| In the pitch darkness, a lamp shines forth. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖ ਤਹ ਤੇ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੬॥ |
| naanak bharam moh dhukh theh thae naasae ||6|| |
| O Nanak, doubt, emotional attachment and pain are erased. ||6|| |

| ਤਪਤਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਠਾਢਿ ਵਰਤਾਈ ॥ |
| thapath maahi thaadt varathaaee || |
| In the burning heat, a soothing coolness prevails. |
|
| ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| anadh bhaeiaa dhukh naathae bhaaee || |
| Happiness ensues and pain departs, O Siblings of Destiny. |
|
| ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸੇ ॥ |
| janam maran kae mittae andhaesae || |
| The fear of birth and death is dispelled, |
|
| ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਉਪਦੇਸੇ ॥ |
| saadhhoo kae pooran oupadhaesae || |
| by the perfect Teachings of the Holy Saint. |
|
| ਭਉ ਚੂਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਬਸੇ ॥ |
| bho chookaa nirabho hoe basae || |
| Fear is lifted, and one abides in fearlessness. |
|
| ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਖੈ ਨਸੇ ॥ |
| sagal biaadhh man thae khai nasae || |
| All evils are dispelled from the mind. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ |
| jis kaa saa thin kirapaa dhhaaree || |
| He takes us into His favor as His own. |
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥ |
| saadhhasang jap naam muraaree || |
| In the Company of the Holy, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord. |
|
| ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਚੂਕੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਗਵਨ ॥ |

| Stability is attained; doubt and wandering cease, |
|
| ਸੁਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ॥੭॥ |

| O Nanak, listening with one's ears to the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||7|| |

| ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਰਗੁਨੁ ਭੀ ਓਹੀ ॥ |
| niragun aap saragun bhee ouhee || |
| He Himself is absolute and unrelated; He Himself is also involved and related. |

| ਕਲਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੋਹੀ ॥ |
| kalaa dhhaar jin sagalee mohee || |
| Manifesting His power, He fascinates the entire world. |
|
| ਅਪਨੇ ਚਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਏ ॥ |
| apanae charith prabh aap banaaeae || |
| God Himself sets His play in motion. |
|
| ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| apunee keemath aapae paaeae || |
| Only He Himself can estimate His worth. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| har bin dhoojaa naahee koe || |
| There is none, other than the Lord. |
|
| ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| sarab niranthar eaeko soe || |
| Permeating all, He is the One. |
|
| ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ॥ |

| Through and through, He pervades in form and color. |
|
| ਰਚਿ ਰਚਨਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ |
| rach rachanaa apanee kal dhhaaree || |
| Having created the creation, He infuses His own power into it. |
|
| ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੮॥੧੮॥ |
| anik baar naanak balihaaree ||8||18|| |
| So many times, Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ||8||18|| |

| Nothing shall go along with you, except your devotion. All corruption is like ashes. |

| Practice the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. O Nanak, this is the most excellent wealth. ||1|| |

| ਏਕੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥ |

| Remember the One, and take the Support of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. |

| ਅਵਰਿ ਉਪਾਵ ਸਭਿ ਮੀਤ ਬਿਸਾਰਹੁ ॥ |

| Forget all other efforts, O my friend |
|
| ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਰਿਦ ਮਹਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਹੁ ॥ |
| charan kamal ridh mehi our dhhaarahu || |
| - enshrine the Lord's Lotus Feet within your heart. |
|
| ਕਰਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥ |
| karan kaaran so prabh samarathh || |
| God is All-powerful; He is the Cause of causes. |
|
| ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਗਹਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਵਥੁ ॥ |
| dhrirr kar gehahu naam har vathh || |
| Grasp firmly the object of the Lord's Name. |
|
| ਇਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਹੋਵਹੁ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥ |
| eihu dhhan sanchahu hovahu bhagavanth || |
| Gather this wealth, and become very fortunate. |
|
| ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੰਤ ॥ |
| santh janaa kaa niramal manth || |
| Pure are the instructions of the humble Saints. |
|
| ਏਕ ਆਸ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ |
| eaek aas raakhahu man maahi || |
| Keep faith in the One Lord within your mind. |
|
| ਸਰਬ ਰੋਗ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ |
| sarab rog naanak mitt jaahi ||1|| |
| All disease, O Nanak, shall then be dispelled. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਧਨ ਕਉ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
| jis dhhan ko chaar kuntt outh dhhaavehi || |
| The wealth which you chase after in the four directions |
|
| ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥ |
| so dhhan har saevaa thae paavehi || |
| you shall obtain that wealth by serving the Lord. |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਸੁਖ ਕਉ ਨਿਤ ਬਾਛਹਿ ਮੀਤ ॥ |
| jis sukh ko nith baashhehi meeth || |
| The peace, which you always yearn for, O friend |
|
| ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥ |
| so sukh saadhhoo sang pareeth || |
| that peace comes by the love of the Company of the Holy. |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਹਿ ਭਲੀ ਕਰਨੀ ॥ |
| jis sobhaa ko karehi bhalee karanee || |
| The glory, for which you perform good deeds |
|
| ਸਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਨੀ ॥ |
| saa sobhaa bhaj har kee saranee || |
| - you shall obtain that glory by seeking the Lord's Sanctuary. |
|
| ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵੀ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| anik oupaavee rog n jaae || |
| All sorts of remedies have not cured the disease |
|
| ਰੋਗੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਖਧੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| rog mittai har avakhadhh laae || |
| - the disease is cured only by giving the medicine of the Lord's Name. |
|
| ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥ |
| sarab nidhhaan mehi har naam nidhhaan || |
| Of all treasures, the Lord's Name is the supreme treasure. |

| ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥ |
| jap naanak dharagehi paravaan ||2|| |
| Chant it, O Nanak, and be accepted in the Court of the Lord. ||2|| |

| ਮਨੁ ਪਰਬੋਧਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ॥ |
| man parabodhhahu har kai naae || |
| Enlighten your mind with the Name of the Lord. |
|
| ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵਤ ਆਵੈ ਠਾਇ ॥ |
| dheh dhis dhhaavath aavai thaae || |
| Having wandered around in the ten directions, it comes to its place of rest. |
|
| ਤਾ ਕਉ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| thaa ko bighan n laagai koe || |
| No obstacle stands in the way of one |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| jaa kai ridhai basai har soe || |
| whose heart is filled with the Lord. |
|
| ਕਲਿ ਤਾਤੀ ਠਾਂਢਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| kal thaathee thaandtaa har naao || |
| The Dark Age of Kali Yuga is so hot; the Lord's Name is soothing and cool. |
