| ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| sae jan sachae jo gur sabadh milaaeae || |
| True are those who merge into the Word of the Guru's Shabad; |

| ਧਾਵਤ ਵਰਜੇ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥ |
| dhhaavath varajae thaak rehaaeae || |
| they restrain their wandering mind and keep it steady. |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| naam nav nidhh gur thae paaeae || |
| The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the nine treasures. It is obtained from the Guru. |

| ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥੩॥ |
| har kirapaa thae har vasai man aaeae ||3|| |
| By the Lord's Grace, the Lord comes to dwell in the mind. ||3|| |

| ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਰੀਰ ॥ |
| raam raam karathiaa sukh saanth sareer || |
| Chanting the Name of the Lord, Raam, Raam, the body becomes peaceful and tranquil. |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਮ ਪੀਰ ॥ |
| anthar vasai n laagai jam peer || |
| He dwells deep within - the pain of death does not touch Him. |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਜੀਰ ॥ |
| aapae saahib aap vajeer || |
| He Himself is our Lord and Master; He is His Own Advisor. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰ ॥੪॥੬॥੨੬॥ |

| O Nanak, serve the Lord forever; He is the treasure of glorious virtue. ||4||6||26|| |

| Why forget Him, unto whom the soul and the breath of life belong? |
|
| ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥ |
| so kio visarai sabh maahi samaanaa || |
| Why forget Him, who is all-pervading? |
|
| ਜਿਤੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ |
| jith saeviai dharageh path paravaanaa ||1|| |
| Serving Him, one is honored and accepted in the Court of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥ |
| har kae naam vittahu bal jaao || |
| I am a sacrifice to the Name of the Lord. |

| ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਤਦਿ ਹੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| thoon visarehi thadh hee mar jaao ||1|| rehaao || |
| If I were to forget You, at that very instant, I would die. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਤਿਨ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਜਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਏ ॥ |
| thin thoon visarehi j dhoojai bhaaeae || |
| Thse who are in love with duality forget You. |

| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੨॥ |
| manamukh agiaanee jonee paaeae ||2|| |
| The ignorant, self-willed manmukhs are consigned to reincarnation. ||2|| |
|
| ਜਿਨ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਤੁਠਾ ਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥ਜਿਨ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਤੁਠਾ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| jin eik man thuthaa sae sathigur saevaa laaeae || jin eik man thuthaa thin har mann vasaaeae || |
| Those who are pleasing to the One Lord are assigned to His service and enshrine Him within their minds. |

| ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੩॥ |
| guramathee har naam samaaeae ||3|| |
| Through the Guru's Teachings, they are absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||3|| |

| ਜਿਨਾ ਪੋਤੈ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਸੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ |
| jinaa pothai punn sae giaan beechaaree || |
| Those who have virtue as their treasure, contemplate spiritual wisdom. |
|
| ਜਿਨਾ ਪੋਤੈ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਤਿਨ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥ |
| jinaa pothai punn thin houmai maaree || |
| Those who have virtue as their treasure, subdue egotism. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੭॥ |
| naanak jo naam rathae thin ko balihaaree ||4||7||27|| |
| Nanak is a sacrifice to those who are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||7||27|| |

| Those who subdue their minds, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, are absorbed in You. |

| ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਅਨੇਕ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ |
| thaerae gun anaek keemath neh paahi ||1|| |
| Your Glorious Virtues are countless; their value cannot be estimated. ||1|| |

| ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ |

| The Word of His Bani belongs to Him; in Him, it is diffused. |

| Your Speech cannot be spoken; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is chanted. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਹ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਣਾਈ ॥ |
| jeh sathigur theh sathasangath banaaee || |
| Where the True Guru is - there is the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. |
|
| ਜਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥ |
| jeh sathigur sehajae har gun gaaee || |
| Where the True Guru is - there, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are intuitively sung. |

| ਜਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤਹਾ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| jeh sathigur thehaa houmai sabadh jalaaee ||2|| |
| Where the True Guru is - there egotism is burnt away, through the Word of the Shabad. ||2|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਹਲੀ ਥਾਉ ਪਾਏ ॥ |

| The Gurmukhs serve Him; they obtain a place in the Mansion of His Presence. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| guramukh anthar har naam vasaaeae || |
| The Gurmukhs enshrine the Naam within the mind. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੩॥ |
| guramukh bhagath har naam samaaeae ||3|| |
| The Gurmukhs worship the Lord, and are absorbed in the Naam. ||3|| |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥ |
| aapae dhaath karae dhaathaar || |
| The Giver Himself gives His Gifts, |
|
| ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਿਉ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ |
| poorae sathigur sio lagai piaar || |
| as we enshrine love for the True Guru. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੮॥੨੮॥ |

| Nanak celebrates those who are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||8||28|| |

| All forms and colors come from the One Lord. |

| ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਸਭਿ ਸਹਲੰਗਾ ॥ |
| poun paanee baisanthar sabh sehalangaa || |
| Air, water and fire are all kept together. |
|
| ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਵੇਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥ |
| bhinn bhinn vaekhai har prabh rangaa ||1|| |
| The Lord God beholds the many and various colors. ||1|| |
|
| ਏਕੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਏਕੋ ਹੈ ਸੋਈ ॥ |
| eaek acharaj eaeko hai soee || |
| The One Lord is wondrous and amazing! He is the One, the One and Only. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| How rare is that Gurmukh who meditates on the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਹਜਿ ਭਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥ |
| sehaj bhavai prabh sabhanee thhaaee || |
| God is naturally pervading all places. |
|
| ਕਹਾ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥ |
| kehaa gupath pragatt prabh banath banaaee || |
| Sometimes He is hidden, and sometimes He is revealed; thus God has made the world of His making. |

| ਆਪੇ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਜਗਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| aapae suthiaa dhaee jagaaee ||2|| |
| He Himself wakes us from sleep. ||2|| |
|
| ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| this kee keemath kinai n hoee || |
| No one can estimate His value, |
|
| ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਕਥਨੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥ |
| kehi kehi kathhan kehai sabh koee || |
| although everyone has tried, over and over again, to describe Him. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥ |
| gur sabadh samaavai boojhai har soee ||3|| |
| Those who merge in the Word of the Guru's Shabad, come to understand the Lord. ||3|| |
|
| ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| sun sun vaekhai sabadh milaaeae || |
| They listen to the Shabad continually; beholding Him, they merge into Him. |
|
| ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| vaddee vaddiaaee gur saevaa thae paaeae || |
| They obtain glorious greatness by serving the Guru. |
