ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਵਡਾ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਲਏ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਟਿਕੇ ॥ |
sach sachaa sabh dhoo vaddaa hai so leae jis sathigur ttikae || |
The True Lord is truly the greatest of all; he alone obtains Him, who is anointed by the Guru. |

ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਇਕੇ ॥ |
so sathigur j sach dhhiaaeidhaa sach sachaa sathigur eikae || |
He is the True Guru, who meditates on the True Lord. The True Lord and the True Guru are truly One. |

ਸੋਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੰਜੇ ਦੂਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਵਸਿ ਛਿਕੇ ॥ |
soee sathigur purakh hai jin panjae dhooth keethae vas shhikae || |
He is the True Guru, the Primal Being, who has totally conquered his five passions. |

ਜਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਇਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਫਿਟੁ ਫਿਟੁ ਮੁਹ ਫਿਕੇ ॥ |
j bin sathigur saevae aap ganaaeidhae thin andhar koorr fitt fitt muh fikae || |
One who does not serve the True Guru, and who praises himself, is filled with falsehood within. Cursed, cursed is his ugly face. |

ਓਇ ਬੋਲੇ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਚੁਕੇ ॥੮॥ |
oue bolae kisai n bhaavanee muh kaalae sathigur thae chukae ||8|| |
His words are not pleasing to anyone; his face is blackened, and he is separated from the True Guru. ||8|| |

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਖੇਤੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਿਰਸਾਣੀ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
har prabh kaa sabh khaeth hai har aap kirasaanee laaeiaa || |
Everyone is the field of the Lord God; the Lord Himself cultivates this field. |

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਜਮਾਈਅਨੁ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ |
guramukh bakhas jamaaeean manamukhee mool gavaaeiaa || |
The Gurmukh grows the crop of forgiveness, while the self-willed manmukh loses even his roots. |

ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਬੀਜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਲੇ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਖੇਤੁ ਜਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
sabh ko beejae aapanae bhalae no har bhaavai so khaeth jamaaeiaa || |
They all plant for their own good, but the Lord causes to grow only that field with which He is pleased. |

ਗੁਰਸਿਖੀ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਫਲੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
gurasikhee har anmrith beejiaa har anmrith naam fal anmrith paaeiaa || |
The GurSikh plants the seed of the Lord's Ambrosial Nectar, and obtains the Lord's Ambrosial Naam as his Ambrosial Fruit. |

ਜਮੁ ਚੂਹਾ ਕਿਰਸ ਨਿਤ ਕੁਰਕਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਢਾਇਆ ॥ |
jam choohaa kiras nith kurakadhaa har karathai maar kadtaaeiaa || |
The mouse of Death is continually gnawing away at the crop, but the Creator Lord has beaten it off and driven it away. |

ਕਿਰਸਾਣੀ ਜੰਮੀ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਹਲ ਬਖਸ ਜਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
kirasaanee janmee bhaao kar har bohal bakhas jamaaeiaa || |
The farm was successful, by the Love of the Lord, and the crop was produced by God's Grace. |

ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਕਾੜਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਸਭੁ ਲਾਹਿਓਨੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ |
thin kaa kaarraa andhaesaa sabh laahioun jinee sathigur purakh dhhiaaeiaa || |
He has removed all the burning and anxiety of those, who have meditated on the True Guru, the Primal Being. |

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ |
jan naanak naam araadhhiaa aap thariaa sabh jagath tharaaeiaa ||1|| |
O servant Nanak, one who worships and adores the Naam, the Name of the Lord, swims across, and saves the whole world as well. ||1|| |

ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਅਟਿਆ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਰੇ ਗਲਾ ॥ |
saaraa dhin laalach attiaa manamukh horae galaa || |
The self-willed manmukh is occupied with greed all day long, although he may claim otherwise. |

ਰਾਤੀ ਊਘੈ ਦਬਿਆ ਨਵੇ ਸੋਤ ਸਭਿ ਢਿਲਾ ॥ |
raathee ooghai dhabiaa navae soth sabh dtilaa || |
At night, he is overcome by fatigue, and all his nine holes are weakened. |

ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਦੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਜੋਰਾ ਅਮਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਿਤ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਭਲਾ ॥ |
manamukhaa dhai sir joraa amar hai nith dhaevehi bhalaa || |
Over the head of the manmukh is the order of the woman; to her, he ever holds out his promises of goodness. |

ਜੋਰਾ ਦਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਸੇ ਅਪਵਿਤ ਅਮੇਧ ਖਲਾ ॥ |
joraa dhaa aakhiaa purakh kamaavadhae sae apavith amaedhh khalaa || |
Those men who act according to the orders of women are impure, filthy and foolish. |

ਕਾਮਿ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਕੁਸੁਧ ਨਰ ਸੇ ਜੋਰਾ ਪੁਛਿ ਚਲਾ ॥ |
kaam viaapae kusudhh nar sae joraa pushh chalaa || |
Those impure men are engrossed in sexual desire; they consult their women and walk accordingly. |

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਆਖਿਐ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਸੋ ਸਤਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਭਲ ਭਲਾ ॥ |
sathigur kai aakhiai jo chalai so sath purakh bhal bhalaa || |
One who walks as the True Guru tells him to, is the true man, the best of the best. |

ਜੋਰਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਖੇਲ ਸਭਿ ਖਿਲਾ ॥ |
joraa purakh sabh aap oupaaeian har khael sabh khilaa || |
He Himself created all women and men; the Lord Himself plays every play. |

ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਵਣੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਲ ਭਲਾ ॥੨॥ |
sabh thaeree banath banaavanee naanak bhal bhalaa ||2|| |
You created the entire creation; O Nanak, it is the best of the best. ||2|| |

