| pooranamaa pooran prabh eaek karan kaaran samarathh || |
| The day of the full moon: God alone is Perfect; He is the All-powerful Cause of causes. |

| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹਥੁ ॥ |
| jeea janth dhaeiaal purakh sabh oopar jaa kaa hathh || |
| The Lord is kind and compassionate to all beings and creatures; His Protecting Hand is over all. |
|
| ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਆ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| gun nidhhaan gobindh gur keeaa jaa kaa hoe || |
| He is the Treasure of Excellence, the Lord of the Universe; through the Guru, He acts. |

| ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ਅਲਖ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| antharajaamee prabh sujaan alakh niranjan soe || |
| God, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is All-knowing, Unseen and Immaculately Pure. |

| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੋ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਨਣਹਾਰ ॥ |
| paarabreham paramaesaro sabh bidhh jaananehaar || |
| The Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord, is the Knower of all ways and means. |

| ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ਸਰਨਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥ |
| santh sehaaee saran jog aath pehar namasakaar || |
| He is the Support of His Saints, with the Power to give Sanctuary. Twenty-four hours a day, I bow in reverence to Him. |
|
| ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਨਹ ਬੂਝੀਐ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥ |
| akathh kathhaa neh boojheeai simarahu har kae charan || |
| His Unspoken Speech cannot be understood; I meditate on the Feet of the Lord. |

| ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨ ॥੧੬॥ |
| pathith oudhhaaran anaathh naathh naanak prabh kee saran ||16|| |
| He is the Saving Grace of sinners, the Master of the masterless; Nanak has entered God's Sanctuary. ||16|| |

| ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸਹਸਾ ਗਇਓ ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥ |
| dhukh binasae sehasaa gaeiou saran gehee har raae || |
| My pain is gone, and my sorrows have departed, since I took to the Sanctuary of the Lord, my King. |
|
| ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧੭॥ |
| man chindhae fal paaeiaa naanak har gun gaae ||17|| |
| I have obtained the fruits of my mind's desires, O Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||17|| |

| ਕੋਈ ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਸੁਣੈ ਕੋਈ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ |
| koee gaavai ko sunai koee karai beechaar || |
| Some sing, some listen, and some contemplate; |
|
| ਕੋ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਕੋ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| ko oupadhaesai ko dhrirrai this kaa hoe oudhhaar || |
| some preach, and some implant the Name within; this is how they are saved. |
|
| ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੈ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| kilabikh kaattai hoe niramalaa janam janam mal jaae || |
| Their sinful mistakes are erased, and they become pure; the filth of countless incarnations is washed away. |
|
| ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਮੁਖੁ ਊਜਲਾ ਨਹ ਪੋਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇ ॥ |
| halath palath mukh oojalaa neh pohai this maae || |
| In this world and the next, their faces shall be radiant; they shall not be touched by Maya. |
|
| ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾ ਸੋ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਸੋ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਨਵੰਤੁ ॥ |
| so surathaa so baisano so giaanee dhhanavanth || |
| They are intuitively wise, and they are Vaishnaavs, worshippers of Vishnu; they are spiritually wise, wealthy and prosperous. |
|
| ਸੋ ਸੂਰਾ ਕੁਲਵੰਤੁ ਸੋਇ ਜਿਨਿ ਭਜਿਆ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥ |
| so sooraa kulavanth soe jin bhajiaa bhagavanth || |
| They are spiritual heros, of noble birth, who vibrate upon the Lord God. |
|
| ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਸੂਦੁ ਬੈਸੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਚੰਡਾਲ ॥ |
| khathree braahaman soodh bais oudhharai simar chanddaal || |
| The Kh'shatriyas, the Brahmins, the low-caste Soodras, the Vaisha workers and the outcast pariahs are all saved, |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਰਵਾਲ ॥੧੭॥ |
| jin jaaniou prabh aapanaa naanak thisehi ravaal ||17|| |
| meditating on the Lord. Nanak is the dust of the feet of those who know his God. ||17|| |

