| No one can take away the Guru's gifts; my Lord and Master Himself has given them. |

| nindhak nar kaalae mukh nindhaa jinh gur kee dhaath n bhaaee ||4|| |
| The black-faced slanderers, with slander in their mouths, do not appreciate the Guru's gifts. ||4|| |

| ਐ ਜੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਬਿਲਮ ਨ ਅਧੂਆ ਰਾਈ ॥ |
| ai jee saran parae prabh bakhas milaavai bilam n adhhooaa raaee || |
| God forgives and blends with Himself those who take to His Sanctuary; He does not delay for an instant. |

| ਆਨਦ ਮੂਲੁ ਨਾਥੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਨਾਥਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੫॥ |
| aanadh mool naathh sir naathhaa sathigur mael milaaee ||5|| |
| He is the source of bliss, the Greatest Lord; through the True Guru, we are united in His Union. ||5|| |

| ਐ ਜੀ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਨਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥ |
| ai jee sadhaa dhaeiaal dhaeiaa kar raviaa guramath bhraman chukaaee || |
| Through His Kindness, the Kind Lord pervades us; through Guru's Teachings, our wanderings cease. |

| ਪਾਰਸੁ ਭੇਟਿ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਧਾਤੁ ਹੋਈ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੬॥ |
| paaras bhaett kanchan dhhaath hoee sathasangath kee vaddiaaee ||6|| |
| Touching the philosopher's stone, metal is transformed into gold. Such is the glorious greatness of the Society of the Saints. ||6|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਜਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ਮਜਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| har jal niramal man eisanaanee majan sathigur bhaaee || |
| The Lord is the immaculate water; the mind is the bather, and the True Guru is the bath attendant, O Siblings of Destiny. |

| ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਨ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੭॥ |
| punarap janam naahee jan sangath jothee joth milaaee ||7|| |
| That humble being who joins the Sat Sangat shall not be consigned to reincarnation again; his light merges into the Light. ||7|| |

| ਤੂੰ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਗੰਮ ਤਰੋਵਰੁ ਹਮ ਪੰਖੀ ਤੁਝ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ |

| You are the Great Primal Lord, the infinite tree of life; I am a bird perched on Your branches. |

| They tearfully beg and implore the Lord; in love and affection, their consciousness is at peace. ||1|| |

| O mind, even death wishes you well, when you remember the Lord through the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| The intellect receives the treasure, the knowledge of reality and supreme bliss, by repeating the Lord's Name in the mind. ||2|| |

| chal chith vith bhramaa bhraman jag moh magan hithan || |
| The fickle consciousness wanders around chasing after wealth; it is intoxicated with worldly love and emotional attachment. |

| ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਦਿੜੰ ਮਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਵਾਕਿ ਸਬਦ ਰਤੰ ॥੩॥ |
| thhir naam bhagath dhirran mathee gur vaak sabadh rathan ||3|| |
| Devotion to the Naam is permanently implanted within the mind, when it is attuned to the Guru's Teachings and His Shabad. ||3|| |

| ਭਰਮਾਤਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਚੂਕਈ ਜਗੁ ਜਨਮਿ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਖਪੰ ॥ |
| bharamaath bharam n chookee jag janam biaadhh khapan || |
| Wandering around, doubt is not dispelled; afflicted by reincarnation, the world is being ruined. |

| ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੰ ਸਤਿ ਮਤੀ ਨਾਮ ਤਪੰ ॥੪॥ |
| asathhaan har nihakaevalan sath mathee naam thapan ||4|| |
| The Lord's eternal throne is free of this affliction; he is truly wise, who takes the Naam as his deep meditation. ||4|| |

| ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਮੋਹ ਹੇਤ ਬਿਆਪਿਤੰ ਦੁਖੁ ਅਧਿਕ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣੰ ॥ |
| eihu jag moh haeth biaapithan dhukh adhhik janam maranan || |
| This world is engrossed in attachment and transitory love; it suffers the terrible pains of birth and death. |

| ਭਜੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਊਬਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਰਮਣੰ ॥੫॥ |
| bhaj saran sathigur oobarehi har naam ridh ramanan ||5|| |
| Run to the Sanctuary of the True Guru, chant the Lord's Name in your heart, and you shall swim across. ||5|| |

| ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਮਨਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਨੰ ਸਹਜ ਬੀਚਾਰੰ ॥ |
| guramath nihachal man man manan sehaj beechaaran || |
| Following the Guru's Teaching, the mind becomes stable; the mind accepts it, and reflects upon it in peaceful poise. |

| ਸੋ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਸਾਰੰ ॥੬॥ |
| so man niramal jith saach anthar giaan rathan saaran ||6|| |
| That mind is pure, which enshrines Truth within, and the most excellent jewel of spiritual wisdom. ||6|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਤਉ ਸਰਣੀ ॥੭॥ |
| har naam hiradhai pavithra paavan eihu sareer tho saranee ||7|| |
| The Name of the Lord, the most pure and sacred, is within my heart; this body is Your Sanctuary, Lord. ||7|| |

