| O beautiful young bride, my Beloved Lord is very playful. |

| ਧਨ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਮੇਲਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥ |
| dhhan pirehi maelaa hoe suaamee aap prabh kirapaa karae || |
| The soul-bride meets her Husband Lord, when the Lord Master Himself showers His favor upon her. |

| ਸੇਜਾ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਸਾਤ ਸਰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭਰੇ ॥ |
| saejaa suhaavee sang pir kai saath sar anmrith bharae || |
| Her bed is decorated in the company of her Beloved, and her seven pools are filled with ambrosial nectar. |

| ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਓ ॥ |
| kar dhaeiaa maeiaa dhaeiaal saachae sabadh mil gun gaavou || |
| Be kind and compassionate to me, O Merciful True Lord, that I may obtain the Word of the Shabad, and sing Your Glorious Praises. |

| ਨਾਨਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਿਗਸੀ ਮੁੰਧ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਓ ॥੧॥ |

| O Nanak, gazing upon her Husband Lord, the soul-bride is delighted, and her mind is filled with joy. ||1|| |

| O bride of natural beauty, offer your loving prayers to the Lord. |

| ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗਮਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| mai man than har bhaavai prabh sangam raathee raam || |
| The Lord is pleasing to my mind and body; I am intoxicated in my Lord God's Company. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸੈ ॥ |
| prabh praem raathee har binanthee naam har kai sukh vasai || |
| Imbued with the Love of God, I pray to the Lord, and through the Lord's Name, I abide in peace. |

| ਤਉ ਗੁਣ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਗੁਣਹ ਵਸਿ ਅਵਗਣ ਨਸੈ ॥ |
| tho gun pashhaanehi thaa prabh jaanehi guneh vas avagan nasai || |
| If you recognize His Glorious Virtues, then you shall come to know God; thus virtue shall dwell in you, and sin shall run away. |

| ਤੁਧੁ ਬਾਝੁ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਾ ਕਹਣਿ ਸੁਨਣਿ ਨ ਧੀਜਏ ॥ |
| thudhh baajh eik thil rehi n saakaa kehan sunan n dhheejeae || |
| Without You, I cannot survive, even for an instant; by merely talking and listening about You, I am not satisfied. |

| ਨਾਨਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਿ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜਏ ॥੨॥ |
| naanakaa prio prio kar pukaarae rasan ras man bheejeae ||2|| |
| Nanak proclaims, "O Beloved, O Beloved!" His tongue and mind are drenched with the Lord's sublime essence. ||2|| |

| ਸਖੀਹੋ ਸਹੇਲੜੀਹੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| sakheeho sehaelarreeho maeraa pir vanajaaraa raam || |
| O my companions and friends, my Husband Lord is the merchant. |

| ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ+ ਵਣੰਜੜਿਆ ਰਸਿ ਮੋਲਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| har naamuo vananjarriaa ras mol apaaraa raam || |
| I have purchased the Lord's Name; its sweetness and value are unlimited. |

| ਮੋਲਿ ਅਮੋਲੋ ਸਚ ਘਰਿ ਢੋਲੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਮੁੰਧ ਭਲੀ ॥ |
| mol amolo sach ghar dtolo prabh bhaavai thaa mundhh bhalee || |
| His value is invaluable; the Beloved dwells in His true home. If it is pleasing to God, then He blesses His bride. |

| ਇਕਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਕਰਹਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਹਉ ਪੁਕਾਰੀ ਦਰਿ ਖਲੀ ॥ |
| eik sang har kai karehi raleeaa ho pukaaree dhar khalee || |
| Some enjoy sweet pleasures with the Lord, while I stand crying at His door. |

| ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਸਾਰਏ ॥ |
| karan kaaran samarathh sreedhhar aap kaaraj saareae || |
| The Creator, the Cause of causes, the All-powerful Lord Himself arranges our affairs. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਧਨ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਭ ਸਾਧਾਰਏ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak nadharee dhhan sohaagan sabadh abh saadhhaareae ||3|| |
| O Nanak, blessed is the soul-bride, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace; she enshrines the Word of the Shabad in her heart. ||3|| |

| ਹਮ ਘਰਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਹਿਲੜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਇਅੜੇ ਮੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| ham ghar saachaa sohilarraa prabh aaeiarrae meethaa raam || |
| In my home, the true songs of rejoicing resound; the Lord God, my Friend, has come to me. |

| ਰਾਵੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੜਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਅੜਾ ਦੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| raavae rang raatharriaa man leearraa dheethaa raam || |
| He enjoys me, and imbued with His Love, I have captivated His heart, and given mine to Him. |

| ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਲੀਆ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਵਏ ॥ |
| aapanaa man dheeaa har var leeaa jio bhaavai thio raaveae || |
| I gave my mind, and obtained the Lord as my Husband; as it pleases His Will, He enjoys me. |

| ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਆਗੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਭਾਗੈ ਘਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਏ ॥ |
| than man pir aagai sabadh sabhaagai ghar anmrith fal paaveae || |
| I have placed my body and mind before my Husband Lord, and through the Shabad, I have been blessed. Within the home of my own self, I have obtained the ambrosial fruit. |

| ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਠਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਹੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਐ ਭਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ॥ |
| budhh paath n paaeeai bahu chathuraaeeai bhaae milai man bhaanae || |
| He is not obtained by intellectual recitation or great cleverness; only by love does the mind obtain Him. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮੀਤ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਹਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਲੋਕਾਣੇ ॥੪॥੧॥ |

