| ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਤਨ ਕਾ ਦੂਖ ॥ |
| prathhamae mittiaa than kaa dhookh || |
| First, the pains of the body vanish; |

| ਮਨ ਸਗਲ ਕਉ ਹੋਆ ਸੂਖੁ ॥ |
| man sagal ko hoaa sookh || |
| then, the mind becomes totally peaceful. |

| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰ ਦੀਨੋ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| kar kirapaa gur dheeno naao || |
| In His Mercy, the Guru bestows the Lord's Name. |
|
| ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| bal bal this sathigur ko jaao ||1|| |
| I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to that True Guru. ||1|| |
|
| ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| gur pooraa paaeiou maerae bhaaee || |
| I have obtained the Perfect Guru, O my Siblings of Destiny. |
|
| ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਸਭ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| rog sog sabh dhookh binaasae sathigur kee saranaaee || rehaao || |
| All illness, sorrows and sufferings are dispelled, in the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||Pause|| |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ |
| gur kae charan hiradhai vasaaeae || |
| The feet of the Guru abide within my heart; |
|
| ਮਨ ਚਿੰਤਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| man chinthath sagalae fal paaeae || |
| I have received all the fruits of my heart's desires. |
|
| ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਸਭ ਹੋਈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ॥ |
| agan bujhee sabh hoee saanth || |
| The fire is extinguished, and I am totally peaceful. |
|
| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੨॥ |
| kar kirapaa gur keenee dhaath ||2|| |
| Showering His Mercy, the Guru has given this gift. ||2|| |
|
| ਨਿਥਾਵੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਥਾਨੁ ॥ |
| nithhaavae ko gur dheeno thhaan || |
| The Guru has given shelter to the shelterless. |
|
| ਨਿਮਾਨੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥ |
| nimaanae ko gur keeno maan || |
| The Guru has given honor to the dishonored. |
|
| ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥ |
| bandhhan kaatt saevak kar raakhae || |
| Shattering his bonds, the Guru has saved His servant. |
|
| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਨੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਚਾਖੇ ॥੩॥ |
| anmrith baanee rasanaa chaakhae ||3|| |
| I taste with my tongue the Ambrosial Bani of His Word. ||3|| |
|
| ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪੂਜ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨਾ ॥ |
| vaddai bhaag pooj gur charanaa || |
| By great good fortune, I worship the Guru's feet. |
|
| ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਇਆ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੦੦॥ |
| gur naanak jaa ko bhaeiaa dhaeiaalaa || so jan hoaa sadhaa nihaalaa ||4||6||100|| |
| That humble being, O Nanak, unto whom the Guru grants His Mercy, is forever enraptured. ||4||6||100|| |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੈ ਦੀਆ ਭੇਜਿ ॥ |
| sathigur saachai dheeaa bhaej || |
| The True Guru has truly given a child. |
|
| ਚਿਰੁ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ॥ |
| chir jeevan oupajiaa sanjog || |
| The long-lived one has been born to this destiny. |
|
| ਉਦਰੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਆਇ ਕੀਆ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ |
| oudharai maahi aae keeaa nivaas || |
| He came to acquire a home in the womb, |
|
| ਮਾਤਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਗਾਸੁ ॥੧॥ |
| maathaa kai man bahuth bigaas ||1|| |
| and his mother's heart is so very glad. ||1|| |
|
| ਜੰਮਿਆ ਪੂਤੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ॥ |
| janmiaa pooth bhagath govindh kaa || |
| A son is born - a devotee of the Lord of the Universe. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰ ਕਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| pragattiaa sabh mehi likhiaa dhhur kaa || rehaao || |
| This pre-ordained destiny has been revealed to all. ||Pause|| |

| ਦਸੀ ਮਾਸੀ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਬਾਲਕ ਜਨਮੁ ਲੀਆ ॥ |
| dhasee maasee hukam baalak janam leeaa || |
| In the tenth month, by the Lord's Order, the baby has been born. |
|
| ਮਿਟਿਆ ਸੋਗੁ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਥੀਆ ॥ |
| mittiaa sog mehaa anandh thheeaa || |
| Sorrow is dispelled, and great joy has ensued. |
|
| ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸਖੀ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥ |
| gurabaanee sakhee anandh gaavai || |
| The companions blissfully sing the songs of the Guru's Bani. |
|
| ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ |
| saachae saahib kai man bhaavai ||2|| |
| This is pleasing to the Lord Master. ||2|| |
|
| ਵਧੀ ਵੇਲਿ ਬਹੁ ਪੀੜੀ ਚਾਲੀ ॥ |
| vadhhee vael bahu peerree chaalee || |
| The vine has grown, and shall last for many generations. |
|
| ਧਰਮ ਕਲਾ ਹਰਿ ਬੰਧਿ ਬਹਾਲੀ ॥ |
| dhharam kalaa har bandhh behaalee || |
| The Power of the Dharma has been firmly established by the Lord. |
|
| ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ॥ |
| man chindhiaa sathiguroo dhivaaeiaa || |
| That which my mind wishes for, the True Guru has granted. |
|
| ਭਏ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| bheae achinth eaek liv laaeiaa ||3|| |
| I have become carefree, and I fix my attention on the One Lord. ||3|| |
|
| ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਪਿਤਾ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਣੁ ॥ |
| jio baalak pithaa oopar karae bahu maan || |
| As the child places so much faith in his father, |
|
| ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਬੋਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣਿ ॥ |
| bulaaeiaa bolai gur kai bhaan || |
| I speak as it pleases the Guru to have me speak. |
|
| ਗੁਝੀ ਛੰਨੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਾਤ ॥ |
| gujhee shhannee naahee baath || |
| This is not a hidden secret; |
|
| ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੦੧॥ |
| gur naanak thuthaa keenee dhaath ||4||7||101|| |
| Guru Nanak, greatly pleased, has bestowed this gift. ||4||7||101|| |

| Giving His Hand, the Perfect Guru has protected the child. |

| ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੧॥ |
| pragatt bhaeiaa jan kaa parathaap ||1|| |
| The glory of His servant has become manifest. ||1|| |
|
| ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਪੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥ |
| gur gur japee guroo gur dhhiaaee || |
| I contemplate the Guru, the Guru; I meditate on the Guru, the Guru. |

| ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਹਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| jeea kee aradhaas guroo pehi paaee || rehaao || |
| I offer my heart-felt prayer to the Guru, and it is answered. ||Pause|| |

| ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥ |
| saran parae saachae guradhaev || |
| I have taken to the Sanctuary of the True Divine Guru. |
|
| ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵ ॥੨॥ |
| pooran hoee saevak saev ||2|| |
| The service of His servant has been fulfilled. ||2|| |
|
| ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ॥ |
| jeeo pindd joban raakhai praan || |
| He has preserved my soul, body, youth and breath of life. |
|
| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੩॥੮॥੧੦੨॥ |
| kahu naanak gur ko kurabaan ||3||8||102|| |
| Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the Guru. ||3||8||102|| |

| I am Your purchased slave, O True Lord Master. |

| ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੈ ਤੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ |
| jeeo pindd sabh this dhaa sabh kishh hai thaeraa ||1|| |
| My soul and body, and all of this, everything is Yours. ||1|| |

| ਮਾਣੁ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਤੂੰ ਧਣੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥ |
| maan nimaanae thoon dhhanee thaeraa bharavaasaa || |
| You are the honor of the dishonored. O Master, in You I place my trust. |

| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਅਨ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਸੋ ਜਾਣਹੁ ਕਾਚਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
