| bikhamo bikham akhaarraa mai gur mil jeethaa raam || |
| Meeting the Guru, I have won the most arduous battle in the arena of life. |

| gur mil jeethaa har har keethaa thoottee bheethaa bharam garraa || |
| Meeting the Guru, I am victorious; praising the Lord, Har, Har, the walls of the fortress of doubt have been destroyed. |

| ਪਾਇਆ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਸਾਣਥ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਪਿ ਖੜਾ ॥ |
| paaeiaa khajaanaa bahuth nidhhaanaa saanathh maeree aap kharraa || |
| I have obtained the wealth of so many treasures; the Lord Himself has stood by my side. |
|
| ਸੋਈ ਸੁਗਿਆਨਾ ਸੋ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ॥ |
| soee sugiaanaa so paradhhaanaa jo prabh apanaa keethaa || |
| He is the man of spiritual wisdom, and he is the leader, whom God has made His own. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਂ ਵਲਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਾ ਸਰਸੇ ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ |

| Says Nanak, when the Lord and Master is on my side, then my brothers and friends rejoice. ||4||1|| |

| akathhaa har akathh kathhaa kishh jaae n jaanee raam || |
| Inexpressible is the sermon of the inexpressible Lord; it cannot be known at all. |

| ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸਹਜਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| sur nar sur nar mun jan sehaj vakhaanee raam || |
| The demi-gods, mortal beings, angels and silent sages express it in their peaceful poise. |
|
| ਸਹਜੇ ਵਖਾਣੀ ਅਮਿਉ ਬਾਣੀ ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sehajae vakhaanee amio baanee charan kamal rang laaeiaa || |
| In their poise, they recite the Ambrosial Bani of the Lord's Word; they embrace love for the Lord's Lotus Feet. |
|
| ਜਪਿ ਏਕੁ ਅਲਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| jap eaek alakh prabh niranjan man chindhiaa fal paaeiaa || |
| Meditating on the One incomprehensible and immaculate Lord, they obtain the fruits of their heart's desires. |
|
| ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥ |
| thaj maan mohu vikaar dhoojaa jothee joth samaanee || |
| Renouncing self-conceit, emotional attachment, corruption and duality, their light merges into the Light. |

| ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀ ॥੧॥ |
| binavanth naanak gur prasaadhee sadhaa har rang maanee ||1|| |
| Prays Nanak, by Guru's Grace, one enjoys the Lord's Love forever. ||1|| |

| The Lord's Saints - the Lord's Saints are my friends, my best friends and helpers. |

| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| vaddabhaagee vaddabhaagee sathasangath paaee raam || |
| By great good fortune, by great good fortune, I have obtained the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. |

| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਲਾਥੇ ਦੂਖ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥ |
| vaddabhaagee paaeae naam dhhiaaeae laathhae dhookh santhaapai || |
| By great good fortune, I obtained it, and I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; my pains and sufferings have been taken away. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੇ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਆਪੈ ॥ |
| gur charanee laagae bhram bho bhaagae aap mittaaeiaa aapai || |
| I have grasped the Guru's Feet, and my doubts and fears are gone. He Himself has erased my self-conceit. |
|
| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| kar kirapaa maelae prabh apunai vishhurr kathehi n jaaee || |
| Granting His Grace, God has united me with Himself; no longer do I suffer the pains of separation, and I shall not have to go anywhere. |

| ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| binavanth naanak dhaas thaeraa sadhaa har saranaaee ||2|| |
| Prays Nanak, I am forever Your slave, Lord; I seek Your Sanctuary. ||2|| |

| The Lord's Gate - at the Lord's Gate, Your beloved devotees look beautiful. |

| ਵਾਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਵਾਰੀ ਜਾਵਾ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| vaaree thin vaaree jaavaa sadh balihaarae raam || |
| I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, again and again a sacrifice to them. |

| ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਭੇਟਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ॥ |
| sadh balihaarae kar namasakaarae jin bhaettath prabh jaathaa || |
| I am forever a sacrifice, and I humbly bow to them; meeting them, I know God. |
|
| ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥ |
| ghatt ghatt rav rehiaa sabh thhaaee pooran purakh bidhhaathaa || |
| The Perfect and All-powerful Lord, the Architect of Destiny, is contained in each and every heart, everywhere. |
|
| ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜੂਐ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹਾਰੇ ॥ |
| gur pooraa paaeiaa naam dhhiaaeiaa jooai janam n haarae || |
| Meeting the Perfect Guru, we meditate on the Naam, and do not lose this life in the gamble. |

| ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਖੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੩॥ |

| Prays Nanak, I seek Your Sanctuary; please, shower Your Mercy upon me, and protect me. ||3|| |

| baeanthaa baeanth gun thaerae kaethak gaavaa raam || |
| Innumerable - innumerable are Your Glorious Virtues; how many of them can I sing? |

| ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਣਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਰਣ ਧੂੜਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਵਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| thaerae charanaa thaerae charan dhhoorr vaddabhaagee paavaa raam || |
| The dust of Your feet, of Your feet, I have obtained, by great good fortune. |

