| Focus your consciousness on the One, the All-pervading Lord |

| ਏਕ ਰੂਪ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ |
| eaek roop jaa kae rang anaek || |
| He has One Form, but He has many manifestations. |

| ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ |
| gopaal dhaamodhar dheen dhaeiaal || |
| Sustainer of the Universe, Lord of the world, Kind to the poor, |

| ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥ |
| dhukh bhanjan pooran kirapaal || |
| Destroyer of sorrow, perfectly Merciful. |

| ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ॥ |
| simar simar naam baaran baar || |
| Meditate, meditate in remembrance on the Naam, again and again. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੨॥ |

| O Nanak, it is the Support of the soul. ||2|| |

| The most sublime hymns are the Words of the Holy. |

| ਅਮੁਲੀਕ ਲਾਲ ਏਹਿ ਰਤਨ ॥ |

| These are priceless rubies and gems. |

| ਸੁਨਤ ਕਮਾਵਤ ਹੋਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥ |
| sunath kamaavath hoth oudhhaar || |
| One who listens and acts on them is saved. |
|
| ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਲੋਕਹ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥ |
| aap tharai lokeh nisathaar || |
| He himself swims across, and saves others as well. |
|
| ਸਫਲ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥ |
| safal jeevan safal thaa kaa sang || |
| His life is prosperous, and his company is fruitful; |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ॥ |
| jaa kai man laagaa har rang || |
| his mind is imbued with the love of the Lord. |
|
| ਜੈ ਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਨਾਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ॥ |
| jai jai sabadh anaahadh vaajai || |
| Hail, hail to him, for whom the sound current of the Shabad vibrates. |

| ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਅਨਦ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗਾਜੈ ॥ |
| sun sun anadh karae prabh gaajai || |
| Hearing it again and again, he is in bliss, proclaiming God's Praises. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਮਹਾਂਤ ਕੈ ਮਾਥੇ ॥ |
| pragattae gupaal mehaanth kai maathhae || |
| The Lord radiates from the foreheads of the Holy. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥੩॥ |

| Nanak is saved in their company. ||3|| |

| ਸਰਨਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਰਨੀ ਆਏ ॥ |
| saran jog sun saranee aaeae || |
| Hearing that He can give Sanctuary, I have come seeking His Sanctuary. |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ |
| kar kirapaa prabh aap milaaeae || |
| Bestowing His Mercy, God has blended me with Himself. |
|
| ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਬੈਰ ਭਏ ਸਭ ਰੇਨ ॥ |
| mitt geae bair bheae sabh raen || |
| Hatred is gone, and I have become the dust of all. |
|
| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਲੈਨ ॥ |

| I have received the Ambrosial Naam in the Company of the Holy. |

| ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਭਏ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥ |

| The Divine Guru is perfectly pleased; |

| ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥ |

| the service of His servant has been rewarded. |

| ਆਲ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਰਹਤੇ ॥ |
| aal janjaal bikaar thae rehathae || |
| I have been released from worldly entanglements and corruption, |
|
| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਕਹਤੇ ॥ |
| raam naam sun rasanaa kehathae || |
| hearing the Lord's Name and chanting it with my tongue. |
|
| ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੁ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ |
| kar prasaadh dhaeiaa prabh dhhaaree || |
| By His Grace, God has bestowed His Mercy. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਬਹੀ ਖੇਪ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੪॥ |

| O Nanak, my merchandise has arrived save and sound. ||4|| |

| Sing the Praises of God, O Saints, O friends, |

| ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਏਕਾਗਰ ਚੀਤ ॥ |
| saavadhhaan eaekaagar cheeth || |
| with total concentration and one-pointedness of mind. |

| ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ਸਹਜ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਨ ਨਾਮ ॥ |
| sukhamanee sehaj gobindh gun naam || |
| Sukhmani is the peaceful ease, the Glory of God, the Naam. |
|
| ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥ |
| jis man basai s hoth nidhhaan || |
| When it abides in the mind, one becomes wealthy. |
|
| ਸਰਬ ਇਛਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| sarab eishhaa thaa kee pooran hoe || |
| All desires are fulfilled. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਸਭ ਲੋਇ ॥ |
| pradhhaan purakh pragatt sabh loe || |
| One becomes the most respected person, famous all over the world. |
|
| ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਪਾਏ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ॥ |
| sabh thae ooch paaeae asathhaan || |
| He obtains the highest place of all. |
|
| ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨੁ ॥ |
| bahur n hovai aavan jaan || |
| He does not come and go in reincarnation any longer. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟਿ ਚਲੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| har dhhan khaatt chalai jan soe || |
| One who departs, after earning the wealth of the Lord's Name, |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥ |

| ਖੇਮ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ॥ |

| Comfort, peace and tranquility, wealth and the nine treasures; |

| ਬੁਧਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਤਹ ਸਿਧਿ ॥ |
| budhh giaan sarab theh sidhh || |
| wisdom, knowledge, and all spiritual powers; |
|
| ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਊਤਮ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥ |
| giaan sraesatt ootham eisanaan || |
| The most sublime wisdom and purifying baths; |
|
| ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥ |
| chaar padhaarathh kamal pragaas || |
| the four cardinal blessings, the opening of the heart-lotus; |
|
| ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਧਿ ਸਗਲ ਤੇ ਉਦਾਸ ॥ |
| sabh kai madhh sagal thae oudhaas || |
| in the midst of all, and yet detached from all; |
|
| ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਤਤ ਕਾ ਬੇਤਾ ॥ |
| sundhar chathur thath kaa baethaa || |
| beauty, intelligence, and the realization of reality; |
|
| ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੇਤਾ ॥ |
| samadharasee eaek dhrisattaethaa || |
| to look impartially upon all, and to see only the One |
|
| ਇਹ ਫਲ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਨੇ ॥ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਚਨ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਨੇ ॥੬॥ |
| eih fal this jan kai mukh bhanae || gur naanak naam bachan man sunae ||6|| |
| - these blessings come to one who, through Guru Nanak, chants the Naam with his mouth, and hears the Word with his ears. ||6|| |

| ਇਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਪੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| eihu nidhhaan japai man koe || |
| One who chants this treasure in his mind |

| ਸਭ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| sabh jug mehi thaa kee gath hoe || |
| in every age, he attains salvation. |
|
| ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ |
| gun gobindh naam dhhun baanee || |
| In it is the Glory of God, the Naam, the chanting of Gurbani. |
|
| ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਬਖਾਣੀ ॥ |
| simrith saasathr baedh bakhaanee || |
| The Simritees, the Shaastras and the Vedas speak of it. |
