| When the Diamond of the Lord pierces the diamond of my mind, the fickle mind waving in the wind is easily absorbed into Him. |

| Says Kabeer, I have seen such a Diamond, permeating and pervading the world. |

| pehilee karoop kujaath kulakhanee saahurai paeeeai buree || |
| My first wife, ignorance, was ugly, of low social status and bad character; she was evil in my home, and in her parents' home. |

| ਅਬ ਕੀ ਸਰੂਪਿ ਸੁਜਾਨਿ ਸੁਲਖਨੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਉਦਰਿ ਧਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| ab kee saroop sujaan sulakhanee sehajae oudhar dhharee ||1|| |
| My present bride, divine understanding, is beautiful, wise and well-behaved; I have taken her to my heart. ||1|| |

| It has turned out so well, that my first wife has died. |

| Says Kabeer, when the younger bride came, the elder one lost her husband. |

| My daughter-in-law was first called Dhannia, the woman of wealth, |

| ਲੇ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਰਾਮ ਜਨੀਆ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| lae raakhiou raam janeeaa naao ||1|| |
| but now she is called Raam-jannia, the servant of the Lord. ||1|| |

| ਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮੁੰਡੀਅਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰੁ ਧੁੰਧਰਾਵਾ ॥ |

| These shaven-headed saints have ruined my house. |

| ਬਿਟਵਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਮਊਆ ਲਾਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| They have caused my son to start chanting the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause|| |

| Stay, stay, O daughter-in-law - do not cover your face with a veil. |

| ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਲਹੈਗੀ ਨ ਆਢੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| In the end, this shall not bring you even half a shell. ||1||Pause|| |

| The one before you used to veil her face; |

| ਉਨ ਕੀ ਗੈਲਿ ਤੋਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੧॥ |

| do not follow in her footsteps. ||1|| |

| ਘੂੰਘਟ ਕਾਢੇ ਕੀ ਇਹੈ ਬਡਾਈ ॥ |
| ghoonghatt kaadtae kee eihai baddaaee || |
| The only merit in veiling your face is |

| ਦਿਨ ਦਸ ਪਾਂਚ ਬਹੂ ਭਲੇ ਆਈ ॥੨॥ |
| dhin dhas paanch behoo bhalae aaee ||2|| |
| that for a few days, people will say, ""What a noble bride has come"". ||2|| |

| ਘੂੰਘਟੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਤਉ ਪਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ॥ |
| ghoonghatt thaero tho par saachai || |
| Your veil shall be true only if |
 |
| ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਕੂਦਹਿ ਅਰੁ ਨਾਚੈ ॥੩॥ |
| har gun gaae koodhehi ar naachai ||3|| |
| you skip, dance and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3|| |

| ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਬਹੂ ਤਬ ਜੀਤੈ ॥ |
| kehath kabeer behoo thab jeethai || |
| Says Kabeer, the soul-bride shall win, |

| ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਤੀਤੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩੪॥ |
| har gun gaavath janam bitheethai ||4||1||34|| |
| only if she passes her life singing the Lord's Praises. ||4||1||34|| |

| I would rather be cut apart by a saw, than have You turn Your back on me. |

| ਲਾਗੁ ਗਲੇ ਸੁਨੁ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ |
| laag galae sun binathee maeree ||1|| |
| Hug me close, and listen to my prayer. ||1|| |

| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਮੁਖੁ ਫੇਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ |
| ho vaaree mukh faer piaarae || |
| I am a sacrifice to You - please, turn Your face to me, O Beloved Lord. |

| ਕਰਵਟੁ ਦੇ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| Why have You turned Your back to me? Why have You killed me? ||1||Pause|| |

| Even if You cut my body apart, I shall not pull my limbs away from You. |

| ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪਰੈ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਤੋਰਉ ॥੨॥ |
| pindd parai tho preeth n thoro ||2|| |
| Even if my body falls, I shall not break my bonds of love with You. ||2|| |

| ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਬੀਚੁ ਭਇਓ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ॥ |

| Between You and I, there is no other. |

| ਤੁਮਹਿ ਸੁ ਕੰਤ ਨਾਰਿ ਹਮ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥ |

| You are the Husband Lord, and I am the soul-bride. ||3|| |

| No one knows the secret of God, the Cosmic Weaver. |

| ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਆਨਿ ਤਨਾਇਓ ਤਾਨਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sabh jag aan thanaaeiou thaanaan ||1|| rehaao || |
| He has stretched out the fabric of the whole world. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਜਬ ਤੁਮ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੇ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨਾਂ ॥ |
| jab thum sun lae baedh puraanaan || |
| When you listen to the Vedas and the Puraanas, |

| ਤਬ ਹਮ ਇਤਨਕੁ ਪਸਰਿਓ ਤਾਨਾਂ ॥੧॥ |
| thab ham eithanak pasariou thaanaan ||1|| |
| you shall know that the whole world is only a small piece of His woven fabric. ||1|| |

| ਧਰਨਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਕੀ ਕਰਗਹ ਬਨਾਈ ॥ |
| dhharan akaas kee karageh banaaee || |
| He has made the earth and sky His loom. |
 |
| ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਾਥ ਚਲਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| chandh sooraj dhue saathh chalaaee ||2|| |
| Upon it, He moves the two bobbins of the sun and the moon. ||2|| |
 |
| ਪਾਈ ਜੋਰਿ ਬਾਤ ਇਕ ਕੀਨੀ ਤਹ ਤਾਂਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾਂ ॥ |
| paaee jor baath eik keenee theh thaanthee man maanaan || |
| Placing my feet together, I have accomplished one thing - my mind is pleased with that Weaver. |

| ਜੋਲਾਹੇ ਘਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਂ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾਂ ॥੩॥ |
| jolaahae ghar apanaa cheenhaan ghatt hee raam pashhaanaan ||3|| |
| I have come to understand my own home, and recognize the Lord within my heart. ||3|| |