| sathigur purakh dhaeiaal hai jis no samath sabh koe || |
| The True Guru, the Primal Being, is kind and compassionate; all are alike to Him. |

| ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਮਨ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਤੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| eaek dhrisatt kar dhaekhadhaa man bhaavanee thae sidhh hoe || |
| He looks upon all impartially; with pure faith in the mind, He is obtained. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਦੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| sathigur vich anmrith hai har outham har padh soe || |
| The Ambrosial Nectar is within the True Guru; He is exalted and sublime, of Godly status. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ |

| O Nanak, by His Grace, one meditates on the Lord; the Gurmukhs obtain Him. ||1|| |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਭ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਤ ਜਗਿ ਤੋਟਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥ |
| houmai maaeiaa sabh bikh hai nith jag thottaa sansaar || |
| Egotism and Maya are total poison; in these, people continually suffer loss in this world. |
|
| ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
| laahaa har dhhan khattiaa guramukh sabadh veechaar || |
| The Gurmukh earns the profit of the wealth of the Lord's Name, contemplating the Word of the Shabad. |

| ਸਭਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਿਧਿ ਹਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ |
| sabh kaaraj thin kae sidhh hehi jin guramukh kirapaa dhhaar || |
| All the Gurmukh's affairs are brought to perfect completion; the Lord has showered him with His Mercy. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak jo dhhur milae sae mil rehae har maelae sirajanehaar ||2|| |
| O Nanak, one who meets the Primal Lord remains blended with the Lord, the Creator Lord. ||2|| |

| ਤੂ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥ |
| thoo sachaa saahib sach hai sach sachaa gosaaee || |
| You are True, O True Lord and Master. You are the Truest of the True, O Lord of the World. |

| ਤੁਧੁਨੋ ਸਭ ਧਿਆਇਦੀ ਸਭ ਲਗੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| thudhhuno sabh dhhiaaeidhee sabh lagai thaeree paaee || |
| Everyone meditates on You; everyone falls at Your Feet. |

| ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸੁਆਲਿਉ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਲਘਾਈ ॥ |
| thaeree sifath suaalio saroop hai jin keethee this paar laghaaee || |
| Your Praises are graceful and beautiful; You save those who speak them. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥ |
| guramukhaa no fal paaeidhaa sach naam samaaee || |
| You reward the Gurmukhs, who are absorbed in the True Name. |

| ਵਡੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਵਡੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ |
| vaddae maerae saahibaa vaddee thaeree vaddiaaee ||1|| |
| O my Great Lord and Master, great is Your glorious greatness. ||1|| |

| vin naavai hor salaahanaa sabh bolan fikaa saadh || |
| Without the Name, all other praise and speech is insipid and tasteless. |

| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਲਾਹਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਵਾਦੁ ॥ |
| manamukh ahankaar salaahadhae houmai mamathaa vaadh || |
| The self-willed manmukhs praise their own egos; their attachment to egotism is useless. |
|
| ਜਿਨ ਸਾਲਾਹਨਿ ਸੇ ਮਰਹਿ ਖਪਿ ਜਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਅਪਵਾਦੁ ॥ |
| jin saalaahan sae marehi khap jaavai sabh apavaadh || |
| Those whom they praise, die; they all waste away in conflict. |
|
| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਮਾਨਾਦੁ ॥੧॥ |
| jan naanak guramukh oubarae jap har har paramaanaadh ||1|| |
| O servant Nanak, the Gurmukhs are saved, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, the Embodiment of Supreme Bliss. ||1|| |

| O True Guru, tell me of my Lord God, that I may meditate on the Naam within my mind. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲੀ ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਰਹਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak naam pavith har mukh bolee sabh dhukh pareharee ||2|| |
| O Nanak , the Lord's Name is sacred and pure; chanting it, all my pain has been taken away. ||2|| |

| ਜਿਨੀ ਤੂ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jinee thoo eik man sach dhhiaaeiaa thin kaa sabh dhukh gavaaeiaa || |
| Those who meditate on You, O True Lord with one-pointed mind, are rid of all their pain. |