You are carefree, unfathomable and immeasurable; how can You be measured? |

ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੀਐ ॥ |
sae vaddabhaagee j thudhh dhhiaaeidhae jin sathigur mileeai || |
Those who have met the True Guru and who meditate on You are very fortunate. |

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਬਣੀਐ ॥ |
sathigur kee baanee sath saroop hai gurabaanee baneeai || |
The Word of the True Guru's Bani is the embodiment of Truth; through Gurbani, one becomes perfect. |

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਰੀਸੈ ਹੋਰਿ ਕਚੁ ਪਿਚੁ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸੇ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਕੂੜੇ ਝੜਿ ਪੜੀਐ ॥ |
sathigur kee reesai hor kach pich boladhae sae koorriaar koorrae jharr parreeai || |
Jealously emulating the True Guru, some others may speak of good and bad, but the false are destroyed by their falsehood. |

ਓਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਹੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੋ ਝਖਿ ਮਰਦੇ ਕੜੀਐ ॥੯॥ |
ounhaa andhar hor mukh hor hai bikh maaeiaa no jhakh maradhae karreeai ||9|| |
Deep within them is one thing, and in their mouths is another; they suck in the poison of Maya, and then they painfully waste away. ||9|| |

sathigur kee saevaa niramalee niramal jan hoe s saevaa ghaalae || |
Service to the True Guru is immaculate and pure; those humble beings who are pure perform this service. |

ਸਚਿਆਰ ਸਿਖ ਬਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ਘਾਲਨਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਨ ਲਭਨੀ ਕਿਤੈ ਥਾਇ ਭਾਲੇ ॥ |
sachiaar sikh behi sathigur paas ghaalan koorriaar n labhanee kithai thhaae bhaalae || |
The truthful Sikhs sit by the True Guru's side and serve Him. The false ones search, but find no place of rest. |

ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੁਖਾਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਮੁਹ ਭਲੇਰੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਦਯਿ ਗਾਲੇ ॥ |
jinaa sathigur kaa aakhiaa sukhaavai naahee thinaa muh bhalaerae firehi dhay gaalae || |
Those who are not pleased with the Words of the True Guru - their faces are cursed, and they wander around, condemned by God. |

ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ਸੇ ਕਿਚਰਕੁ ਵੇਰਾਈਅਨਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੇਤਾਲੇ ॥ |
jin andhar preeth nehee har kaeree sae kicharak vaeraaeean manamukh baethaalae || |
Those who do not have the Love of the Lord within their hearts - how long can those demonic, self-willed manmukhs be consoled? |

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁ ਥਾਇ ਰਖੈ ਓਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪਣੀ ਵਥੁ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ |
sathigur no milai s aapanaa man thhaae rakhai ouhu aap varathai aapanee vathh naalae || |
One who meets the True Guru, keeps his mind in its own place; he spends only his own assets. |

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਨਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਵਖਿ ਕਢੈ ਠਗਵਾਲੇ ॥੧॥ |
jan naanak eikanaa gur mael sukh dhaevai eik aapae vakh kadtai thagavaalae ||1|| |
O servant Nanak, some are united with the Guru; to some, the Lord grants peace, while others - deceitful cheats - suffer in isolation. ||1|| |

jinaa andhar naam nidhhaan har thin kae kaaj dhay aadhae raas || |
Those who have the treasure of the Lord's Name deep within their hearts - the Lord resolves their affairs. |

ਤਿਨ ਚੂਕੀ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੀ ਲੋਕਨ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅੰਗੁ ਕਰਿ ਬੈਠਾ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ |
thin chookee muhathaajee lokan kee har prabh ang kar baithaa paas || |
They are no longer subservient to other people; the Lord God sits by them, at their side. |

ਜਾਂ ਕਰਤਾ ਵਲਿ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਲਿ ਸਭਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥ |
jaan karathaa val thaa sabh ko val sabh dharasan dhaekh karehi saabaas || |
When the Creator is on their side, then everyone is on their side. Beholding their vision, everyone applauds them. |

ਸਾਹੁ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਆਇ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
saahu paathisaahu sabh har kaa keeaa sabh jan ko aae karehi reharaas || |
Kings and emperors are all created by the Lord; they all come and bow in reverence to the Lord's humble servant. |

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਵਡਾ ਸੇਵਿ ਅਤੁਲੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
gur poorae kee vaddee vaddiaaee har vaddaa saev athul sukh paaeiaa || |
Great is the greatness of the Perfect Guru. Serving the Great Lord, I have obtained immeasurable peace. |

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਨਿਤ ਬਖਸੇ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥ |
gur poorai dhaan dheeaa har nihachal nith bakhasae charrai savaaeiaa || |
The Lord has bestowed this eternal gift upon the Perfect Guru; His blessings increase day by day. |

ਕੋਈ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਖਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਸੋ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਪਚਾਇਆ ॥ |
koee nindhak vaddiaaee dhaekh n sakai so karathai aap pachaaeiaa || |
The slanderer, who cannot endure His greatness, is destroyed by the Creator Himself. |

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲੈ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਭਗਤਾ ਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ॥੨॥ |
jan naanak gun bolai karathae kae bhagathaa no sadhaa rakhadhaa aaeiaa ||2|| |
Servant Nanak chants the Glorious Praises of the Creator, who protects His devotees forever. ||2|| |

You, O Lord and Master, are inaccessible and merciful; You are the Great Giver, All-knowing. |

ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੋ ਦਿਸਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤੂਹੈਂ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣਾ ॥ |
thudhh jaevadd mai hor ko dhis naa aavee thoohain sugharr maerai man bhaanaa || |
I can see no other as great as You; O Lord of Wisdom, You are pleasing to my mind. |
