises. ||28||1|| Sudh|| |

| ਫੇਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਨਾਮੇ ਕਉ ਪੰਡੀਅਨ ਕਉ ਪਿਛਵਾਰਲਾ ॥੩॥੨॥ |
| faer dheeaa dhaehuraa naamae ko panddeean ko pishhavaaralaa ||3||2|| |
| The Lord turned the temple around to face Naam Dayv; He turned His back on the Brahmins. ||3||2|| |
|
| ਜੋਈ ਜੋਈ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੋਈ ਸੋਈ ਦੇਖਿਓ ॥੩॥੧॥੩॥ |
| joee joee keeno soee soee dhaekhiou ||3||1||3|| |
| whatever the mortal has done, he shall see. ||3||1||3|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਜਗਿ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪਾਥਰ ਸੇਨ ॥ |
| har kae jan ootham jag keheeahi jin miliaa paathhar saen || |
| The humble servants of the Lord are said to be exalted in this world; meeting with them, even stones are softened. |

| ਪਰਚੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੨॥ |
| parachai raam raviaa ghatt anthar asathhir raam raviaa rang preeth ||2|| |
| Deep within the heart, I am happy with the Pervading Lord; with love and joy, I dwell upon the Steady and Stable Lord. ||2|| |

| ਤੁਮਰੇ ਜਨ ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪਹਿ ਤੇ ਊਤਮ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੁਮੇ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੁਮਿ ਜੀਸ ॥੧॥ |
| thumarae jan raam japehi thae ootham thin ko ho ghum ghumae ghum ghum jees ||1|| |
| Your humble servants chant and meditate on You, O Lord; they are sublime and exalted. I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice to them. ||1|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਹੋ ਹੋ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| This precious human body becomes fruitful, |

| ਅਭੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਓ ਸਿਰੁ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਚਰਨਾ ॥੨॥੯॥ |
| abhai dhaan naam har paaeiou sir ddaariou naanak santh charanaa ||2||9|| |
| Through the Name of the Lord, I obtain the gift of fearlessness; Nanak places his head on the feet of the Saints. ||2||9|| |

| ਸਿਮਰਤ ਇਕ ਬਾਰ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਕਸਮਲ ਜਾਂਤਿ ॥੨॥ |
| simarath eik baar har har mitt kott kasamal jaanth ||2|| |
| Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, Har, Har, even once, millions of sins are erased. ||2|| |
|
| ਲਾਖ ਲਾਖ ਲਾਖ ਕਈ ਕੋਰੈ ਕੋ ਹੈ ਐਸੋ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ |
| laakh laakh laakh kee korai ko hai aiso beechaarai ||1|| |
| There are thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, many millions of them, but those who contemplate them are very rare. ||1|| |
|
| ਅਟਕਿਓ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਸੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਬਿਸੇਰੋ ॥ |
| attakiou suth banithaa sang maaeiaa dhaevanehaar dhaathaar bisaero || |
| People are caught in Maya, attached to their children and spouses. They have forgotten the Great and Generous Giver. |

| ਬਿਖੈ ਰਸ ਸਿਉ ਆਸਕਤ ਮੂੜੇ ਕਾਹੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਨਿ ॥੧॥ |
| bikhai ras sio aasakath moorrae kaahae sukh maan ||1|| |
| What do you expect from corrupt pleasures? You fool! What makes you think that they will bring peace? ||1|| |

| ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜਗਤ ਗੁਰ ਕੇਰੈ ॥੨॥੧॥੩੪॥ |
| mil naanak dhaev jagath gur kaerai ||2||1||34|| |
| Please come and meet Nanak, O Divine Guru of the World. ||2||1||34|| |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਹਨ ਮਲਨ ਦਹਨ ਲਹਨ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਆਨ ਨਹੀ ਉਪਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| prabh kehan malan dhehan lehan gur milae aan nehee oupaao ||1|| rehaao || |
| Speaking of God, filth and pollution are burnt away; This comes by meeting with the Guru, and not by any other efforts. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਮੋਹ ਭੈ ਭਰਮਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ॥੨॥੫॥੪੪॥ |
| binas jaae moh bhai bharamaa naanak santh prathaap ||2||5||44|| |
| Emotional attachment, fear and doubt are dispelled, O Nanak, by the Grace of the Saints. ||2||5||44|| |
