| ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jo prabh apanee saevaa laaeiaa || |
| One whom God applies to His own service, O Nanak |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥੪॥ |
| naanak so saevak dheh dhis pragattaaeiaa ||4|| |
| - that servant is famous in the ten directions. ||4|| |

| ਨੀਕੀ ਕੀਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਕਲ ਰਾਖੈ ॥ |
| neekee keeree mehi kal raakhai || |
| He infuses His Power into the tiny ant; |
 |
| ਭਸਮ ਕਰੈ ਲਸਕਰ ਕੋਟਿ ਲਾਖੈ ॥ |
| bhasam karai lasakar kott laakhai || |
| it can then reduce the armies of millions to ashes |
 |
| ਤਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਤ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਥ ॥ |
| thaa ko raakhath dhae kar haathh || |
| He preserves them, and holds out His Hands to protect them. |
 |
| ਮਾਨਸ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਤ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥ |
| maanas jathan karath bahu bhaath || |
| You may make all sorts of efforts, |
 |
| ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਜਾਤਿ ॥ |
| this kae karathab birathhae jaath || |
| but these attempts are in vain. |
 |
| ਮਾਰੈ ਨ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| maarai n raakhai avar n koe || |
| No one else can kill or preserve |
 |
| ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| sarab jeeaa kaa raakhaa soe || |
| He is the Protector of all beings. |
 |
| ਕਾਹੇ ਸੋਚ ਕਰਹਿ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥ |
| kaahae soch karehi rae praanee || |
| So why are you so anxious, O mortal? |
 |
| ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਲਖ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ॥੫॥ |
| jap naanak prabh alakh viddaanee ||5|| |
| Meditate, O Nanak, on God, the invisible, the wonderful! ||5|| |

| ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਪੀਐ ॥ |
| baaran baar baar prabh japeeai || |
| Time after time, again and again, meditate on God. |
 |
| ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਪੀਐ ॥ |
| pee anmrith eihu man than dhhrapeeai || |
| Drinking in this Nectar, this mind and body are satisfied. |

| ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| naam rathan jin guramukh paaeiaa || |
| The jewel of the Naam is obtained by the Gurmukhs; |
 |
| ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥ |
| this kishh avar naahee dhrisattaaeiaa || |
| they see no other than God. |
 |
| ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੋ ਰੂਪੁ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ |
| naam dhhan naamo roop rang || |
| Unto them, the Naam is wealth, the Naam is beauty and delight. |
 |
| ਨਾਮੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥ |
| naamo sukh har naam kaa sang || |
| The Naam is peace, the Lord's Name is their companion. |
 |
| ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੇ ॥ |
| naam ras jo jan thripathaanae || |
| Those who are satisfied by the essence of the Naam |
 |
| ਮਨ ਤਨ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥ |
| man than naamehi naam samaanae || |
| their minds and bodies are drenched with the Naam. |
 |
| ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਨਾਮ ॥ |
| oothath baithath sovath naam || |
| While standing up, sitting down and sleeping, the Naam, |
 |
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕਾਮ ॥੬॥ |
| kahu naanak jan kai sadh kaam ||6|| |
| says Nanak, is forever the occupation of God's humble servant. ||6|| |

| ਬੋਲਹੁ ਜਸੁ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ |
| bolahu jas jihabaa dhin raath || |
| Chant His Praises with your tongue, day and night. |
 |
| ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਜਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥ |
| prabh apanai jan keenee dhaath || |
| God Himself has given this gift to His servants. |
 |
| ਕਰਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਆਤਮ ਕੈ ਚਾਇ ॥ |
| karehi bhagath aatham kai chaae || |
| Performing devotional worship with heart-felt love, |
 |
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਿਉ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ |
| prabh apanae sio rehehi samaae || |
| they remain absorbed in God Himself. |
 |
| ਜੋ ਹੋਆ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੋ ਜਾਨੈ ॥ |
| jo hoaa hovath so jaanai || |
| They know the past and the present. |
 |
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥ |
| prabh apanae kaa hukam pashhaanai || |
| They recognize God's Own Command. |
 |
| ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਉਨ ਬਖਾਨਉ ॥ |
| this kee mehimaa koun bakhaano || |
| Who can describe His Glory? |
 |
| ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਗੁਨੁ ਕਹਿ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ॥ |
| this kaa gun kehi eaek n jaano || |
| I cannot describe even one of His virtuous qualities. |
 |
| ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਸਹਿ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥ |
| aath pehar prabh basehi hajoorae || |
| Those who dwell in God's Presence, twenty-four hours a day |
 |
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੭॥ |
| kahu naanak saeee jan poorae ||7|| |
| - says Nanak, they are the perfect persons. ||7|| |
 |
| ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਲੇਹਿ ॥ |
| man maerae thin kee outt laehi || |
| O my mind, seek their protection; |
 |
| ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਦੇਹਿ ॥ |
| man than apanaa thin jan dhaehi || |
| give your mind and body to those humble beings. |
 |
| ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ |
| jin jan apanaa prabhoo pashhaathaa || |
| Those humble beings who recognizes God |
 |
| ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਥੋਕ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥ |
| so jan sarab thhok kaa dhaathaa || |
| are the givers of all things. |
 |
| ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
| this kee saran sarab sukh paavehi || |
| In His Sanctuary, all comforts are obtained. |
 |
| ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
| this kai dharas sabh paap mittaavehi || |
| By the Blessing of His Darshan, all sins are erased. |
 |
| ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਗਲੀ ਛਾਡੁ ॥ |
| avar siaanap sagalee shhaadd || |
| So renounce all other clever devices, |
 |
| ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੁ ॥ |
| this jan kee thoo saevaa laag || |
| and enjoin yourself to the service of those servants. |
 |
| ਆਵਨੁ ਜਾਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ |
| aavan jaan n hovee thaeraa || |
| Your comings and goings shall be ended. |
 |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਸਦ ਪੈਰਾ ॥੮॥੧੭॥ |
| naanak this jan kae poojahu sadh pairaa ||8||17|| |
| O Nanak, worship the feet of God's humble servants forever. ||8||17|| |

| The one who knows the True Lord God, is called the True Guru. |

| In His Company, the Sikh is saved, O Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1|| |

| The True Guru cherishes His Sikh. |

| ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| saevak ko gur sadhaa dhaeiaal || |
| The Guru is always merciful to His servant. |
 |
| ਸਿਖ ਕੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਲੁ ਹਿਰੈ ॥ |
| sikh kee gur dhuramath mal hirai || |
| The Guru washes away the filth of the evil intellect of His Sikh. |
 |
| ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥ |
| gur bachanee har naam oucharai || |
| Through the Guru's Teachings, he chants the Lord's Name. |
 |
| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੈ ॥ |
| sathigur sikh kae bandhhan kaattai || |
| The True Guru cuts away the bonds of His Sikh. |
