| naanak chaakh bheae bisamaadh || |
| Tasting it, Nanak is wonder-struck. |

| naanak gur thae aaeiaa saadh || |
| Through the Guru, Nanak has obtained this taste. |

| ਈਤ ਊਤ ਕਤ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| eeth ooth kath shhodd n jaae || |
| Here and hereafter, it does not leave him. |

| naanak geedhhaa har ras maahi ||3||27|| |
| Nanak is imbued and enraptured with the Lord's subtle essence. ||3||27|| |

| ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ਛੁਟਕੈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ |
| kaam krodhh lobh mohu mittaavai shhuttakai dhuramath apunee dhhaaree || |
| If she renounces and eliminates her sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment, and her evil-mindedness and self-conceit as well; |
|
| ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| hoe nimaanee saev kamaavehi thaa preetham hovehi man piaaree ||1|| |
| and if, becoming humble, she serves Him, then she becomes dear to her Beloved's Heart. ||1|| |

| ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਬਚਨ ਉਧਾਰੀ ॥ |
| sun sundhar saadhhoo bachan oudhhaaree || |
| Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved. |

| ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਮਿਟੈ ਤੇਰੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਖਮਨਿ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| dhookh bhookh mittai thaero sehasaa sukh paavehi thoon sukhaman naaree ||1|| rehaao || |
| Your pain, hunger and doubt shall vanish, and you shall obtain peace, O happy soul-bride. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਚਰਣ ਪਖਾਰਿ ਕਰਉ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਆਤਮ ਸੁਧੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਿਆਸ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥ |
| charan pakhaar karo gur saevaa aatham sudhh bikh thiaas nivaaree || |
| Washing the Guru's feet, and serving Him, the soul is sanctified, and the thirst for sin is quenched. |

| ਦਾਸਨ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਦਾਸਿ ਦਾਸਰੀ ਤਾ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰੀ ॥੨॥ |
| dhaasan kee hoe dhaas dhaasaree thaa paavehi sobhaa har dhuaaree ||2|| |
| If you become the slave of the slave of the Lord's slaves, then you shall obtain honor in the Court of the Lord. ||2|| |
|
| ਇਹੀ ਅਚਾਰ ਇਹੀ ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਾਨਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥ |
| eihee achaar eihee biouhaaraa aagiaa maan bhagath hoe thumhaaree || |
| This is right conduct, and this is the correct lifestyle, to obey the Command of the Lord's Will; this is your devotional worship. |

| You have been blessed with this human body. |
|
| ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਮਿਲਣ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥ |
| gobindh milan kee eih thaeree bareeaa || |
| This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe. |
|
| ਅਵਰਿ ਕਾਜ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਕਾਮ ॥ |
| avar kaaj thaerai kithai n kaam || |
| Other efforts are of no use to you. |
|
| ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥ |
| mil saadhhasangath bhaj kaeval naam ||1|| |
| Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, vibrate and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਸਰੰਜਾਮਿ ਲਾਗੁ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਨ ਕੈ ॥ |
| saranjaam laag bhavajal tharan kai || |
| Make the effort, and cross over the terrifying world ocean. |
|
| ਜਨਮੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਜਾਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| janam brithhaa jaath rang maaeiaa kai ||1|| rehaao || |
| This human life is passing away in vain, in the love of Maya. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jap thap sanjam dhharam n kamaaeiaa || |
| I have not practiced meditation, penance, self-restraint or righteous living; |
|
| ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾਧ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥ |
| saevaa saadhh n jaaniaa har raaeiaa || |
| I have not served the Holy Saints, and I do not know the Lord, my King. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਕਰੰਮਾ ॥ |
| kahu naanak ham neech karanmaa || |
| Says Nanak, my actions are vile and despicable; |
|
| ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਮਾ ॥੨॥੨੯॥ |
| saran parae kee raakhahu saramaa ||2||29|| |
| O Lord, I seek Your Sanctuary - please, preserve my honor. ||2||29|| |

| Without You, there is no other for me; You alone are in my mind. |

| ਤੂੰ ਸਾਜਨੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਜੀਅ ਡਰਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ |

| You are my Friend and Companion, God; why should my soul be afraid? ||1|| |

| You are my support, You are my hope. |

| ਬੈਠਤ ਊਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗਤ ਵਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| baithath oothath sovath jaagath visar naahee thoon saas giraasaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| While sitting down or standing up, while sleeping or waking, with every breath and morsel of food, I never forget You. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਵਿਕਰਾਲਾ ॥ |
| raakh raakh saran prabh apanee agan saagar vikaraalaa || |
| Protect me, please protect me, O God; I have come to Your Sanctuary; the ocean of fire is so horrible. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਮ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੨॥੩੦॥ |

| The True Guru is the Giver of peace to Nanak; I am Your child, O Lord of the World. ||2||30|| |

| preetham sio maero man maaniaa thaap muaa bikh khaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| My mind has surrendered to my Beloved; my fever has taken poison and died. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਪਾਲਾ ਤਾਊ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥ |
| paalaa thaaoo kashhoo n biaapai raam naam gun gaae || |
| Cold and heat do not touch me at all, when I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. |

| ਡਾਕੀ ਕੋ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਰਨਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| ddaakee ko chith kashhoo n laagai charan kamal saranaae ||1|| |
| My consciousness is not affected by the witch, Maya; I take to the Sanctuary of the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1|| |

| ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਇ ॥ |
| santh prasaadh bheae kirapaalaa hoeae aap sehaae || |
| By the Grace of the Saints, the Lord has shown His Mercy to me; He Himself is my Help and Support. |

| ਗੁਨ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਿਤਿ ਗਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥੨॥੩੧॥ |
| gun nidhhaan nith gaavai naanak sehasaa dhukh mittaae ||2||31|| |
| Nanak ever sings the Praises of the Lord, the treasure of excellence; his doubts and pains are eliminated. ||2||31|| |

| I have taken the medicine of the Name of the Lord. |

| ਸੁਖ ਪਾਏ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸਿਆ ਥਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| sukh paaeae dhukh binasiaa thhaao ||1|| |
| I have found peace, and the seat of pain has been removed. ||1|| |
|
| ਤਾਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਬਚਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ॥ |
| thaap gaeiaa bachan gur poorae || |
| The fever has been broken, by the Teachings of the Perfect Guru. |
|
| ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਵਿਸੂਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| I am in ecstasy, and all of my sorrows have been dispelled. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |

| All beings and creatures obtain peace, |

| O Nanak, meditating on the Supreme Lord God. ||2||32|| |

| That time, which the mortal does not wish for, eventually comes. |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਕਿਉ ਬੁਝੈ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| bin hukamai kio bujhai bujhaaee ||1|| |
| Without the Lord's Command, how can understanding be understood? ||1|| |
|
| ਠੰਢੀ ਤਾਤੀ ਮਿਟੀ ਖਾਈ ॥ |
| thandtee thaathee mittee khaaee || |
| The body is consumed by water, fire and earth. |
|
| ਓਹੁ ਨ ਬਾਲਾ ਬੂਢਾ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ouhu n baalaa boodtaa bhaaee ||1|| rehaao || |
| But the soul is neither young nor old, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause|| |

| Servant Nanak has entered the Sanctuary of the Holy. |
