| kis ho jaachee kis aaraadhhee jaa sabh ko keethaa hosee || |
| Who should I ask? Who should I worship? All were created by Him. |

| ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਵਡਾ ਵਡੇਰਾ ਸੋ ਸੋ ਖਾਕੂ ਰਲਸੀ ॥ |
| jo jo dheesai vaddaa vaddaeraa so so khaakoo ralasee || |
| Whoever appears to be the greatest of the great, shall ultimately be mixed with the dust. |

| ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨੁ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਦੇਸੀ ॥੧॥ |
| nirabho nirankaar bhav khanddan sabh sukh nav nidhh dhaesee ||1|| |
| The Fearless, Formless Lord, the Destroyer of Fear bestows all comforts, and the nine treasures. ||1|| |

| ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤੀ ਰਾਜਾ ॥ |

| O Dear Lord, Your gifts alone satisfy me. |

| ਮਾਣਸੁ ਬਪੁੜਾ ਕਿਆ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਮੁਹਤਾਜਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |

| Why should I praise the poor helpless man? Why should I feel subservient to him? ||Pause|| |

| ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਭੂਖ ਗਵਾਈ ॥ |
| jin har dhhiaaeiaa sabh kishh this kaa this kee bhookh gavaaee || |
| All things come to one who meditates on the Lord; the Lord satisfies his hunger. |

| ਐਸਾ ਧਨੁ ਦੀਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੈ ਨਿਖੁਟਿ ਨ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| aisaa dhhan dheeaa sukhadhaathai nikhutt n kab hee jaaee || |
| The Lord, the Giver of peace, bestows such wealth, that it can never be exhausted. |

| ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| anadh bhaeiaa sukh sehaj samaanae sathigur mael milaaee ||2|| |
| I am in ecstasy, absorbed in celestial peace; the True Guru has united me in His Union. ||2|| |
|
| ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥ |
| man naam jap naam aaraadhh anadhin naam vakhaanee || |
| O mind, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord; worship the Naam, night and day, and recite the Naam. |

| ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸਭ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਜਮਾਣੀ ॥ |
| oupadhaes sun saadhh santhan kaa sabh chookee kaan jamaanee || |
| Listen to the Teachings of the Holy Saints, and all fear of death will be dispelled. |

| ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥੩॥ |
| jin ko kirapaal hoaa prabh maeraa sae laagae gur kee baanee ||3|| |
| Those blessed by God's Grace are attached to the Word of the Guru's Bani. ||3|| |

| ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਉਣੁ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਤੂ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ |
| keemath koun karai prabh thaeree thoo sarab jeeaa dhaeiaalaa || |
| Who can estimate Your worth, God? You are kind and compassionate to all beings. |

| ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਕਿਆ ਹਮ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲਾ ॥ |

| Everything which You do, prevails; I am just a poor child - what can I do? |

| ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਭਾਈ ਏਹਾ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰ ॥ |
| saachaa saahib man vasai bhaaee eaehaa karanee saar || |
| Let the True Lord and Master abide in your mind, O Siblings of Destiny; this is the most excellent way of life. |

| ਜਿਤੁ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਭਾਈ ਸੇ ਤਨ ਹੋਏ ਛਾਰ ॥ |
| jith than naam n oopajai bhaaee sae than hoeae shhaar || |
| Those bodies, in which the Name of the Lord does not well up, O Siblings of Destiny - those bodies are reduced to ashes. |
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਨ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੧॥ |
| saadhhasangath ko vaariaa bhaaee jin eaekankaar adhhaar ||1|| |
| I am a sacrifice to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, O Siblings of Destiny; they take the Support of the One and Only Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਸੋਈ ਸਚੁ ਅਰਾਧਣਾ ਭਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| soee sach araadhhanaa bhaaee jis thae sabh kishh hoe || |
| So worship and adore that True Lord, O Siblings of Destiny; He alone does everything. |

| ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਜਾਣਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| gur poorai jaanaaeiaa bhaaee this bin avar n koe || rehaao || |
| The Perfect Guru has taught me, O Siblings of Destiny, that without Him, there is no other at all. ||Pause|| |

| ਨਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣੇ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਭਾਈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਗਣੀ ॥ |
| naam vihoonae pach mueae bhaaee ganath n jaae ganee || |
| Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they putrefy and die, O Siblings of Destiny; their numbers cannot be counted. |

| ਵਿਣੁ ਸਚ ਸੋਚ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਧਣੀ ॥ |
| vin sach soch n paaeeai bhaaee saachaa agam dhhanee || |
| Without Truth, purity cannot be achieved, O Siblings of Destiny; the Lord is true and unfathomable. |
|
| ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਚੁਕਈ ਭਾਈ ਝੂਠੀ ਦੁਨੀ ਮਣੀ ॥ |
| aavan jaan n chukee bhaaee jhoothee dhunee manee || |
| Coming and going do not end, O Siblings of Destiny; pride in worldly valuables is false. |
|
| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਉਧਾਰਦਾ ਭਾਈ ਦੇ ਨਾਵੈ ਏਕ ਕਣੀ ॥੨॥ |
| guramukh kott oudhhaaradhaa bhaaee dhae naavai eaek kanee ||2|| |
| The Gurmukh saves millions of people, O Siblings of Destiny, blessing them with even a particle of the Name. ||2|| |
|
| ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਸੋਧਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| sinmrith saasath sodhhiaa bhaaee vin sathigur bharam n jaae || |
| I have searched through the Simritees and the Shaastras, O Siblings of Destiny - without the True Guru, doubt does not depart. |

| ਅਨਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕਿਆ ਭਾਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ |
| anik karam kar thhaakiaa bhaaee fir fir bandhhan paae || |
| They are so tired of performing their many deeds, O Siblings of Destiny, but they fall into bondage again and again. |
|
| ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਭਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੩॥ |
| vaddabhaagee gur paaeiaa bhaaee har har naam dhhiaae ||3|| |
| By great good fortune, I found the Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, and I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3|| |
|
| ਸਚੁ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਚੇ ਸੋਇ ॥ |
| sach sadhaa hai niramalaa bhaaee niramal saachae soe || |
| The Truth is forever pure, O Siblings of Destiny; those who are true are pure. |
|
| ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ |
| nadhar karae jis aapanee bhaaee this paraapath hoe || |
| When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, O Siblings of Destiny, then one obtains Him. |

| ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਕੋਇ ॥ |
| kott madhhae jan paaeeai bhaaee viralaa koee koe || |
| Among millions, O Siblings of Destiny, hardly one humble servant of the Lord is found. |
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥ |
| naanak rathaa sach naam bhaaee sun man than niramal hoe ||4||2|| |
| Nanak is imbued with the True Name, O Siblings of Destiny; hearing it, the mind and body become immaculately pure. ||4||2|| |

| jo lo bhaao abhaao eihu maanai tho lo milan dhooraaee || |
| As long as this person believes in love and hate, it is difficult for him to meet the Lord. |
|
| ਆਨ ਆਪਨਾ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ਤਉ ਲਉ ਬੀਚੁ ਬਿਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ |
| aan aapanaa karath beechaaraa tho lo beech bikhaaee ||1|| |
| As long as he discriminates between himself and others, he will distance himself from the Lord. ||1|| |
|
| ਮਾਧਵੇ ਐਸੀ ਦੇਹੁ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ |
| maadhhavae aisee dhaehu bujhaaee || |
| O Lord, grant me such understanding, |
|
| ਸੇਵਉ ਸਾਧ ਗਹਉ ਓਟ ਚਰਨਾ ਨਹ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਚਸਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ |
| saevo saadhh geho outt charanaa neh bisarai muhath chasaaee || rehaao || |
| that I might serve the Holy Saints, and seek the protection of their feet, and not forget them, for a moment, even an instant. ||Pause|| |
|
| ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੁਗਧ ਅਚੇਤ ਚੰਚਲ ਚਿਤ ਤੁਮ ਐਸੀ ਰਿਦੈ ਨ ਆਈ ॥ |
| rae man mugadhh achaeth chanchal chith thum aisee ridhai n aaee || |
| O foolish, thoughtless and fickle mind, such understanding did not come into your heart. |
|
| ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਆਨ ਤੂ ਰਚਿਆ ਉਰਝਿਓ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥੨॥ |
| praanapath thiaag aan thoo rachiaa ourajhiou sang bairaaee ||2|| |
| Renouncing the Lord of Life, you have become engrossed in other things, and you are involved with your enemies. ||2|| |
|
| ਸੋਗੁ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਥਾਪੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ |
| sog n biaapai aap n thhaapai saadhhasangath budhh paaee || |
| Sorrow does not afflict one who does not harbor self-conceit; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have attained this understanding. |

| ਸਾਕਤ ਕਾ ਬਕਨਾ ਇਉ ਜਾਨਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਪਵਨੁ ਝੁਲਾਈ ॥੩॥ |
| saakath kaa bakanaa eio jaano jaisae pavan jhulaaee ||3|| |
| Know that the babbling of the faithless cynic is like wind passing by. ||3|| |
|
| ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਧ ਅਛਾਦਿਓ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ |
| kott paraadhh ashhaadhiou eihu man kehanaa kashhoo n jaaee || |
| This mind is inundated by millions of sins - what can I say? |

| ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਆਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਭੁ ਲੇਖਾ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਠਾਈ ॥੪॥੩॥ |
| jan naanak dheen saran aaeiou prabh sabh laekhaa rakhahu outhaaee ||4||3|| |

| Children, spouses, men and women in one's household, are all bound by Maya. |

| ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਕੋ ਖਰਾ ਨ ਹੋਸੀ ਸਭ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਅਸਨੇਹੀ ॥੧॥ |
| anth kee baar ko kharaa n hosee sabh mithhiaa asanaehee ||1|| |
| At the very last moment, none of them shall stand by you; their love is totally false. ||1|| |
