| har abinaasee thumarai sang || |
| The Imperishable Lord is always with you. |

| ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਚੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੪॥ |
| man maerae rach raam kai rang ||4|| |
| O my mind, immerse yourself in the Love of the Lord. ||4|| |

| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਉਤਰੈ ਸਭ ਭੂਖ ॥ |
| jaa kai kaam outharai sabh bhookh || |
| Working for Him, all hunger departs. |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਜੋਹਹਿ ਦੂਤ ॥ |
| jaa kai kaam n johehi dhooth || |
| Working for Him, the Messenger of Death will not be watching you. |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਡ ਗਮਰੁ ॥ |
| jaa kai kaam thaeraa vadd gamar || |
| Working for Him, you shall obtain glorious greatness. |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਅਮਰੁ ॥੫॥ |
| jaa kai kaam hovehi thoon amar ||5|| |
| Working for Him, you shall become immortal. ||5|| |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਕਉ ਨਹੀ ਡਾਨ ॥ |
| jaa kae chaakar ko nehee ddaan || |
| His servant does not suffer punishment. |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਕਉ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਨ ॥ |
| jaa kae chaakar ko nehee baan || |
| His servant suffers no loss. |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦਫਤਰਿ ਪੁਛੈ ਨ ਲੇਖਾ ॥ |
| jaa kai dhafathar pushhai n laekhaa || |
| In His Court, His servant does not have to answer for his account. |
|
| ਤਾ ਕੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਸੇਖਾ ॥੬॥ |
| thaa kee chaakaree karahu bisaekhaa ||6|| |
| So serve Him with distinction. ||6|| |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਊਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਬਾਤ ॥ |
| jaa kai oon naahee kaahoo baath || |
| He is not lacking in anything. |
|
| ਏਕਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਅਨੇਕਹਿ ਭਾਤਿ ॥ |
| eaekehi aap anaekehi bhaath || |
| He Himself is One, although He appears in so many forms. |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥ |
| jaa kee dhrisatt hoe sadhaa nihaal || |
| By His Glance of Grace, you shall be happy forever. |
|
| ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ॥੭॥ |
| man maerae kar thaa kee ghaal ||7|| |
| So work for Him, O my mind. ||7|| |
|
| ਨਾ ਕੋ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਮੂੜਾ ॥ |
| naa ko chathur naahee ko moorraa || |
| No one is clever, and no one is foolish. |
|
| ਜਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ |
| jith ko laaeiaa thith hee laagaa || |
| As the Lord attaches someone, so is he attached. |
|
| ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੮॥੬॥ |
| so saevak naanak jis bhaagaa ||8||6|| |
| He alone is the Lord's servant, O Nanak, who is so blessed. ||8||6|| |

| Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one's life is like that of a snake. |

| ਤਿਉ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| thio jeevehi saakath naam bisaaree ||1|| |
| This is how the faithless cynic lives, forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਏਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਜੋ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਜੀਆ ॥ |
| eaek nimakh jo simaran mehi jeeaa || |
| One who lives in meditative remembrance, even for an instant, |
|
| ਕੋਟਿ ਦਿਨਸ ਲਾਖ ਸਦਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਥੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kott dhinas laakh sadhaa thhir thheeaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| lives for hundreds of thousands and millions of days, and becomes stable forever. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਾਸ ॥ |
| bin simaran dhhrig karam karaas || |
| Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one's actions and works are cursed. |

| ਕਾਗ ਬਤਨ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਹਿ ਵਾਸ ॥੨॥ |
| kaag bathan bisattaa mehi vaas ||2|| |
| Like the crow's beak, he dwells in manure. ||2|| |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਭਏ ਕੂਕਰ ਕਾਮ ॥ |
| bin simaran bheae kookar kaam || |
| Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one acts like a dog. |
|
| ਸਾਕਤ ਬੇਸੁਆ ਪੂਤ ਨਿਨਾਮ ॥੩॥ |
| saakath baesuaa pooth ninaam ||3|| |
| The faithless cynic is nameless, like the prostitute's son. ||3|| |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਜੈਸੇ ਸੀਙ ਛਤਾਰਾ ॥ |
| bin simaran jaisae seen(g) shhathaaraa || |
| Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one is like a horned ram. |
|
| ਬੋਲਹਿ ਕੂਰੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੁਖੁ ਕਾਰਾ ॥੪॥ |
| bolehi koor saakath mukh kaaraa ||4|| |
| The faithless cynic barks out his lies, and his face is blackened. ||4|| |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਗਰਧਭ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ॥ |
| bin simaran garadhhabh kee niaaee || |
| Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one is like a donkey. |
|
| ਸਾਕਤ ਥਾਨ ਭਰਿਸਟ ਫਿਰਾਹੀ ॥੫॥ |
| saakath thhaan bharisatt firaahee ||5|| |
| The faithless cynic wanders around in polluted places. ||5|| |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੂਕਰ ਹਰਕਾਇਆ ॥ |
| bin simaran kookar harakaaeiaa || |
| Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, one is like a mad dog. |
|
| ਸਾਕਤ ਲੋਭੀ ਬੰਧੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥ |
| saakath lobhee bandhh n paaeiaa ||6|| |
| The greedy, faithless cynic falls into entanglements. ||6|| |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਹੈ ਆਤਮ ਘਾਤੀ ॥ |
| bin simaran hai aatham ghaathee || |
| Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, he murders his own soul. |
|
| ਸਾਕਤ ਨੀਚ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੁਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤੀ ॥੭॥ |
| saakath neech this kul nehee jaathee ||7|| |
| The faithless cynic is wretched, without family or social standing. ||7|| |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਭਇਆ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jis bhaeiaa kirapaal this sathasang milaaeiaa || |
| When the Lord becomes merciful, one joins the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੭॥ |

| By Guru's Grace, my speech is like nectar. ||2|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਪੁ ॥ |

| Through the Guru's Word, my selfishness and conceit have been removed. |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਡ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੩॥ |

| Through the Guru's kindness, I have obtained glorious greatness. ||3|| |
