| Listen, listen, O my friend and companion, O Beloved of my mind: |
|
| ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਭਿ ਵਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| man than thaeraa eihu jeeo bh vaarae jeeo || |
| my mind and body are Yours. This life is a sacrifice to You as well. |

| ਵਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਅਧਾਰੇ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| visar naahee prabh praan adhhaarae jeeo || |
| May I never forget God, the Support of the breath of life. |

| ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ |
| sadhaa thaeree saranaaee jeeo ||1|| |
| I have come to Your Eternal Sanctuary. ||1|| |

| ਜਿਸੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਭਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| jis miliai man jeevai bhaaee jeeo || |
| Meeting Him, my mind is revived, O Siblings of Destiny. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee so har har paaee jeeo || |
| By Guru's Grace, I have found the Lord, Har, Har. |
|
| ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀਆ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| sabh kishh prabh kaa prabh keeaa jaaee jeeo || |
| All things belong to God; all places belong to God. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥ |
| prabh ko sadh bal jaaee jeeou ||2|| |
| I am forever a sacrifice to God. ||2|| |
|
| ਏਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਪੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| eaehu nidhhaan japai vaddabhaagee jeeo || |
| Very fortunate are those who meditate on this treasure. |
|
| ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| naam niranjan eaek liv laagee jeeo || |
| They enshrine love for the Naam, the Name of the One Immaculate Lord. |
|
| ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| gur pooraa paaeiaa sabh dhukh mittaaeiaa jeeo || |
| Finding the Perfect Guru, all suffering is dispelled. |

| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥ |
| aath pehar gun gaaeiaa jeeo ||3|| |
| Twenty-four hours a day, I sing the Glories of God. ||3|| |

| ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |

| Your Name is the treasure of jewels, Lord. |
|
| ਤੂੰ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| thoon sachaa saahu bhagath vanajaaraa jeeo || |
| You are the True Banker; Your devotee is the trader. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥ |
| har dhhan raas sach vaapaaraa jeeo || |
| True is the trade of those who have the wealth of the Lord's assets. |
|
| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੬੮॥ |
| jan naanak sadh balihaaraa jeeo ||4||3||168|| |

| I am so proud of You, O Creator; I am so proud of You. |

| ਜੋਰਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੈ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jor thumaarai sukh vasaa sach sabadh neesaan ||1|| rehaao || |
| Through Your Almighty Power, I dwell in peace. The True Word of the Shabad is my banner and insignia. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਭੇ ਗਲਾ ਜਾਤੀਆ ਸੁਣਿ ਕੈ ਚੁਪ ਕੀਆ ॥ |
| sabhae galaa jaatheeaa sun kai chup keeaa || |
| He hears and knows everything, but he keeps silent. |
|
| ਕਦ ਹੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਲਧੀਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੜਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| kadh hee surath n ladhheeaa maaeiaa moharriaa ||1|| |
| Bewitched by Maya, he never regains awareness. ||1|| |

| ਕੋਈ ਜਿ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਲੋਭੀਆ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਸੁਣੀ ਕਹਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
| koee j moorakh lobheeaa mool n sunee kehiaa ||2|| |
| But he is foolish and greedy, and he never listens to what he is told. ||2|| |

| ਇਕਸੁ ਦੁਹੁ ਚਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਗਣੀ ਸਭ ਇਕਤੁ ਸਾਦਿ ਮੁਠੀ ॥ |
| eikas dhuhu chahu kiaa ganee sabh eikath saadh muthee || |
| Why bother to count one, two, three, four? The whole world is defrauded by the same enticements. |

| ਇਕੁ ਅਧੁ ਨਾਇ ਰਸੀਅੜਾ ਕਾ ਵਿਰਲੀ ਜਾਇ ਵੁਠੀ ॥੩॥ |
| eik adhh naae raseearraa kaa viralee jaae vuthee ||3|| |
| Hardly anyone loves the Lord's Name; how rare is that place which is in bloom. ||3|| |
|
| ਭਗਤ ਸਚੇ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਹਦੇ ਅਨਦ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ |
| bhagath sachae dhar sohadhae anadh karehi dhin raath || |
| The devotees look beautiful in the True Court; night and day, they are happy. |
|
| ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਤ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੬੯॥ |
| rang rathae paramaesarai jan naanak thin bal jaath ||4||1||169|| |
| They are imbued with the Love of the Transcendent Lord; servant Nanak is a sacrifice to them. ||4||1||169|| |

