| thaerae dhaas ko thuhee vaddiaaee || |
| You are the glorious greatness of Your slave. |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਮਗਨੁ ਨਰਕਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| maaeiaa magan narak lai jaaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| The intoxication of Maya leads the others to hell. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਰੋਗ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਚਿਤਾਰੇ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| rog girasath chithaarae naao || |
| Gripped by disease, they invoke the Name. |

| ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਤੇ ਕਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥੨॥ |
| bikh maathae kaa thour n thaao ||2|| |
| But those who are intoxicated with vice shall find no home, no place of rest. ||2|| |
|
| ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥ |
| charan kamal sio laagee preeth || |
| within whose hearts the Lord God abides. ||3|| |
|
| ਆਨ ਸੁਖਾ ਨਹੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੩॥ |
| aan sukhaa nehee aavehi cheeth ||3|| |
| does not think of any other comforts. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa simaro prabh suaamee || |
| Forever and ever, meditate on God, your Lord and Master. |

| ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੮੨॥੧੫੧॥ |

| Twenty-four hours a day, the highway robbers are my companions. |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲਏ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ |

| Granting His Grace, God has driven them away. ||1|| |

| ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਰਮਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ |

| Everyone should dwell on the Sweet Name of such a Lord. |

| The world-ocean is burning hot! |

| prabh khin mehi paar outhaaranehaar ||2|| |
| In an instant, God saves us, and carries us across. ||2|| |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋਰੇ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ |
| anik bandhhan thorae nehee jaahi || |
| There are so many bonds, they cannot be broken. |
|
| ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਫਲ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੩॥ |
| simarath naam mukath fal paahi ||3|| |
| Remembering the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the fruit of liberation is obtained. ||3|| |

| ਉਕਤਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਇਸ ਤੇ ਕਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ |

| By clever devices, nothing is accomplished. |

| For their own advantage, they make God their friend. |

| bichar sansaar pooran sabh kaam ||1|| |
| move freely in the world; all their affairs are resolved. ||1|| |
|
| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ ॥ |
| vaddabhaagee har keerathan gaaeeai || |
| Everyone should make Him such a friend. |
|
| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| For their own purposes, they enshrine the Lord in the heart; |

| ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਚੜਿ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ |
| bhav saagar charr outharehi paar ||2|| |
| Get aboard this boat, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| saadhhoo sang karahu sabh koe || |
| Everyone who joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥ |
| sadhaa kaliaan fir dhookh n hoe ||3|| |
| obtains eternal peace; pain does not afflict them any longer. ||3|| |
|
| ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥ |
| praem bhagath bhaj gunee nidhhaan || |
| With loving devotional worship, meditate on the treasure of excellence. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੮੪॥੧੫੩॥ |

| The Lord, our Friend, is totally pervading the water, the land and the skies. |

| ਭ੍ਰਮ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਗਾਏ ਗੁਣ ਨੀਤ ॥੧॥ |
| bhram binasae gaaeae gun neeth ||1|| |
| for those who listen to the Sermon of the Lord, Har, Har, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1|| |

| ਊਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਹਰੂਆ ॥ |
| oothath sovath har sang peharooaa || |
| While rising up, and while lying down in sleep, the Lord is always with you, watching over you. |

| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਣਿ ਜਮ ਨਹੀ ਡਰੂਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jaa kai simaran jam nehee ddarooaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| Remembering Him in meditation, the fear of Death departs. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਗਲ ਦੂਖ ਕਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਨਾਸੁ ॥੨॥ |
| sagal dhookh kaa hoeiaa naas ||2|| |
| all suffering comes to an end. ||2|| |

| ਆਸਾ ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਧਨੁ ਏਕ ॥ |
| aasaa maan thaan dhhan eaek || |
| The One Lord is my hope, honor, power and wealth. |
|
| ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਟੇਕ ॥੩॥ |
| saachae saah kee man mehi ttaek ||3|| |
| Within my mind is the Support of the True Banker. ||3|| |
|
| ਮਹਾ ਗਰੀਬ ਜਨ ਸਾਧ ਅਨਾਥ ॥ |
| mehaa gareeb jan saadhh anaathh || |
| I am the poorest and most helpless servant of the Holy. |
|

| ਕੋਟਿ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਪੁੰਨ ਫਲ ਮੂਚੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| Its reward surpasses the giving of charity at millions of solar eclipses. ||1||Pause|| |

| Remembering the Lord, I cross over the terrifying world-ocean. |

| the sinful mistakes of countless incarnations are removed. ||1|| |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| saadhhasang keerathan fal paaeiaa || |
| I have obtained the reward of the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. |

| ਜਮ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥ |
| jam kaa maarag dhrisatt n aaeiaa ||2|| |
| I no longer have to gaze upon the way of death. ||2|| |
|
| ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| man bach kram govindh adhhaar || |
| In thought, word and deed, seek the Support of the Lord of the Universe; |
|
| ਤਾ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਿਓ ਬਿਖੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੩॥ |
| thaa thae shhuttiou bikh sansaar ||3|| |
| thus you shall be saved from the poisonous world-ocean. ||3|| |
