| Remember, remember it in meditation, and obtain everlasting peace. |

| ਭਉ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਆਸ ॥ |
| bho binasai pooran hoe aas || |
| Your fear shall be dispelled, and your hopes shall be fulfilled. |

| ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਆਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥ |
| bhagath bhaae aatham paragaas || |
| By devotional worship and loving adoration, your soul shall be enlightened. |

| ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਸੈ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥ |
| thith ghar jaae basai abinaasee || |
| You shall go to that home, and live forever. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਟੀ ਜਮ ਫਾਸੀ ॥੩॥ |
| kahu naanak kaattee jam faasee ||3|| |
| Says Nanak, the noose of death is cut away. ||3|| |

| ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਕਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ॥ |

| One who contemplates the essence of reality, is said to be the true person. |

| ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੋ ਕਾਚੋ ਕਾਚਾ ॥ |
| janam marai so kaacho kaachaa || |
| Birth and death are the lot of the false and the insincere. |
|
| ਆਵਾ ਗਵਨੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਵ ॥ |
| aavaa gavan mittai prabh saev || |
| Coming and going in reincarnation is ended by serving God. |
|
| ਆਪੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥ |
| aap thiaag saran guradhaev || |
| Give up your selfishness and conceit, and seek the Sanctuary of the Divine Guru. |

| ਇਉ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| eio rathan janam kaa hoe oudhhaar || |
| Thus the jewel of this human life is saved. |

| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| har har simar praan aadhhaar || |
| Remember the Lord, Har, Har, the Support of the breath of life. |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਨ ਛੂਟਨਹਾਰੇ ॥ |

| By all sorts of efforts, people are not saved |
|
| ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਬੇਦ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ |

| not by studying the Simritees, the Shaastras or the Vedas. |

| ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| har kee bhagath karahu man laae || |
| Worship the Lord with whole-hearted devotion. |
|
| ਮਨਿ ਬੰਛਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਫਲ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥ |
| man banshhath naanak fal paae ||4|| |
| O Nanak, you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desire. ||4|| |

| ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲਸਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਧਨਾ ॥ |

| Your wealth shall not go with you; |

| ਤੂੰ ਕਿਆ ਲਪਟਾਵਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨਾ ॥ |

| why do you cling to it, you fool? |

| ਸੁਤ ਮੀਤ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਅਰੁ ਬਨਿਤਾ ॥ |

| Children, friends, family and spouse |

| ਇਨ ਤੇ ਕਹਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਕਵਨ ਸਨਾਥਾ ॥ |

| who of these shall accompany you? |

| ਰਾਜ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥ |
| raaj rang maaeiaa bisathhaar || |
| Power, pleasure, and the vast expanse of Maya |
|
| ਇਨ ਤੇ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਛੁਟਕਾਰ ॥ |
| ein thae kehahu kavan shhuttakaar || |
| who has ever escaped from these? |
|
| ਅਸੁ ਹਸਤੀ ਰਥ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ॥ |
| as hasathee rathh asavaaree || |
| Horses, elephants, chariots and pageantry |
|
| ਝੂਠਾ ਡੰਫੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਪਾਸਾਰੀ ॥ |
| jhoothaa ddanf jhooth paasaaree || |
| - false shows and false displays. |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਬੁਝੈ ਨ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥ |
| jin dheeeae this bujhai n bigaanaa || |
| The fool does not acknowledge the One who gave this; |
|
| ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਛੁਤਾਨਾ ॥੫॥ |
| naam bisaar naanak pashhuthaanaa ||5|| |
| forgetting the Naam, O Nanak, he will repent in the end. ||5|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਤੂੰ ਲੇਹਿ ਇਆਨੇ ॥ |
| gur kee math thoon laehi eiaanae || |
| Take the Guru's advice, you ignorant fool; |

| ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਹੁ ਡੂਬੇ ਸਿਆਨੇ ॥ |
| bhagath binaa bahu ddoobae siaanae || |
| without devotion, even the clever have drowned. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੀਤ ॥ |
| har kee bhagath karahu man meeth || |
| Worship the Lord with heart-felt devotion, my friend; |
|
| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਇ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੋ ਚੀਤ ॥ |
| niramal hoe thumhaaro cheeth || |
| your consciousness shall become pure. |
|
| ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ |
| janam janam kae kilabikh jaahi || |
| the sins of countless lifetimes shall depart. |
|
| ਆਪਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਅਵਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵਹੁ ॥ |
| aap japahu avaraa naam japaavahu || |
| Chant the Naam yourself, and inspire others to chant it as well. |
|
| ਸੁਨਤ ਕਹਤ ਰਹਤ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥ |
| sunath kehath rehath gath paavahu || |
| Hearing, speaking and living it, emancipation is obtained. |
|
| ਸਾਰ ਭੂਤ ਸਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| saar bhooth sath har ko naao || |
| The essential reality is the True Name of the Lord. |
|
| ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥੬॥ |
| sehaj subhaae naanak gun gaao ||6|| |
| With intuitive ease, O Nanak, sing His Glorious Praises. ||6|| |

| ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਮੈਲੁ ॥ |
| gun gaavath thaeree outharas mail || |
| Chanting His Glories, your filth shall be washed off. |
|
| ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਫੈਲੁ ॥ |
| binas jaae houmai bikh fail || |
| The all-consuming poison of ego will be gone. |
|
| ਹੋਹਿ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਬਸੈ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ |
| hohi achinth basai sukh naal || |
| You shall become carefree, and you shall dwell in peace. |
|
| ਸਾਸਿ ਗ੍ਰਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ |
| saas graas har naam samaal || |
| With every breath and every morsel of food, cherish the Lord's Name. |
|
| ਛਾਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਗਲੀ ਮਨਾ ॥ |
| shhaadd siaanap sagalee manaa || |
| Renounce all clever tricks, O mind. |
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਧਨਾ ॥ |
| saadhhasang paavehi sach dhhanaa || |
| In the Company of the Holy, you shall obtain the true wealth. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸੰਚਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥ |
| har poonjee sanch karahu biouhaar || |
| So gather the Lord's Name as your capital, and trade in it. |
|
| ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥ |
| eehaa sukh dharageh jaikaar || |
| In this world you shall be at peace, and in the Court of the Lord, you shall be acclaimed. |
|
| ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਦੇਖੁ ॥ |
| sarab niranthar eaeko dhaekh || |
| See the One permeating all; |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖੁ ॥੭॥ |
| kahu naanak jaa kai masathak laekh ||7|| |
| says Nanak, your destiny is pre-ordained. ||7|| |
|
| ਏਕੋ ਜਪਿ ਏਕੋ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ॥ |
| eaeko jap eaeko saalaahi || |
| Meditate on the One, and worship the One. |
|
| ਏਕੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਮਨ ਆਹਿ ॥ |
| eaek simar eaeko man aahi || |
| Remember the One, and yearn for the One in your mind. |
|
| ਏਕਸ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ਅਨੰਤ ॥ |
| eaekas kae gun gaao ananth || |
| Sing the endless Glorious Praises of the One. |
|
| ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਜਾਪਿ ਏਕ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥ |
| man than jaap eaek bhagavanth || |
| With mind and body, meditate on the One Lord God. |
|
| ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ॥ |

| The One Lord Himself is the One and Only. |

| ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਿਆਪਿ ॥ |
