| ਕਲੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਉਤਾਰੁ ॥ |
| kalee andhar naanakaa jinnaan dhaa aouthaar || |
| In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, O Nanak, the demons have taken birth. |

| ਪੁਤੁ ਜਿਨੂਰਾ ਧੀਅ ਜਿੰਨੂਰੀ ਜੋਰੂ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਕਦਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ |
| puth jinooraa dhheea jinnooree joroo jinnaa dhaa sikadhaar ||1|| |
| The son is a demon, and the daughter is a demon; the wife is the chief of the demons. ||1|| |

| ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੂਲੇ ਭੂਲੇ ਅਖੁਟੀ ਜਾਂਹੀ ॥ |
| hindhoo moolae bhoolae akhuttee jaanhee || |
| The Hindus have forgotten the Primal Lord; they are going the wrong way. |
|
| ਨਾਰਦਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਸਿ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਂਹੀ ॥ਅੰਧੇ ਗੁੰਗੇ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| naaradh kehiaa s pooj karaanhee || andhhae gungae andhh andhhaar || |
| As Naarad instructed them, they are worshipping idols. They are blind and mute, the blindest of the blind. |

| ਪਾਥਰੁ ਲੇ ਪੂਜਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥ |
| paathhar lae poojehi mugadhh gavaar || |
| The ignorant fools pick up stones and worship them. |
|
| ਓਹਿ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਡੁਬੇ ਤੁਮ ਕਹਾ ਤਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥ |
| ouhi jaa aap ddubae thum kehaa tharanehaar ||2|| |
| But when those stones themselves sink, who will carry you across? ||2|| |

| ਸਭੁ ਕਿਹੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਤੂ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥ |
| sabh kihu thaerai vas hai thoo sachaa saahu || |
| Everything is in Your power; You are the True King. |
|
| ਭਗਤ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਏਕ ਕੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥ |
| bhagath rathae rang eaek kai pooraa vaesaahu || |
| The devotees are imbued with the Love of the One Lord; they have perfect faith in Him. |
|
| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਜਿ ਰਜਿ ਜਨ ਖਾਹੁ ॥ |
| anmrith bhojan naam har raj raj jan khaahu || |
| The Name of the Lord is the ambrosial food; His humble servants eat their fill. |
|
| ਸਭਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਿਮਰਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹੁ ॥ |
| sabh padhaarathh paaeean simaran sach laahu || |
| All treasures are obtained - meditative remembrance on the Lord is the true profit. |

| ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਹੁ ॥੨੦॥ |
| santh piaarae paarabreham naanak har agam agaahu ||20|| |
| The Saints are very dear to the Supreme Lord God, O Nanak; the Lord is unapproachable and unfathomable. ||20|| |

| Shalok, Third Mehl: |

| ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਆਵਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| sabh kishh hukamae aavadhaa sabh kishh hukamae jaae || |
| Everything comes by the Lord's Will, and everything goes by the Lord's Will. |
|
| ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਆਪਹੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਅੰਧਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ |
| jae ko moorakh aapahu jaanai andhhaa andhh kamaae || |
| If some fool believes that he is the creator, he is blind, and acts in blindness. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| naanak hukam ko guramukh bujhai jis no kirapaa karae rajaae ||1|| |
| O Nanak, the Gurmukh understands the Hukam of the Lord's Command; the Lord showers His Mercy upon him. ||1|| |

| Third Mehl: |
|
| ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| so jogee jugath so paaeae jis no guramukh naam paraapath hoe || |
| He alone is a Yogi, and he alone finds the Way, who, as Gurmukh, obtains the Naam. |
|
| ਤਿਸੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਕੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਸੈ ਭੇਖੀ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| this jogee kee nagaree sabh ko vasai bhaekhee jog n hoe || |
| In the body-village of that Yogi are all blessings; this Yoga is not obtained by outward show. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak aisaa viralaa ko jogee jis ghatt paragatt hoe ||2|| |
| O Nanak, such a Yogi is very rare; the Lord is manifest in his heart. ||2|| |

| ਆਪੇ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥ |
| aapae janth oupaaeian aapae aadhhaar || |
| He Himself created the creatures, and He Himself supports them. |
|
| ਆਪੇ ਸੂਖਮੁ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥ |
| aapae sookham bhaaleeai aapae paasaar || |
| He Himself is seen to be subtle, and He Himself is obvious. |
|
| ਆਪਿ ਇਕਾਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਵਡ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥ |
| aap eikaathee hoe rehai aapae vadd paravaar || |
| He Himself remains a solitary recluse, and He Himself has a huge family. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਰੇਨਾਰੁ ॥ |
| naanak mangai dhaan har santhaa raenaar || |
| Nanak asks for the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints of the Lord. |

| ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ |

| amalee amal n anbarrai mashhee neer n hoe || |
| To the addict, there is nothing like the drug; to the fish, there is nothing else like water. |

| ਜੋ ਰਤੇ ਸਹਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਤਿਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ |
| jo rathae sehi aapanai thin bhaavai sabh koe ||1|| |
| Those who are attuned to their Lord - everyone is pleasing to them. ||1|| |

| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਵੰਞਾ ਖੰਨੀਐ ਵੰਞਾ ਤਉ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੇ ਨਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| ho vaaree vannjaa khanneeai vannjaa tho saahib kae naavai ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am a sacrifice, cut apart into pieces, a sacrifice to Your Name, O Lord Master. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਰੁਖੜਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| saahib safaliou rukharraa anmrith jaa kaa naao || |
| The Lord is the fruitful tree; His Name is ambrosial nectar. |
|
| ਜਿਨ ਪੀਆ ਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਭਏ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੨॥ |
| jin peeaa thae thripath bheae ho thin balihaarai jaao ||2|| |
| Those who drink it in are satisfied; I am a sacrifice to them. ||2|| |
|
| ਮੈ ਕੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਹੀ ਵਸਹਿ ਹਭੀਆਂ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ |
| mai kee nadhar n aavehee vasehi habheeaaan naal || |
| You are not visible to me, although You dwell with everyone. |
|
| ਤਿਖਾ ਤਿਹਾਇਆ ਕਿਉ ਲਹੈ ਜਾ ਸਰ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਪਾਲਿ ॥੩॥ |
| thikhaa thihaaeiaa kio lehai jaa sar bheethar paal ||3|| |
| How can the thirst of the thirsty be quenched, with that wall between me and the pond? ||3|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਾਣੀਆ ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
| naanak thaeraa baaneeaa thoo saahib mai raas || |
| Nanak is Your merchant; You, O Lord Master, are my merchandise. |
|
| ਮਨ ਤੇ ਧੋਖਾ ਤਾ ਲਹੈ ਜਾ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧॥ |
| man thae dhhokhaa thaa lehai jaa sifath karee aradhaas ||4||1|| |
| My mind is cleansed of doubt, only when I praise You, and pray to You. ||4||1|| |

| ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਨਿਰਗੁਣਿ ਕੂਕੇ ਕਾਇ ॥ |
| gunavanthee sahu raaviaa niragun kookae kaae || |
| The virtuous bride enjoys her Husband Lord; why does the unworthy one cry out? |
|
| ਜੇ ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਥੀ ਰਹੈ ਤਾ ਭੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਣ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| jae gunavanthee thhee rehai thaa bhee sahu raavan jaae ||1|| |
| If she were to become virtuous, then she too could enjoy her Husband Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਮੇਰਾ ਕੰਤੁ ਰੀਸਾਲੂ ਕੀ ਧਨ ਅਵਰਾ ਰਾਵੇ ਜੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| maeraa kanth reesaaloo kee dhhan avaraa raavae jee ||1|| rehaao || |
| My Husband Lord is loving and playful; why should the soul-bride enjoy anyone else? ||1||Pause|| |
|
| ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਮਣ ਜੇ ਥੀਐ ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਧਾਗਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| karanee kaaman jae thheeai jae man dhhaagaa hoe || |
| If the soul-bride does good deeds, and strings them on the thread of her mind, |
|
| ਮਾਣਕੁ ਮੁਲਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਲੀਜੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਪਰੋਇ ॥੨॥ |
| maanak mul n paaeeai leejai chith paroe ||2|| |
| she obtains the jewel, which cannot be purchased for any price, strung upon the thread of her consciousness. ||2|| |
|
| ਰਾਹੁ ਦਸਾਈ ਨ ਜੁਲਾਂ ਆਖਾਂ ਅੰਮੜੀਆਸੁ ॥ |
| raahu dhasaaee n julaan aakhaan anmarreeaas || |
| I ask, but do not follow the way shown to me; still, I claim to have reached my destination. |

| ਤੈ ਸਹ ਨਾਲਿ ਅਕੂਅਣਾ ਕਿਉ ਥੀਵੈ ਘਰ ਵਾਸੁ ॥੩॥ |
| thai seh naal akooanaa kio thheevai ghar vaas ||3|| |
| I do not speak with You, O my Husband Lord; how then can I come to have a place in Your home? ||3|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੀ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| naanak eaekee baaharaa dhoojaa naahee koe || |
| O Nanak, without the One Lord, there is no other at all. |
|
| ਤੈ ਸਹ ਲਗੀ ਜੇ ਰਹੈ ਭੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥ |
| thai seh lagee jae rehai bhee sahu raavai soe ||4||2|| |
| If the soul-bride remains attached to You, then she shall enjoy her Husband Lord. ||4||2|| |

| The peacocks are singing so sweetly, O sister; the rainy season of Saawan has come. |
