| ਊਹਾ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਓਹੁ ਲੋਗਨ ਹੀ ਪਤੀਆਵੈ ॥੨॥ |
| oohaa kaam n aavai eih bidhh ouhu logan hee patheeaavai ||2|| |
| There, these are of no use at all. By these things, they only please other people. ||2|| |

| ਚਤੁਰ ਬੇਦ ਮੁਖ ਬਚਨੀ ਉਚਰੈ ਆਗੈ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ |
| chathur baedh mukh bachanee oucharai aagai mehal n paaeeai || |
| Reciting the four Vedas from memory, they do not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence hereafter. |

| ਬੂਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਏਕੁ ਸੁਧਾਖਰੁ ਓਹੁ ਸਗਲੀ ਝਾਖ ਝਖਾਈਐ ॥੩॥ |
| boojhai naahee eaek sudhhaakhar ouhu sagalee jhaakh jhakhaaeeai ||3|| |
| Those who do not understand the One Pure Word, utter total nonsense. ||3|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹਤੋ ਇਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ਜਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੁ ਪਾਰ ਗਰਾਮੀ ॥ |
| naanak kehatho eihu beechaaraa j kamaavai s paar garaamee || |
| Nanak voices this opinion: those who practice it, swim across. |

| ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਅਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਤਿਆਗਹੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਗੁਮਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੬੪॥ |
| gur saevahu ar naam dhhiaavahu thiaagahu manahu gumaanee ||4||6||164|| |
| Serve the Guru, and meditate on the Naam; renounce the egotistical pride from your mind. ||4||6||164|| |

| ਹਮ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਰਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ham thae kashhoo n hovai suaamee jio raakhahu thio reheeai ||1|| rehaao || |
| I cannot do anything by myself, O Lord and Master. As You keep me, so I remain. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਕਿਆ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਕਿ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ਕਿਆ ਇਸੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਬਿਚਾਰੇ ॥ |
| kiaa kishh karai k karanaihaaraa kiaa eis haathh bichaarae || |
| What can the mere mortal do? What is in the hands of this poor creature? |

| ਜਿਤੁ ਤੁਮ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਖਸਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ |
| jith thum laavahu thith hee laagaa pooran khasam hamaarae ||1|| |
| As You attach us, so we are attached, O my Perfect Lord and Master. ||1|| |

| ਕਰਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਰਬ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਏਕ ਰੂਪ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵਹੁ ॥ |
| karahu kirapaa sarab kae dhaathae eaek roop liv laavahu || |
| Take pity on me, O Great Giver of all, that I may enshrine love for Your Form alone. |

| You have engaged millions of people in Your Service. |

| ਭਗਤ ਵਛਲੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਦੁ ਰਖਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| bhagath vashhal thaeraa biradh rakhaaeiaa jeeo || |
| You are the Lover of Your devotees; this is Your Nature. |

| ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਨੀ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ |

| You are totally pervading all places. ||1|| |

| ਕਿਉ ਪੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਕਵਣ ਸੁਕਰਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| kio paekhaa preetham kavan sukaranee jeeo || |
| How can I behold my Beloved? What is that way of life? |
|
| ਸੰਤਾ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਰਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| santhaa dhaasee saevaa charanee jeeo || |
| Become the slave of the Saints, and serve at their feet. |
|
| ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਵਤਾਈ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| eihu jeeo vathaaee bal bal jaaee jeeo || |
| I dedicate this soul; I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to them. |

| ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ |
| this niv niv laago paaee jeeo ||2|| |
| Bowing low, I fall at the Feet of the Lord. ||2|| |
|
| ਪੋਥੀ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਬੇਦ ਖੋਜੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| pothhee panddith baedh khojanthaa jeeo || |
| The Pandits, the religious scholars, study the books of the Vedas. |
|
| ਹੋਇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| hoe bairaagee theerathh naavanthaa jeeo || |
| Some become renunciates, and bathe at sacred shrines of pilgrimage. |
|
| ਗੀਤ ਨਾਦ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਵੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| geeth naadh keerathan gaavanthaa jeeo || |
| Some sing tunes and melodies and songs. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ |
| har nirabho naam dhhiaaee jeeo ||3|| |
| But I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Fearless Lord. ||3|| |
|
| ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| bheae kirapaal suaamee maerae jeeo || |
| My Lord and Master has become merciful to me. |
|
| ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਕਾਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| bhram bho kaatt keeeae niravairae jeeo || |
| Dispelling my doubts and fears, the Guru has rid me of hatred. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥ |
| gur man kee aas pooraaee jeeo ||4|| |
| The Guru has fulfilled the desires of my mind. ||4|| |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| jin naao paaeiaa so dhhanavanthaa jeeo || |
| One who has obtained the Name is wealthy. |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸੁ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| jin prabh dhhiaaeiaa s sobhaavanthaa jeeo || |
| One who meditates on God is glorified. |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭ ਸੁਕਰਣੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| jis saadhhoo sangath this sabh sukaranee jeeo || |
| Sublime are all the actions of those who join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥੧॥੧੬੬॥ |

| rain dhinas saas saas chithaarae jeeo || |
| Night and day, with each and every breath, I think of You. |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਦੇਉ ਸੰਦੇਸਾ ਪੈ ਚਰਣਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| santh dhaeo sandhaesaa pai charanaarae jeeo || |
| O Saints, give Him this message; I fall at Your Feet. |

| ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਰੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ |
| thudhh bin kith bidhh thareeai jeeo ||1|| |
| Without You, how can I be saved? ||1|| |
|
| ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੈ ਮੈ ਕਰੇ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| sang thumaarai mai karae anandhaa jeeo || |
| In Your Company, I am in ecstasy. |

| ਵਣਿ ਤਿਣਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| van thin thribhavan sukh paramaanandhaa jeeo || |
| In the forest, the fields and the three worlds, there is peace and supreme bliss. |

| ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੰਦਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| saej suhaavee eihu man bigasandhaa jeeo || |
| My bed is beautiful, and my mind blossoms forth in ecstasy. |

| ਪੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਇਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਲਹੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ |
| paekh dharasan eihu sukh leheeai jeeo ||2|| |
| Beholding the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan, I have found this peace. ||2|| |

| ਚਰਣ ਪਖਾਰਿ ਕਰੀ ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| charan pakhaar karee nith saevaa jeeo || |
| I wash Your Feet, and constantly serve You. |
|
| ਪੂਜਾ ਅਰਚਾ ਬੰਦਨ ਦੇਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| poojaa arachaa bandhan dhaevaa jeeo || |
| O Divine Lord, I worship and adore You; I bow down before You. |
|
| ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਲੇਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| dhaasan dhaas naam jap laevaa jeeo || |
| I am the slave of Your slaves; I chant Your Name. |

| ਬਿਨਉ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ |
| bino thaakur pehi keheeai jeeo ||3|| |
| I offer this prayer to my Lord and Master. ||3|| |

| ਇਛ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥ |

| My desires are fulfilled, and my mind and body are rejuvenated. |

| ਦਰਸਨ ਪੇਖਤ ਸਭ ਦੁਖ ਪਰਹਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| dharasan paekhath sabh dhukh parehariaa jeeo || |
| Beholding the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, all my pains have been taken away. |

| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਜਪਿ ਤਰਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| har har naam japae jap thariaa jeeo || |
| Chanting and meditating on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have been saved. |

| ਇਹੁ ਅਜਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਹੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੬੭॥ |
| eihu ajar naanak sukh seheeai jeeo ||4||2||167|| |
| Nanak endures this unendurable celestial bliss. ||4||2||167|| |
