| In the terrifying world-ocean, there is an ocean of peace. |

| ਪੀਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਜਲ ਨਿਖੁਟਤ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੩॥ |
| peev rehae jal nikhuttath naahee ||3|| |
| I continue to drink it in, but this Water is never exhausted. ||3|| |

| ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜੁ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਨੀ ॥ |
| kehi kabeer bhaj saaringapaanee || |
| Says Kabeer, meditate and vibrate upon the Lord, like the rainbird remembering the water. |

| ਰਾਮ ਉਦਕਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਤਿਖਾ ਬੁਝਾਨੀ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
| raam oudhak maeree thikhaa bujhaanee ||4||1|| |
| The Water of the Lord's Name has quenched my thirst. ||4||1|| |

| ਮਾਧਉ ਜਲ ਕੀ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| maadhho jal kee piaas n jaae || |
| O Lord, my thirst for the Water of Your Name will not go away. |

| ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਉਠੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jal mehi agan outhee adhhikaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| The fire of my thirst burns even more brightly in that Water. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਤੂੰ ਜਲਨਿਧਿ ਹਉ ਜਲ ਕਾ ਮੀਨੁ ॥ |
| thoon jalanidhh ho jal kaa meen || |
| You are the Ocean of Water, and I am just a fish in that Water. |
|
| ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਉ ਜਲਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖੀਨੁ ॥੧॥ |
| jal mehi reho jalehi bin kheen ||1|| |
| In that Water, I remain; without that Water, I would perish. ||1|| |
|
| ਤੂੰ ਪਿੰਜਰੁ ਹਉ ਸੂਅਟਾ ਤੋਰ ॥ |
| thoon pinjar ho sooattaa thor || |
| You are the cage, and I am Your parrot. |
|
| ਜਮੁ ਮੰਜਾਰੁ ਕਹਾ ਕਰੈ ਮੋਰ ॥੨॥ |
| jam manjaar kehaa karai mor ||2|| |
| So what can the cat of death do to me? ||2|| |
|
| ਤੂੰ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਹਉ ਪੰਖੀ ਆਹਿ ॥ |
| thoon tharavar ho pankhee aahi || |
| You are the tree, and I am the bird. |
|
| ਤੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹਉ ਨਉਤਨੁ ਚੇਲਾ ॥ |
| thoon sathigur ho nouthan chaelaa || |
| You are the True Guru, and I am Your new disciple. |
|
| ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਮਿਲੁ ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬੇਲਾ ॥੪॥੨॥ |

| Says Kabeer, O Lord, please meet me - this is my very last chance! ||4||2|| |

| When I realize that there is One, and only One Lord, |

| ਤਬ ਲੋਗਹ ਕਾਹੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| thab logeh kaahae dhukh maaniaa ||1|| |
| why then should the people be upset? ||1|| |
|
| ਹਮ ਅਪਤਹ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥ |
| ham apatheh apunee path khoee || |
| I am dishonored; I have lost my honor. |
|
| ਹਮਰੈ ਖੋਜਿ ਪਰਹੁ ਮਤਿ ਕੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| hamarai khoj parahu math koee ||1|| rehaao || |
| No one should follow in my footsteps. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਹਮ ਮੰਦੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ |
| ham mandhae mandhae man maahee || |
| I am bad, and bad in my mind as well. |

| ਸਾਝ ਪਾਤਿ ਕਾਹੂ ਸਿਉ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨॥ |
| saajh paath kaahoo sio naahee ||2|| |
| I have no partnership with anyone. ||2|| |
|
| ਪਤਿ ਅਪਤਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਨਹੀ ਲਾਜ ॥ |
| path apath thaa kee nehee laaj || |
| I have no shame about honor or dishonor. |
|
| ਤਬ ਜਾਨਹੁਗੇ ਜਬ ਉਘਰੈਗੋ ਪਾਜ ॥੩॥ |
| thab jaanahugae jab ougharaigo paaj ||3|| |
| But you shall know, when your own false covering is laid bare. ||3|| |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਪਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥ |
| kahu kabeer path har paravaan || |
| Says Kabeer, honor is that which is accepted by the Lord. |

