| ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਉ ॥ |
| ho anadhin har naam keerathan karo || |
| Night and day, I sing the Kirtan, the Praises of the Name of the Lord. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਤਾਇਆ ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sathigur mo ko har naam bathaaeiaa ho har bin khin pal rehi n sako ||1|| rehaao || |
| The True Guru has revealed to me the Name of the Lord; without the Lord, I cannot live, for a moment, even an instant. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਹਮਰੈ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੁ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਹਉ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ॥ |
| hamarai sravan simaran har keerathan ho har bin rehi n sako ho eik khin || |
| My ears hear the Lord's Kirtan, and I contemplate Him; without the Lord, I cannot live, even for an instant. |

| ਜੈਸੇ ਹੰਸੁ ਸਰਵਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਿਨੁ ॥੧॥ |
| jaisae hans saravar bin rehi n sakai thaisae har jan kio rehai har saevaa bin ||1|| |
| As the swan cannot live without the lake, how can the Lord's slave live without serving Him? ||1|| |

| ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਰਿਦ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਮੋਹ ਅਪਮਾਨ ॥ |
| kinehoon preeth laaee dhoojaa bhaao ridh dhhaar kinehoon preeth laaee moh apamaan || |
| Some enshrine love for duality in their hearts, and some pledge love for worldly attachments and ego. |

| ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਬਾਣ ਪਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨॥੧੪॥੬੬॥ |
| har jan preeth laaee har nirabaan padh naanak simarath har har bhagavaan ||2||14||66|| |
| The Lord's servant embraces love for the Lord and the state of Nirvaanaa; Nanak contemplates the Lord, the Lord God. ||2||14||66|| |

| ਮਾਈ ਮੋਰੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥ |
| maaee moro preetham raam bathaavahu ree maaee || |
| O mother, my mother, tell me about my Beloved Lord. |

| ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਕਰਹਲੁ ਬੇਲਿ ਰੀਝਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ho har bin khin pal rehi n sako jaisae karehal bael reejhaaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| Without the Lord, I cannot live for a moment, even an instant; I love Him, like the camel loves the vine. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਹਮਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਬਿਰਕਤੁ ਭਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੀਤ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥ |
| hamaraa man bairaag birakath bhaeiou har dharasan meeth kai thaaee || |
| My mind has become sad and distant, longing for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, my Friend. |

| ਰਾਖੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਗਦੀਸੁਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥ |
| raakh saran jagadheesur piaarae mohi saradhhaa poor har gusaaee || |
| Keep me under Your Protection, O Beloved Master of the Universe; fulfill my faith, O Lord of the World. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਹੋਤ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਿਮਖ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੨॥੩੯॥੧੩॥੧੫॥੬੭॥ |
| jan naanak kai man anadh hoth hai har dharasan nimakh dhikhaaee ||2||39||13||15||67|| |

| ਜਿਨਿ ਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸੋਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਖਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jin laaee preeth soee fir khaaeiaa || |
| One who loves her, is ultimately devoured. |
|
| ਜਿਨਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਬੈਠਾਲੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਉ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jin sukh baithaalee this bho bahuth dhikhaaeiaa || |
| One who seats her in comfort, is totally terrified by her. |
|
| ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਿਬਾਦੇ ॥ |
| bhaaee meeth kuttanb dhaekh bibaadhae || |
| Siblings, friends and family, beholding her, argue. |
|
| ਹਮ ਆਈ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੇ ॥੧॥ |
| ham aaee vasagath gur parasaadhae ||1|| |
| But she has come under my control, by Guru's Grace. ||1|| |
|
| ਐਸਾ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਿਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋਏ ॥ |
| aisaa dhaekh bimohith hoeae || |
| Beholding her, all are bewitched: |

| ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਸੁਰਦੇਵ ਮਨੁਖਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਭਿ ਧ੍ਰੋਹਨਿ ਧ੍ਰੋਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| saadhhik sidhh suradhaev manukhaa bin saadhhoo sabh dhhrohan dhhrohae ||1|| rehaao || |
| the strivers, the Siddhas, the demi-gods, angels and mortals. All, except the Saadhus, are deceived by her deception. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਇਕਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਾਮਿ ਵਿਆਪੈ ॥ |
| eik firehi oudhaasee thinh kaam viaapai || |
| Some wander around as renunciates, but they are engrossed in sexual desire. |
|
| ਇਕਿ ਸੰਚਹਿ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਆਪੈ ॥ |
| eik sanchehi girehee thinh hoe n aapai || |
| Some grow rich as householders, but she does not belong to them. |
|
| ਇਕਿ ਸਤੀ ਕਹਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਲਪਾਵੈ ॥ |
| eik sathee kehaavehi thinh bahuth kalapaavai || |
| Some call themselves men of charity, and she torments them terribly. |
|
| ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਲਗਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ |
| ham har raakhae lag sathigur paavai ||2|| |
| The Lord has saved me, by attaching me to the Feet of the True Guru. ||2|| |
|
| ਤਪੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਤਪਸੀ ਭੂਲਾਏ ॥ |
| thap karathae thapasee bhoolaaeae || |
| She leads astray the penitents who practice penance. |
|
| ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮੋਹੇ ਲੋਭਿ ਸਬਾਏ ॥ |
| panddith mohae lobh sabaaeae || |
| The scholarly Pandits are all seduced by greed. |
|
| ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮੋਹੇ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥ |
| thrai gun mohae mohiaa aakaas || |
| The world of the three qualities is enticed, and the heavens are enticed. |
|
| ਹਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਰਾਖੇ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ॥੩॥ |
| ham sathigur raakhae dhae kar haathh ||3|| |
| The True Guru has saved me, by giving me His Hand. ||3|| |
|
| ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਵਰਤੀ ਦਾਸਿ ॥ |
| giaanee kee hoe varathee dhaas || |
| She is the slave of those who are spiritually wise. |
|
| ਕਰ ਜੋੜੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥ |
| kar jorrae saevaa karae aradhaas || |
| With her palms pressed together, she serves them and offers her prayer: |
|
| ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਕਹਹਿ ਸੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਾ ॥ |
| jo thoon kehehi s kaar kamaavaa || |
| "Whatever you wish, that is what I shall do." |
|
| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
| jan naanak guramukh naerr n aavaa ||4||1|| |
| O servant Nanak, she does not draw near to the Gurmukh. ||4||1|| |

| Aasaa, Fifth Mehl: |

| ਸਸੂ ਤੇ ਪਿਰਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਵਾਖਿ ॥ |
| sasoo thae pir keenee vaakh || |
| I have been separated from my Beloved by Maya (my mother-in-law). |
|
| ਦੇਰ ਜਿਠਾਣੀ ਮੁਈ ਦੂਖਿ ਸੰਤਾਪਿ ॥ |
| dhaer jithaanee muee dhookh santhaap || |
| Hope and desire (my younger brother-in-law and sister-in-law) are dying of grief. |
|
| ਘਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਠੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ॥ |
| ghar kae jithaerae kee chookee kaan || |
| I am no longer swayed by the fear of Death (my elder brother-in-law). |
|
| ਪਿਰਿ ਰਖਿਆ ਕੀਨੀ ਸੁਘੜ ਸੁਜਾਣਿ ॥੧॥ |
| pir rakhiaa keenee sugharr sujaan ||1|| |
| I am protected by my All-knowing, Wise Husband Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੁਨਹੁ ਲੋਕਾ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sunahu lokaa mai praem ras paaeiaa || |
| Listen, O people: I have tasted the elixir of love. |
|
| ਦੁਰਜਨ ਮਾਰੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਸੰਘਾਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| dhurajan maarae vairee sanghaarae sathigur mo ko har naam dhivaaeiaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| The evil ones are dead, and my enemies are destroyed. The True Guru has given me the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥ |
| prathhamae thiaagee houmai preeth || |
| First, I renounced my egotistical love of myself. |
|
| ਦੁਤੀਆ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਲੋਗਾ ਰੀਤਿ ॥ |
| dhutheeaa thiaagee logaa reeth || |
| Second, I renounced the ways of the world. |
|
| ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਮੀਤ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥ |
| thrai gun thiaag dhurajan meeth samaanae || |
| Renouncing the three qualities, I look alike upon friend and enemy. |
|
| ਤੁਰੀਆ ਗੁਣੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਪਛਾਨੇ ॥੨॥ |
| thureeaa gun mil saadhh pashhaanae ||2|| |
| And then, the fourth state of bliss was revealed to me by the Holy One. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਹਜ ਗੁਫਾ ਮਹਿ ਆਸਣੁ ਬਾਧਿਆ ॥ |
| sehaj gufaa mehi aasan baadhhiaa || |
| In the cave of celestial bliss, I have obtained a seat. |
|
| ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪ ਅਨਾਹਦੁ ਵਾਜਿਆ ॥ |
| joth saroop anaahadh vaajiaa || |
| The Lord of Light plays the unstruck melody of bliss. |
|
| ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ |
| mehaa anandh gur sabadh veechaar || |
| I am in ecstasy, contemplating the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤੀ ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੩॥ |
| pria sio raathee dhhan sohaagan naar ||3|| |
| Imbued with my Beloved Husband Lord, I am the blessed, happy soul-bride. ||3|| |
