| He Himself is subtle and etheric; He Himself is manifest and obvious. |

| He Himself is formless, and also formed; the One Lord is without attributes, and also with attributes. |

| ਭਿੰਨ ਭਿੰਨ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੰ ॥ |
| bhinn bhinn thrai gun bisathhaaran || |
| He created the diverse expanse of the three qualities. |

| ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਤੇ ਸਰਗੁਨ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਰੰ ॥ |
| niragun thae saragun dhrisattaaran || |
| From formless, He appeared as form. |
 |
| ਸਗਲ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਪਾਇਓ ॥ |
| sagal bhaath kar karehi oupaaeiou || |
| The Creator has created the creation of all sorts. |
 |
| ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਮਨ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਢਾਇਓ ॥ |
| janam maran man mohu badtaaeiou || |
| The attachment of the mind has led to birth and death. |
 |
| ਦੁਹੂ ਭਾਤਿ ਤੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥ |
| dhuhoo bhaath thae aap niraaraa || |
| He Himself is above both, untouched and unaffected. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ |

| Those who gather Truth and the riches of the Lord's Name are rich and very fortunate. |

| No one is separate from the True Primal Lord. |

| ਸੋਊ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੈ ਜਿਹ ਪਾਯੰ ॥ |
| sooo saran parai jih paayan || |
| They alone enter the Lord's Sanctuary, whom the Lord inspires to enter. |

| ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਸੁਨਾਯੰ ॥ |
| simar simar gun gaae sunaayan || |
| Meditating, meditating in remembrance, they sing and preach the Glorious Praises of the Lord. |

| ਸੰਸੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਆਪਤ ॥ |
| sansai bharam nehee kashh biaapath || |
| Doubt and skepticism do not affect them at all. |
 |
| ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁ ਤਾਹੂ ਕੋ ਜਾਪਤ ॥ |
| pragatt prathaap thaahoo ko jaapath || |
| They behold the manifest glory of the Lord. |
 |
| ਸੋ ਸਾਧੂ ਇਹ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰਾ ॥ |
| so saadhhoo eih pahuchanehaaraa || |
| They are the Holy Saints - they reach this destination. |
 |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak thaa kai sadh balihaaraa ||3|| |
| Nanak is forever a sacrifice to them. ||3|| |

| ਧਨਿ ਤੇਊ ਜਿਹ ਰੁਚ ਇਆ ਮਨੂਆ ॥ |
| dhhan thaeoo jih ruch eiaa manooaa || |
| Blessed are those whose minds are filled with this longing. |
 |
| ਧਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਛਹਿ ਸੁਰਗ ਨ ਆਛਹਿ ॥ |
| dhhan nehee baashhehi surag n aashhehi || |
| They do not seek wealth, and they do not desire paradise. |
 |
| ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਰਜ ਰਾਚਹਿ ॥ |
| ath pria preeth saadhh raj raachehi || |
| They are immersed in the deep love of their Beloved, and the dust of the feet of the Holy. |

| ਧੰਧੇ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਆਪਹਿ ਤਾਹੂ ॥ਜੋ ਏਕ ਛਾਡਿ ਅਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਹੂ ॥ |
| dhhandhhae kehaa biaapehi thaahoo || jo eaek shhaadd an kathehi n jaahoo || |
| How can worldly affairs affect those who do not abandon the One Lord, and who go nowhere else? |

| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹੀਐ ਦੀਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਮ ॥ |
| jaa kai heeai dheeou prabh naam || |
| One whose heart is filled with God's Name, |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੪॥ |

| O Nanak, is a perfect spiritual being of God. ||4|| |

| By all sorts of religious robes, knowledge, meditation and stubborn-mindedness, no one has ever met God. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਭਈ ਭਗਤੁ ਙਿਆਨੀ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ |
| kahu naanak kirapaa bhee bhagath n(g)iaanee soe ||1|| |
| Says Nanak, those upon whom God showers His Mercy, are devotees of spiritual wisdom. ||1|| |

| It is not obtained through the various debates of the Shaastras and scriptures. |

| ਙਿਆਨੀ ਸੋਇ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਸੋਊ ॥ |
| n(g)iaanee soe jaa kai dhrirr sooo || |
| They alone are spiritually wise, whose minds are firmly fixed on the Lord. |

| ਕਹਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਕਛੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਊ ॥ |

| Hearing and telling stories, no one attains Yoga. |
 |
| ਙਿਆਨੀ ਰਹਤ ਆਗਿਆ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥ |
| n(g)iaanee rehath aagiaa dhrirr jaa kai || |
| They alone are spiritually wise, who remain firmly committed to the Lord's Command. |