| ਲਬ ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਣੰ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਾਸਿ ਮਨੰ ॥ |
| lab lobh lehar nivaaranan har naam raas manan || |
| The waves of greed and avarice are subdued, by treasuring the Lord's Name in the mind. |

| ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਤੁਹੀ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਰਨੰ ॥੮॥੧॥੫॥ |

| ਚਿਤੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੋ ਇਛੀ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| chith thhir raakhai so mukath hovai jo eishhee soee fal paaee ||1|| |
| One who keeps his consciousness focused on the Lord is liberated; he obtains the fruits of his desires. ||1|| |

| ਨਾਚੁ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਆਗੈ ॥ |
| naach rae man gur kai aagai || |
| So dance, O mind, before your Guru. |
|
| ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਨਾਚਹਿ ਤਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਅੰਤੇ ਜਮ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| gur kai bhaanai naachehi thaa sukh paavehi anthae jam bho bhaagai || rehaao || |
| If you dance according to the Guru's Will, you shall obtain peace, and in the end, the fear of death shall leave you. ||Pause|| |

| ਆਪਿ ਨਚਾਏ ਸੋ ਭਗਤੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਲਾਏ ॥ |
| aap nachaaeae so bhagath keheeai aapanaa piaar aap laaeae || |
| One whom the Lord Himself causes to dance, is called a devotee. He Himself links us to His Love. |

| ਆਪੇ ਗਾਵੈ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਅੰਧੇ ਕਉ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ॥੨॥ |
| aapae gaavai aap sunaavai eis man andhhae ko maarag paaeae ||2|| |
| He Himself sings, He Himself listens, and He puts this blind mind on the right path. ||2|| |
|
| ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਚੈ ਸਕਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ਸਿਵ ਘਰਿ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| anadhin naachai sakath nivaarai siv ghar needh n hoee || |
| One who dances night and day, and banishes Shakti's Maya, enters the House of the Lord Shiva, where there is no sleep. |

| ਸਕਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਸੂਤਾ ਨਾਚੈ ਟਾਪੈ ਅਵਰੋ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੩॥ |
| sakathee ghar jagath soothaa naachai ttaapai avaro gaavai manamukh bhagath n hoee ||3|| |
| The world is asleep in Maya, the house of Shakti; it dances, jumps and sings in duality. The self-willed manmukh has no devotion. ||3|| |

| ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਵਿਰਤਿ ਪਖਿ ਕਰਮੀ ਨਾਚੇ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ |
| sur nar virath pakh karamee naachae mun jan giaan beechaaree || |
| The angels, mortals, renunciates, ritualists, silent sages and beings of spiritual wisdom dance. |

| ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਨਾਚੇ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੪॥ |
| sidhh saadhhik liv laagee naachae jin guramukh budhh veechaaree ||4|| |
| The Siddhas and seekers, lovingly focused on the Lord, dance, as do the Gurmukhs, whose minds dwell in reflective meditation. ||4|| |

| ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਚੇ ਜਿਨ ਲਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥ |
| khandd brehamandd thrai gun naachae jin laagee har liv thumaaree || |
| The planets and solar systems dance in the three qualities, as do those who bear love for You, Lord. |
|
| ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭੇ ਹੀ ਨਾਚੇ ਨਾਚਹਿ ਖਾਣੀ ਚਾਰੀ ॥੫॥ |
| jeea janth sabhae hee naachae naachehi khaanee chaaree ||5|| |
| The beings and creatures all dance, and the four sources of creation dance. ||5|| |
|
| ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਨਾਚਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥ |
| jo thudhh bhaavehi saeee naachehi jin guramukh sabadh liv laaeae || |
| They alone dance, who are pleasing to You, and who, as Gurmukhs, embrace love for the Word of the Shabad. |
|
| ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ਤਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਨਾਏ ॥੬॥ |
| sae bhagath sae thath giaanee jin ko hukam manaaeae ||6|| |
| They are devotees, with the essence of spiritual wisdom, who obey the Hukam of His Command. ||6|| |
|
| ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| eaehaa bhagath sachae sio liv laagai bin saevaa bhagath n hoee || |
| This is devotional worship, that one loves the True Lord; without service, one cannot be a devotee. |
|
| ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੭॥ |
| jeevath marai thaa sabadh beechaarai thaa sach paavai koee ||7|| |
| If one remains dead while yet alive, he reflects upon the Shabad, and then, he obtains the True Lord. ||7|| |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਅਰਥਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਲੋਕ ਨਾਚੇ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ |
| maaeiaa kai arathh bahuth lok naachae ko viralaa thath beechaaree || |
| So many people dance for the sake of Maya; how rare are those who contemplate reality. |

| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੮॥ |
| gur parasaadhee soee jan paaeae jin ko kirapaa thumaaree ||8|| |
| By Guru's Grace, that humble being obtains You, Lord, upon whom You show Mercy. ||8|| |
