| Slandering the Saint, no one attains satisfaction. |

| As it pleases the Lord, so do people become; |

| ਪਇਆ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| paeiaa kirath n maettai koe || |
| no one can erase their past actions. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਨੈ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥ |

| All hearts are His; He is the Creator. |

| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥ |

| Forever and ever, I bow to Him in reverence. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ |
| prabh kee ousathath karahu dhin raath || |
| Praise God, day and night. |
|
| ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
| thisehi dhhiaavahu saas giraas || |
| Meditate on Him with every breath and morsel of food. |
|
| ਸਭੁ ਕਛੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ॥ |

| Everything happens as He wills. |
|
| ਜੈਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਤੈਸਾ ਕੋ ਥੀਆ ॥ |
| jaisaa karae thaisaa ko thheeaa || |
| As He wills, so people become. |
|
| ਅਪਨਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਨੈਹਾਰੁ ॥ |
| apanaa khael aap karanaihaar || |
| He Himself is the play, and He Himself is the actor. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ |
| jis no kirapaa karai this aapan naam dhaee || |
| He Himself gives His Name to those, upon whom He bestows His Mercy. |

| Give up your cleverness, good people - remember the Lord God, your King! |

| Reliance on mortals is in vain - know this well. |

| ਦੇਵਨ ਕਉ ਏਕੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥ |
| dhaevan ko eaekai bhagavaan || |
| The Great Giver is the One Lord God. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਦੀਐ ਰਹੈ ਅਘਾਇ ॥ |
| jis kai dheeai rehai aghaae || |
| By His gifts, we are satisfied, |
|
| ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥ |
| bahur n thrisanaa laagai aae || |
| and we suffer from thirst no longer. |
|
| ਮਾਰੈ ਰਾਖੈ ਏਕੋ ਆਪਿ ॥ |
| maarai raakhai eaeko aap || |
| The One Lord Himself destroys and also preserves. |
|
| ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਾਥਿ ॥ |
| maanukh kai kishh naahee haathh || |
| Nothing at all is in the hands of mortal beings. |
|
| ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| this kaa hukam boojh sukh hoe || |
| Understanding His Order, there is peace. |
|
| ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੁ ਕੰਠਿ ਪਰੋਇ ॥ |
| this kaa naam rakh kanth paroe || |
| So take His Name, and wear it as your necklace. |
|
| ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ |

| Remember, remember, remember God in meditation. |

| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਉ ॥ |

| Let your tongue become pure, drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar. |

| ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥ |

| Your soul shall be forever peaceful. |

| ਨੈਨਹੁ ਪੇਖੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ |

| With your eyes, see the wondrous play of your Lord and Master. |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਭ ਸੰਗੁ ॥ |

| In the Company of the Holy, all other associations vanish. |
|
| ਚਰਨ ਚਲਉ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥ |
| charan chalo maarag gobindh || |
| With your feet, walk in the Way of the Lord. |
|
| ਮਿਟਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਬਿੰਦ ॥ |
| mittehi paap japeeai har bindh || |
| Sins are washed away, chanting the Lord's Name, even for a moment. |
|
| ਕਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਮ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ॥ |
| kar har karam sravan har kathhaa || |
| So do the Lord's Work, and listen to the Lord's Sermon. |

| ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਊਜਲ ਮਥਾ ॥੨॥ |
| har dharageh naanak oojal mathhaa ||2|| |
| In the Lord's Court, O Nanak, your face shall be radiant. ||2|| |

| ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਜਗ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |

| Very fortunate are those humble beings in this world, |

| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਹਿ ॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa har kae gun gaahi || |
| who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, forever and ever. |
|
| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ |
| raam naam jo karehi beechaar || |
| Those who dwell upon the Lord's Name, |
|
| ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਗਨੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥ |
| sae dhhanavanth ganee sansaar || |
| are the most wealthy and prosperous in the world. |
|
| ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖੀ ॥ |
| man than mukh bolehi har mukhee || |
| Those who speak of the Supreme Lord in thought, word and deed |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੀ ॥ |
| sadhaa sadhaa jaanahu thae sukhee || |
| know that they are peaceful and happy, forever and ever. |
|
| ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥ |
| eaeko eaek eaek pashhaanai || |
| One who recognizes the One and only Lord as One, |
|
| ਇਤ ਉਤ ਕੀ ਓਹੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ |
| eith outh kee ouhu sojhee jaanai || |
| understands this world and the next. |
|
| ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥ |
| naam sang jis kaa man maaniaa || |
| One whose mind accepts the Company of the Naam, |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak thinehi niranjan jaaniaa ||3|| |
| the Name of the Lord, O Nanak, knows the Immaculate Lord. ||3|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਆਪਨ ਆਪੁ ਸੁਝੈ ॥ |

| By Guru's Grace, one understands himself; |

| ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ॥ |

| know that then, his thirst is quenched. |

| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਕਹਤ ॥ |

| In the Company of the Holy, one chants the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. |