| ਹਰਿ ਧੂੜੀ ਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਈਐ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਲਾਥੇ ॥ |
| har dhhoorree nhaaeeai mail gavaaeeai janam maran dhukh laathhae || |
| Bathing in the Lord's dust, my filth has been washed away, and the pains of birth and death have departed. |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਥੇ ॥ |
| anthar baahar sadhaa hadhoorae paramaesar prabh saathhae || |
| Inwardly and outwardly, the Transcendent Lord God is ever-present, always with us. |
|
| ਮਿਟੇ ਦੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਾ ॥ |
| mittae dhookh kaliaan keerathan bahurr jon n paavaa || |
| Suffering departs, and there is peace; singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, one is not consigned to reincarnation again. |

| My mind is pierced by the Lord's Lotus Feet; He alone is sweet to my mind, the Lord King. |

| ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟੇ ਡੀਠਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥ |
| mil santhasangath aaraadhhiaa har ghatt ghattae ddeethaa raam raajae || |
| Joining the Society of the Saints, I meditate on the Lord in adoration; I behold the Lord King in each and every heart. |

| ਹਰਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟੇ ਡੀਠਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ+ ਵੂਠਾ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ॥ |
| har ghatt ghattae ddeethaa anmrithuo voothaa janam maran dhukh naathae || |
| I behold the Lord in each and every heart, and the Ambrosial Nectar rains down upon me; the pains of birth and death are gone. |

| ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਈ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਜੀਠਾ ॥ |
| prio sehaj subhaaee shhodd n jaaee man laagaa rang majeethaa || |
| My Beloved shall not leave me to go anywhere - this is His natural way; my mind is imbued with the lasting color of the Lord's Love. |

| ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਧੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਨ ਨ ਮੀਠਾ ॥੧॥ |
| har naanak baedhhae charan kamal kishh aan n meethaa ||1|| |
| The Lotus Feet of the Lord have pierced Nanak's mind, and now, nothing else seems sweet to him. ||1|| |

| ਜਿਉ ਰਾਤੀ ਜਲਿ ਮਾਛੁਲੀ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਮਾਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥ |
| jio raathee jal maashhulee thio raam ras maathae raam raajae || |
| Just like the fish which revels in water, I am intoxicated with the sublime essence of the Lord, my Lord King. |

| ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਜੀਵਨ ਗਤਿ ਭਾਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥ |
| gur poorai oupadhaesiaa jeevan gath bhaathae raam raajae || |
| The Perfect Guru has instructed me, and blessed me with salvation in my life; I love the Lord, my King. |

| ਜੀਵਨ ਗਤਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਲੀਏ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਏ ॥ |
| jeevan gath suaamee antharajaamee aap leeeae larr laaeae || |
| The Lord Master, the Searcher of hearts, blesses me with salvation in my life; He Himself attaches me to His Love. |

| ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥੋ ਪਰਗਟੋ ਪੂਰਨੋ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਜਾਏ ॥ |
| har rathan padhaarathho paragatto poorano shhodd n kathehoo jaaeae || |
| The Lord is the treasure of jewels, the perfect manifestation; He shall not forsake us to go anywhere else. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੁਘਰੁ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਸੁਜਾਨੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਟੈ ਨ ਦਾਤੇ ॥ |
| prabh sughar saroop sujaan suaamee thaa kee mittai n dhaathae || |
| God, the Lord Master, is so accomplished, beauteous, and all-knowing; His gifts are never exhausted. |

| ਜਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਾਛੁਲੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਤੇ ॥੨॥ |
| jal sang raathee maashhulee naanak har maathae ||2|| |
| As the fish is enraptured by the water, so is Nanak intoxicated by the Lord. ||2|| |

| ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਬੂੰਦ ਜਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥ |
| chaathrik jaachai boondh jio har praan adhhaaraa raam raajae || |
| As the song-bird yearns for the rain-drop, the Lord, the Lord my King, is the Support of my breath of life. |
|
| ਮਾਲੁ ਖਜੀਨਾ ਸੁਤ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ ਮੀਤ ਸਭਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਜੇ ॥ |
| maal khajeenaa suth bhraath meeth sabhehoon thae piaaraa raam raajae || |
| My Lord King is more beloved than all wealth, treasure, children, siblings and friends. |
|
| ਸਭਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥ |
| sabhehoon thae piaaraa purakh niraaraa thaa kee gath nehee jaaneeai || |
| The absolute Lord, the Primal Being, is more beloved than all; His condition cannot be known. |

| ਹਰਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਗਿਰਾਸਿ ਨ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਕਬਹੂੰ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀਐ ॥ |
| har saas giraas n bisarai kabehoon gur sabadhee rang maaneeai || |
| I shall never forget the Lord, for an instant, for a single breath; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I enjoy His Love. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੋ ਸੰਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਨੋ ਜਪਿ ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖ ਡਾਰਾ ॥ |
| prabh purakh jagajeevano santh ras peevano jap bharam moh dhukh ddaaraa || |
| The Primal Lord God is the Life of the Universe; His Saints drink in the Lord's sublime essence. Meditating on Him, doubts, attachments and pains are shaken off. |

| ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਬੂੰਦ ਜਿਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੩॥ |
| chaathrik jaachai boondh jio naanak har piaaraa ||3|| |
