| I am pleasing to my Beloved, and so I am imbued with the deep red color. |

| kahu naanak subh dhrisatt nihaal ||4|| |

| I suffered in pain, when I thought He was far away; |

| ਅਬ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ |
| ab masalath mohi milee hadhoor ||1|| |
| but now, He is Ever-present, and I receive His instructions. ||1|| |

| ਚੁਕਾ ਨਿਹੋਰਾ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਰੀ ॥ |
| chukaa nihoraa sakhee sehaeree || |
| My pride is gone, O friends and companions; |

| ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਿਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| bharam gaeiaa gur pir sang maeree ||1|| rehaao || |
| my doubt is dispelled, and the Guru has united me with my Beloved. ||1||Pause|| |

| My Beloved has drawn me near to Him, and seated me on His Bed; |

| ਕਾਣਿ ਕਢਨ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਿ ਪਰੀ ॥੨॥ |

| I have escaped the clutches of others. ||2|| |

| ਮੰਦਰਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਉਜਾਰਾ ॥ |
| mandhar maerai sabadh oujaaraa || |
| In the mansion of my heart, shines the Light of the Shabad. |

| ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦੀ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ |

| My Husband Lord is blissful and playful. ||3|| |

| ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗੁ ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥ |

| According to the destiny written upon my forehead, my Husband Lord has come home to me. |

| My dealings with other people are only superficial. ||1|| |

| ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੂਤੁ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਮਉਲਾ ॥ |

| Outwardly, I am on good terms with all; |

| ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਉਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| alipath reho jaisae jal mehi koulaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| but I remain detached, like the lotus upon the water. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਮੁਖ ਕੀ ਬਾਤ ਸਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਤਾ ॥ |
| mukh kee baath sagal sio karathaa || |
| By word of mouth, I talk with everyone; |

| ਜੀਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਧਰਤਾ ॥੨॥ |
| jeea sang prabh apunaa dhharathaa ||2|| |
| but I keep God clasped to my heart. ||2|| |

| ਦੀਸਿ ਆਵਤ ਹੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਭੀਹਾਲਾ ॥ |
| dhees aavath hai bahuth bheehaalaa || |
| I may appear utterly terrible, |

| ਸਗਲ ਚਰਨ ਕੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਲਾ ॥੩॥ |
| sagal charan kee eihu man raalaa ||3|| |
| but my mind is the dust of all men's feet. |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੫੪॥ |
| anthar baahar eaek dhikhaaeiaa ||4||3||54|| |
| Inwardly and outwardly, He has shown me the One Lord. ||4||3||54|| |

| The mortal revels in joy, in the vigor of youth; |

| ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਾਟੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਲੀਆ ॥੧॥ |
| naam binaa maattee sang raleeaa ||1|| |
| but without the Name, he mingles with dust. ||1|| |

| ਕਾਨ ਕੁੰਡਲੀਆ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਓਢਲੀਆ ॥ |
| kaan kunddaleeaa basathr oudtaleeaa || |
| He may wear ear-rings and fine clothes, |
 |
| ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਲੀਆ ਮਨਿ ਗਰਬਲੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| saej sukhaleeaa man garabaleeaa ||1|| rehaao || |
| and have a comfortable bed, and his mind may be so proud. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਤਲੈ ਕੁੰਚਰੀਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਨਿਕ ਛਤਰੀਆ ॥ |
| thalai kunchareeaa sir kanik shhathareeaa || |
| He may have elephants to ride, and golden umbrellas over his head; |
 |
| ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਲੇ ਧਰਨਿ ਗਡਲੀਆ ॥੨॥ |
| har bhagath binaa lae dhharan gaddaleeaa ||2|| |
| but without devotional worship to the Lord, he is buried beneath the dirt. ||2|| |

| ਰੂਪ ਸੁੰਦਰੀਆ ਅਨਿਕ ਇਸਤਰੀਆ ॥ |
| roop sundhareeaa anik eisathareeaa || |
| He may enjoy many women, of exquisite beauty; |
 |
| ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਆਦ ਫਿਕਰੀਆ ॥੩॥ |
| har ras bin sabh suaadh fikareeaa ||3|| |
| but without the sublime essence of the Lord, all tastes are tasteless. ||3|| |

| ਮਾਇਆ ਛਲੀਆ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਬਿਖਲੀਆ ॥ |
| maaeiaa shhaleeaa bikaar bikhaleeaa || |
| Deluded by Maya, the mortal is led into sin and corruption. |

| There is a garden, in which so many plants have grown. |

| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਹਾ ਮਹਿ ਫਲਿਆ ॥੧॥ |
| anmrith naam thehaa mehi faliaa ||1|| |
| They bear the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam as their fruit. ||1|| |

| ਐਸਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ |
| aisaa karahu beechaar giaanee || |
| Consider this, O wise one, |

| ਜਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥ |
| jaa thae paaeeai padh nirabaanee || |
| by which you may attain the state of Nirvaanaa. |

| ਆਸਿ ਪਾਸਿ ਬਿਖੂਆ ਕੇ ਕੁੰਟਾ ਬੀਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| aas paas bikhooaa kae kunttaa beech anmrith hai bhaaee rae ||1|| rehaao || |
| All around this garden are pools of poison, but within it is the Ambrosial Nectar, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause|| |

| sinchanehaarae eaekai maalee || |
| There is only one gardener who tends it. |

| ਖਬਰਿ ਕਰਤੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਤ ਪਤ ਡਾਲੀ ॥੨॥ |
| khabar karath hai paath path ddaalee ||2|| |
| He takes care of every leaf and branch. ||2|| |
 |
| ਸਗਲ ਬਨਸਪਤਿ ਆਣਿ ਜੜਾਈ ॥ |
| sagal banasapath aan jarraaee || |
| He brings all sorts of plants and plants them there. |
 |
| ਸਗਲੀ ਫੂਲੀ ਨਿਫਲ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| sagalee foolee nifal n kaaee ||3|| |
| They all bear fruit - none is without fruit. ||3|| |

| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
