| sohaaganee sadhaa mukh oujalaa gur kai sehaj subhaae || |
| The faces of the happy soul-brides are radiant forever; through the Guru, they are peacefully poised. |

| ਸਦਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੧॥ |
| sadhaa pir raavehi aapanaa vichahu aap gavaae ||1|| |
| They enjoy their Husband Lord constantly, eradicating their ego from within. ||1|| |

| ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਤੂ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥ |

| O my mind, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. |

| sathagur mo ko har dheeaa bujhaae ||1|| rehaao || |
| The True Guru has led me to understand the Lord. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਖਰੀਆ ਬਿਲਲਾਦੀਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| dhohaaganee khareeaa bilalaadheeaa thinaa mehal n paae || |
| The abandoned brides cry out in their suffering; they do not attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. |

| ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਕਰੂਪੀ ਦੂਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| dhoojai bhaae karoopee dhookh paavehi aagai jaae ||2|| |
| In the love of duality, they appear so ugly; they suffer in pain as they go to the world beyond. ||2|| |

| ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਨਿਤ ਗੁਣ ਰਵੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਇ ॥ |
| gunavanthee nith gun ravai hiradhai naam vasaae || |
| The virtuous soul-bride constantly chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord; she enshrines the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within her heart. |

| ਅਉਗਣਵੰਤੀ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
| aouganavanthee kaamanee dhukh laagai bilalaae ||3|| |
| The unvirtuous woman suffers, and cries out in pain. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਭਤਾਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| sabhanaa kaa bhathaar eaek hai suaamee kehanaa kishhoo n jaae || |
| The One Lord and Master is the Husband Lord of all; His Praises cannot be expressed. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਕ ਕੀਤਿਅਨੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੪॥ |

| O Nanak, He has separated some from Himself, while others are to His Name. ||4||4|| |

| anmrith naam sadh meethaa laagaa gur sabadhee saadh aaeiaa || |
| The Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam is always sweet to me; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I come to taste it. |

| ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ |
| sachee baanee sehaj samaanee har jeeo man vasaaeiaa ||1|| |
| Through the True Word of the Guru's Bani, I am merged in peace and poise; the Dear Lord is enshrined in the mind. ||1|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਤਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥ |

| The Lord, showing His Mercy, has caused me to meet the True Guru. |

| brehamai baedh baanee paragaasee maaeiaa moh pasaaraa || |
| Through Brahma, the hymns of the Vedas were revealed, but the love of Maya spread. |

| ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਵਰਤੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਤਾਮਸੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ |
| mehaadhaeo giaanee varathai ghar aapanai thaamas bahuth ahankaaraa ||2|| |
| The wise one, Shiva, remains absorbed in himself, but he is engrossed in dark passions and excessive egotism. ||2|| |

| ਕਿਸਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਵਤਾਰੀ ਰੂਧਾ ਕਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| kisan sadhaa avathaaree roodhhaa kith lag tharai sansaaraa || |
| Vishnu is always busy reincarnating himself - who will save the world? |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਰਤੇ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚੂਕੈ ਮੋਹ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥੩॥ |
| guramukh giaan rathae jug anthar chookai moh gubaaraa ||3|| |
| The Gurmukhs are imbued with spiritual wisdom in this age; they are rid of the darkness of emotional attachment. ||3|| |

| ਸਤਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ |
| sathagur saevaa thae nisathaaraa guramukh tharai sansaaraa || |
| Serving the True Guru, one is emancipated; the Gurmukh crosses over the world-ocean. |

| ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥੪॥ |
| saachai naae rathae bairaagee paaein mokh dhuaaraa ||4|| |
| The detached renunciates are imbued with the True Name; they attain the gate of salvation. ||4|| |

| ਏਕੋ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥ |
| eaeko sach varathai sabh anthar sabhanaa karae prathipaalaa || |
| The One True Lord is pervading and permeating everywhere; He cherishes everyone. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਦੀਵਾਨੁ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੫॥੫॥ |
| naanak eikas bin mai avar n jaanaa sabhanaa dheevaan dhaeiaalaa ||5||5|| |
| O Nanak, without the One Lord, I do not know any other; He is the Merciful Master of all. ||5||5|| |

| As Gurmukh, O my mind, remember the Naam, the Name of the Lord. |

| ਸਦਾ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਚਲੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| sadhaa nibehai chalai thaerai naal || rehaao || |
| It shall stand by you always, and go with you. ||Pause|| |

| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| guramukh jaath path sach soe || |
| The True Lord is the social status and honor of the Gurmukh. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥ |
| guramukh anthar sakhaaee prabh hoe ||2|| |
| Within the Gurmukh, is God, his friend and helper. ||2|| |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| guramukh jis no aap karae so hoe || |
| He alone becomes Gurmukh, whom the Lord so blesses. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥ |
| guramukh aap vaddaaee dhaevai soe ||3|| |
| He Himself blesses the Gurmukh with greatness. ||3|| |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥ |
| guramukh sabadh sach karanee saar || |
| The Gurmukh lives the True Word of the Shabad, and practices good deeds. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਧਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੬॥ |
| guramukh naanak paravaarai saadhhaar ||4||6|| |
| The Gurmukh, O Nanak, emancipates his family and relations. ||4||6|| |

| My tongue is intuitively attracted to the taste of the Lord. |

| ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ |
| man thripathiaa har naam dhhiaae ||1|| |
| My mind is satisfied, meditating on the Name of the Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥ |
| sadhaa sukh saachai sabadh veechaaree || |
| Lasting peace is obtained, contemplating the Shabad, the True Word of God. |

| ਆਪਣੇ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| aapanae sathagur vittahu sadhaa balihaaree ||1|| rehaao || |
| I am forever a sacrifice to my True Guru. ||1||Pause|| |

| ਅਖੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ |
| akhee santhokheeaa eaek liv laae || |
| My eyes are content, lovingly focused on the One Lord. |

| ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| man santhokhiaa dhoojaa bhaao gavaae ||2|| |
| My mind is content, having forsaken the love of duality. ||2|| |
|
| ਦੇਹ ਸਰੀਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥ |
| dhaeh sareer sukh hovai sabadh har naae || |
| The frame of my body is at peace, through the Shabad, and the Name of the Lord. |

| ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥ |
| naam paramal hiradhai rehiaa samaae ||3|| |
| The fragrance of the Naam permeates my heart. ||3|| |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੁ ॥ |
| naanak masathak jis vaddabhaag || |
| O Nanak, one who has such great destiny written upon his forehead, |

| ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ॥੪॥੭॥ |

| through the Bani of the Guru's Word, easily and intuitively becomes free of desire. ||4||7|| |
