| ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਗੁ ਲੂਝੈ ਲਬਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ |
| jamakaal n soojhai maaeiaa jag loojhai lab lobh chith laaeae || |
| They do not see the Messenger of Death; they long for Maya, and their consciousness is attached to greed. |

| ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੩॥ |
| so pir saachaa sadh hee saachaa naa ouhu marai n jaaeae ||3|| |
| That Husband Lord is True, forever True; He does not die, and He does not leave. ||3|| |

| ਇਕਿ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀਆ ਅੰਧੀ ਨਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਨਾਲੇ ॥ |
| eik rovehi pirehi vishhunneeaa andhhee naa jaanai pir naalae || |
| Some weep and wail, separated from their Husband Lord; the blind ones do not know that their Husband is with them. |

| ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਾਚਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥ |
| gur parasaadhee saachaa pir milai anthar sadhaa samaalae || |
| By Guru's Grace, they may meet with their True Husband, and cherish Him always deep within. |
|
| ਪਿਰੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਦੂਰੇ ॥ |
| pir anthar samaalae sadhaa hai naalae manamukh jaathaa dhoorae || |
| She cherishes her Husband deep within herself - He is always with her; the self-willed manmukhs think that He is far away. |

| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਪਿਰੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥ |
| naanak saa dhhan milai milaaee pir anthar sadhaa samaalae || |
| O Nanak, that soul-bride is united in Union; she cherishes her Beloved Husband forever, deep within herself. |

| ਇਕਿ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀਆ ਅੰਧੀ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੪॥੨॥ |

| rovehi pirehi vishhunneeaa mai pir sacharraa hai sadhaa naalae || |
| Those who are separated from their Beloved Husband Lord weep and wail, but my True Husband Lord is always with me. |

| ਜਿਨੀ ਚਲਣੁ ਸਹੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥ |
| jinee chalan sehee jaaniaa sathigur saevehi naam samaalae || |
| Those who know that they must depart, serve the True Guru, and dwell upon the Naam, the Name of the Lord. |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sadhaa naam samaalae sathigur hai naalae sathigur saev sukh paaeiaa || |
| They dwell constantly upon the Naam, and the True Guru is with them; they serve the True Guru, and so obtain peace. |
|
| ਸਬਦੇ ਕਾਲੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇਆ ॥ |
| sabadhae kaal maar sach our dhhaar fir aavan jaan n hoeiaa || |
| Through the Shabad, they kill death, and enshrine the True Lord within their hearts; they shall not have to come and go again. |
|
| ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥ |
| sachaa saahib sachee naaee vaekhai nadhar nihaalae || |
| True is the Lord and Master, and True is His Name; bestowing His Gracious Glance, one is enraptured. |

| God, my Lord and Master, is the highest of all; how can I meet my Dear Beloved? |

| ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥ |
| sathigur maelee thaan sehaj milee pir raakhiaa our dhhaarae || |
| When the True Guru united me, then I was naturally united with my Husband Lord, and now, I keep Him clasped to my heart. |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ਨੇਹੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਦਿਸੈ ॥ |
| sadhaa our dhhaarae naehu naal piaarae sathigur thae pir dhisai || |
| I constantly, lovingly cherish my Beloved within my heart; through the True Guru, I see my Beloved. |
|
| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਕਾ ਕਚਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਪੈਧੈ ਪਗੁ ਖਿਸੈ ॥ |
| maaeiaa moh kaa kachaa cholaa thith paidhhai pag khisai || |
| The cloak of Maya's love is false; wearing it, one slips and loses his footing. |
|
| ਪਿਰ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਪੈਧੈ ਤਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥ |
| pir rang raathaa so sachaa cholaa thith paidhhai thikhaa nivaarae || |
| That cloak is true, which is dyed in the color of the Love of my Beloved; wearing it, my inner thirst is quenched. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਊਚਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੨॥ |

| God, my Lord and Master, is the highest of all; how can I meet my Dear Beloved? ||2|| |

| mai prabh sach pashhaaniaa hor bhoolee avaganiaarae || |
| I have realized my True Lord God, while the other worthless ones have gone astray. |
|
| ਮੈ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੜੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥ |
| mai sadhaa raavae pir aapanaa sacharrai sabadh veechaarae || |
| I dwell constantly upon my Beloved Husband Lord, and reflect upon the True Word of the Shabad. |

| ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਨਾਰੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ |
| sachai sabadh veechaarae rang raathee naarae mil sathigur preetham paaeiaa || |
| The bride reflects upon the True Shabad, and is imbued with His Love; she meets with the True Guru, and finds her Beloved. |

| ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ ਗਇਆ ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥ |
| anthar rang raathee sehajae maathee gaeiaa dhusaman dhookh sabaaeiaa || |
| Deep within, she is imbued with His Love, and intoxicated with delight; her enemies and sufferings are all taken away. |

| ਅਪਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੰਉ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥ |
| apanae gur kano than man dheejai thaan man bheejai thrisanaa dhookh nivaarae || |
| Surrender body and soul to your Guru, and then you shall become happy; your thirst and pain shall be taken away. |
|
| ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹੋਰ ਭੂਲੀ ਅਵਗਣਿਆਰੇ ॥੩॥ |
| mai pir sach pashhaaniaa hor bhoolee avaganiaarae ||3|| |

| aap milaaeae aap milai aapae dhaee piaaro || |
| He Himself unites, and causes us to unite with Him; He Himself blesses us with His Love. |

| ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਸਹਜਿ ਵਾਪਾਰੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥ |
| aapae dhaee piaaro sehaj vaapaaro guramukh janam savaarae || |
| He Himself blesses us with His Love, and deals in celestial peace; the life of the Gurmukh is reformed. |

| ਧਨੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੋ ॥ |
| dhhan jag mehi aaeiaa aap gavaaeiaa dhar saachai sachiaaro || |
| Blessed is his coming into the world; he banishes his self-conceit, and is acclaimed as true in the Court of the True Lord. |
|
| ਗਿਆਨਿ ਰਤਨਿ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥ |
| giaan rathan ghatt chaanan hoaa naanak naam piaaro || |
| The light of the jewel of spiritual wisdom shines within his heart, O Nanak, and he loves the Naam, the Name of the Lord. |

| ਸਚੜੈ ਆਪਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥ |

| This body is frail; old age is overtaking it. |

| gur raakhae sae oubarae hor mar janmai aavai jaaeae || |
| Those who are protected by the Guru are saved, while others die, to be reincarnated; they continue coming and going. |

| ਹੋਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥ |
| hor mar janmehi aavehi jaavehi anth geae pashhuthaavehi bin naavai sukh n hoee || |
| Others die, to be reincarnated; they continue coming and going, and in the end, they depart regretfully. Without the Name, there is no peace. |
|
| ਐਥੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਹੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥ |
| aithhai kamaavai so fal paavai manamukh hai path khoee || |
| As one acts here, so does he obtain his rewards; the self-willed manmukh loses his honor. |
|
| ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਨਾ ਤਿਥੈ ਭੈਣ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥ |
| jam pur ghor andhhaar mehaa gubaar naa thithhai bhain n bhaaee || |
| In the City of Death, there is pitch darkness, and huge clouds of dust; neither sister nor brother is there. |
|
| ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜਜਰੀ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਜਰੁ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਆਈ ॥੧॥ |
| eihu sareer jajaree hai eis no jar pahuchai aaee ||1|| |
| This body is frail; old age is overtaking it. ||1|| |
|
| ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਸਚੜੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ |

| Doubt and Maya have been removed from within me, and I am merged in the Naam, the True Name of the Lord. |

| ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| sachai naam samaaeae har gun gaaeae mil preetham sukh paaeae || |
| Merged in the True Name of the Lord, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord; meeting my Beloved, I have found peace. |
|
| ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹੰਉਮੈ ਜਾਏ ॥ |
| sadhaa anandh rehai dhin raathee vichahu hanoumai jaaeae || |
| I am in constant bliss, day and night; egotism has been dispelled from within me. |
|
| ਜਿਨੀ ਪੁਰਖੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਹੰਉ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਏ ॥ |
| jinee purakhee har naam chith laaeiaa thin kai hano laago paaeae || |
| I fall at the feet of those who enshrine the Naam within their consciousness. |
|
| ਕਾਂਇਆ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਤਾਂ ਥੀਐ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥ |
| kaaneiaa kanchan thaan thheeai jaa sathigur leae milaaeae ||2|| |
| The body becomes like gold, when the True Guru unites one with Himself. ||2|| |
|
| ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥ |
| so sachaa sach salaaheeai jae sathigur dhaee bujhaaeae || |
| We truly praise the True Lord, when the True Guru imparts understanding. |
|
| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੀਆ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸਨਿ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਏ ॥ |
| bin sathigur bharam bhulaaneeaa kiaa muhu dhaesan aagai jaaeae || |
| Without the True Guru, they are deluded by doubt; going to the world hereafter, what face will they display? |
|
| ਕਿਆ ਦੇਨਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਜਾਏ ਅਵਗੁਣਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਏ ਦੁਖੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥ |
| kiaa dhaen muhu jaaeae avagun pashhuthaaeae dhukho dhukh kamaaeae || |
| What face will they show, when they go there? They will regret and repent for their sins; their actions will bring them only pain and suffering. |
|
| ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੀਆ ਸੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲਾ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ |
| naam ratheeaa sae rang chaloolaa pir kai ank samaaeae || |
| Those who are imbued with the Naam are dyed in the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love; they merge into the Being of their Husband Lord. |
|
| ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੂਝਈ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਾਏ ॥ |
| this jaevadd avar n soojhee kis aagai keheeai jaaeae || |
| I can conceive of no other as great as the Lord; unto whom should I go and speak? |

| ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੩॥ |
| so sachaa sach salaaheeai jae sathigur dhaee bujhaaeae ||3|| |