| O Nanak, the Lord Master is my Best Friend; I am not an ordinary person. ||4||1|| |

| The unstruck melody of the sound current resounds with the vibrations of the celestial instruments. |

| ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਲਾਲ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| maeraa mano maeraa man raathaa laal piaarae raam || |
| My mind, my mind is imbued with the Love of my Darling Beloved. |

| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਸੁੰਨ ਮੰਡਲਿ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| anadhin raathaa man bairaagee sunn manddal ghar paaeiaa || |
| Night and day, my detached mind remains absorbed in the Lord, and I obtain my home in the profound trance of the celestial void. |

| ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥ |
| aadh purakh aparanpar piaaraa sathigur alakh lakhaaeiaa || |
| The True Guru has revealed to me the Primal Lord, the Infinite, my Beloved, the Unseen. |

| ਆਸਣਿ ਬੈਸਣਿ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ |
| aasan baisan thhir naaraaein thith man raathaa veechaarae || |
| The Lord's posture and His seat are permanent; my mind is absorbed in reflective contemplation upon Him. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਅਨਹਦ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak naam rathae bairaagee anehadh run jhunakaarae ||1|| |
| O Nanak, the detached ones are imbued with His Name, the unstruck melody, and the celestial vibrations. ||1|| |

| ਤਿਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਤਿਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਪੁਰੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| thith agam thith agam purae kahu kith bidhh jaaeeai raam || |
| Tell me, how can I reach that unreachable, that unreachable city? |
 |
| ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਸਾਰਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| sach sanjamo saar gunaa gur sabadh kamaaeeai raam || |
| By practicing truthfulness and self-restraint, by contemplating His Glorious Virtues, and living the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |
 |
| ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ |
| sach sabadh kamaaeeai nij ghar jaaeeai paaeeai gunee nidhhaanaa || |
| Practicing the True Word of the Shabad, one comes to the home of his own inner being, and obtains the treasure of virtue. |
 |
| ਤਿਤੁ ਸਾਖਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਪਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਡਾਲੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ॥ |
| thith saakhaa mool path nehee ddaalee sir sabhanaa paradhhaanaa || |
| He has no stems, roots, leaves or branches, but He is the Supreme Lord over the heads of all. |
 |
| ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਜਮ ਥਾਕੀ ਹਠਿ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ |
| jap thap kar kar sanjam thhaakee hath nigrehi nehee paaeeai || |
| Practicing intensive meditation, chanting and self-discipline, people have grown weary; stubbornly practicing these rituals, they still have not found Him. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈਐ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak sehaj milae jagajeevan sathigur boojh bujhaaeeai ||2|| |
| O Nanak, through spiritual wisdom, the Lord, the Life of the world, is met; the True Guru imparts this understanding. ||2|| |

| ਕਰਿ ਮਜਨੋ ਸਪਤ ਸਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| kar majano sapath sarae man niramal maerae raam || |
| Take your bath in the seven seas, O my mind, and become pure. |

| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਲਿ ਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਏ ਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਏ ਪੰਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ |
| niramal jal nhaaeae jaa prabh bhaaeae panch milae veechaarae || |
| One bathes in the water of purity when it is pleasing to God, and obtains the five virtues by reflective meditation. |

| ਕਾਮੁ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਤਜਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥ |
| kaam karodhh kapatt bikhiaa thaj sach naam our dhhaarae || |
| Renouncing sexual desire, anger, deceit and corruption, he enshrines the True Name in his heart. |

| ਹਉਮੈ ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਲਬ ਥਾਕੇ ਪਾਏ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ |
| houmai lobh lehar lab thhaakae paaeae dheen dhaeiaalaa || |
| When the waves of ego, greed and avarice subside, he finds the Lord Master, Merciful to the meek. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak gur samaan theerathh nehee koee saachae gur gopaalaa ||3|| |
| O Nanak, there is no place of pilgrimage comparable to the Guru; the True Guru is the Lord of the world. ||3|| |

| ਹਉ ਬਨੁ ਬਨੋ ਦੇਖਿ ਰਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| ho ban bano dhaekh rehee thrin dhaekh sabaaeiaa raam || |
| I have searched the jungles and forests, and looked upon all the fields. |

| ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੋ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| thribhavano thujhehi keeaa sabh jagath sabaaeiaa raam || |
| You created the three worlds, the entire universe, everything. |
 |
| ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੀਆ ਤੂੰ ਥਿਰੁ ਥੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ |
| thaeraa sabh keeaa thoon thhir thheeaa thudhh samaan ko naahee || |
| You created everything; You alone are permanent. Nothing is equal to You. |

| ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਭ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥ |
| thoon dhaathaa sabh jaachik thaerae thudhh bin kis saalaahee || |
| You are the Giver - all are Your beggars; without You, who should we praise? |

| ਅਣਮੰਗਿਆ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥ |
| anamangiaa dhaan dheejai dhaathae thaeree bhagath bharae bhanddaaraa || |
| You bestow Your gifts, even when we do not ask for them, O Great Giver; devotion to You is a treasure over-flowing. |

| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੨॥ |
| raam naam bin mukath n hoee naanak kehai veechaaraa ||4||2|| |
| Without the Lord's Name, there is no liberation; so says Nanak, the meek. ||4||2|| |