| ਸਰਬ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਭਜੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਰਾਮੁ ॥੪॥੩॥ |
| sarab thiaag bhaj kaeval raam ||4||3|| |
| Give up everything - meditate, vibrate upon the Lord alone. ||4||3|| |

| If Yoga could be obtained by wandering around naked, |

| ਬਨ ਕਾ ਮਿਰਗੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਗੁ ॥੧॥ |
| ban kaa mirag mukath sabh hog ||1|| |
| then all the deer of the forest would be liberated. ||1|| |
|
| ਕਿਆ ਨਾਗੇ ਕਿਆ ਬਾਧੇ ਚਾਮ ॥ |
| kiaa naagae kiaa baadhhae chaam || |
| What does it matter whether someone goes naked, or wears a deer skin, |
|
| ਜਬ ਨਹੀ ਚੀਨਸਿ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jab nehee cheenas aatham raam ||1|| rehaao || |
| if he does not remember the Lord within his soul? ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮੂਡ ਮੁੰਡਾਏ ਜੌ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| moodd munddaaeae ja sidhh paaee || |
| If the spiritual perfection of the Siddhas could be obtained by shaving the head, |

| ਮੁਕਤੀ ਭੇਡ ਨ ਗਈਆ ਕਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| mukathee bhaedd n geeaa kaaee ||2|| |
| then why haven't sheep found liberation? ||2|| |
|
| ਬਿੰਦੁ ਰਾਖਿ ਜੌ ਤਰੀਐ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| bindh raakh ja thareeai bhaaee || |
| If someone could save himself by celibacy, O Siblings of Destiny, |
|
| ਖੁਸਰੈ ਕਿਉ ਨ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| khusarai kio n param gath paaee ||3|| |
| why then haven't eunuchs obtained the state of supreme dignity? ||3|| |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਨਰ ਭਾਈ ॥ |

| Says Kabeer, listen, O men, O Siblings of Destiny: |

| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਨਿ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥੪॥ |

| without the Lord's Name, who has ever found salvation? ||4||4|| |

| ਸੰਧਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਤ ਇਸ੍ਨਾਨੁ ਕਰਾਹੀ ॥ |
| sandhhiaa praath eisaan karaahee || |
| Those who take their ritual baths in the evening and the morning |
|
| ਜਿਉ ਭਏ ਦਾਦੁਰ ਪਾਨੀ ਮਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ |
| jio bheae dhaadhur paanee maahee ||1|| |
| are like the frogs in the water. ||1|| |
|
| ਜਉ ਪੈ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| jo pai raam raam rath naahee || |
| When people do not love the Lord's Name, |
|
| ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੈ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| thae sabh dhharam raae kai jaahee ||1|| rehaao || |
| they must all go to the Righteous Judge of Dharma. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਕਾਇਆ ਰਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਰੂਪ ਰਚਾਹੀ ॥ |
| kaaeiaa rath bahu roop rachaahee || |
| Those who love their bodies and try different looks, |
|
| ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਦਇਆ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਭੀ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨॥ |
| thin ko dhaeiaa supanai bhee naahee ||2|| |
| do not feel compassion, even in dreams. ||2|| |
|
| ਚਾਰਿ ਚਰਨ ਕਹਹਿ ਬਹੁ ਆਗਰ ॥ |
| chaar charan kehehi bahu aagar || |
| The wise men call them four-footed creatures; |
|
| ਸਾਧੂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਕਲਿ ਸਾਗਰ ॥੩॥ |
| saadhhoo sukh paavehi kal saagar ||3|| |
| the Holy find peace in this ocean of pain. ||3|| |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਬਹੁ ਕਾਇ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥ |
| kahu kabeer bahu kaae kareejai || |
| Says Kabeer, why do you perform so many rituals? |
|
| ਸਰਬਸੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੪॥੫॥ |
| sarabas shhodd mehaa ras peejai ||4||5|| |
| Renounce everything, and drink in the supreme essence of the Lord. ||4||5|| |

| What use is chanting, and what use is penance, fasting or devotional worship, |
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਭਾਉ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥ |
| jaa kai ridhai bhaao hai dhoojaa ||1|| |
| to one whose heart is filled with the love of duality? ||1|| |
