| anadhin har rang har gun gaavai har rangee har rangaa || |
| Night and day, imbued with the Lord's Love, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the Lord's lover loves the Lord. |

| jan naanak nirabaan padh paaeiaa har outham har padh changaa ||2|| |
| Servant Nanak has obtained the state of Nirvaanaa, the state of ultimate goodness, the state of the Lord. ||2|| |

| ਕੜੀਆਲੁ ਮੁਖੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| karreeaal mukhae gur giaan dhrirraaeiaa raam || |
| For a bridle in my mouth, the Guru has implanted spiritual wisdom within me. |

| ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਚਾਬਕੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| than praem har chaabak laaeiaa raam || |
| He has applied the whip of the Lord's Love to my body. |

| ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਇ ਚਾਬਕੁ ਮਨੁ ਜਿਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੀਤਿਆ ॥ |
| than praem har har laae chaabak man jinai guramukh jeethiaa || |
| Applying the whip of the Lord's Love to his body, the Gurmukh conquers his mind, and wins the battle of life. |

| ਅਘੜੋ ਘੜਾਵੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਅਪਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਤਿਆ ॥ |
| agharro gharraavai sabadh paavai apio har ras peethiaa || |
| He trains his untrained mind with the Word of the Shabad, and drinks in the rejuvenating essence of the Lord's Nectar. |

| ਸੁਣਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਤੁਰੀ ਚੜਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sun sravan baanee gur vakhaanee har rang thuree charraaeiaa || |
| Listen with your ears to the Word, uttered by the Guru, and attune your body-horse to the Lord's Love. |

| ਮਹਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੰਥੁ ਬਿਖੜਾ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| mehaa maarag panthh bikharraa jan naanak paar langhaaeiaa ||3|| |
| Servant Nanak has crossed over the long and treacherous path. ||3|| |

| ਘੋੜੀ ਤੇਜਣਿ ਦੇਹ ਰਾਮਿ ਉਪਾਈਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |

| The transitory body-horse was created by the Lord. |

| ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਾ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਤੁਖਾਈਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| jith har prabh jaapai saa dhhan dhhann thukhaaeeaa raam || |
| Blessed, blessed is that body-horse which meditates on the Lord God. |

| ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਾ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਾਬਾਸੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਜੁੜੰਦਾ ॥ |
| jith har prabh jaapai saa dhhann saabaasai dhhur paaeiaa kirath jurrandhaa || |
| Blessed and acclaimed is that body-horse which meditates on the Lord God; it is obtained by the merits of past actions. |

| ਚੜਿ ਦੇਹੜਿ ਘੋੜੀ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਲਘਾਏ ਮਿਲੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥ |
| charr dhaeharr ghorree bikham laghaaeae mil guramukh paramaanandhaa || |
| Riding the body-horse, one crosses over the terrifying world ocean; the Gurmukh meets the Lord, the embodiment of supreme bliss. |

| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਜੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਜੰਞ ਆਈ ॥ |
| har har kaaj rachaaeiaa poorai mil santh janaa jannj aaee || |
| The Lord, Har, Har, has perfectly arranged this wedding; the Saints have come together as a marriage party. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਵਾਧਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥ |
| jan naanak har var paaeiaa mangal mil santh janaa vaadhhaaee ||4||1||5|| |
| Servant Nanak has obtained the Lord as his Spouse; joining together, the Saints sing the songs of joy and congratulations. ||4||1||5|| |

| The body is the Lord's horse; the Lord imbues it with the fresh and new color. |

| ਗਿਆਨ ਮੰਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਚੰਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਣੀਆ ॥ |
| giaan mangee har kathhaa changee har naam gath mith jaaneeaa || |
| I ask for the Lord's spiritual wisdom, and the Lord's sublime sermon; through the Name of the Lord, I have come to know His value and His state. |

| ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਫਲਿਉ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਖਾਣੀਆ ॥ |

| The Creator has made my life totally fruitful; I chant the Name of the Lord. |

| har raam naam salaahi har prabh har bhagath har jan mangeeaa || |
| The Lord's humble servant begs for the Lord's Name, for the Lord's Praises, and for devotional worship of the Lord God. |

| ਜਨੁ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਚੰਗੀਆ ॥੧॥ |
| jan kehai naanak sunahu santhahu har bhagath govindh changeeaa ||1|| |
| Says servant Nanak, listen, O Saints: devotional worship of the Lord, the Lord of the Universe, is sublime and good. ||1|| |

| The golden body is saddled with the saddle of gold. |

| ਜੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤੰਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| jarr har har naam rathannaa raam || |
| It is adorned with the jewel of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. |

| ਜੜਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸੁਖ ਘਣੇ ॥ |
| jarr naam rathan govindh paaeiaa har milae har gun sukh ghanae || |
| Adorned with the jewel of the Naam, one obtains the Lord of the Universe; he meets the Lord, sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and obtains all sorts of comforts. |

| ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਹਰਿ ਬਣੇ ॥ |
| gur sabadh paaeiaa har naam dhhiaaeiaa vaddabhaagee har rang har banae || |
| He obtains the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and he meditates on the Name of the Lord; by great good fortune, he assumes the color of the Lord's Love. |

| ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਵਤਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਵ ਰੰਗੀਆ ॥ |
| har milae suaamee antharajaamee har navathan har nav rangeeaa || |
| He meets his Lord and Master, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts; His body is ever-new, and His color is ever-fresh. |

| ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੰਗੀਆ ॥੨॥ |
| naanak vakhaanai naam jaanai har naam har prabh mangeeaa ||2|| |
| Nanak chants and realizes the Naam; he begs for the Name of the Lord, the Lord God. ||2|| |

| ਕੜੀਆਲੁ ਮੁਖੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਕਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| karreeaal mukhae gur ankas paaeiaa raam || |
| The Guru has placed the reins in the mouth of the body-horse. |

| ਮਨੁ ਮੈਗਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| man maigal gur sabadh vas aaeiaa raam || |
| The mind-elephant is overpowered by the Word of the Guru's Shabad. |

| ਮਨੁ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਆਇਆ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥ |
| man vasagath aaeiaa param padh paaeiaa saa dhhan kanth piaaree || |
| The bride obtains the supreme status, as her mind is brought under control; she is the beloved of her Husband Lord. |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਲਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਰੀ ॥ |
| anthar praem lagaa har saethee ghar sohai har prabh naaree || |
| Deep within her inner self, she is in love with her Lord; in His home, she is beautiful - she is the bride of her Lord God. |

| ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| har rang raathee sehajae maathee har prabh har har paaeiaa || |
| Imbued with the Lord's Love, she is intuitively absorbed in bliss; she obtains the Lord God, Har, Har. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਹਤੁ ਹੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੩॥ |
| naanak jan har dhaas kehath hai vaddabhaagee har har dhhiaaeiaa ||3|| |
| Servant Nanak, the Lord's slave, says that only the very fortunate meditate on the Lord, Har, Har. ||3|| |

| ਦੇਹ ਘੋੜੀ ਜੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| dhaeh ghorree jee jith har paaeiaa raam || |
| The body is the horse, upon which one rides to the Lord. |

| ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥ |
| mil sathigur jee mangal gaaeiaa raam || |
| Meeting with the True Guru, one sings the songs of joy. |
 |
| ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਕੀ ॥ |
| har gaae mangal raam naamaa har saev saevak saevakee || |
| Sing the songs of joy to the Lord, serve the Name of the Lord, and become the servant of His servants. |

| ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਇ ਪਾਵੈ ਰੰਗ ਮਹਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੈ ਰੰਗ ਕੀ ॥ |
| prabh jaae paavai rang mehalee har rang maanai rang kee || |
| You shall go and enter the Mansion of the Beloved Lord's Presence, and lovingly enjoy His Love. |

| ਗੁਣ ਰਾਮ ਗਾਏ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ |
| gun raam gaaeae man subhaaeae har guramathee man dhhiaaeiaa || |
| I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, so pleasing to my mind; following the Guru's Teachings, I meditate on the Lord within my mind. |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਦੇਹ ਘੋੜੀ ਚੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੬॥ |

| The Lord has showered His Mercy upon servant Nanak; mounting the body-horse, he has found the Lord. ||4||2||6|| |

| eihu than man dhitharraa vaaro vaaraa raam || |
| I have made this body and mind a sacrifice, a sacrificial offering to my Lord. |

| ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਜਿਤਾ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਂਣਿ ਜਮਾਣੀ ॥ |
| than man dhithaa bhavajal jithaa chookee kaann jamaanee || |
| Dedicating my body and mind, I have crossed over the terrifying world-ocean, and shaken off the fear of death. |

| ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਥੀਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ਰਹਿਆ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ |
| asathhir thheeaa anmrith peeaa rehiaa aavan jaanee || |
| Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar, I have become immortal; my comings and goings have ceased. |

| ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਲਧਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥ |
| so ghar ladhhaa sehaj samadhhaa har kaa naam adhhaaraa || |
| I have found that home, of celestial Samaadhi; the Name of the Lord is my only Support. |

| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਮਾਣੇ ਰਲੀਆਂ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੰਉ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ |
| kahu naanak sukh maanae raleeaaan gur poorae kano namasakaaraa ||1|| |
| Says Nanak, I enjoy peace and pleasure; I bow in reverence to the Perfect Guru. ||1|| |

| - the Guru has given the Mantra of the Shabad, the True Word of God. |

| ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਚੂਕੇ ਮਨਹੁ ਅਦੇਸਾ ॥ |
| sach sabadh dhhiaaeiaa mangal gaaeiaa chookae manahu adhaesaa || |
| Meditating on this True Shabad, I sing the songs of joy, and my mind is rid of anxiety. |

| ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਸਾ ॥ |
| so prabh paaeiaa kathehi n jaaeiaa sadhaa sadhaa sang baisaa || |
| I have found God, who never leaves; forever and ever, He sits with me. |
