| ਜਿਤੁ ਦਰਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹੈ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਜਾਣਾ ॥ |
| jith dhar thumh hai braahaman jaanaa || |
| That door, through which you must ultimately go, O Brahmin |

| ਤਿਤੁ ਦਰਿ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਹੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ |
| thith dhar thoonhee hai pashhuthaanaa ||1|| |
| - at that door, you will come to regret and repent. ||1|| |
|
| ਐਸੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਡੂਬੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| aisae braahaman ddoobae bhaaee || |
| Such Brahmins shall drown, O Siblings of Destiny; |
|
| ਨਿਰਾਪਰਾਧ ਚਿਤਵਹਿ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| niraaparaadhh chithavehi buriaaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| they think of doing evil to the innocent. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਹਲਕਾਏ ॥ |
| anthar lobh firehi halakaaeae || |
| Within them is greed, and they wander around like mad dogs. |
|
| ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਏ ॥ |
| nindhaa karehi sir bhaar outhaaeae || |
| They slander others and carry loads of sin upon their heads. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੂਠਾ ਚੇਤੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| maaeiaa moothaa chaethai naahee || |
| Intoxicated by Maya, they do not think of the Lord. |
|
| ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਰਾਹੀ ॥੨॥ |
| bharamae bhoolaa bahuthee raahee ||2|| |
| Deluded by doubt, they wander off on many paths. ||2|| |
|
| ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥ |
| baahar bhaekh karehi ghanaerae || |
| Outwardly, they wear various religious robes, |
|
| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਉਤਰੀ ਘੇਰੇ ॥ |
| anthar bikhiaa outharee ghaerae || |
| but within, they are enveloped by poison. |
|
| ਅਵਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਆਪਿ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ॥ |
| avar oupadhaesai aap n boojhai || |
| They instruct others, but do not understand themselves. |
|
| ਐਸਾ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਸੀਝੈ ॥੩॥ |
| aisaa braahaman kehee n seejhai ||3|| |
| Such Brahmins will never be emancipated. ||3|| |
|
| ਮੂਰਖ ਬਾਮਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ |
| moorakh baaman prabhoo samaal || |
| O foolish Brahmin, reflect upon God. |
|
| ਦੇਖਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਤੇਰੈ ਹੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ |
| dhaekhath sunath thaerai hai naal || |
| He watches and hears, and is always with you. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੇ ਹੋਵੀ ਭਾਗੁ ॥ |
| kahu naanak jae hovee bhaag || |
| Says Nanak, if this is your destiny, |
|
| ਮਾਨੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੪॥੮॥ |
| maan shhodd gur charanee laag ||4||8|| |
| renounce your pride, and grasp the Guru's Feet. ||4||8|| |

| ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਗਤੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥ |
| dhookh rog bheae gath than thae man niramal har har gun gaae || |
| Pain and disease have left my body, and my mind has become pure; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. |

| ਭਏ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਬ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| bheae anandh mil saadhhoo sang ab maeraa man kath hee n jaae ||1|| |
| I am in bliss, meeting with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and now, my mind does not go wandering. ||1|| |

| ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਾਇ ॥ |
| thapath bujhee gur sabadhee maae || |
| My burning desires are quenched, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, O mother. |

| ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਇਓ ਤਾਪ ਸਭ ਸਹਸਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| binas gaeiou thaap sabh sehasaa gur seethal miliou sehaj subhaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| The fever of doubt has been totally eliminated; meeting the Guru, I am cooled and soothed, with intuitive ease. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਧਾਵਤ ਰਹੇ ਏਕੁ ਇਕੁ ਬੂਝਿਆ ਆਇ ਬਸੇ ਅਬ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਥਾਇ ॥ |
| dhhaavath rehae eaek eik boojhiaa aae basae ab nihachal thhaae || |
| My wandering has ended, since I have realized the One and Only Lord; now, I have come to dwell in the eternal place. |

| ਜਗਤੁ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਸੰਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪੇਖਤ ਰਹੇ ਅਘਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| jagath oudhhaaran santh thumaarae dharasan paekhath rehae aghaae ||2|| |
| Your Saints are the Saving Grace of the world; beholding the Blessed Vision of their Darshan, I remain satisfied. ||2|| |

| ਜਨਮ ਦੋਖ ਪਰੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਾਛੈ ਅਬ ਪਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| janam dhokh parae maerae paashhai ab pakarae nihachal saadhhoo paae || |
| I have left behind the sins of countless incarnations, now that I have grasped the feet of the eternal Holy Guru. |

| ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਮੰਗਲ ਮਨੂਆ |
| sehaj dhhun gaavai mangal manooaa || |
| My mind sings the celestial melody of bliss, |
|
| ਅਬ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਫੁਨਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
| ab thaa ko fun kaal n khaae ||3|| |
| and death shall no longer consume it. ||3|| |
|
| ਕਰਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਸਮਰਥ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥ |
| karan kaaran samarathh hamaarae sukhadhaaee maerae har har raae || |
| My Lord, the Cause of all causes, is All-powerful, the Giver of peace; He is my Lord, my Lord King. |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੪॥੯॥ |
| naam thaeraa jap jeevai naanak outh poth maerai sang sehaae ||4||9|| |
| Nanak lives by chanting Your Name, O Lord; You are my helper, with me, through and through. ||4||9|| |

| The slanderer cries out and bewails. |

| ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਬਿਸਰਿਆ ਅਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਵੈ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| paarabreham paramaesar bisariaa apanaa keethaa paavai nindhak ||1|| rehaao || |
| He has forgotten the Supreme Lord, the Transcendent Lord; the slanderer reaps the rewards of his own actions. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਲੇ ਲਏ ਸਿਧਾਵੈ ॥ |
| jae koee ous kaa sangee hovai naalae leae sidhhaavai || |
| If someone is his companion, then he shall be taken along with him. |
|
| ਅਣਹੋਦਾ ਅਜਗਰੁ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਏ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਜਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ |
| anehodhaa ajagar bhaar outhaaeae nindhak aganee maahi jalaavai ||1|| |
| Like the dragon, the slanderer carries his huge, useless loads, and burns in his own fire. ||1|| |

| ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਕੈ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਜਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਤੀਤੈ ਸੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥ |
| paramaesar kai dhuaarai j hoe bitheethai s naanak aakh sunaavai || |
| Nanak proclaims and announces what happens at the Door of the Transcendent Lord. |

| ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਇ ਬਿਗਸਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੧੦॥ |
| bhagath janaa ko sadhaa anandh hai har keerathan gaae bigasaavai ||2||10|| |
| The humble devotees of the Lord are forever in bliss; singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, they blossom forth. ||2||10|| |

| ਜਉ ਮੈ ਕੀਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੀਗਾਰਾ ॥ |
| jo mai keeou sagal seegaaraa || |
| Even though I totally decorated myself, |
|
| ਤਉ ਭੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਪਤੀਆਰਾ ॥ |
| tho bhee maeraa man n patheeaaraa || |
| still, my mind was not satisfied. |
|
| ਅਨਿਕ ਸੁਗੰਧਤ ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਵਉ ॥ |
| anik sugandhhath than mehi laavo || |
| I applied various scented oils to my body, |
|
| ਓਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਵਉ ॥ |
| ouhu sukh thil samaan nehee paavo || |
| and yet, I did not obtain even a tiny bit of pleasure from this. |
|
| ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਐਸੀ ਆਸਾਈ ॥ |
| man mehi chithavo aisee aasaaee || |
| Within my mind, I hold such a desire, |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਦੇਖਤ ਜੀਵਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| pria dhaekhath jeevo maeree maaee ||1|| |
| that I may live only to behold my Beloved, O my mother. ||1|| |
|
| ਮਾਈ ਕਹਾ ਕਰਉ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨ ਧੀਰੈ ॥ |
| maaee kehaa karo eihu man n dhheerai || |
| O mother, what should I do? This mind cannot rest. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਹਿਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| It is bewitched by the tender love of my Beloved. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਭੂਖਨ ਸੁਖ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਿਸੇਖੈ ॥ |
| basathr bibhookhan sukh bahuth bisaekhai || |
| Garments, ornaments, and such exquisite pleasures |
|
| ਓਇ ਭੀ ਜਾਨਉ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਲੇਖੈ ॥ |
| oue bhee jaano kithai n laekhai || |
| I look upon these as of no account. |
|
| ਪਤਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਅਰੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਹਤੁ ॥ |
| path sobhaa ar maan mehath || |
| Likewise, honor, fame, dignity and greatness, |
|
| ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਸਗਲ ਜਗਤੁ ॥ |
| aagiaakaaree sagal jagath || |
| obedience by the whole world, |
|
| ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਐਸਾ ਹੈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਲਾਲ ॥ |
| grihu aisaa hai sundhar laal || |
| and a household as beautiful as a jewel. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਾ ਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੨॥ |
| prabh bhaavaa thaa sadhaa nihaal ||2|| |
| If I am pleasing to God's Will, then I shall be blessed, and forever in bliss. ||2|| |
