| ਸਰਬ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਅਉਖਦੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥ |
| sarab rog kaa aoukhadh naam || |
| The Naam is the panacea, the remedy to cure all ills. |

| ਕਲਿਆਣ ਰੂਪ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਮ ॥ |
| kaliaan roop mangal gun gaam || |
| Singing the Glory of God is the embodiment of bliss and emancipation. |

| ਕਾਹੂ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਧਰਮਿ ॥ |
| kaahoo jugath kithai n paaeeai dhharam || |
| It cannot be obtained by any religious rituals. |
 |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ॥੫॥ |
| naanak this milai jis likhiaa dhhur karam ||5|| |
| O Nanak, he alone obtains it, whose karma is so pre-ordained. ||5|| |

| ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ॥ |
| this kaa naam sath raamadhaas || |
| - his name is truly Ram Das, the Lord's servant. |
 |
| ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥ |
| aatham raam this nadharee aaeiaa || |
| He comes to have the Vision of the Lord, the Supreme Soul. |
 |
| ਦਾਸ ਦਸੰਤਣ ਭਾਇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| dhaas dhasanthan bhaae thin paaeiaa || |
| Deeming himself to be the slave of the Lord's slaves, he obtains it. |
 |
| ਸਦਾ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥ |
| sadhaa nikatt nikatt har jaan || |
| He knows the Lord to be Ever-present, close at hand. |
 |
| ਸੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥ |
| so dhaas dharageh paravaan || |
| Such a servant is honored in the Court of the Lord. |
 |
| ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥ |
| apunae dhaas ko aap kirapaa karai || |
| To His servant, He Himself shows His Mercy. |
 |
| ਤਿਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਰੈ ॥ |
| this dhaas ko sabh sojhee parai || |
| Such a servant understands everything. |
 |
| ਸਗਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਆਤਮ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥ |
| sagal sang aatham oudhaas || |
| Amidst all, his soul is unattached. |
 |
| ਐਸੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ॥੬॥ |
| aisee jugath naanak raamadhaas ||6|| |
| Such is the way, O Nanak, of the Lord's servant. ||6|| |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਆਤਮ ਹਿਤਾਵੈ ॥ |
| prabh kee aagiaa aatham hithaavai || |
| One who, in his soul, loves the Will of God, |
 |
| ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਸੋਊ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥ |
| jeevan mukath sooo kehaavai || |
| is said to be Jivan Mukta - liberated while yet alive. |
 |
| ਤੈਸਾ ਹਰਖੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਉਸੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥ |
| thaisaa harakh thaisaa ous sog || |
| As is joy, so is sorrow to him. |
 |
| ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਤਹ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਓਗੁ ॥ |
| sadhaa anandh theh nehee bioug || |
| He is in eternal bliss, and is not separated from God. |
 |
| ਤੈਸਾ ਸੁਵਰਨੁ ਤੈਸੀ ਉਸੁ ਮਾਟੀ ॥ |
| thaisaa suvaran thaisee ous maattee || |
| As is gold, so is dust to him. |
 |
| ਤੈਸਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤੈਸੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਟੀ ॥ |
| thaisaa anmrith thaisee bikh khaattee || |
| As is ambrosial nectar, so is bitter poison to him. |
 |
| ਤੈਸਾ ਮਾਨੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| thaisaa maan thaisaa abhimaan || |
| As is honor, so is dishonor. |
 |
| ਤੈਸਾ ਰੰਕੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਰਾਜਾਨੁ ॥ |
| thaisaa rank thaisaa raajaan || |
| As is the beggar, so is the king. |
 |
| ਜੋ ਵਰਤਾਏ ਸਾਈ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥ |
| jo varathaaeae saaee jugath || |
| Whatever God ordains, that is his way. |
 |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ॥੭॥ |
| naanak ouhu purakh keheeai jeevan mukath ||7|| |
| O Nanak, that being is known as Jivan Mukta. ||7|| |

| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਠਾਉ ॥ |
| paarabreham kae sagalae thaao || |
| All places belong to the Supreme Lord God. |
 |
| ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤੈਸਾ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| jith jith ghar raakhai thaisaa thin naao || |
| According to the homes in which they are placed, so are His creatures named. |

| ਆਪੇ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ |
| aapae karan karaavan jog || |
| He Himself is the Doer, the Cause of causes. |
 |
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਗੁ ॥ |
| prabh bhaavai soee fun hog || |
| Whatever pleases God, ultimately comes to pass. |
 |
| ਪਸਰਿਓ ਆਪਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗ ॥ |
| pasariou aap hoe anath tharang || |
| He Himself is All-pervading, in endless waves. |
 |
| ਲਖੇ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ॥ |
| lakhae n jaahi paarabreham kae rang || |
| The playful sport of the Supreme Lord God cannot be known. |

| ਜੈਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ ਤੈਸਾ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥ |
| jaisee math dhaee thaisaa paragaas || |
| As the understanding is given, so is one enlightened. |

| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ ॥ |
| paarabreham karathaa abinaas || |
| The Supreme Lord God, the Creator, is eternal and everlasting. |

| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa sadhaa dhaeiaal || |
| Forever, forever and ever, He is merciful. |
 |
| ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੮॥੯॥ |

| Remembering Him, remembering Him in meditation, O Nanak, one is blessed with ecstasy. ||8||9|| |

| Many millions become dwellers at sacred shrines of pilgrimage. |

| Many millions wander as renunciates in the wilderness. |

| ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਬੇਦ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੋਤੇ ॥ |

| Many millions listen to the Vedas. |
 |
| ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਤਪੀਸੁਰ ਹੋਤੇ ॥ |

| Many millions become austere penitents. |

| ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਆਤਮ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਾਰਹਿ ॥ |

| Many millions enshrine meditation within their souls. |

| ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕਬਿ ਕਾਬਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਹਿ ॥ |

| Many millions of poets contemplate Him through poetry. |

| ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਨਵਤਨ ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ॥ |

| Many millions meditate on His eternally new Naam. |
