| Without the Lord's Name, everything else is useless. |

| My mind is satisfied and satiated by the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||1||Pause|| |

| bhagath bhanddaar gurabaanee laal || |
| Gurbani is the jewel, the treasure of devotion. |

| ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਕਮਾਵਤ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੨॥ |
| gaavath sunath kamaavath nihaal ||2|| |
| Singing, hearing and acting upon it, one is enraptured. ||2|| |

| ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| charan kamal sio laago maan || |
| My mind is attached to the Lord's Lotus Feet. |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਤੂਠੈ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੩॥ |
| sathigur thoothai keeno dhaan ||3|| |
| The True Guru, in His Pleasure, has given this gift. ||3|| |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਖਿਆ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ॥ |

| Unto Nanak, the Guru has revealed these instructions: |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ॥੪॥੨੩॥ |
| prabh abinaasee ghatt ghatt cheenh ||4||23|| |
| recognize the Imperishable Lord God in each and every heart. ||4||23|| |

| The All-pervading Lord has established joys and celebrations. |
|
| ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| apunaa kaaraj aap savaariaa ||1|| |
| He Himself embellishes His own works. ||1|| |
|
| ਪੂਰ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਪੂਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੀ ॥ |

| Perfect is the Creation of the Perfect Lord Master. |

| ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਸੋਭ ਜਾ ਕੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| His magnificent greatness is totally all-pervading. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| naam nidhhaan jaa kee niramal soe || |
| His Name is the treasure; His reputation is immaculate. |

| ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥ |
| aapae karathaa avar n koe ||2|| |
| He Himself is the Creator; there is no other. ||2|| |
|
| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ॥ |
| jeea janth sabh thaa kai haathh || |
| All beings and creatures are in His Hands. |
|
| ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥ |
| pooraa gur pooree banath banaaee || |
| The Perfect Guru has fashioned His perfect fashion. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੪॥੨੪॥ |

| O Nanak, the Lord's devotees are blessed with glorious greatness. ||4||24|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ॥੧॥ |
| gur kaa dharasan sanchahu har dhhan ||1|| |
| Beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan, I have gathered the wealth of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਊਤਮ ਮਤਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਤੂੰ ਆਉ ॥ |
| ootham math maerai ridhai thoon aao || |
| O sublime understanding, come, enter into my mind, |

| ਧਿਆਵਉ ਗਾਵਉ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ਅਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮੋਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| dhhiaavo gaavo gun govindhaa ath preetham mohi laagai naao ||1|| rehaao || |
| that I may meditate and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, and love so dearly the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਵਨੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ॥ |

| I am satisfied and satiated by the True Name. |

| My cleansing bath at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage is the dust of the Saints. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਨਉ ਕਰਤਾ ਏਕ ॥ |
| sabh mehi jaano karathaa eaek || |
| I recognize that the One Creator is contained in all. |
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥੩॥ |
| saadhhasangath mil budhh bibaek ||3|| |
| Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, my understanding is refined. ||3|| |
|
| ਦਾਸੁ ਸਗਲ ਕਾ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| dhaas sagal kaa shhodd abhimaan || |
| I have become the servant of all; I have renounced my ego and pride. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੨੫॥ |
| naanak ko gur dheeno dhaan ||4||25|| |
| The Guru has given this gift to Nanak. ||4||25|| |

| ਬੁਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਭਈ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ॥ |
| budhh pragaas bhee math pooree || |
| My intellect has been enlightened, and my understanding is perfect. |

| ਤਾ ਤੇ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| thaa thae binasee dhuramath dhooree ||1|| |
| Thus my evil-mindedness, which kept me far from Him, has been removed. ||1|| |

| ਐਸੀ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਈਅਲੇ ॥ |
| aisee guramath paaeealae || |
| Such are the Teachings which I have received from the Guru; |

| ਬੂਡਤ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਮਹਿ ਨਿਕਸਿਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| while I was drowning in the pitch black well, I was saved, O my Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮਹਾ ਅਗਾਹ ਅਗਨਿ ਕਾ ਸਾਗਰੁ ॥ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਰਤਨਾਗਰੁ ॥੨॥ |
| mehaa agaah agan kaa saagar || gur bohithh thaarae rathanaagar ||2|| |
| The Guru is the boat to cross over the totally unfathomable ocean of fire; He is treasure of jewels. ||2|| |
|
| ਦੁਤਰ ਅੰਧ ਬਿਖਮ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| dhuthar andhh bikham eih maaeiaa || |
| This ocean of Maya is dark and treacherous. |
|
| ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| gur poorai paragatt maarag dhikhaaeiaa ||3|| |
| The Perfect Guru has revealed the way to cross over it. ||3|| |

| ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਕਛੁ ਉਕਤਿ ਨ ਮੋਰੀ ॥ |
| jaap thaap kashh oukath n moree || |
| I do not have the ability to chant or practice intense meditation. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਤੋਰੀ ॥੪॥੨੬॥ |
| gur naanak saranaagath thoree ||4||26|| |
| Guru Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. ||4||26|| |

| One who drinks in the Lord's sublime essence is forever imbued with it |
|
| ਆਨ ਰਸਾ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ |
| aan rasaa khin mehi lehi jaathaa || |
| while other essences wear off in an instant. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਕੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਮਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ॥ |
| har ras kae maathae man sadhaa anandh || |
| Intoxicated with the Lord's sublime essence, the mind is forever in ecstasy. |
|
| ਆਨ ਰਸਾ ਮਹਿ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਚਿੰਦ ॥੧॥ |
| aan rasaa mehi viaapai chindh ||1|| |
| Other essences bring only anxiety. ||1|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਅਲਮਸਤੁ ਮਤਵਾਰਾ ॥ |
| har ras peevai alamasath mathavaaraa || |
| One who drinks in the Lord's sublime essence, is intoxicated and enraptured; |
|
| ਆਨ ਰਸਾ ਸਭਿ ਹੋਛੇ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| aan rasaa sabh hoshhae rae ||1|| rehaao || |
| all other essences have no effect. ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| har ras kee keemath kehee n jaae || |
| The value of the Lord's sublime essence cannot be described. |
|
| ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਹਾਟਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ |
| har ras saadhhoo haatt samaae || |
| The Lord's sublime essence permeates the homes of the Holy. |
|
| ਲਾਖ ਕਰੋਰੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਨ ਕੇਹ ॥ |
| laakh karoree milai n kaeh || |
| One may spend thousands and millions, but it cannot be purchased. |
|
| ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਦੇਹਿ ॥੨॥ |
| jisehi paraapath this hee dhaehi ||2|| |
| He alone obtains it, who is so pre-ordained. ||2|| |
