| ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਂਗਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ਆਵੈ ॥ |
| sukh maangath dhukh aagai aavai || |
| People beg for pleasure, but pain comes instead. |

| ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਮਹੁ ਨ ਮਾਂਗਿਆ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
| so sukh hamahu n maangiaa bhaavai ||1|| |
| I would rather not beg for that pleasure. ||1|| |
|
| ਬਿਖਿਆ ਅਜਹੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਖ ਆਸਾ ॥ |
| bikhiaa ajahu surath sukh aasaa || |
| People are involved in corruption, but still, they hope for pleasure. |
|
| ਕੈਸੇ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kaisae hoee hai raajaa raam nivaasaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| How will they find their home in the Sovereign Lord King? ||1||Pause|| |

| ਇਸੁ ਸੁਖ ਤੇ ਸਿਵ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਡਰਾਨਾ ॥ |
| eis sukh thae siv breham ddaraanaa || |
| Even Shiva and Brahma are afraid of this pleasure, |
|
| ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਮਹੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੨॥ |
| so sukh hamahu saach kar jaanaa ||2|| |
| but I have judged that pleasure to be true. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕ ਨਾਰਦ ਮੁਨਿ ਸੇਖਾ ॥ |
| sanakaadhik naaradh mun saekhaa || |
| Even sages like Sanak and Naarad, and the thousand-headed serpent, |
|
| ਤਿਨ ਭੀ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਪੇਖਾ ॥੩॥ |
| thin bhee than mehi man nehee paekhaa ||3|| |
| did not see the mind within the body. ||3|| |
|
| ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| eis man ko koee khojahu bhaaee || |
| Anyone can search for this mind, O Siblings of Destiny. |
|
| ਤਨ ਛੂਟੇ ਮਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੪॥ |
| than shhoottae man kehaa samaaee ||4|| |
| When it escapes from the body, where does the mind go? ||4|| |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੈਦੇਉ ਨਾਮਾਂ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee jaidhaeo naamaan || |
| By Guru's Grace, Jai Dayv and Naam Dayv |

| ਭਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਇਨ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੫॥ |
| bhagath kai praem ein hee hai jaanaan ||5|| |
| came to know this, through loving devotional worship of the Lord. ||5|| |
|
| ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਨਹੀ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨਾ ॥ |
| eis man ko nehee aavan jaanaa || |
| This mind does not come or go. |
|
| ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੬॥ |
| jis kaa bharam gaeiaa thin saach pashhaanaa ||6|| |
| One whose doubt is dispelled, knows the Truth. ||6|| |
|
| ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਕਾਈ ॥ |
| eis man ko roop n raekhiaa kaaee || |
| This mind has no form or outline. |
|
| ਹੁਕਮੇ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੭॥ |
| hukamae hoeiaa hukam boojh samaaee ||7|| |
| By God's Command it was created; understanding God's Command, it will be absorbed into Him again. ||7|| |
|
| ਇਸ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਨੈ ਭੇਉ ॥ |
| eis man kaa koee jaanai bhaeo || |
| Does anyone know the secret of this mind? |
|
| ਇਹ ਮਨਿ ਲੀਣ ਭਏ ਸੁਖਦੇਉ ॥੮॥ |
| eih man leen bheae sukhadhaeo ||8|| |
| This mind shall merge into the Lord, the Giver of peace and pleasure. ||8|| |
|
| ਜੀਉ ਏਕੁ ਅਰੁ ਸਗਲ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥ |
| jeeo eaek ar sagal sareeraa || |
| There is One Soul, and it pervades all bodies. |
|
| ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ਕਬੀਰਾ ॥੯॥੧॥੩੬॥ |
| eis man ko rav rehae kabeeraa ||9||1||36|| |
| Kabeer dwells upon this Mind. ||9||1||36|| |

| Those who are awake to the One Name, day and night |

| ਕੇਤਕ ਸਿਧ ਭਏ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| kaethak sidhh bheae liv laagae ||1|| rehaao || |
| - many of them have become Siddhas - perfect spiritual beings - with their consciousness attuned to the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਾਧਕ ਸਿਧ ਸਗਲ ਮੁਨਿ ਹਾਰੇ ॥ |
| saadhhak sidhh sagal mun haarae || |
| The seekers, the Siddhas and the silent sages have all lost the game. |
|
| ਏਕ ਨਾਮ ਕਲਿਪ ਤਰ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ |
| eaek naam kalip thar thaarae ||1|| |
| The One Name is the wish-fulfilling Elysian Tree, which saves them and carries them across. ||1|| |

| ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਹਿ ਨ ਆਨਾ ॥ |
| jo har harae s hohi n aanaa || |
| Those who are rejuvenated by the Lord, do not belong to any other. |
|
| ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੨॥੩੭॥ |
| kehi kabeer raam naam pashhaanaa ||2||37|| |
| Says Kabeer, they realize the Name of the Lord. ||2||37|| |

| ਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਨਿਲਜ ਲਾਜ ਤ+ਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| rae jeea nilaj laaj thuohi naahee || |
| O shameless being, don't you feel ashamed? |

| ਹਰਿ ਤਜਿ ਕਤ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੇ ਜਾਂਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har thaj kath kaahoo kae jaanhee ||1|| rehaao || |
| You have forsaken the Lord - now where will you go? Unto whom will you turn? ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਾ ਕੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| jaa ko thaakur oochaa hoee || |
| One whose Lord and Master is the highest and most exalted |
|
| ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰ ਘਰ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਸੋਹੀ ॥੧॥ |
| so jan par ghar jaath n sohee ||1|| |
| - it is not proper for him to go to the house of another. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥ |
| so saahib rehiaa bharapoor || |
| That Lord and Master is pervading everywhere. |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ॥੨॥ |
| sadhaa sang naahee har dhoor ||2|| |
| The Lord is always with us; He is never far away. ||2|| |
|
| ਕਵਲਾ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ॥ |
| kavalaa charan saran hai jaa kae || |
| Even Maya takes to the Sanctuary of His Lotus Feet. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰ ਤਾ ਕੇ ॥੩॥ |
| kahu jan kaa naahee ghar thaa kae ||3|| |
| Tell me, what is there which is not in His home? ||3|| |
|
| ਸਭੁ ਕੋਊ ਕਹੈ ਜਾਸੁ ਕੀ ਬਾਤਾ ॥ |
| sabh kooo kehai jaas kee baathaa || |
| Everyone speaks of Him; He is All-powerful. |
|
| ਸੋ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥੁ ਨਿਜ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਦਾਤਾ ॥੪॥ |
| so sanmrathh nij path hai dhaathaa ||4|| |
| He is His Own Master; He is the Giver. ||4|| |
|
| ਕਹੈ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਜਗ ਸੋਈ ॥ |
| kehai kabeer pooran jag soee || |
| Says Kabeer, he alone is perfect in this world, |
|
| ਕਉਨੁ ਕੋ ਪੂਤੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਾ ਕੋ ॥ |
| koun ko pooth pithaa ko kaa ko || |
| Whose son is he? Whose father is he? |
|
| ਕਉਨੁ ਮਰੈ ਕੋ ਦੇਇ ਸੰਤਾਪੋ ॥੧॥ |
| koun marai ko dhaee santhaapo ||1|| |
| Who dies? Who inflicts pain? ||1|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਠਗ ਜਗ ਕਉ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਲਾਈ ॥ |
| har thag jag ko thagouree laaee || |
| The Lord is the thug, who has drugged and robbed the whole world. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਬਿਓਗ ਕੈਸੇ ਜੀਅਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| har kae bioug kaisae jeeao maeree maaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am separated from the Lord; how can I survive, O my mother? ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਕਉਨ ਕੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਕਉਨ ਕੀ ਨਾਰੀ ॥ |
| koun ko purakh koun kee naaree || |
| Whose husband is he? Whose wife is she? |
|
| ਇਆ ਤਤ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰ ਬਿਚਾਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| eiaa thath laehu sareer bichaaree ||2|| |
| Contemplate this reality within your body. ||2|| |
|
| ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਠਗ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥ |
| kehi kabeer thag sio man maaniaa || |
| Says Kabeer, my mind is pleased and satisfied with the thug. |
|
| ਗਈ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਠਗੁ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥੩੯॥ |
| gee thagouree thag pehichaaniaa ||3||39|| |
| The effects of the drug have vanished, since I recognized the thug. ||3||39|| |
|
| ਅਬ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਾਮ ਸਹਾਈ ॥ |
| ab mo ko bheae raajaa raam sehaaee || |
| Now, the Lord, my King, has become my help and support. |
|
| ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਟਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| janam maran katt param gath paaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| I have cut away birth and death, and attained the supreme status. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀਓ ਰਲਾਇ ॥ |
| saadhhoo sangath dheeou ralaae || |
| He has united me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. |