| dhukh bhanjan thaeraa naam jee dhukh bhanjan thaeraa naam || |
| The Destroyer of sorrow is Your Name, Lord; the Destroyer of sorrow is Your Name. |

| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| aath pehar aaraadhheeai pooran sathigur giaan ||1|| rehaao || |
| Twenty-four hours a day, dwell upon the wisdom of the Perfect True Guru. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਜਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਥਾਉ ॥ |
| jith ghatt vasai paarabreham soee suhaavaa thhaao || |
| That heart, in which the Supreme Lord God abides, is the most beautiful place. |
|
| ਜਮ ਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| jam kankar naerr n aavee rasanaa har gun gaao ||1|| |
| The Messenger of Death does not even approach those who chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord with the tongue. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਆ ਨਾ ਜਾਪੈ ਆਰਾਧਿ ॥ |
| saevaa surath n jaaneeaa naa jaapai aaraadhh || |
| I have not understood the wisdom of serving Him, nor have I worshipped Him in meditation. |
|
| ਓਟ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਗਜੀਵਨਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ॥੨॥ |
| outt thaeree jagajeevanaa maerae thaakur agam agaadhh ||2|| |
| You are my Support, O Life of the World; O my Lord and Master, Inaccessible and Incomprehensible. ||2|| |

| ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈਆ ਨਠੇ ਸੋਗ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥ |
| bheae kirapaal gusaaeeaa nathae sog santhaap || |
| When the Lord of the Universe became merciful, sorrow and suffering departed. |
|
| ਤਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਖੇ ਆਪਿ ॥੩॥ |
| thathee vaao n lagee sathigur rakhae aap ||3|| |
| The hot winds do not even touch those who are protected by the True Guru. ||3|| |
|
| ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਦਯੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥ |
| gur naaraaein dhay gur gur sachaa sirajanehaar || |
| The Guru is the All-pervading Lord, the Guru is the Merciful Master; the Guru is the True Creator Lord. |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੭੦॥ |
| gur thuthai sabh kishh paaeiaa jan naanak sadh balihaar ||4||2||170|| |
| When the Guru was totally satisfied, I obtained everything. Servant Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||4||2||170|| |

| meditating on Him, all affairs are resolved. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਰਾਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਪੇਦਿਆ ਹੋਆ ਮੁਖੁ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ॥ |
| raam gobindh japaedhiaa hoaa mukh pavithra || |
| Chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, one's mouth is sanctified. |

| ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਸੋਈ ਭਾਈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ॥੧॥ |
| har jas suneeai jis thae soee bhaaee mithra ||1|| |
| One who recites to me the Praises of the Lord is my friend and brother. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਭਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਭਿ ਫਲਾ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| sabh padhaarathh sabh falaa sarab gunaa jis maahi || |
| All treasures, all rewards and all virtues are in the Lord of the Universe. |

| ਕਿਉ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੁਖ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੨॥ |
| kio gobindh manahu visaareeai jis simarath dhukh jaahi ||2|| |
| Why forget Him from your mind? Remembering Him in meditation, pain departs. ||2|| |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਲੜਿ ਲਗਿਐ ਜੀਵੀਐ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਈਐ ਪਾਰਿ ॥ |
| jis larr lagiai jeeveeai bhavajal peeai paar || |
| Grasping the hem of His robe, we live, and cross over the terrifying world-ocean. |

| ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੩॥ |
| mil saadhhoo sang oudhhaar hoe mukh oojal dharabaar ||3|| |
| Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, one is saved, and one's face becomes radiant in the Court of the Lord. ||3|| |

| ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਜਸੁ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
| jeevan roop gopaal jas santh janaa kee raas || |
| The Praise of the Sustainer of the Universe is the essence of life, and the wealth of His Saints. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਉਬਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੭੧॥ |
| naanak oubarae naam jap dhar sachai saabaas ||4||3||171|| |
| Nanak is saved, chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord; in the True Court, he is cheered and applauded. ||4||3||171|| |
